RankMirrors Isn't Working on My Server

For some reason my server fails to connect to the Pacman mirror:
Server = ftp://ftp.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/linux/di … /os/x86_64
So I wanted to change the mirror to the next best performing one however when I tried to run 'rankmirrors', it fails:
[root@ghost ~]# mv /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.org
[root@ghost ~]# rankmirrors -n 5 /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.org > /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
/usr/bin/rankmirrors: line 59: curl: command not found
/usr/bin/rankmirrors: line 61: >= 400 || ! : syntax error: operand expected (error token is ">= 400 || ! ")
Anyone know how I can fix this?

Inxsible wrote:rankmirrors does not work anymore. it just gives the mirrors back in alphabetical order. Try selecting a geographically nearby mirror manually.
That sucks. I see now that it's noted in the Wiki.

  • Bulk Project Site option isn't working in project server 2010 migrated from PS 2007.

    Hi,
I am doing a test migration from epm 2007 to epm 2013.
So first, i need to migrate the project server 2007 to project server 2010. i have 2 separate environments for EPM 2007 and EPM 2010).
there is no problem in migration process and i successfully migrate entire PWA 2007 to 2010, except Workspaces (Project sites).
Bulk project site option is not helping. I have tried 4-5 times with different PWA 2007 databases (PWA1, PWA2...) but this option did not work. and errors in queue are WSSWebDoesNotExist(16405) and GeneralQueueJobFailed(26000).
Then next time while migrating all over again i kept the same port and same PWA name then bulk project site option worked.
Question is, Do i need to keep the same PWA name and same port for the new upgraded PWA??,  one more issue regarding this is that if don't keep the same PWA name and i open the project site and click on the "Project web app" back link, it
redirects me to old PWA site which doesn't exist and give me page not found error (Obviously).
Below, you can see the both scenarios.
my previous PWA 2007 site, say  - http://epm2007:2222/PWA
When  -  migrated PWA 2010 site, say  - http://epm2010:3000/NewPWA    (Bulk project site update just doesn't work)
When -  migrated PWA 2010 site, say  - http://epm2010:2222/PWA    (Bulk project site update worked)
Whats the solution of this problem. is there any utility or query to link all project sites correctly?
Will i face the same problem while migrating PS 2010 to PS 2013??
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I would say it is easier to keep the same PWA name between 2007 and 2010 (no need to have the same port).
If you want to move to a new PWA URL maybe you can use stsadm backup/restore as detailed in this article?

  • "Back to my Mac isn't working properly because your DNS server isn't responding. Contact your ISP for an alternate DNS server address, and enter it in Network Preferences".

Hi, i am trying to setup back to my mac at home but I get the error "Back to my Mac isn't working properly because your DNS server isn't responding. Contact your ISP for an alternate DNS server address, and enter it in Network Preferences".
There is no documentation on how to solve this anywhere.
I have an Arris router set to bridged mode which is connected to a 5th generation airport extreme. I have tried using the google dns servers instead of the one assigned by the cable company in the AE but I still get the same error.
Any help would be much appreciated

New to BTMM, I got stung today with the silly DNS problem message. Solution:
    1) Flush DNS cache with:
    dscacheutil -flushcache;sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
2)System preferences > iCloud > untick BTMM then tick it again. The warning should have disappeared.
    Edit #1
Apologies for the noise. The warning has come back
    Edit #2
Just found out that BTMM is not compatible with double NAT. That's not helpful.

  • Best way to replace WSUS Server that isn't working?

Hi, this is a followup (aka admission of defeat) to the post linked below.  Our SCCM installation was done in a hurry by one of my Coworkers about two months ago, and there are a few areas which are incomplete.   One of them happens
to be software updates.   I have spent a great deal of time trying to troubleshoot why our clients aren't updating, and am realizing that my time might be better spent just replacing the WSUS server.
Our setup:  All servers are hosted on Hyper-v.  SCCM 2012R2 is on server 2012R2.  The sql server runs on sql server 2012, on seperate 2012R2 machine.  WSUS is currently set up on a 2012 R2 machine, but it isn't working.  The WSUS
server is configured to use the same SQL server instance as the SCCM server.
If I take the step of replacing the WSUS machine, what would the best path be? Should I:
Remove the software update point site system role as as described at the end of this document,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712312.aspx    then just turn off the current wsus server?
If so, do I need to worry about the SQL server, or can I just go about configuring a new WSUS server and adding it back in to SCCM?
If anyone can point me to their favorite list of step by step instructions for getting software updates working with SCCM, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Kevin
    My post from yesterday:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/b07516e4-757e-4ba8-889f-a33374a2c370/updates-not-applying-scan-failed-with-error-0x80072efd?forum=configmanagersecurity

