Random successive crashes in AE CS6

Hello Adobe Community!
After effects CS6 crashes randomly about every 3 minutes or so. It just quits without any warning cough, or lag time. I only get this pop-up window when it's already too late. The crash doesn't seem to be triggered by any specific task I perform.
Strangely, I'm not even doing or using anything! My scene is close to an empty canvas, no RAM is being used and no external plug-in either. I made a dummy scene with a layer of type and a rectangle shape only, waited 3 minutes and it crashed, again.
All latest update for creative cloud were installed lately. My system uses Windows8 Pro 64bits, i7 processor, 16G of Ram and GForce GT 640M. It's a beautiful day, but I can't work...

  • Noise Ninja crashes my PS CS6 (64 bit PC)

Noise Ninja crashes my PS CS6. What'e even worse is PS CS6 can NOT be restarted without restarting the computer first! As the noise filter in PS CS6 works really poorly, does anybody have a suggestion for software that works? I use the 64 bit version. No other problems - so far.

    steve963 wrote:
Way faster than NoiseNinja? What is way faster than 1 second? In any case, noise reduction in PS CS6 still sucks - BUT, in ACR it works VERY well. The secret is to KEEP your raw files.
Steve I was talking about ACR, which is why it is faster, because it saves an operation.  It is also a while since I used Noise Ninja because I have Topaz deNoise as part of their Bundle package, and while it is OK, it takes several seconds to do it's thing.
But if I was batching a large job, I would use Bridge and ACR, and sync as many images as I could reasonably get away with for the sake of speed.  I just can't get on with Lightroom.
I can't imagine why anyone would delete their RAW files after processing them.  Several people, including Noel IIRC, have spoken about going back to old RAW files with ACR7, and getting noticably more out of them.
I know HDDs are still at a premium, but they are still afordable.  I have 10Tb over 11 drives. That includes four WD USB3 My Book externals, but they are very nearly as fast as my (non raid) internals, and perfectly usable.

No, I'm not using any external display.
Actually I have totally re installed my MacBook Pro, in order to uninstall those kernel extensions.
But I have had one freeze every day on average since that...
Here is my last kernel report :

My PC crashed with both CS6 and Lightroom 4. . .I purchased a Mac Pro.  Can I download the Mac versions of both programs and use my currenct serial numbers?

You can with Lightroom, but not (as far as I know) with Photoshop. You ought to get in touch with Adobe's customer service people and see if you can "sidegrade" to Mac for a relatively small fee.

  • Serious frustration over constant crashing of InDesign CS6

    Hi everyone
I am seriously beyond frustrated over constant crashing from InDesign CS6. If InDesign is a person, I would have slammed its face into the wall by now. Just these two days, while working on a 160 pages document, Indesign has crashed more than 20 times and everytime it does, the crash report is too large to post to pastebin.
Basically, when I reflow text, it crashed. When I tried generating TOC it crashed. While inserting new cross references, I mis-clicked and clicked on "update" instead and it crashed. When I deleted one page, it crashed. When I deleted one textbox, it crashed. I can't seem to stop it from crashing. I'm really really frustrated coz there's no one or place I can take the damn document to so that I can some answers from someone why it crashes soooo frequently. I did another document, which was around the same size, it was fine. No drama. Why this is different?
Is it because I have a running headers? So everytime I do something, it will update and then crash? Can I stop running headers from updating automatically? Can I set it to update manually?
I'm soooooooooooooooo over it. I can't seem to figure out the crashing problem. I have turned off Smart Flow thinking that it was what causing it. Still the same thing.
I'm running OSX Mountain Lion with SF4.
I'm sure it will crash again. I might have to post a pdf doc of the crash report.
    Any idea will be appreciated

It could be a font but there's nothing I could do about it because it's a template document. I have to use that font, DIN by the way.
Yes, there are cross references and some of them were transferred from Word doc when I placed text in. So I went through and removed those coz they were wrong anyway.
I also added cross references to the running headers like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBgBQJLErCM
Basically, the style of the document (designed by another designer) had numbering in front of the chapter titles and it's throughout the document so there could be up to 12 running titles. I had a feeling it would be this because this is the only thing I did differently this time around using this file, but it's either this way or create 12 Master Pages.
Does anyone know how else can I do a running headers with numbering?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Random Application Crashes - HELP!

