Re-enable Microsoft Office Updates

How do I re-enable office 2010 updates when someone declined the updates after installation?
I've tried "get updates for other Microsoft products find out more"  with no resolution.

when downloading microsoft office update get message to close microsoft database daemon and sync services agent. Shouldn't these be closed automatically? I try to close them, but the message still says they need to be closed.  Help!

Are you using Outlook 2011 or Outlook 2015? I don't seem to have any relevant sync settings under Preferences -> Other in Outlook 2015.

  • Ever since the last Microsoft Office update, I can't open some files

A couple days ago, I downloaded an update that said it modified some Microsoft Office code, and ever since that time I get errors when opening some Word and Excel files.  Interestingly, when "the application quite unexpectedly" message appears and I try to report it to Apple, it then tells me that the reporting process quit (this makes me very nervous)!
How do I get my old Office reliability back?

Sounds like you need to contact Microsoft Office for Mac technical support.  If it was their Office update, they'd be better able to help you.

  • Microsoft Office Update

Few days ago i got an update for Microsoft Office from Apple automatic update. After setting it, I cannot open any related software (Excel, Word, powerPoint). In addition, LimeWire is not working as well. Is someone experienced the same problem?.
    Thanks in advance

What you describe sounds like an OS issue. My first statement was mostly in reference to the original poster's comment of, "Few days ago I got an update for Microsoft Office from Apple". Which is impossible since updates for Office don't come from Apple.
There is an extremely long thread in this same forum named "Rosetta no longer working". A lot of folks are noting that Office has stopped working for them with the same type of issue you're having. Seems to affect mostly Intel based Macs. At the same time, I have a Core Duo iMac as one of our office machines here running Office 2004. Everything is up to date. Both Office and all OS updates. Everything works fine.
The OP also notes he's running Limewire. I can't begin to tell you how bad an idea it is to install such software in the first place. Limewire has been known to include spyware that installs with it. There's also little you can do to stop it from installing more spyware on your Mac without your knowledge. There's very little spyware out there that will work in OS X, but any is bad.
Launch Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions on your startup drive. Then download and reinstall the 10.4.10 Combo updater. Run Repair Permissions again. Then clear all font cache files from your system. Download and run Font FinaglerFont Finagler. To remove the Office font cache files, delete the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.browserfont.cache
    ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Font Cache (11)
The tilde (~) indicates your user account. If Office works at this point, there's nothing else to do. If it still won't run, then you'll probably have to resort to a reinstall of the OS. Make sure to use the Archive and Install method, preserving your user settings and preferences. Then once again update the OS to 10.4.10 with the Combo updater. When you're sure all of your apps are working correctly, you can delete the entire "Previous System" folder the reinstall of the OS will create.

  • HT2488 Automator workflow to check for Microsoft Office updates

I'm trying to create a workflow to check for updates in Microsoft Office. I'm recording the workflow to open Word, then select the Help menu and click Check for Updates. However, no matter what I do, the workflow stalls out after opening Word. It will not activate the Help menu. What am I doing wrong?

You can call the update directly with:
        open "/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/Microsoft AutoUpdate.app"
So, in Automator, use the Run Shell Script Action:

  • Microsoft Office update KB2760758 breaks multiline text properties field in custom content type

Last week SharePoint users have reported issue with multi-line field used in custom content type used in SharePoint 2010 document libraries.
Users were not be able to save documents on the server (in a document library) as 'word' would prompt them with a "Required properties" error message stating: ".. correct the invalid or missing required properties"
After some research I found out that removing the following update KB2760758 would fix the problem.
Obviously this is not an acceptable solution and I would like to know if this issue has been reported and a fix would be issued sooner than later.

I got an answer already!  So it is a known issue and the update for this particular bug will be released in the Office 2010 December updates.
It has to do with a bug in MSO.DLL (which we knew already) with versions of the DLL greater than 14.0.710x.xxxx.  You may want to inspect further updates prior to December to validate that they do not contain an updated version of this DLL.  This
includes security and non-security updates that may be released between now and then.  Every KB has a listing of the DLLs it replaces, so be diligent about checking each update's KB for this particular DLL.

