Rasterize plugin for indesign?

Hi
I'm looking for a way to rasterize parts of an indesign document when exporting it to pdf.
Why?
- We don't like to send many vectorial stuff like a new logo for example to customers that didn't pay yet (we had some abuse in the past)
- Filesize: documents with links to complex illustrations can still be quiet big when exporting at "Smallest File Size" (10MB+, which can give email trouble)
- To be sure the file looks and prints the same at every computer (not talking about color, but to avoid strange pdf artifacts)
We use a great script (made by Kasyan from this forum) which exports a pdf and than rasterizes the pdf into photoshop. But offcourse than the whole pdf is rasterized. There are many cases that i need to rasterize some part but leave other parts as text or vectors.
Like for example, draw an area that needs to be rasterized, or tell what objects that should rasterize.
Is there such a thing for indesign?
I came across a plugin called Triple Triangle Raster Write for indesign CS2. Unfortunately it's been discontinued so i can't test it.
Thanks!

Security is seldom an issue for me and not the reason for my inquiry. However, the pdf-security can often be broken with tools like http://freeware-pdf-unlocker.en.softonic.com/.
About "the problem", it seems there are a bit confusion out there, so I will try to describe a specific work-flow - a work-flow I know I share with many people:
Overall I produce my artwork in Illustrator as a combination of images and vectors. For instance, I often have an orthographic photo on which I draw my vectors (the combination of raster and vector produces huge .ai- and .pdf-files) This PDF (or .ai) is at some point put into an InDesign document but the process is always iterative meaning I go back an forth constantly making changes in both my Illustrator files and my layout in InDesign. When the document is finished, the customer asks for two versions of the final document; one for print/press and one for web.
The final document often has a file size of 40 mb despite it containing 'only' 20-30 pages and only 10 inserted PDFs - this is due to the combination of images and vectors in the inserted PDFs. In order to get a good quality document for WEB I now have to open the PDFs in Photoshop in approx. 600 dpi and saving them out as JPG. Then I have to re-link everything in InDesign and saving that as a new FINAL document.
This means I have spent a lot of time converting AND I am now juggling with two InDesign version of the same document. You may think, what's the big deal - it's the FINAL doc but in reality final documents have a tendency of being revised (over and over) for a million of equally valid reasons.
Not to mention, that sometimes I make multiple different 'zooms' in InDesign in the same original illustration from illustrator. To ensure good quality I have to open the PDF in Photoshop in 1200 dpi and saving it as a huge JPG. Or I have to create multiple artboards in Illustrator only for that purpuse, which also has the annoying side-effect of me needing to re-align everything in the frames in InDesign...
So there you have it. Sounds easy?

  • Where do I download essential plugins for InDesign CS 5.5?

    Hi. I have InDesign CS 5.5, but can't open a file that is also 5.5. The error I get is telling me to download latest plugins. I've downloaded updates but it's still not working. Any ideas?

    Questions for a specific product should be asked in the respective forum. For InDesign, ask here:

  • HSB color plugin for InDesign?

    I know it exists because I had it on an older computer; a plugin for using the HSB color space. Right now we only have CMYK, RGB and LAB. HSB is better for controlling the properties of colors individually and I could really use it.
    Any clues as to where I can find something like that?

    I installed it and yes, it works great! basically you choose "New HEX swatch" from the swatches pallette and a box comes up where you can input the hex number or BETTER YET, click on that curious button that reads "Current Photoshop Foreground Color":
    Although still no HSB, this will work for matching colors from Photoshop. Thanks!
    (I'll still look for that plugin and report back when I find it.)

  • Graph plugins for Indesign and Illustrator

    Hi.
    Anyone used any decent CC plugins for generating graphs more easily than they are in Illustrator?

    Hello Paul bloxham
    I don’t know much about any decent plugins for Illustrator, however I sometimes make graphs using Microftsoft Word then export/copy into Illustrator, then manipulate within illustrator if needed, not used Apples Numbers or other free software as yet to make any comment, but I do get satisfactory results from using Word.
    Hope this is of help.