Yes, Thank you!  I did reinstall WSUS on a new server, which turned out not to be the root of my problem (Although, confirming that it was done properly was worth the time).
After reinstalling WSUS, I was still getting the error:
Group policy settings were overwritten by a higher authority (Domain Controller) to: Server and Policy NOT CONFIGURED WUAHandler 4/9/2014 5:43:01 PM 3344 (0x0D10)
After a bit more searching, I found someone suggesting setting the "Allow signed updates" group policy to not configured, in addition to  the "Specify intranet Microsoft Update Service Location".
I also read that the SCCM client will take care of most update settings, so I also set "Configure Automatic Updates", and "Turn on recommended updates via automatic updates" to Not Configured, and my Endpoint Protection began updating nicely.
Thanks for pointing me to Gerry's site, it's a great resource!
    Thanks also for helping.

  • Help!  VPN with Leopard & Leopard server isn't working!

    Hello all,
I have tried (and tried, and tried) to get VPN to work on Leopard server v10.5.1 and I cannot get this to work no matter what I have tried. here is my setup:
    Router:
New Airport Extreme Base station running firmware v7.1.1. I have my server open to the world (for this test)

  • Get-Hotfix InstalledOn property not returning hotfix installed Date and Time on Windows Server 2008 SP2 but works on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

    Hi,
I am working on a validation script to get the list of hotfixes installed on Domain Controllers every month as part of our monthly DC patching process. I have been successful in getting these details for DC's with (Windows Server 2008
R2 SP1, Powershell v2.0) using the below command.
    Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object PSComputerName,HotFixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d) | FT -AutoSize
I execute the above from a jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2)
However, when I try the same command from the jump box to query DC's with (Server 2008 SP2, powershell v2.0). It doesn't return the InstalledOn date and time. It was giving error for the InstalledOn property and hence I renamed it to $_.InstalledOn. Now
I don't get error but still no details displayed for InstalledOn property.
I tried using the below, as could see on few forums that this might resolve the issue. I also tried removing the "where" part but still no installation date returned.
    Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotFixID, Description, InstalledBy, @{l="InstalledOn";e={[DateTime]::Parse($_.psbase.properties["installedon"].value,$([System.Globalization.CultureInfo]::GetCultureInfo("en-US")))}}
    | where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSize
Have tried this locally on the 2008 SP2 DC but still not working. Please advise what is going wrong?
Note: If I execute the below command locally on the 2008 SP2 DC, I am getting the InstalledOn output. However, when executed from the jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2) to query
the same 2008 SP2 DC, it just gives the prompt again without any error or output. This behavior is consistent for other 2008 SP2 DC's in the environment.
    Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotfixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSize

Hi jrv, I have already tried the Win32_QuickFixEngineering option, which doesn't work either. Apologies for not mentioning the workarounds that I have already tried.
Get-Hotfix seems to be just a wrapper for Win32_QuickFixEngineering as per the below article. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh849836.aspx)
I have seen a mention of using the WU ActiveX control on few forums, but was too lazy to read it through.
After rigorous testing, it makes me realize that somewhere the Get-Hotfix dates formatting\comparison isn't working.

  • Why blocking sites using Hosts file isn't working?

    Hello
I need to block a few websites on my home computer. Did a quick search and found out I had to work with the hosts files. So opened up Notepad, ran it as Admin and then opened Hosts and at the bottom added ' 127.0.0.1 facebook.com' then saved the file. But
facebook is still opening when I go to the page.
can someone tell me why  using the Hosts file isn't working?
I did read somewhere that it might have something to do with security features on my system. FYI, I m using a trial version of Norton Anti Virus and I am running a Windows 7 machine.
Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure your entry was in fact saved to the hosts file?  The hosts file on my computer blocks unwanted sites.

