RD Web access SSO - remote desktop doesn't work

Hi,
This is my first post in here, and I hope you gays can help me out.
I am currently experiencing some issues with RD Web SSO not working as I would like it to work.  I have found countless articles and guides describing how to get it to work, but no guide have yet helped me.
The problem is that when I log in on the web access and open a published application everything works fine I wait 5 sec and the application pups up, but when I try to open "Remote Desktop" then I get a new log in box where I must enter my log in credentials
again (after entering my credentials everything work great.)
The problems I am currently facing is produced in a demo environment configured as follows:
1x DC server (DC01) also the lic server
2x RDS server (RDS01/02)
1x RDS Connection broker (RDCM01)   I have created a farm named "farm01.mydomain.com"
1x RDS Web access server (RDWA01)
1x RDS Gateway (RDSGW01)
(All the Servers are installed with Windows server 2008 (R2) SP1, and have the latest update.)
I am publishing my demo environment on the internet, i have created a domain name for my gateway and my web access and they are both accessible from the web (rdwa.mydomain.com and rdsgw.mydomaim,com). I also have secured everything with an SSL wildcard certificate
( my external and intern domain names are the same so I am using one SSl certificate) that is trusted on the web.
when I  log in on the web access server trough (IE9 or IE8 ) from another network(wan) and I open a published application (calculator), it pop ups in just a few seconds. But when I try to open my Remote desktop I get a login box where I must enter my
username and password one more time.. after that remote desktop opens and everything works great.
My laptop is a Windows 7 professional with RDP 7 and IE 9, and is not member of a domain (just a workstation), I have tested it from multiple workstations and networks(Also win 7 and RDP7) but even there I have the same problem.
Thinks that I have tried tell now:
I have created a kerberos account as mentioned on
MSDN
I have checked my group permissions as mentioned
here
And many more blogs and forums
I have tried multiple settings on RDCM, RDWA, RDSGW and RDS server
Right now I am out of ideas, and I hope you gays can help me out..
thanks in advance,
Pouyan

Thnx for you advise,
Did you go into your RemoteApp Deployment settings and change the server name to the farm name "farm01.mydomain.com?"
Yes
Also in the Session Broker's RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Properties window change the Connection ID to the farm name as well.
actually I couldn't find out what to put on the connection ID so I had left it just default, but after changing it to the farm name it still doesn't work
Did you sign you apps with the cert used on your RDS servers?
yes, I am using a wildcard ssl certificate to sign all the servers/apps with.
there is
something that
strikes me, when I log on the web access and click on a published application (that is hosted from the same RDS servers) then I get a information box. when I click on the "details" button I see on the bottom "use the following credentials to connect" and my
domain and username are published there. But when I click on the "Remote desktop" icon and do the same I can't see this information!!
Also I don't think that its an SSL problem, because after log in again it works perfect without any warning.

  • Web Access for Remote Desktop on Windows Server 2012

    Hello,
i've a Windows Server 2012 without a domain. So i installed the remote desktop session host, the remote desktop license server and the remote desktop gateway as a server role only. All is working fine. Without a domain, no management tools for remote
desktop are available. So i configure the remote desktop via the registry. I define (via registry) some remoteapps, too. All values are copied from a running Windows Server 2008 R2. So the remoteapps are runing.
Now i want to use the new Microsoft Remote Desktop client for Android. To use a remoteapp i must define a remote resource. To define a remote resource i need a url to the web access for remote desktop. So i installed the web access. But if i login to the
web access, i don't see any remoteapp. What's wrong? I've set the ShowInTSWA to 1. What must i do to access an existing remoteapp via web access?
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
Server 2012 RD Web Access is designed to retrieve published RemoteApps and Desktops from a Server 2012 RD Connection Broker and/or a Server 2008 R2 RD Session Host server.  From your description it doesn't appear that you are using either of the above.
I know it is a more complicated set up, but you should consider having a domain, creating a RDS deployment, etc., so that you can use the full featureset as it was intended.  You can do it all on a single server if needed.  For Server 2012
there is a hotfix that needs to be applied to permit RD Connection Broker to work on the same server instance as active directory.