  • Visual Studio compiling 64 Bit Plugin for InDesign Server CS5

    Hello guys,
    Again I have a problem compiling 64 bit plugins, but this time in windows environments, the 32 bit compiling works fine (also on 64 bit machines). The first thing I've done was creating a new project configuration for 64 bit environments copying the 32 bit settings. Now I changed the precompiled libraries to use the 64 bit ones and changed the output directories. After that the compilation process completed without errors, but the resource files have not been copied to the output directory (the directory for them has been created, but it remains empty). Adding the created plugin into the servers directory ends up with a server message that the plugin could not be recognized. Have I missed something that is necessary for compiling 64 bit plugins?
    I'm using the 64 Bit Developer Version of the indesign server CS5. The operating system is a Windows Server 2008 x64 R2 with Visual Studio 2008.
    Thanks!
    P.S. a plugin compiled with 32 bit settings (including 32 bit libraries) also works for the 64 bit version of the server, so does it make any difference if I'm using 32 bit or 64 bit libraries?

    The libraries were all correct (all using 64-bit).  The problem was a pathing issue.  libxml2 needs iconv.dll, but it couldn't find the 64-bit version that I built.  Once it found it, everything worked correctly.
    The funny thing about depends.exe is that it isn't right all the time.  For example, if you open one of the 64-bit .aip files that ships with Illustrator (rename it to .dll first), you'll see what I'm talking about.  It complains that you're mixing x86 and x64 CPU types, even though you're not.
    The program I used to discover my issue is Process Monitor (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx).  I've been using it for years and love it.

  • Shared Content InDesign Plugin for InDesign CS4 won't open file

    Yesterday I discontinued using Adobe CC and went back to using my Adobe InDesign CS4.  CS4 is working OK but there is ONE file that won't open.  I get the message "Shared Content InDesign Plugin is currently not available on your system".  The file will not open. Is there a workaround or how do I get the required plugin?

    You get that error when the file was saved in CS5 or later. You can find out the version using the script at Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File.
    You'll need to export the file to .idml from the newer version to be able to open it in CS4. This is something I normally offer to do, but I'm not available for at least a week, so perhaps one of our other regulars can step up and volunteer.

  • Kindle Plugin for InDesign/Ebook

    Hi. I want to publish my ebooks on Amazon, by jusing the latest version of InDesign - CS5.5 on my iMac. BUT I'm having trouble installing Amazons kindle-plugin, which should make you able to export your InDesign file directly into kindle-format. Whenever I try to install it, in the end, a pop-up says "Installation failed"! What have I done wrong?
    Please comment if you have any suggestions!
    Kind Regards

    I haven’t really read overwhelmingly great things about the kindle plugin.
    Try exporting to EPUB and then converting to MOBI using Calibre.

  • Long to int32 conversion issues in Xcode 5.0.2 when building plugin for Indesign CC 2014

    Hi, I am trying to build one of the sample plugin WriteFishPrice from the SDK on mac System
    I am using Xcode 5.0.2 as per the documentation, but I am encountering the below errors during compilation.
    In UnicodeSavvyString.h
    template <class FwdIterator>
    inline void UnicodeSavvyString::assign_impl(FwdIterator b, FwdIterator e, size_type nCodePoints, std::forward_iterator_tag)
      const difference_type nCodeValues = std::distance(b, e);
      ASSERT(nCodeValues >= 0);
    // Make room for the chars
      code_value* buffer = GetBufferForWriting(nCodeValues);  // <----Implicit conversion loses integer precision long to int
    // Copy them into the buffer
      std::copy(b, e, buffer);
    // Ensure terminating null
      buffer[nCodeValues] = code_value();
      fUTF16BufferLength = nCodeValues;                         // <----Implicit conversion loses integer precision long to int
    // Calculate how many code points we will have at the end
      if (nCodePoints == 0 && nCodeValues)
      fNumChars = CountCharsUtil(buffer, nCodeValues);          // <----Implicit conversion loses integer precision long to int
    else
      ASSERT((size_type)CountCharsUtil(buffer, nCodeValues) == nCodePoints);
      fNumChars = nCodePoints;
    And similar errors are coming in WideString.h.
    Can some one tell me what is wrong with the new SDK? Or if I need to make some changes in these files which surely is not advisable.

