I am planning to integrate Hyperion Workspace and shared Services with OBIEE.
The Environment is windows server 2008 R2 64 bit OS, Hyperion 11.1.2.3 64 bit, Obiee 11.1.1.7 64bit and Database is Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0) - 64bit.
We are planning to installing EPM System on the same machine on which Oracle BI EE or BI Publisher are installed, Can i install two different Middleware homes ? are Can i install Single Middleware?

It is mentioned in Jon's blog entry, you must edit the HSSRegistration.bat file.
Near the top add:
set ORACLE_BI_HOME=E:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1
set ORACLE_HOME=E:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1
set JAVA_HOME=E:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\jdk
Editing for your environment as appropriate.

If I understand your question correctly
Both OBIEE and Discoverer are primarily reporting tools that can perform some redimentary ETL functions based on their EUL. They can interact with both OLAP sources and relational sources.
Hyperion has a suite of products. See here for the list. You'll have to be more specific if you want me to answer particular questions about those products.

My question is, does Hyperion products like SQR reporting comes free with OBIEE, or we need to buy different licenses?

Seperate Licenses for these. OBIEE+ will just give you OBIEE product tool ...

Can security groups be used as subgroups under XMLP_ADMIN, XMLP_DEVELOPER, XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ANALYZER_EXCEL, XMLP_ANALYZER_ONLINE and XMLP_TEMPLATE_DESIGNER and OBIEE Administrators? Or do the tools expect that only users can be added here?
Enterprise BIP (10.1.3.3.3) has been configured with BI Server Security. In the BI Repository, 3 groups were created: Repository Administrators, Repository Developers and Report Developers.
Repository Administrators group was added to XMLP_ADMIN and Administrators. The users in the group do not see the Admin Tab.
The Report Developers group was added as a subgroup to XMLP_DEVELOPER, XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ANALYZER_EXCEL, XMLP_ANALYZER_ONLINE, XMLP_TEMPLATE_DESIGNER. BIP Developers were then added to the Report Developers group in the BI Repository. In BIP, Report Developers was given permissions to the top level report folders under Shared Folders.
When a BIP developer logs in, they are able to see View the reports and look at History but not Edit or Configure.

OBIEE 11.1.1.5 and OBIEE 11.1.1.6 Installation on same system.

Hi All,
Is it possible to have OBIEE 11.1.1.5 and 11.1.1.6 on same system?
I know this is not practical and kind of unrecommended thing to do. But we have an OBIEE 11.1.1.5 instance installed on a server. And we don't want to deinstall it. Rather, if possible, we want to install OBIEE 11.1.1.6 along with this 11.1.1.5 instance.
Also, is it possible to have OBIEE 10g and OBIEE 11g on one system?

Why don't you go with Upgrade option..thats best way...you just upgrade obiee11.1.1.5.0 to 11.1.1.6.0

Install Essbase 11.1.2 and OBIEE 11g on one and the same Box (Linux 64bit)

Did anyone already try to get Essbase 11.1.2 and OBIEE 11g installed on the same box? In my case I am trying it on OEL 5.5 64bit.
How did you proceed?
First Essbase or first OBIEE or have WLS installed standalone first?
Encountered any hurdles?

let me check... yeah u can do that dude i cant tell u how to do it but i can give u some idea
try to see properties file or db files for web logic ...i think it where the port number are stored and in war file is where multiple instance info is stored
iam sure that u can create multiple instance as long as u give different ports (yeah u have to other wise u cant config it :))

Install Oracle 11G, RAC with VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE on one server?

Dear Experts,
I'm looking to upgrade my skills, and want to learn more of:
Oracle 11G, RAC, VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE
My server has two quad cores (8 CPU altogether) and 16 gigs of RAM.
Years ago, I took a shots at installing RAC on multiple servers and firewire.
One thing I remember was that after I installed RAC, I was not able to use the database unless I enabled all the RAC processes on the server. So, I was not able to just boot the database and use it in the traditional single server manner.
Which I will also want to do.
1) Does this symptom/aspect/characteristic of RAC install still exist?
2) Is it realistic to install all this software on one server?
If so, what is the order of operations for the install?
3) If I have to prioritize, I'd like to install
Oracle 11G, OBIEE, and APPS R12,
Would installing R12 and OBIEE on the same server present any conflicts or issues?
If not, what is the order of operations for the install?

11G, R12, then OBIEE?There will not be any conflicts. I would suggest you to select vmware or virtual box in order to configure all these sw's.
I have done such a configuration on my laptop with i7 Quad processor, 16GB RAM and 640 GB HDD.
I have Installed 2 node RAC, 2 Node ERP and all are running smoothly without any issues.

Siebel analytics 782 and obiee 10g on same machine

Can siebel analytics 7.8.2 and obiee 10.1.3.4.1 be installed on the same machine? Can I have 2 separate folders Siebel Analytics and Siebel analyticsdata for 7.8.2 installation and OracleBI and OracleBIdaata folders for the 10.3.4.1. installation?

Functional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE

Hello,
beside the licensing restrictions, there are some funtional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE. I have seen some very neat features in OBIEE which are not implemented in OBISE1, e. g. generating powerpoint or the assistants for bi publisher in word. The actual release of EE is 10.1.3.4.0 and it is 10.1.3.2.1 for SE1. Does anyone know, if SE1 will be upgraded to 10.1.3.4.0? And if yes, will Interactive Dashboards, Answers and BI Publisher in this relaese have the functional range of EE?

This question has been posted a number of times. Yes, Server, Answers, Dashboards and Publisher are functionally identical in BISE1 and BIEE. You can use BIEE 10.1.3.4.1 to upgrade your BISE1 10.1.3.2.1 (Oracle trust you not to use the stuff you are not licensed to use such as Delivers).

"Customers may upgrade to the latest 10.1.3.x versions of the BI components by running the BI Enterprise Edition 10.1.3.x Installer. Merging OBIEE server and OBIEE presenation services????

I had installed OBIEE presentation services(SAW) in one server (Linux - 1) and OBIEE server(SAS) in another Server(Linux- 2). Now i want to install or merge OBIEE server(SAS) in Linux-1 without disturbing the configuration settings of OBIEE presentation services. Similarly I want to install or merge OBIEE presentation services in Linux -2 where OBIEE server(SAS) is already installed.
Is it possible to accomplish ? If so how?

Install the Presentation Services where you have the OBIEE Server and then move the config files you changed. There is no automatic process for this.

There is no tool for this - you will have to do this using manual checking. Define a test case, run the report on both systems, compare the results. Repeat.