  • Microsoft Office updates installation failures - conflict with Installer?

I have had this ongoing issue where all updates to MS Office (both 2008 and now 2011) fail to install. It makes no difference whether I use AutoUpdate or download them directly from the Microsoft/mac downloads site. The installer seems to encounter the same error -- something to do with the "quit_apps.app"? I don't have any other programs running when I try to install, and I've also tried installing after a Safe Boot, but to no avail. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi,
try this: create a new user and login as that user and try again. Does it still crash? Then the problem is a system issue. If it works, then it's a problem in your normal user account.
    Cheers.

  • Microsoft Office Update Log -- Really quick question!

    Hey,
I have an log file entitled, "MAU 1.1.2 Update Log" in my root hard drive folder.
Probably a dumb question, but can I delete that log safely, it just looks stupid sitting there not serving really any purpose right? Like it's only 16 KB but still, I just wanna get rid of it.
Should I be alright to delete it? It's just a log file.

    Yup!
The number leeds me to believe its from an old update. If you haven't done so you should download and install the 11.3.4 Office 2004 patch.
    Get it from here:

  • HT1338 The Microsoft Office 2011 Update that was released yesterday made my Office a non working. How can I solve this?

How Can I correct the Microsoft Office Update?

Since this question is about a Microsoft product, you might have more luck getting suggestions if you ask in Microsoft's own forums.
    Regards.

  • Database daemon and SyncServicesAgent won't close during MS Office Update Install

While running Microsoft Office Updater I tried to close apps that were preventing the Installer from continuing. Two apps wouldn't close: Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent. Out of desperation rather than knowledge I ran the Disk Utility and repaired permissions. BINGO! the Installer closed the errant apps and completed its task. What is going on? I read the same advice repeatedly in this forum that repairing permissions is a waste of time. Clearly not in this case I think.

A message to quit applications occurs in Office for Mac
If you see a message to "quit the following applications"  while installing an update for Microsoft Office for Mac  (See image) , click Continue, and then quit the applications listed in the message. To quit an application, click its name on the Apple menu bar, and then click Quit <application name> or press COMMAND Q. You can also quit an application if it has an icon in the Dock by pressing the CONTROL key, clicking the icon, and then clicking Quit.
You'll also have to turn off Sync Services in Outlook. To do this, start Outlook, click Outlook > Preferences, and then choose Sync Services under Other. Uncheck all boxes and then quit Outlook.
You should now be able to install the update for Office.
NOTE The message to quit applications may also appear if you're installing Microsoft Office for Mac. Follow the same steps to quit the applications before you install Office.

  • MAC OS X updater and Office Update?

    Hello everyone
I have MAC OS X TIGER and am about to install MS Office. I know that the MSN Messenger 4.0 is included and will work together with the Office Apps. But I also know that there is already version 5.1.1 available online. My question is: Will MAC OS X handle an update if I install 4.0 with the whole package or would I have to skip Messenger and download the new one afterwards? I am asking this because I think the Messenger will work better with Word etc. if it is installed right with these apps and updated later. But I am not sure wether and how these updates work and wether MAC OS X handles them or Office itself.
    Thank you for your response!

    Hi Jerome
Microsoft Office Updater will handle the updates. Not Mac OSX. If it doesn't handle Messenger, you can still check for updates in Messenger manually. I don't think it would matter if you skipped on the initial download and just download the new version.
Tiger comes with iChat. I don't use Messenger, so I don't know if there are any advantages to having it over iChat. I don't really use iChat that much either, but I am able to converse with people using Messenger the same with no problems. You may want to explore that first.

  • Microsoft Office Mac 2011

I was prompted to download a 2011 Microsoft Office update for my mac OS X 10.6.5. After the download a popup box appeared, saying, "Microsoft Outlook wants to use your confidential information stored in pop-server...etc...in your keychain" with the options of "Always Allow, Deny and Allow". I checked "Deny"; however, Microsoft won't take "no" for an answer and the same prompt continues to reappear incessantly though I continue to answer "Deny". It's annoying, intrusive and I want it to stop. Can anyone tell me how? Is the Apple Wizard there?

