Re-installing iMovie plug-ins

When I switched from a PPC Mac to my Intel Mac, I had to update some third-party plug-ins for iMovie. I was having some problems with it and did something stupid. I removed the iMovie plug-ins in my library for transitions and titles and somehow lost them (yes I searched they are so gone). How can I get them back? I tried re-installing iLife 06, but got weird error messages. What can I do to restore iMovie to what it was before?

Hello, floridakid,
Welcome to the discussions.
You should have been able to recover your original iMovie titles and transitions with the reinstall of iLife.
You would not be able to recover the third party plug-ins, unless you had saved the original downloads of those.
What was the problem with the iLife reinstall? What 'weird error' messages were you getting? Did the applications reinstall or not?

how do I get administrative priveleges to install optional plug-ins for cs5 and or how to install these optional plugins thanks

To add to Mylenium's reply, here's how to do it on Windows and this is what microsoft website says:
Why do I have to be an administrator to install a program?
Only administrators can make changes that will affect everyone who uses the computer, such as installing software and hardware and changing security settings.
If the program you are trying to install or run says you  must have administrator rights, but you are already an administrator on the computer, right-click the installation icon for the program, and then click Run as administrator. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
If the program installs but does not run, right-click the program icon, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program as an administrator check box, and then try to run the program.

  • How do I install my plug-ins in Photoshop CS5 64bit

Can't seem to install my plug-ins that I have been using in Photoshop CS3 and CS4.   Mediachance, Nik, onOne,  Alien Skin, Photkit, Fluidmask, Fred Miranda, etc.  They all work in CS3 in Win 7 Pro 64bit, but do not show in CS5.

I tried CS4 and CS5 on my old Hp (32bit).  CS4 was OK, but nothing to write
home about.  CS5 could not support my plug-ins as well as CS4, actions did
not work well in CS5.  I ended up having to keep CS3 extended active.  When
all else fails I use PS 7.  Ended up dumping the entire CS4 Design Suite
Premium.  As it turns out I should have dumped CS5 and Kept CS4 Active.  I
do not like having to use the automate menu to access plug-ins that were in
the Filters Menu or added pull down menu bar (extensis/onOne menu bar).
Also do not like the very small text for the Pull Downs. CS5 apparently does
not support the onOne menu bar.  I dumped CS5(64bit) later today.  Installed
32Bit CS5.  It’s a real shame I can not use the full performance features of
this performance laptop (Quad Core, 2GB discrete graphics, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz,
SSD/Hybrid drives) with CS5.  Had to process a photo shoot today and ended
up using DXO Optics Pro.  Really very unhappy with CS5.  The few
enhancements vs. the dysfunction of CS5 are not worth the cost.  Sure glad I
did not go for the full Design Premium upgrade this time.  The accumulated
cost/value of all my plug-ins by far exceed the value of the CS5 upgrade.  I
just may go back to my Corel Apps on my MAC.  Can not afford to purchase
(once again) all my Plug-ins.  Nik , Alien Skin, and onOne are grossly
    overpriced.
Sorry to RANT.  Just not happy with CS4 and CS5.  I have been using
Photoshop since the version 4 release.  The best releases were PS7 and CS3

  • Installing Old Plug-ins into CS5

Is it possible to install old plug-ins (plugins) into Adobe Photoshop CS5?
I have tried a couple of my old plug-ins and could not get any to show up under the Filters menu.
    I installed to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins
I tried installing Noise Ninja 2.3.2.
I tried installing Kodak GEM AIR Pro.
    I tried installing Phototune SkinTun.
No luck with any of them.
I also tried installing a couple to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Filters

No one is likely to have a FIX, per se.
32 bit plug-ins only work with 32 bit Photoshop, while only 64 bit plug-ins work with 64 bit Photoshop.  I suspect the 32/64 bit mismatch may be at the root of the problem you're seeing, Hawaii-geek.
Plug-ins generally need to be installed in the new version of Photoshop.
For 32 bit plugins, maybe, just MAYBE, for an individual plugin you can find a way to copy the proper file(s) so that Photoshop CS5 will find them under its OWN Plug-ins subfolder.  Photoshop enumerates plugins it finds there when it first starts.  But this is not a given as a plug-in may set up things other than just the files when it is installed.
The one thing to remember is that you ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT point the "Extra Plug-ins Folder" at the Plug-ins folder of an old Photoshop installation.  Doing so will mix plugins supplied with the older Photoshop version with your new Photoshop version, and this WILL cause you problems.
HangtownGal is using that feature right.  For simple one-file plugins, you should be able to point every version of Photoshop to a common separate plug-ins folder, but keep in mind the 32 vs. 64 bit issue I mentioned above.  As Chris states, 32 bit Photoshop will only load 32 bit plug-ins, and 64 bit Photoshop will only load 64 bit plug-ins (which are reasonably rare still).  And keep in mind more complex plugins often are sets of files that are sometimes copied to a number of different places in the Photoshop installation area.
Why is it you think someone else needs to FIX this problem?
Did you not keep the installation package and/or instructions you got with your old plugins?  For those that cannot be installed into a Photoshop version that didn't even exist when they were released, have you checked to see if there are updates available from the plugin manufacturers?  You may very well have to pay to upgrade these.  You paid to upgrade Photoshop, so is that a problem?

  • How to install optional plug-ins

I just read in the March issue of Photoshop User magazine about optional plug-ins you can download from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4048. It includes the Contact Sheet II plug-in among others. The article described how to install this plug-in but there are other things included in the Goodies folder that I'd like to install but not sure how. For example, there are textures but I don't see a textures folder where PS CS4 is installed. The readme file doesn't tell you how to install the features. Any help would be appreciated.

most things like textures, actions, brushes etc. can be loaded via the flyout menu in their respective palettes. the little triangle in the upper right corner? click that, you'll see "load textures" or "load brushes" etc.

  • Where to find/install my Plug Ins in Photoshop CC?

How can I get my collection of plug-ins into Photoshop CC 64? In preferences plug ins I only see "Generator" and no possibillity to select a drive or any other place where the plug ins are located.
    Please help....Thanks a lot.

    Hello,
The external plug-ins folder in the preferences has been removed, causing too many issues for the many customers that pointed to the root of their plug-ins folder of their previous version of Photoshop.
You need to install them for Photoshop CC, or move them to the plug-ins folder (for those that do not require an installer)
    On a PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins

  • How do I Install legacy plug-ins missing from Photoshop CS4?

How do I open a file I downloaded with legacy plug-ins for Photoshop CS4? I am trying to get back the plug-in "pattern maker," which was in earlier versions of Photoshop. Does not imply that there is any problem opening the zip file, but rather that the files cannot be copied to the location you are trying to copy them to because of a permissions problem.
Are you seeing different errors at different times?
Can you extract the files to another folder - e.g., one you have created in a folder of your own?
If so, you could then go into Edit - Preferences - Plug-ins and set Photoshop to look in YOUR folder for the plugins.
