RAM specs different than Apple specs

I just bought 2x 512MB of RAM (Kingston) for my old 1.8GHz G5. The voltage of the RAM doesn't exactly fit the specifications of Apple. The RAM is 2.6 volt - Apple recommends 2.5 volt. The reseller told me it's not a problem. What do you think?

The voltage being 2.6 should not be a problem.
[Even!] Crucial RAM is not 2.5

  • Kingston RAM OK rather than Apple approved?

I'm in Ottawa and I've been quoted by a shop that claims to be an Apple reseller who supplies Kingston RAM cheaper than the authorised Apple reseller. The price difference is significant.
I would be happier using the Apple authorised but am tempted by the Kingston product.
What does anyone think about inserting the Kingston RAM.
I have an ibook 933MHZ and want an extra 512 MB
    Thank you all

I have 1GB of Kingston RAM in my iBook. As long as they'll guarantee compatibility buy it.

  • ICloud email is different than Apple ID

I recently bought a new iphone5s, prior to which I was using an iphone 4. I never used my iCloud servcices in my old phone, but had created an ID anyways. However the email address that I had used to create my ICloud, is no longer available. Nor do I remember my security questions (Shockingly, I dont know what I was doing while creating it).
Anyways, I never needed iCloud, but I did have an Apple ID which is using a different log in and password than my Icloud (I tried entering the same password as my Apple ID).
When I bought my iphone5S, it synced with my itunes (I clicked on Restore iphone), and copied all settings from my last back up of my iphone4, along with its iCloud email address !!
Now it keeps prompting my for my iCloud password, and there is absolutely no way I can change or delete the account, since I cant login nor do i remember my security questions.
    Please help.

You should still be able to use your college email address, just log in with your details.

  • Software Update File Size Different than Apple Downloads File Size

    Background:
I am running software update and it retrieves the update for "MacBook, MacBook Pro Software update 1.1" File size is listed as 768K. When I go to the Apple Downloads page for this update, the file size is 979K.
Download ID is 16618 and URl is http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macbookmacbookprosoft wareupdate11.html
    Question:
Is this discrepancy normal based on the way that Software Update calculates file size or should I be concerned? There is no hash to confirm integrity of the file.

File size, and the volume of space it takes up are 2 different things. Space will very from computer to computer. Chances are, the larger the drive the more space it takes up. Reason? The file system (HSF + on macs with Leopard). The file sytem divides the drive into specific number of sections. That number may be 10 M, say. So, even if you have a thumbnail that is 4 kb, it will still require the minimum size of the file system. Make sense? There is a lot of wasted space on very large drives.
Note: Leopard is set up to use a new file system that apple may soon adopt. It will not use the division method HFS + uses, and so will save a lot of space, if adopted.

  • Is Apple RAM really better than others?

I believe i may be having memory issues. I have a Spring 2011 iMac. Came with 2 sticks totaling 4G. I replaced with 16G of Corsair. After intermittent lookups I removed half (8G) and things got better but still the occasional FREEZE. I still have Apple care so I took it in. Apple will not even test the memory if it isn't Apple memory. I just found Apple memory for about $58 for 8G. Should I replace my memory with the Apple RAM? The original RAM looks like this:
What the heck is this brand?
I was thinking if I could get 2 Apple 4G sticks and use the original 4G plus the new 8G, I would have a nice 12G of memory. I use FinalCut X a lot and extra memory always helps. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Apple has been using Hynix RAM for years.
iMac's are not all that picky about brand, but they are very picky about the RAM spec's.
as per > iMac (Mid 2011): Memory specifications your 2011 iMac uses PC3-10600 1333 MHz modules.
If the Corsair RAM Modules that you bought are the correct specs? Then you should have no problem install it along with the original factory 4GB and running a total of 20GB.
I would suspect that you are having one of three different problems.
    1. The Corsair RAM is not the correct spec and while it works, it is causing errors and does not work when matched up with the factory RAM.
    2. The Corsair RAM is the correct spec, but one of the modules is bad. (noting that: the way your holding that Hynix module is liable to damage it)
    3. You are not pushing hard enough to fully seat the modules in the slots. (try pushing real hard on each module with both thumbs as you install them)
Going on that I would install the factory modules back in the original slots that they came in and test the iMac. Then if the Corsair modules are the correct spec, install them in the empty slots and test the iMac.
Then if you are still having a problem..? Like many other RAM suppliers, Corsair does have a life time warranty.

