Re-Installing PSE 11

I want to re-install PSE 11 to see if it might fix an issue I'm having.  Is there any risk with losing data, tags etc?

Yes it's a bit annoying having to use another account. I assume they have trashed the prefs?
The editor saved prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts. Quit Elements.
Hold down the Cmd+Opt+Shift keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys when you see a pop up - you may need to look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or go to applications and hold down the three keys whilst double clicking on Photoshop Elements Editor application.
When you see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
Click on Yes - then wait whilst the app rebuilds the preferences.

  • Had PSE 8 installed on PC Windows 7 with a catalog backup on an external drive. Now have a Mac with OS Mavericks. If I install PSE 12 or Lightroom on this Mac can I use the cat. backup from Windows or must I start from scratch

Had pse 8 on a Windows 7 PC with a catalog backup on an external drive. Now have a Mac with OS Mavericks. If install pse 12 or Lightroom on the Mac will I be able to use the old catalog backup or must I start from scratch.

If you made a full catalog backup using the organizer's backup command, and you did it to a removable drive, yes, you can restore it to the mac. A backup made on discs will not work, though.

  • How do I install PSE 10 on Mac OSx 10.9.1?

My DVD drive is bad, so I mounted the Mac version of PSE 10 on a Windows DVD and shared it.  When I run the installer I get the following message - Installer failed to initialize.  Please download the Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.  When I run the Support Advisor I get the following - Inspection could not identify any issues.  Please contact Adobe Support for further assistance.  When I contacted Adobe support, they sent me to the forums as they said they would not be able to assist with PSE 10.
I found somewhere online a suggestion to use Premier Elements 10 Installer Fix but it fails with the following message - The Premiere Elements 10 Installer could not be found.  Please insert the Installation DVD or mount the downloaded installer image.
Can I downloand the PSE 10 installer image?
How can I install PSE 10 so that I can compete my project?
    Thanks for assistance

In the Gatekeeper, I set the following the value to Anywhere for "Allow apps downloaded from:"
Is there another setting in Gatekeeper?
    Currently my firewall is off.
I then tried to run the installer again with the same error message:
"Installer failed to initialize.  Please download teh Adobe Support Advisor to detect problem.

  • How do I install PSE 11 on Mac OS 10.8.2?

I uninstalled PSE 10 on Mac OS 10.8.2 using Adobe's Application Manager. But how do I install PSE 11? I only see ".exe" files.

I was finally able to get PSE 11 to install by downloading the free trial. But first, I had to upgrade Adobe's Application Manager. I was then able to use the serial number contained in the confirmation email Adobe sent me from when I purchased it online.
Adobe sure makes it difficult to spend my hard-earned money!

  • Re-installing PSE 10 on Win 7 pro 64

I'm having a issue involving re-installing PSE/PE10 onto my new Win 7 pro 64 home build.
    It started with-
I had an issue right in the middle of installing software onto this new machine.
I have multiple Hard Drives installed and during a recovery from being hit with some bugs (malware/virus) during all this installation I thought it best to unplug some of those drives to minimize potential damage.
I had already installed PSE/PE 10 onto those drives and when I finally got back up and running the links to these installed programs no longer worked. Trying to re-define the links proved too much and so I thought a complete re-install of both programs should do it.
    I un-installed both programs
Un-install, cleaned registry, found more folders (reading forums here) deleted those, cleaned registry, rebooted thru several of these processes,..and did manage to re-install PE 10, but PSE 10 is giving me fits and I can't figure out what else to do.
I go to re-install PSE 10 and the only choice I get is to REMOVE the s/w from the pc (even tho it's already uninstalled). Okay, I'll do that and THEN proceed but- after offering to deactivate my software on this pc (okay I can do that) the only option it then gives me is to delete, fine, but when I select that option it then takes me to a window that informs me that the disk doesn't have the room available and even tho other disks are avail to click on, doing so doesn't allow any other selections to be made. The TARGET area (even tho it is for uninstall) is the install disk drive and I can't make another selection. So it ultimately does nothing!
I managed to get PE 10 back onto the drive, what in the world remnants are staying behind to give Win 7 the impression that I still have the program installed and not allowing me to do just that- re-install it??
Could really use some assistance on doing this before I wipe the whole HD as a last resort- ugh!
ps- uninstalled Air, Organizer and any/all folders I could find related to anything Adobe thinking it was interferring with this

    I managed to RegEdit those areas but must have gotten heavy heanded in that, after cleaning all instances of Adobe out of the Registry I get another problem. I just went to try and install PSE 10 after doing as much cleaning as I know how;
checking the registry as you suggested
running a registry tool to check for  missing links etc
rebooting after each pass to clean the drive
When I went to install it tells me an error on the windows installer- "The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your suppport"
I must have taken too much out of the Registry. Is there a method to restore? Would that fix the issue?
    Thanks for the assistance
ps- FYI, upon trying to run the PE10 installer it seems as if that was going to work. I cancelled out of it until I fix the PSE 10 issue. But it did get further than the PSE installer and no error messages.