    Hi All,
I have begun to experience random application crashes on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.4.10. I can be working happily in Photoshop or Word etc and suddenly without warning the application will just exit. Could anyone give me an idea how to cure this as it's beginning to drive me nuts and worse is making my working day remind me of when I had to work on PC's ARRRrrrrr.
    Any help VERY greatly appreciated.
    Regards, R.

    HI RB,
Applications that just crash are really frustrating... read the following ...
    My application quit unexpectedly
There are several reasons why an application might quit suddenly. If this happens repeatedly with an application, here are some things you can try to correct the problem:
Try opening the application again. If this doesn't work, try restarting your computer.
The application you are using may not be compatible with the version of the Mac OS that you have installed. In general, make sure you have the latest versions of applications and the latest version of Mac OS X. Be sure to read the notes (for example, Read Me files) that come with application installers to be certain that they are compatible with your version of the operating system.
There may be a problem with the document you are using. Try using the application with a different document to see if the behavior continues.
There may be a problem with the application's preferences file. Locate the application's preferences file in Library/Preferences on your hard disk. Some applications have their own preferences folder, so you may need to look in Library/Preferences/[application or manufacturer's name]. The filename should have the form com.[manufacturer's name].[application name].plist or something similar. Move the preferences file to the Trash and restart the application. You will have to reset your application preferences.
If you have just installed a new version of Mac OS X and you used the Archive & Install option, the preferences files have been archived to the Previous Systems folder on your hard disk. To restore these files, move them from the Library/Preferences folder of your Previous Systems folder to your current Library/Preferences folder.
If you just connected a peripheral device (for example, a printer), it may not be compatible with the version of Mac OS X that you are using. Disconnect the device and contact its manufacturer.
If you just installed a Mac OS 9 application, it may have added extensions to the System Folder that are not compatible with the Classic environment. Remove the software and contact the software's manufacturer.
If you just installed hardware, such as additional memory, it may be defective. Try running Apple Hardware Test, found on a disc that came with your computer, or take your computer to an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Also... it really helps to report bugs like this to Apple so the developers can work on fixes... go here to find out how to do that: Reporting application crashes
When an application crashes, you see a dialog that gives you the option to submit a report about the problem, called a "bug report," to Apple.
When you submit a bug report to Apple, it includes information about the crash and your computer's configuration. Many problems are directly attributable to the hardware and software configuration.
No personal information is gathered about you or your computer. No information that can be used to identify your computer is sent, such as volume names, network addresses or hardware addresses. For more information, click the link at the bottom of the page to see Apple's customer privacy policy.
To submit a bug report to Apple:
    Connect to the Internet.
In the dialog that appeared when the application crashed, click the submit button.
Type a description of what you were doing when the application crashed. List the applications that were open when the crash occurred, and any steps or hints to reproduce the problem.
Review the report in the Crash Report window.
Click "Send to Apple" to submit the report.
You won't receive an immediate response. As the software is revised, these reports are reviewed to help improve the software.
Your computer also records details about the crash in a log file. You can use log files to troubleshoot problems with an application, or you can send a log to the application's developer if it is requested.
You can view crash logs in Console, located in /Applications/Utilities. In the Logs list, user application crashes are located in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter and system application crashes are located in /Library/Logs/CrashReporter.
    I hope something has helped!

  • Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6?

Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6? What is best and safest way to do this?

If you are using a Windows OS
Open CS5 and go Help > Deactivate.
Then Control Panel > Programs and features > select CS5 and uninstall.
Or just leave it there.  Make sure you have sorted any third party plugins from CS5, although the uninstall should leave them intact.