  • Is it necessary to manually set cpu and ram specs in bios anymore?

I just ugpraded with a K8N Neo2-F board, and Venice 3500+ cpu.   I didn't do anything in particular with the cpu/ram spec settings in the bios.  CPU-Z recognizes the cpu as a venice core 3500+, using multiplier 11 and fsb clock 200mhz, and the ram is recognized as 1GB pc2700, with assorted clock settings.  The ram is from Crucial and was spec'd out to my old MSI KT4AVL board, so I looked the same ram up again at Crucial.com, but it didn't list the various clock settings anywhere in the specs on that particular chip online.  At least the CAS Latency is showing up correctly in CPU-Z, from what the label on the ram says.  Should I just assume the other clock settings are correct, too?  How can I find out what they should be for my ram?  (I know - I should probably be using Corsair DDR400's like everyone else here, but $ is tight  so I just reused what I had...)

RAM timings should be set up if you want the best performance. Alot of times the motherboard is able to determine this but not always. In CPU-Z there are two tabs related to memory. One is SPD which should show you the recommended timings for your memory, the other tab Memory should show you what your memory is currently running out. If they are different I would go with what is listed on the SPD tab and put those values in the bios.
It would definitely be beneficial to upgrade your memory to 2 PC-3200 matched sticks, so you get the speed increase from the increased memory bandwidth and also so you can get dual-channel. I would put memory as the top priorty for the next item to get for the computer.
    Good Luck
    Jeremy

  • What is the RAM specs on ipad2 and iphone 4s?

Anybody know what the RAM specs are on these devices?

According to reports from other sources (Apple does not announce this officially) the RAM is 512 MB on both devices.

  • I am having a problem with homesharing on my apple tv. The email address on my tv is different than what I am registered with. How do I correct the email address that is being displayed under home sharing on the apple tv?

Somehow my apple id email address under homesharing on my apple tv is different than that used for homesharing on itunes in my imac. I can't access home sharing on my apple tv because of this. Can you please tell me how to change it on the apple tv in order to get homesharing to work?

turn off home sharing on apple tv, then turn it on again, entering new credentials. Apple-TV works very reliably with home sharing unlike iDevices which don't

How do I reset my computer password so I can download software to my computer?  This is different than my apple ID,
I wrote it down but it is not working.  Need help

You have encountered the Activation Lock. If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a "certain" (your word not mine) Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must enter the certain" Apple ID and password to use the device. If you cannot do this you will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

  • How can my wife access all of our itunes music if she signs up for iTunes match, but her apple id is different than mine?

How can my wife access all of our iTunes music, even if she subscribes to iTunes Match, if her Apple ID is different than mine?

I do subscribe to iTunes Match.....and the music i am referring to is all of our downloaded albums and songs that are currently in iTunes and in the "cloud" on my iPhone and my iPad.
So if she uses my Apple ID for her iPhone, she can sign up for iTunes Match on my account?  Will any of my apps then transfer to her phone?  Or just the iTunes "data"?

  • My icloud ID is different than my Apple ID. Help!

I am trying to delete cloud data. I cannot sign in to cloud as Apple ID is different than cloud ID!
How do I reset cloud password and change my ID on my phone!

Did you change your Apple ID by going to Manage your Apple ID and editing the existing one to a new ID?
If so, then you need to do the following to delete your iCloud account:
    1.     Go to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the old ID (the one that is showing on the iCloud account). This is a temporary change - do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password:   Apple - My Apple ID
    2.     Go to Settings>iCloud on your device and scroll to the bottom of the screen and press Delete to delete the iCloud account. Type in your current Apple ID password when asked.
    3.     Go back to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the new ID (you may need to verify it again)
    4.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign onto iCloud with your new ID
    Cheers,