  • Remote Desktop doesn't work with local printer

I am having trouble using a locally networked printer when I use Remote Desktop to connect to a Vista machine.  Under the local resources tab for RD, I have checked printers.  The only thing I can figure is that my printer is networked locally, not connected directly to my machine.  Every time I try to print during my remote desktop session, I can't access my locally networked printer.
I installed the printer drivers on the remote computer and when I try to locate the printer, I get the following error: "Windows cannot connect to the printer.  Server print spooler service is not running..." but the spooler service IS runing.
I also found a post elsewhere that discussed setting 'share permissions' and 'network permissons' to resovle the spooler error.  Still no go.
I tried to plug in my printer to a local USB port this morning.  Still would not work.  I keep getting the same spooling error.  The drivers are not corrupt, as others have indicated may be the cause.  They work fine on my system locally with 7.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I've spent a few hours on this one and am at a loss at this point.
Please help.  I really need to print locally.

My problem was that the Vista remote system never saw local port that my printer was using for some reason and it never accepted the path noted above (\\servername\printer)...always came back with an error that it was an invalid path.  This was with it both networked and plugged in via USB port.
I finally figued it out after four days and many hours on the phone with Microsoft.  Microsoft support claimed that it was related to my router settings, but I didn't believe it since the remote computer saw my iPhone just fine when it was connected locally.  After simply playing around, here's what I found...it was actually quite basic!
On the remote system, when you try to add a 'local' printer, there's a drop down menu with a list of local ports that your remote system sees.  Some of those will be on the remote system, but others will be on your local system.  Make a note of the ones that are seen on your local system.  In my case, LPT1 was not visible, but COM3 was.
Next, on your local system, in the settings for your functioning printer (Printer Properties, Ports Tab), there's a tick box that says "Enable Printer Pooling."  Once you check that box, you can select multiple ports on your local machine.  Here, you need to tick the box that your remote system is seeing (in my case, it's COM3), but make sure that your exisitng port remains checked as well (in my case, an IP port for my wireless router).  Basically what you're doing is on your local system, you are pooling your exising printer setup with a port that can be seen by your remote system.
Then, on the remote system, install the printer drivers but don't select a port.  Then go into Printers and add a printer.  Select 'local' setup for that and when asked for the port, use the port you checked in the previous step on your local system (in my case, I selected COM3 on my local system).  Select your printer from the list.  It will ask if you want to use the exisiting drivers...say yes.  Then print a test page to be sure that it works.  Worked fine for me.
I simply can't believe how obvsious that solution was!  If the remote system can't see the port you currently use, pool your printer setup with a port that it can see!

  • Apple Remote Desktop doesn't work on outside connections

I use Remote Desktop to control computers at another location from my computer at home (cable modem. This worked fine with my old (non Apple) router. I have upgraded to the dual band Airport Extreme and now Remote Desktop tells me that computers are offline (when they aren't)
How do I get Remote Desktop working? The Airport Extreme is not in double nat-mode.

Let's double-check your port mapping settings for ARD:
To setup port mapping on an DB 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.
    Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address
    o Click Continue.
o MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    o Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
    o Public UDP Port(s): 3283
    o Public TCP Port(s): 3283
o Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>
    o Private UDP Port(s): 3283

  • RD Web Access SSO not working correctly

I have two Win 2008 r2 sp1 servers.  Both are RD Session host servers.  One of them is also serving as a RD Gateway server AND RD Web access server.  Most everything is working well and as planned.  However, I am having an issue with
    the the RD Web Access.
In the RD Web access server configuration page, I've set "One or more RemoteApp sources" and I've added two servers there, separated by a semicolon (eg RDServer1;RDServer2), and as expected a long list of RemoteApps hosted on both servers is shown .  The
issue is that whatever server is listed second (eg RDServer2) won't allow sso to work right  -- when I click a link for a RemoteApp hosted on RDServer1 I am not prompted again for login credentials.  However, when clicking a link for a RemoteApp
hosted on RDServer2 I am prompted "Enter Your Credentials".  I've tried swapping the order of the "Source Name" servers, and after a reboot indeed links to the RemoteApps hosted on that second server now prompt for me to "Enter your credentials".
    Things I've tried:
    1. Trying various server name formats (IP address, NetBIOS name, FQDN, and more) to no apparent effect.
    2. Applied the hotfix from KB2524668 to both servers.
    3. Flushed the IE caches for the client machines.
    4.  Tried various AD login accounts
    5. Ensuring that the RD Web Access server is added to the local group "TS Web Access Computers" on both servers.
This is one step that I'm not 100% sure of -- it is clear to me that the RD Session host server that doesn't contain RD Web access should be there, but I'm not totally clear as to whether the dual-duty RD Web server/RD Session host should have this setting.
I've tried it both ways, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
    I'm stumped.

