Re: Concurrent manager question

Hello,
How do you verify whether Conc manager is set up for Parallel concurrent processing or not?
By navigating to concurrent->manager->define-- by checking the primary node and secondary node of the manager?
if the manager have entries for both primary as well as secondary then the concurrent manager is set up for parallel concurrent processing? Is there any other way?Kindly Correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks,

Is there a way to set up a command line program to run via concurrent manager? This is a UNIX based environment. Thanks

You may register your program as a hosted executable and then use it to define a concurrent program. Review the developer's guide for documentation. Also, be aware of how parameters may be sent and processed by the command line program.

  • How to determine optimal no of concurrent manager processes

    Hi,
We have a PROD env with 8 cpu and 64 G in database tier which is also the conc processing tier. The release version is 12.0.4 and OS is HP Itanium. Currently there are more than 160 conc manager processes running including the standard manager and is creating huge load during peak hrs. I want to cut down on the number of processes and implement the optimal no of processes. Looking for some suggestion on the same.
Is there any algorithm to calculate the optimal no of processes that should run depending on system hardware resource, no of users etc..
    Thanks
    Rit

    Hi,
I do not believe such a formula exists or documented somewhere. I believe you need to tune you concurrent managers, and this depends on many factors (number of CPUs, number of users, number of concurrent requests, ..etc).
I would suggest you go through the following documents for some recommendations. You will have to adjust the Concurrent Managers parameters according to the load you have until you are satisfied with the performance. Make sure you consider reviewing the following parameters/factors:
    - PMON cycle
    - Sleep time
    - Cache size
    - Number of records in CM tables (using "Purge Concurrent Requests And/Or Manager Data" concurrent program)
    - Number of standard managers
    - Statistics for CM tables (using "Gather Table Statistics" concurrent program)

  • 11.5.10.2 Windows XP installation - Concurrent Manager not working

I have completed the 11.5.10.2 installation on windows XP without any issues. However, concurrent manager even though it starts but when I submit any request, "no active manager" displays in the requests window.
I tried if anyone had issues in this forum and found that I need to run autoconfig but that has not helped.
The following steps are being already tried but with no luck:
    1. Stopped all application tier services (apache, fulfillment, forms etc)
    2. Ran \oracle\viscomn\admin\scripts\<VIS_Server>\adautocfg.cmd - it completed successfully
    3. One of the threads in this forum said "OracleVISOra806_2TNSListener80APPS_VIS" must be running in order for CM to work - it was not running and attempted to start but could not.
Here is the log file info for "OracleVISOra806_2TNSListener80APPS_VIS" service:
    System parameter file is E:\oracle\visdb\9.2.0\network\admin\<VIS_Server>\listener.ora

    2. Rebooted

    4. Started 9.2.0 listner service (OracleVIS_db920_RDBMSTNSListenerVIS) and Oracle Service manually
    5. I ran autoconfig
    6. I started all the application services manually
It worked but I don;t know where else the application will fail. So far so good. But is this the right procedure?
one more question? Do I need to run autoconfig after every reboot?

  • BLANKPAGES=NO from Concurrent Manager?

I have a report written in 6i. The report has a main section and a trailer section. Based on a user-provided parameter, I suppress all of the items on one section or the other. The report runs only from Concurrent
Manager, where the output format is "PDF".
Reports 6i always emits a blank page for whichever section was suppressed from printing. This is aesthetically
displeasing and wastes paper when printed.
Literally dozens of posts in the Reports forum are in regards to suppressing blank pages. One regular answer to
this question is to provide the command line parameter BLANKPAGES=NO. How can I provide this command
line argument to reports called from Concurrent Manager?
I originally posted this in the Reports forum, but they suggested posting here instead.

  • Returning Yellow Warning Status to Concurrent Manager

    Hi,
I'm using Oracle Concurrent Manager on a 8.17 database to kick off a PL/SQL package.
In my exception section, every time a user defined error occurs, I write out the error to the log. Its in a loop, so it continues processing even if these errors occur. Everything works fine, and it catches the errors correctly.
My question is this - How can I make the status of the concurrent request show a YELLOW WARNING instead of the green completed? I assume I would have to put a line into my PL/SQL package, but not exactly sure which Oracle-supplied package handles this.
Any ideas? Just to re-iterate, I'm not using Forms, so I think this would be the correct forum to ask this.

Pass back a positive retcode:CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE p (
        errbuf  OUT VARCHAR2
    ,   retcode OUT VARCHAR2
    IS
    BEGIN
        retcode := 1;
END p;The above returns a phase of Completed and a status of Warning (yellow) to Concurrent Manager.
A retcode of 0 gives Normal status; negative retcodes are Errors (red).

    Thanks

    Hello,
Thanks for the Post. This post helped me to solve my production issue.
My production application started hanging suddenly and no clue why it is behaving like this.
The symptom was FNDLIBR processes were on top cpu consumer on application server.
The database server also experienced heavy system i/o and cpu usage.
The database base log switches every minutes (500 MB) and there are no concurrent requests running.
No concurrent request errors. No OS errors (Cleaned the GNOME and restarted). No database errors.
But in sql area i saw lot of fnd service requests keep coming.
At the end the application server hangs because of high cpu and it caused the production down.
The problem was one of Our System Administrator disabled one responsibility with scheduled request.
One interesting thing we noticed, even you put the request in question Hold, it will start running while you restart the concurrent request.
You have to cancel the concurrent request and restart the concurrent manager can solve the issue.
    Thx

  • Issue in Concurrent manager

    Hi All,
Last week I faced one issue related with concurrent manager. From the development side, they said submitted concurrent requests(which is normally run by standard manager) were in pending& normal status. I checked the standard manager .It shows actual: 1 and target: 8. In standard manager one request was running.I have deactivated and activated the standard manager. It solved the problem. But I didn't check the status of those request which were in pending&normal stage.
I know that when we deactivate standard manager it will alllow the running requests to complete. But what will happen to those requests in
pending&normal(which needs to be run asap) status?
and also why suddenly there was a difference between actual and target process?
    Thanks,
    RajaSekar

Pending requests will be processed with the priority given.
    In concurrent manager,
Actual Processes: The number of operating system processes that means the processes that are actually running.
Target Processes: The max number of service processes that can be active for this service.
Usually both actual and target are same.

  • Page breaking different on desktop v. concurrent manager

I created a BI Publisher template for a report and I am creating PDF output. When I preview it on the desktop tool, it page breaks correctly. When I run it through the concurrent manager, it does not page break correctly. Does anyone know what controls this? Is there some setting I need to change?

Okay, I will answer my own question, since I found a reasonable workaround/solution. I decided to try using a different font for the report (Verdana > Arial Narrow) to see if maybe a different font would resolve the issue. When I updated the report and ran the report via the Concurrent Manager, the report came out perfectly.
I hope this helps anyone else who runs into this issue.

  • Concurrent Manager : Specialization Rule : Responsibilty Level

    Gurus,
We have new requireent to create seprate manager for executing requests which are comming from specific responsibility, Since the requests comming from specif responsibility will be expected to run long time .
    The reson beehind the requirments.
We are maintaing Historical data and to access the report we have created two set of responsibilities for online data and archive data.
Sometime user submiting Archive database request during business hours which is expected to run little long time.
Now we would like to restrict to run such report during business hours , if at all manadatory to run then we are thinking to create seprate manager with mnimal process.
    Question:
How to define specialzatio ule for responsibility level ?