  • Back to my mac isn't working properly

After downloading Mavericks, (which went without a hitch), I am now receiving an error in system preferences stating: Back to my Mac isn't working properly
because the DNS server isn't responding. Contact your internet service provider for a different DNS server address, enter it in Network preferences and try again.
In reality everything wireless is working; the internet the printer iPad works fine.
I went to the Airport utility and clicked on my Time Capsule and it states: Change Airport base station from using DHCP and NAT to Bridge mode.
I done that and everything related to the wireless router runs real slow, I mean real slow. It took just under 4 minutes for my Time Capsule to recognize the computer. Due to this I received all kinds of errors from the printer from Airport Utility and the iPad.
I need a fix please, I've read all the support documents related to this in the support community and either the answers given I have tried with no success or they do not relate to my situuation.
Thank you for looking at this, I only hope you have a valid answer.
    Jerry

New to BTMM, I got stung today with the silly DNS problem message. Solution:
    1) Flush DNS cache with:
    dscacheutil -flushcache;sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
2)System preferences > iCloud > untick BTMM then tick it again. The warning should have disappeared.
    Edit #1
Apologies for the noise. The warning has come back
    Edit #2
Just found out that BTMM is not compatible with double NAT. That's not helpful.

  • Debugger isn't working

    Hi,
For some reason, JSC debugger isn't working, it doesn't stop at break point at all before executing that line.
I tried setting breakpoints in various functions, unfortunately debugger doesn't stop at ANY of the break points.
So, I tried creating a small project with just one page and single button with a breakpoint in button1_action() method, surprisingly debugger stopped at breakpoint.
I wonder why its not working in my current project.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    cheers

My particular problem was an exception being raised (NullPointer as far as I remember), caused by my code that prevented the debugger to stop at breakpoints. I found the problem searching in the application server logs. For some reason I don't recall, the exception just was logged insted to be reported to the ide.
If everything else fails, you may try this approach.

  • MSI TV Card doesn't work in Windows Server 2003 !!!

    Hi All,
I have bought a MSI TV Tuner (TV @nywhere series)
I Installed it on Windows XP and it works properly.
But I Installed it on Windows Server 2003 and noticed that it's not working at all !
It's TV Tuner , however, doesn't work good (It has a weak receiving power). I'm using it as a Radio (MSI Radio). But even the Radio is not working under Windows Server 2003.
I want to know what's the problem ? What Driver should I use ?
I have Installed the same driver in Windows 2003, Because there isn't any Windows 2003-specific driver included in the CD-ROM of this package.
Please guide me what should I do. I need Windows Server 2003 to be my OS. I want to know if this TV Tuner isn't supposed to work on Windows 2003 Server ? It's only desingated for Windows XP and prior ? What's the solution ?

    Hi
    what a pitty !
You are a known company and you DON'T KNOW !! if your hardward can work in Windows Server 2003 or not (:|
Or maybe you don't assume Windows Server 2003 as an Operating System !
Also I checked the TV Tuner Driver Pages in your site, but I found that you don't have ANY driver for Windows Server 2003
It's exactly the driver I have on MSI CD-ROM. As you can see above, it's telling There's no support for Win2003 !!!
       Your System OS Win9X/ME/2000/XP(22710KB)
Now you see ? Even in the manufactory you haven't tested and it was not important for this comany if their hardware can or cannot work on Win2003.
Maybe you have designed it especially for Windows XP and prior.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW THIS !!!
    bye

There's nothing wrong with how GC works. If you don't give it anything to collect, it won't collect anything. You are simply not allowing enough memory to get anything done. As the other responder said, bump up the max mem to at least 1g. If it still fails, set it even higher. I can't tell what platform you're on, but if you're on Windows, you may be limited to about 1536m.

Hey guys, who's game center on mountain lion isn't working either? It tells me that there is no connection to the server. I already added it to the firewall list, but it didn't change anything.
    Thx for your help!

    Hey,
    I had the same issue.
The issue is kind of the same people had with facetime at the release of OSX 10.7
The issue was related to custom entries in the file /etc/hosts
Check if you have edited the file /etc/hosts (using terminal)
If you did, temporarily remove all custom edits from it till it looks like this:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1       localhost
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1             localhost
    fe80::1%lo0     localhost
Save the file and afterwards run the following command in terminal: dscacheutil -flushcache
After this try logging in to Game Center again and it should work.
Once the login in succesful, you can reapply the custom settings in the /etc/hosts file. Game Center will continue to work.
    Hope this helps.
    With kind regards,