    Kevin,
That's it!  I have a separate SSL cert for each RD Session Host, and used the corresponding certs to sign RemoteApps for each.  I still don't see this requirement in the documentation (although they do mention exporting self-signed certs, but that
is due to the fact that they are self-signed and not automatically trusted by client machines), but maybe I'm just blind.
Regardless, the fix to my problem was to export the cert from my RDServer1, import it to RDServer2, then set RDServer2 to use that cert to sign the RemoteApp connections.
Thanks for your assistance, I was really stuck.
    Chris

  • Accessing a Remote Desktop

I would like to access a remote desktop. Apple gives information on setting up your own remote desktop to be able to access the Mac but I need to use my Mac to access another remote desktop. Is this possible and if so, how?

If you want to share the screen of another Mac, see:
    http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-turn-on-screen-sharing-in-mac-os-x- lion.html
If you want to access a Windows system, download Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac.
    Regards.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Stopped Working when Disconnecting

Hi I have a fresh clean install of Windows 8.1. Whenever I RDP into another Windows 8 machine... upong disconnecting I get the error: "Remote Desktop Connection Stopped Working"
I have tried not mapping to remote printers, or drives (smart cards etc.) and it still persists. When I remote to Windows Server or Win 7, it does not happen.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you

FYI, same issue here, Windows 8.1 on ThinkPad W520 (upgraded from Windows 8).
Even without Fingerprint Manager, and having uninstalled ThinkVantage Password Manager as well, still crashes.  I also tried the:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
but no luck, my mstsc.exe is still crashing when the remote session window is closed.
Any ideas?  Happy to upload/provide more details, here's the Report.wer contents from

Working with LabView 7.1, database con. toolset.
    Who can HELP?
    Thanks a lot
    Marco

    Hello,
I think that If exist is not a standar SQL command (I know it exists I think in Oracle and SQL server), MS access doesn't support it, so I think the best way to do it is first make a Select and then either an Update or an insert, sorry...

I have turned home share on my iPhone and my Apple TV and the remote app doesn't work all of the sudden. How can I fix this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you updated to the latest version of the Remote App.

  • Earbuds remote control doesn't work anymore!

    Hi!
I've had an iPhone 4 since September 2010, and I've always used the earbuds that came with him. They used to work great until this week.
Now, it's buillt-in remote control doesn't work anymore.By that I mean I can not skip, pause or even use voice control through the earbuds.
And this probably isn't an iPhone problem, because I tested these earbuds in my iPad 2 and the remote control still doesn't work.
I noticed that the rubber that used to cover the cable itself is coming off, especially near the remote control area.
Is there a fix for these unresponsive controls?
Or what Apple email I should reach in order to ask them about this issue?
    Thanks!
My iPhone 4 is running iOS 5.0 and so is my iPad 2.

Is your phone locked in portrait orientation? I've found that for some reason my controls will not work when my portrait orientation is locked.
Try double-clicking the main button, and then sliding your thumb right. You should get some controls at the bottom of your screen, and the button on the far left is the Portrait Lock button. Try unlocking your phone, and see if your earbuds will then work.
    Hope that might help!

  • Remote Desktop sound stops working after a while.

Has anyone a solution to this problem of the sound just dropping out of a RDP connection after a day or two?
Win Server2008 (32 bit) running as a Terminal Server.
    WIN 7 Clients (32 bit)
Sound is absolutely critical on the program being ran on the WIN7 clients when connecting via RDP to the Server 24/7.
But the sound just stops working on the RDP clients after a day or two.
If I minimize the RDP session and try the sound from the native windows session it works, but sound is not working within the RDP session.
and it takes a restart of the RDP session to restore sound, but then aftera day or two I get a call to say the sound is no longer working- a restart of the RDP sessions restores the sound.
I have checked the Environment sound settings in the RDP setup on the clients and have them set to play on the client, and I have checked that sound is not disabled in the Terminal Server end of things for RDP sessions.
I would really appreciate to help with this if anyone has suggestions.