    Hi kapoor_aman27,
    this is just a warning, because the size of the string is stored as an int32 and some function has Argument with type int32. You can change the compiler setting "Treat Warnings as Errors" to "No". Then it is only a warning and you can ignore it as long as you use string with less than 4GB.

  • Develop plugin for indesign server

    Hi,
    i donno if this question is really trivial or if i'm just approaching this the wrong way. I need to develop a plugin that i'll have to run using indesign server. I have been reading the sdk documentations and trying to understand whatever i can. I've also developed the writefishprice plugin, however from what i understand that one won't run in the server. Is there any documentation that i can read that'll get me started on this, right now i feel like i'm between a rock and a hard place. any help will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    Paul

    Hello,
    Even I have developed an Indesign server plugin, but I also face the problem in its invokation. I have read " indesign-server-plugin-techniques.pdf". It talks about how to make your plugin so as to make it compatible with indesign server, but doesn't talks about how does the server plugin gets invoked??
    Kindly help.

  • Low-cost advertising management plugins for InDesign

    Hey, does anyone have recommendations for an ad-placement and tracking system that isn't complete overkill? I have a client that puts out one (HUGE!) publication a year, a 600+ page directory with dozens of ads in it. This is the 26th year of publication, and they have never tried to use any publishing system to spec, sell and place the ads, nor have they ever got to the point of creating a standard advertising sales sheet.
    Things like DPS AdTracker are in the four figures, but this requirement doesn't justify that kind of overhead. Does anyone have suggestions of tools that might fit the requirement?
    Thanks in Advance!
    Bruce

    If you can go the extra bucks for the RenMaxx bundle, you'll get the IR-L, Rverb, and Tune LT as well. I'm a Platinum owner and I've been using the Rvox a lot lately.
    I think the IR-L comes with better IRs than Space Designer.
    The WUP on it would be 6-12%/year. Probably about $50/year to keep it current; less than that if you buy multiple years. You get the first year free.
    ...and Waves v6 will be out by the end of the year, so you'll automatically get that for no charge. They have promised full Waveburner support with v6.
    Otherwise, the Musician's II bundle also includes some warmer-sounding plugins than Logic's. The doubler is also nice and comes with both bundles.
    If you want a clean EQ for not much money, Roger Nichols Digital now has a graphic EQ for $69 retail. A demo is available.

  • Updating plugins for inDesign CS5

    This has surely been discussed and answered prior to today but I can't find any mention other than a Search uncovering dozens of torrents.
    I frequently get a message I need to update my in-design plugins but can't find a link to an adobe download. Any help appreciated.

    I inherited the job of recovering files created during the period of time my company used Adobe CC and after analysis decided to go back to using CS5 and CS6 software they had purchased. I'm forming the opinion now that it will be easier for me to simply reconstruct the documents either in another program or ID CS5. There may be serious differences between CS5 and CC versions but for the publications this company produce, I can't find any useful difference between the two versions or at any rate, nothing I can't overcome with CS5.
    I'm not surprised to discover what you've said seems to be correct. Just another example of too much focus on profit and not enough on product perfection. When I compare some of my magazines created with an Atari system, the only functional difference is the colour and the layout. Both of which could be easily brought into line with current design trends. I agree absolutely with your description of the message. All it seems to have done is create a plethora of virus riddled torrents unknowing people are poisoning their computers with.
    Thanks for the reply. I think this company's answer is to recreate those documents that were not converted to .dml files before removing CC from their workstations.
