Re-Install DVD Burner?

The DVD Burner on the MAC will no longer burn DVD's. I can play or read the disc but no burning.
I have tried cleaning the lense, different DVD brands and still get the following error;
"The disc can’t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E)."
Is there a way to re-install the DVD drive?

Not all bad news, I paid for the EXTENDED WARRANTY and its still good!
Guess I have to start my phone call to Apple tomorrow and get the ball rolling.
I was hoping it was software issue I could fix, maybe they have some other troubleshooting tips.
I would hate to have them crack my mac open to swap a drive.  I don't even see screws on this mac to
open it up.  I usully have bad luck with repairs, things not put back right or something.  Oh well will see.
Thanks for your reply!

  • Installing DVD burning software won't work?!

I'm trying to burn a dvd on my Mac and I downloaded Roxio Toast but it was taking way too long to burn. I tried downloading ConvertXToDVD and when I go to click the setup to install it, The Unarchiver opens up for me to extract files, and I click things and it says "the contents of the file "so and so" can not be extracted with this program"
Please help if you can! Very frustrating!

  • Why doesn't my serial ata dvd burner stay engaged?

I recently installed an internal dvd and it will not stay engaged.
Eventually as I am working in something unrelated to the dvd, the burner will put up a message telling me that I inserted a dvd and what speed i would like to burn at even though I didn't insert any dvd. this is followed by disengagement of the driver or a message code say the it is unsupported.
When I access my profile it shows only the super drive but not the newly installed dvd burner in the disk burning category however the new burner is listed in the seril-ata category.
when I restart it will  reinstate the burner and i go through the same ordeal again.
    Thank you for any advice.

Apart from the Energy Saver setting, the drive should work with OSX except for playing Blu-ray movies.
You can play Blu-ray movies with Mac Blu-ray Player
    <http://www.macblurayplayer.com>
If you don't want to buy that, you can use MakeMKV
    <http://www.makemkv.com/>
to copy the movie to the hard drive, then play it with VLC

  • Possible to install HD-DVD Burner in iMac G4?

Hi, I was wondering if it is at all possible to install HD-DVD burner in a iMac G4? Anyone tried this?

I know that Toast Titanium 8 for Mac supports Blu-Ray burning (Apple's loyalties are in the Blu-Ray not the HD DVD camp) but the G4 is not a processor I'd ever want to be encoding HD in. The G4 wouldn't even be up to playing discs. So I think you could do it with a Blu-Ray drive but you shouldn't do it. I hate having to wait whilst an SD DVD encodes HD is at least four times longer. Remember Apple hasn't put a HD spec burner in even it's 8-core Mac Pro yet!

  • Just installed 10.4.9 - My LITE-ON DVD burner no longer will burn DVD-DL

I just installed 10.4.9 (I knew I shouldn't have..) and went to burn a Dual Layer DBD with Toast 8.0.1 and it won't burn -- it recognizes the DVD as D/L - but won't write to it (It thinks it does and immediately says "Writing Lead Out"...but nothing was written.
I have tried other burning applications, but no go. However, I can burn DVD Single Layers no problem...
What did 10.4.9 do and how??? I burned some D/L DVDs last night...is this just a coincidence??? Hard to believe it would be...that just after installing 10.4.9 my DVD burner no longer burns DVD D/L!!
    Anyone else have this problem?

i have a G4 500mhz AGP mac (upgraded to a 1.6ghz processor via a NewerTech card) with an internal CD/DVD player (not burner) and i have an external LaCie CD/DVD burner (the LaCie CD/DVD burner is only about 4 weeks old and i've burned maybe 8 to 10 DVDs on it)
i have had NO problem reading any DVD disks until just about a week ago.. i had bought a new Graphics DVD and it worked the first time i put it in the DVD player... the second time it would not work... (((this was the start of the problem of the purple-ish DVDs not mounting))) so, i thought i had just bought a faulty DVD, they replaced it and the new one still will not work at all.. the DVD will NOT work in my internal DVD player AND it will not work in my LaCie external DVD burner/player...
the internal drive just spins for a few minutes and the kicks the DVD out... the external LaCie drive spins for several minutes, then i finally get a message saying the disc is not readable.
what i have noticed is that any DVDs i put in will mount as long as they have a silver surface.... if the surface is purple-ish color, those are the DVDs that will not mount and keep ejecting
even DVDs that i have burned on the external LaCie DVD burner will not mount in the internal drive OR the external drive...
as i said, all of the DVDs that will NOT mount are the one's with a purple-ish surface... maybe that has something to do with the problem....
something must have happened somewhere because these purple-ish DVDs did used to work... i even did a brand new install of OS X.4 on a totally seperate hard drive and these purple-ish DVDs STILL would not work...
even booted into MacOS 9.2.2 and the STILL would NOT mount....
    ANY info would be helpful...