  • Random Program Crashes---feels like a Windows machine

I am having very random program crashes, mainly with AOL Instant Messenger and Safari.
For AIM, I will merely be typing or navigating between IM boxes, and a message will pop up that says:
    "The application AIM quit unexpectedly.
Mac OS X and other applications are not affected.
Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."
I can post the technical specifications of the report if there is anyone that would actually be able to decipher them.
I just recently got this machine--less than 21 days ago--and it has had this problem virtually straight out of the box.
If there is any more information that anyone needs, I will be happy to provide. Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem and if there is anything I can do to fix it.

Ty - It is certainly not unheard of to receive a complex electronics system with an intermittent defect that had escaped the manufacturer's QA tests. But in your case, since the problem started the moment you installed AIM, then that's what I would focus on. Even though you uninstalled it and reinstalled it, there is no real way to know for sure what the AIM uninstaller may have left behind. Since you've only had your machine for 3 weeks, I would suggest doing a clean install of the system. I know it's a pain, but if it worked fine before the AIM install/remove and not afterwards (and you've only installed a small number of apps), I think that's your best move.
Only this time, use iChat rather than AIM.

  • Random application crashs (SSD + 10.8.2)

    Hey!
I purchased a MacBook Pro and switched the standard HDD with a new
"SAMSUNG SSD 830 Series, 256,06 GB". Unfortunately I experience several random application crashes, mostly after startup.
    Crash log examples:
    Chrome - http://pastebin.com/AYWAfSy2 and http://pastebin.com/r6ciQHuC
    TextEdit - http://pastebin.com/Pwzd5Hkt
    Adobe Premiere - http://pastebin.com/Xd5DYq4i
I tested my RAM with Rember, but it did not recognize any errors. So maybe it's a fault of the SSD? How can I detect this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Matthias

Back up all data if you haven’t already done so.
Boot in safe mode.* This will cause certain caches maintained by the system to be rebuilt. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
Safe mode is much slower to boot than normal.
When the login screen appears, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, proceed as below.
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then drag or copy into the Terminal window — do not type — and press return:
    sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
    Reboot and test.

    Need a fix!

Hopefully this helps:  I had one plugin (Vectorworks) which I deleted and now it opens.  Try deleting any plugins if you have any if you've run out of options. Took me hours to figure that out.

  • Random, annoying crashes in CS5.5

At what seems to be random, Audition crashes and Windows gives me the error at the bottom of this post. Using plugins, not using plugins, recording, playback, whatever. I get it in both WinXPx64 and Win7x64. Can anyone tell me what it means and/or how to stop it.

One of the devs might be able to tell you...
One thing you could try fairly easily is to uninstall and reinstall Audition (doesn't take long), and see if it still happens. The other thing you could try is to delete your preferences folder, which Audition will re-establish with a vanilla one, and see if that makes any difference.

  • Random outlook crashes

Ever since I installed iTunes 7.3 and synced my contacts with my iPhone I've been getting random outlook crashes every couple of minutes. Anyone else experience this ?
      Windows Vista

Seems to be a problem with the Outlook iTunes Sync Add-in that was installed with iTune 7.3. This addin is required to sync your contact and calendar info between Outlook and the iPhone using iTunes.
The issue has been reported to Apple and they are aware of it. You can go in and disable the add-in in Outlook and then you will not have the problem, however you won't be able to sync your contacts and calendar. Or, disable it in the registry if Outlook crashes too quickly for you to make the change!

  • Random system crashs

Most of the time everything runs fine on OSX, but sometimes i get random application crashes (AKA this application has encounted an error.....). The problem gets worst if i install 10.4.X (AKA applications crash every few min). I am thinking it MAY be the ram i installed in my system because it's kind of a mix of various chips from PC's. Is there a CD or application that can test for ram that will test for ram problems? Also, what is the specs for the ram for this computer? (like timing wise)
    Current comp:
    OSX 10.3.9
    Rev 2 board
    768MB ram
    450MHZ G3

If you still have OS 9 available, you can test your RAM with this.
    http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/5714
Make sure to read the whole result on eack DIMM for details, as sometimes it will point out problems, but say the DIMM is "OK" on the last line.