I have office X for mac and have lost my access code for my educational use copy. Is there any way to overcome this?
None that I know of. Either you have your original packaging, which contains the three keys the educational version comes with, or you don't.
From reports I've read, Office X does not run well on Snow Leopard. You'd be much better off purchasing the home version of Office 2011, if you must be compatible with other Office users. Otherwise, there's the free open source OpenOffice.

  • Arial and Times New Roman disappearing in Microsoft Office following update?

After opening Microsoft Word following update to OS X Maverick on my 2012 15" Macbook Pro w/ retina, I noticed all my font in recent documents was gone, as if it was all turned white (it was not). Spell check still worked, the cursor blinked, but I couldn't see any words, even if I highlighted the text. I checked and did not have hidden text, etc. Times New Roman and Arial are really the only fonts I use, so it looked like Microsoft word was having an issue where it wouldn't display any text.
My IT department played around with it, reset my permissions, reinstalled Microsoft Office, to no avail, though I then realized that every font except Arial and TNR can display. If I open a document in those fonts, I can't see any text, but if I highlight it and change the font to something else, it all appears. I can also copy paste from Arial/TNR into another application and it displays. Arial and Times New Roman don't come up in the dropdown for fonts, either, even though they're enabled in Font Book. Both of those fonts will work in Adobe CS6, however.
I also noticed that all of the slide previews in PowerPoint, and most PowerPoint slides (except those that are only images), look blank—if there's a slide with a colored background and text on it (I'm not sure what font the text was in), the whole slide is totally white, no background.
I just ran FontNuke, to remove font caches, which made no difference. Any thoughts?

Hi Rdk1528 -- did you ever get this issue resolved? I'm having the same problem with my brand-new Mac, new Office 2013... the issue seems to have migrated from copying over the content of my previous computer.

  • Software Updates: Microsoft Office, Quicken, Macromedia Flash Player fail

Over the past three months or so I have been prompted to install updates of Microsoft office, Quiken for Mac and now yesterday Adobe Flash Player. In each instance I have been unsuccessful in installation due to the fact that the installation reaches 4 more components to be installed and remains continually searching Mac HD for files to update. Eventually I have to cancel and am unable to install the updates.
As this has happened now with three different applications, I suspect that each is looking for a common folder within Mac OSX to update which it can't find. Any ideas what might be missing?

For Adobe Flash Player plugin, there should be three things in Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/: Flash Player Enabler.plugin, Flash Player.plugin, and flashplayer.xpt. There is also a "Macromedia" folder in Users/Home/Library/Preferences/ I don't know if that is what you are looking for but those are things I have on my computer.

  • What to do about Microsoft Office 2003, Windows Presentation Foundation & Google Update.

I am not sure what to do about the following 3 third-party plugins. It appears that the Windows Presentation Foundation plugin "has a major security vulnerability that can be exploited by malicious websites as described in the Firefox Article "How to enable and disable Windows Presentation Foundation." It seems that the easiest way to deal with this plugin is to disable it via the add-ons manager. My question do the other two plugins pose security risks - should I disable them. I have tried to find additional information on all three plugins and cannot seem to ascertain whether they need to be updated or if, in fact, there are updates for these plugins. I am not sure if they are even compatible with Firefox, perhaps they been added to the Mozilla Add-ons block list. At any rate, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
The three plugins in question are:
Microsoft Office 2003 Unkown ? Research Office plugin for Netscape Navigator plugin
Windows Presentation Foundation Unknown ? Research
(WPF) plugin for Mozilla Browsers plugin
    Google Update Unknown ? Research
    Google Update
    Thank you in advance.
    GAMKRTWCA

hello, i have those plugins on my computer too but have always kept them disabled because i'm not exactly sure what functionality they offer - i have never encountered any site that would depend on them or would cause problems without them, so you can likely just disable them without any harm...