OK after updating the Server and clients I am still having this issue :(
and just today after no sound problems for 6 days the sound dropped out on a couple of RDP sessions, yet the sound on the client itself worked fine when tested (minimise the RDP session).
It took the RDP sessions to be restarted to restore the sound within the session.
I have found similar (old) thread regarding this problem:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/958fd891-6f55-432b-8268-a326ac6b2b2e/sound-in-remote-desktop-session-stops-working
but no one has informed about if as solution was ever found.

  • Can't access SSL-secured web content from Remote Desktop Server

I am running RDS on Windows Server 2008R2. No Remote App or Gateway Services, just straight up Remote Desktop.
After making a RDP connection to the server, when trying to access any SSL-secured website, Internet Explorer displays the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" with a button labeled "Diagnose Connection Problems." It's the same generic
IE message that appears when DNS lookups fail. This failure to make SSL connections also manifests itself with Exchange autodiscover not working.
Strangely enough, Administrator is able to make SSL connections just fine, just not any other users. The server is otherwise completely functional.

    Hi cyborganic,
To narrow down this issue, Would you like to confirm the following questions:
    1.
Does this issue exist when accessing all secured web sites or just some of them? Please try to access
    https://www.microsoft.com.
    Does it work?
    2.
Does this issue exist when a user logs on to the console of the problematic server and then access a secure web site? In this way, we can isolate whether the problem is related
    to RDS.
    3.
You mentioned that administrator can access properly. As a test, can a problematic user be able to access the SSL site properly if you add him/her to the Administrators group
    temporarily?
Meanwhile, Please help to make sure the “Cryptographic services” is set to Automatic Start.
Here, There are some suggestions for
    General troubleshooting
    Suggestion #1:
    =====================================================================
Run the Network Diagnostics tool in Internet Explorer
To do this, follow these steps:
    1.
Start Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page that is displaying the error message.
    2.
On the page that displays an Internet Explorer error message, click the
Diagnose Connection Problems link. The Network Diagnostics tool will run. When the tool has finished running, it will report one of the following results:
    o
It was unable to find a problem.
    o
It has detected a problem. Additionally, the tool will provide guidance about the next steps to take to troubleshoot the problem.
    Note
Internet Explorer 6 users click Detect Network Settings
    3.
    Click
IP Address, and note the IP Address. You may need it for future troubleshooting.
    4.
Follow the steps in the Network Diagnostics tool to fix any connection problems.
    5.
    Start Internet Explorer.
If you receive the same error message, go to the next method.
    Suggestion #2:
    =====================================================================
Use the Delete Browsing History feature
If resetting the modem or the router did not resolve the problem, deleting your browsing history might help. Follow
these steps to remove your temporary Internet files, history, and form data:
    Internet Explorer 8
    1.
    Start Internet Explorer.
    2.
    On the
    Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    3.
    Under
    Browsing history, click Delete.
    4.
Select the check box next to
    Preserve Favorites website data.
    5.
Select the check box next to
    Temporary Internet Files.
    6.
Select the check box next to
    Cookies.
    7.
Select the check box next to
    History.
    8.
Select the check box next to
    Form data.
    9.
Select the check box next to
    InPrivate Filtering data.
    10.
At the bottom of window, click
    Delete.
    11.
Close Internet Explorer, start Internet Explorer again, and then try to access the Web page.
    Suggestion #3:
    =====================================================================
Use the Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode
    To do this, click
Start, point to All Programs, point to
Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click
    Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
Note Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode is only available for Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8.
If this resolves the issue, follow these steps to isolate the browser add-on that is causing the issue:
    1.
    Click
Tools, and then click Internet Options.
    2.
    Click the
Programs tab, and then click Manage add-ons.
    3.
    Click an add-on in the
Name list, and then click Disable.
    4.
Repeat step 3 until you identify the add-on that is causing the issue.
If this issue still persists, Pls refer to the following link for
