  • Lumia 620 randomly freezes and reboots

I knew a cheap windows phone is too good to be true. I've been getting random freezes and reboots without any reason at all. This is unacceptable, nokia should address this windows 8 issue afflicting wp 8 phones. Please don't tell be to do a soft or hard reset because we already know it won't fix the problem.

Hi, everyone. I've been having problems with random reboots ever since I bought my Lumia 620 and it was driving me crazy. It freezes up sporadically too, but I think I found a fix for rebooting issues.
When my cousin bought her Lumia 620 I immediately asked her if hers rebooted sporadically as well. She said it hadn't, not once. Then, one time her battery was dying so I gave her mine, and she left me with her battery and on charger while she went home. Anyway, hers started to reboot frequently, whilst mine was behaving ok.
When we replaced the batteries again, mine began rebooting again.
Finally, I checked both our batteries and found out mine was moving around the device more freely than hers. Hers was held firmly in place while mine danced around. Then I tried moderate, yet gentle tap on the side of my device and it rebooted EVERY TIME I tapped it. After I inserted a small, neatly folded piece of paper between the device and the battery, the battery clicked in place tightly and it couldn't move at all. Reboots stopped, no matter how strong I tapped the sides of the device.
This hasn't resolved any freezes, but at least it's not rebooting all the time. So check your battery, maybe it is a hairline thinner or smaller or whatnot from the rest of them and it can move around. A millisecond is enough for it to lose contact, half a millimeter of movement is enough to cause your phone to reboot. Hope this revelation of mine will help someone

  • Random freezes and reboots

Hi, over the past few weeks my MBP's been acting up by completely locking up for a few seconds and then randomly restarting itself, often freezing during the reboot process, or at least that what I assume it's doing. It goes black and I can hear the drive whirring as if it's going to reboot, then it just remains black, but I can still hear the system running. Sometimes when it does this it reboots without issue, and for the times when it doesn't, I force it to shut down by holding the power button and turning it back on.
When it's back on all is normal, no unusual pauses in the booting process or anything. The computer's not overheating, and I'm never doing anything strenuous to the processor on it when this happens. And of course the computer's not being shaken.
It happened once a few weeks ago, and four times in one day, and sporadically throughout the past few weeks. Often it won't happen for 1-3 days at a time, and sometimes it will only happen once a day, or more. I've only been using it for two hours and it's already happened three times today. I've had this computer for over a year now and I've never had a problem with it before.

Try running in Safe Mode to see if the panics stop. If they do, then you have a problem with one or more of your installed third-party extensions:
    com.github.osxfuse.filesystems.osxfusefs          2.5.2
    rabb.it.driver.RabbitEars          2.1.4
    com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver          1.0.0
    com.attotech.driver.ATTOiSCSI          3.4.1b1
    com.TrustedData.driver.VendorSpecificType00          1.5.0
    com.promise.driver.stex          5.1.62
I would bet on OS X Fuse, but there are several there I'm not familiar with.

  • Macbook Air random freeze and reboot, plus other problems

I've had my Macbook Air for about 6 weeks and am having several issues. It is the 13" model, special ordered with 8GB of ram so it came straight from the factory. I copied all my data over from a mid-2010 15" Macbook Pro using migration assistant, and for the most part it has been a wonderful machine. There are a few problems, however, and now it is getting more serious.
First, I visited my closest Apple store to have them look at the wifi and bluetooth connection. It was not picking up wifi after waking up, and the same for my bluetooth mouse. They replaced some files and tested it out and it appeared to be fixed, but the problem persists. At least 50% of the time when I wake it up after leaving for 30-60 minutes, I click the mouse and it wakes up, but then there is no response when I move or click the mouse again. I often have to turn the mouse off and on several times to get it to connect.
Wifi is the same, though not as bad. Probably 10% of the time, it will not connect to a known wifi spot after wake. Sometimes it even tells me that none of my trusted networks are available, even when the network I use everyday is listed as available. This is a minor inconvenience, but it is a problem I never had with the macbook pro. Instead of picking up wifi within 10 seconds of wake, it can take as long as 60-90 seconds.
Now the real issues begin. Yesterday morning I stepped away from the computer for a few minutes, and when I returned it had rebooted itself. I do not know why. Only a few programs were running, nothing like system update that would restart the computer. I did a search online but could not find anything recent enough to point to a possible problem.
Then this morning it froze while I was using it. Mouse and keyboard (both external and the ones on the laptop) stopped responding. After a few minutes of waiting I finally shut it down by holding the power button until it turned off. This was alarming, especially less than 2 months after buying the machine. I will likely make an appointment at the Apple store again but these issues happen randomly and if I can't reproduce it they have little hope of diagnosing the problem.
Has anyone else had similar issues? I have run system update and nothing else is pending. This weekend I may restore it to factory settings and load all my data manually instead of copying from timemachine, but that is a royal pain. I'm looking for any suggestions of what to do because I planned to use this computer for years and the first 6 weeks have been very frustrating.

It is probably best to return to the Apple store for assistance, however, you do have 90 days of phone (in the US 800-275-2273) access to Apple which you can use too. If you buy Applecare anytime in the first year of ownership, the warranty and phone access is extended for a total of 3 years coverage  (warranty and phone).

  • My iPhone 5s is crashing and rebooting on its own.

I have tried a hard reset (with no improvement) and have backed up my phone today in preparation for restoring the phone. My plan was to do a factory reset and then restore from my backup. However, I am wondering if I restore from my backup, whether it might restore the problem causing the crashes. I appreciate any help to make sure I'm on the right track!
    Thank you!