  • Cannot install WinDVD for my DVD burner.

I just got a new Lenovo 43N3264 DVD burner but I was unable to install the InterVideo WinDVD software on my Toshiba Netbook NB505.  There was an error message: This is not a valid IBM system.  Setup will now abort. . .  I thought an external DVD drive would work with any other make of PC or laptop.  Please help.

If you are trying to install the Win DVD setup file which came with your lenovo on your Toshiba it won't work out since it is specifically bundled with the Lenovo (It may be one of the license restrictions)
    Cheers and regards,

My internal CDRW is out on my MDD G4. I have been relying on my LaCie FW DVD burner. I am wondering if that would be a problem with installing Tiger.

  • Installed New DVD burner, but it will not burn DVDs

I just installed a new Pioneer DVR-112D DVD burner but when I try to burn a DVD with iDVD 4 it will not burn a DVD. It looks like iDVD 4 will get to stage 4 of the process but it will not finish burning the DVD. Can anyone help me out?
    Thank you

If you don't have Tiger, or iDVD 6 or higher, you will need PatchBurn

HP pavilion G6 1247SA os windows7 64bt.When i went to dvd maker,to my horror i found that NO dvd burner is installed on this product.CRAZY.I have tried cyberlink burner software, but the quality is not that great.Whats more, you can't add photos to your dvd project. At the moment i am making my movies, then putting them on a ur drive and dropping them into an old acer notebook i have. The old acer has a good dvd burner installed. How on earth can HP bring out a product without a dvd burner?.Any ideas folks on a decent solution to this problem.

    Hi:
If you can't get the recovery disks to work (I can't help you there), and you can still read all 25 characters of your Vista product key on the bottom of your PC, you can make your own Vista installation disk and use the product key to activate it.
    Here's how:
If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-microsoft-windows-v....
After you successfully install Vista, you can then install the drivers from your PC's support and driver page.

i bough a new imac, this haven't dvd burner, i bought a external dvd burner but the imac havent a idvd and i need this program, no other one, how to download this and install?

    Hi
how to download this and install?
There are no free DownLoads !
There are no legal DownLoads at all !
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • Installing External DVD Burner, please help!

I've been trying all day to install my new External DVD Drive; it's an LG GE20 that SAYS it's Mac compatible, yet comes with no usable installation software, only a disc for Windows. I hooked it up and powered it on, put in the Windows install disc and it reads, but I cannot install anything. I'm sure there's drivers I need to be able to use the drive, but I've been scouring the net for hours trying to find a way to install this burner and the software it has on the disc onto my Macbook, and I read that there can also be problems getting lightscribe to work. If someone can guide me through installing this drive and getting it to work, I would be very appreciative.

the LG doesn't list Mac OS X as a supported OS for the GE20LU. but I'd be surprised if it doesn't work. In the off chance it doesn't you may want to check out toast.

  • Can A DVD Burner Connected By USB 2.0 Install Leopard/SL ?

I am contemplating getting an external DVD drive to relieve the workload on my internal one.
I would also like it to be capable of working with an installation DVD in the event of my computer's DVD burner failing when I wanted to upgrade the OS in the future.
I know that a FireWire connected burner can do this, but can a USB 2.0 also do it?

yes. a USB external DVD drive will work with any intel mac and let you boot from the SL install disk.

  • Installed a second DVD burner. Drive doors opened up randomly

    Hi All,
    This is a quick one.
Anyway, I'm looking to install a second DVD burner on my machine. I'd like one with LightScribe capability.
I once tried this before. It was back in the fall and I don't quite remember what type of drive it was. I bought it retail at Best Buy here in the US.
Anyway, I installed it, and then when I fired my machine up the drives kind of went crazy. They bays/trays kept opening, sometimes seemingly at random.
So, I know I'm light on the details here, but does anyone have an idea as to why this happened? Has something similar happened to anyone else?
    Thanks,
    Robert

If the second drive jumper is set to Master (most drives are shipped with that setting) you will have problems. Set it to CS (Cable Select). With the correct jumper setting, Eject will open the top drive, Option-Eject the lower.