I was impatient and contacted Apple Support (love using Chat Support!) Their advice was to restore to factory settings for 24 hours and then if the problem didn't happen in those 24 hours, to restore my backup. This will let us know if it's hardware or something in the backup. So their answer combines both of yours.
    Thanks for your help!

Can some decipher what the problem is? Is it hardware related?

  • Phone reboots on its own

My 8520 turns off and reboots on its own several times a day.
    Any solutions?
    Thank you

I haven't particularly noticed that exact point when the problem occurs - on two occasions it happened when I was replying to a message, once it happened when I was listening to music and another time after a long con call. So to answer your question - am not really sure...the reboot occurs unexpectedly. I read on another blog that this is in inherent phone problem and for this person, the seller replaced the phone. Another blog suggested that I format the memory card and hard reset the handset...please suggest...and thank you

  • My ipad freezes, reboots on its own and when I try to restore the machine reboots before the process ends

Just bought this ipad in June 2013 and then all of a sudden about two weeks ago, I discovered the machine reboots on its own and would only be active for less than 2 minutes.  I check the auto-lock assigned minutes and it was set on 15 minutes even at this, it will still go off after less than 2 minutes.  I then checked on some of the suggestions on the net for a similar problem and resolved to pressing and holding the sleep/wake button simultaneously with the Home button to force a reboot.  Even at this no change.  Then I tried connecting the machine to a PC logging on to the itunes to do a backup and restore but the machine will not stay long enough to complete the procedure before rebooting on its own.  Any help?

    Try here:

  • Ultra not booting, reboots on its own, display - possible solution for all.

I had a problem for a few days where my Ultra 24 would stop (the screen would freeze for a sec), the fan would make a lot of noise and the PC would reboot on its owns. Sometimes it would be on a loop or not start up at all.
I perused through these boards and saw other people with similar issues and solutions. (Mine was to take out MB battery and reset bios).
This fixed the problem but it eventually came back at least once a week.
Anyways after calling Sun and spending a lot of time on the phone I determined that this is related to the graphic card. You'll notice that the nvidia driver these workstations come with are really outdated drivers (mine was the quadro nvs 290).
After I updated the driver (05/08) the problem has gone away and graphics perform MUCH better.
I am running running Solaris 10 and XP.
Hope this helps some of you out.

We have a T-Mobile corporate account with several of these 8120's.  We have had them since mid-July and now 3 out of 10 of them are having the reboot issue as well.  We, however, do not have or use any memory cards in them, so I don't think that is the problem either.  We've reinstalled the software (they had the same version as the newest already installed) as tech support has suggested, and still the problem happens.  It happens sometimes when the phone is idle, but most of the time they reboot during a conversation.  This is quite annoying as they are business phones and it takes 3-5 minutes for the phone to complete the reboot process.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Your graphic card is damaged. This could be related to extensions, but the kernel panic gives you the message that your graphic card has failed.
You can only make a backup of your files with Time Machine or Disk Utility's Restore feature, and take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller. Your computer has got the graphic card soldered into the logic board, so this will be a very expensive repair

  • My iPod Touch is freezing and rebooting itself.

    Hi.
    Here's the story:
My iPod was recently working yesterday. I left it on the wall charger for a while, and later I come back to find my iPod frozen, out of nowhere. For another while, it freezes and starts to reboot itself. I done all I can. I watched videos on how to unfreeze it and etc, and I tried restoring it, and doing about everything I can to recover this iPod, it doesn't work. So I turned it off, and let it settle overnight. This morning, I turn it on, and it restored, everything was working fine, until when I go to my Messages app, it freezes once again, and now it is doing the same thing, but this time it repeats to the home screen, freezes, and reboots again. I tried calling for support and they said my warranty is expired.
I own an iPod Touch 4G, 8GB, for about 6 months.
To be specific: It always goes to the Apple logo and then the loading circle then shuts off, then does it again. Before this problem about a day before this happened, I accidentally put a little water on it and wiped it off while I was working on chores. (Sorry, I often have it next to me a lot.) Plus, I did have a lot of data on it but it didn't seem much of a problem.
Please, if anyone can help, tell me what is the reason behind this problem, and at least if you can try to solve this for me. I will try going to a local Apple store later on if this problem keeps going. But for right now, I need this help. Thank you all.
    Bye.

    - Have yu tried letting the battery fully draining and then charging and trying to retore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod?
    - Try placing it is recovery mode and then DFU mode and then restoring if necessary.
    - For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • Why does my mac reboot on its own?

Why does my mac reboot on its own?

Oh den.thed...  I saw your post this morning and I was so excited....  ran to the Mac and got to Energy Saver, and...  the checkbox is already unchecked.
Long story, I'll make it short.  Just got the Mac back after having the HDD replaced.  (It stopped working after less than 500 hours.)  This rebooting thing has been happening ever since I got the computer in 2010, and I was hoping it would coincidentally stop happening after having this crashed HDD replaced last week.  No such luck.  Still doing it, even after getting the computer back from Apple.  Two of my kids have macbooks, have used the cr*p out of them, and have had very few problems (nothing big).  I bought this Mac, to replace a dead Dell desktop that got very little use, and so far I am not sure I did the right thing.  Really wish I could get this "automatic" rebooting thing fixed.  (Reboots with no notice, while doing normal tasks - internet, word docs, etc.)  Thanks again for your help.  Let me know if I should try anything else.

  • I have this problem were my iphone just reboots on its own

I have recently upgraded to io6 and my iphone 4 cdma started rebooting on its own. I took it to a store and they said to take the battery out because it was overheating. So now i lay with a iphone without a battery. Is there any way were i can take it to the apple store so they can fix it?

Check your mouse configuration, if you have a Mighty Mouse, one configuration is to have the side buttons launch Dashboard (widgets) or click the scroll wheel for example.