  • I'm new to Mac and Adobe, I installed PSE 11 from disk on iMac but it will not open, any help would

I'm new to Mac and Adobe (probably sounds lame :( , but anyway I installed PSE 11 from a disk and it won't open on iMac ? Any help would be appreciated.

Can you start the Editor or Organizer from Launch Pad?

  • After installing PSE 10 on OS X Lion, no longer able to select pictures from iPhoto library

I've downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 10 on my MacBook Pro, which is running OS X 10.7.4. After installation and importing the photos from iPhoto, I noticed that I am no longer able to select images from my iPhoto library from other applications, such as Facebook, Address Book, etc. (ie; typically in a dialog to select a photo or image, simply browse to iPhoto library to get access to all Events, Albums, Faces, etc.).
This capability now seems to be broken even if I browse to the iPhoto Library using Finder. Showing Package Contents on the iPhoto Library reveals that all the images are there.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Drilling into the file structure of the PE Organizer is painful at best.

You assume too much. I am not mucking around with the iPhoto Library.
Here is an example of my problem:
    Open Address Book
    Select a Contact
    Click Edit
    Double Click the Photo icon
A dialog appears for me to "Choose" a photo
    Click Choose...
Another dialog appears for me to browse to the photo that I would like to attach to that conract
I select my username under "Favorites", then expand the "Pictures" folder
When I click on iPhoto Library, I am no longer able to expand it and presented with the photos, events, faces, albums within it, but only get an icon for the iPhoto Library instead.
This is part of the way a Mac works, and is now broken. It exhibits this in Address Book and any other program, and it was working fine until I installed PSE 10.

  • Has anyone had a problem installing PSE Elements 8.

I have installed PSE Elements 8 from a new boxed CD onto a new Dell running Windows 7 Professional (64 Bit).
PSE has loaded without any warnings and I get to the welcome screen OK. Organiser works fine but if I try and start Edit it just circles around back to the Edit prompt. I have tried getting in via Fix in Organiser which then advises Loading Elements workspace but then drops me back to menu.
I have tried all the Tech Note suggestions but after hours of trying am still no further forward.
I even downloaded and installed the trial version but I this performs in the same way.
    All suggestions welcome.  Thanks

    No luck.
PE Editor does not open with Ctrl/Alt/Shift nothing...zilch
Running PE Editor from this point using Open produces error message. PE Elements has stopped working - Close Program.
    Thanks anyway.
Problem has now been escalated to senior tech team within Adobe.

The only other suggestion is try re-setting the Editor preferences as this often fixes conflicts. You will also be able to check that this part of the application installed correctly.
Hold down the windows key to the left of Alt and press the letter E to launch Explorer
In the left side pane click on Computer
In the right pane double click on Program Files, then double click Adobe, then double click Photoshop Elements 8.0
Use the right hand  scroll bar to move down the list of files and locate Photoshop Elements Editor With one hand holding down all three keys CtrlShiftAlt right click on the Editor file in the list and select open.
You should see a pop up box with the words Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
Close down Elements and re-open it in the normal way.
Please let us know if that works.

  • Failure to Install PSE 7 after gettign licensing error (Vista machine)

    Hi,
I was happily using PSE 7 for a few months and then got a licensing error. In a misguided attempt to fix that problem I uninstalled PSE 7 and tried to reinstall it (using the remove program app) and now I cannot install PSE 7 on my machine. When I run the installation program for it, it gets almost all the way through installation and then suddenly the last install screen says that it was unable to install and that my system has not been altered. All you can do is press "finish" and be bummed out that you still can't use PSE7.
Any advice? I think there is probably some artifact that PSE 7 has left on the machine that needs to be deleted to make for clean install environment but darned if I can find anything. If you go to the Adobe folder in Program Files, PSE 7 does not show up anymore. (I also had to remove PSE 6 because it stopped working in all of this, as well. PSE 5 is on my system but I haven't tried to open it).
Open to any and all good suggetions. Many thanks, Deb Whitman

    Deb,
This Adobe tech note explains how to manually remove all (or at least most) traces of PSE:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb405847
Then try reinstalling. If you still get a license error, see this FAQ:

  • I just installed PSE 11 and my raw files won't open. They opened in 10 but not with 11?

I just installed PSE 11 and there is no camera raw. PSE 10 worked fine. Any help?

Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files.

  • How do I remove PSE 7 after installing PSE 8?

After successfully installing PSE 8, I tried to remove PSE 7 from my Dell PC computer. However, PSE 7's icon is not displayed in Vista's "uninstall or change" window (the place where Vista shows all the installed programs). Only PSE 8's icon appears. PSE 7 continues to work fine, as does PSE 8, but what in the world is going on? I'd be grateful for any ideas about a solution to this matter.

    saurabh288:
Many thanks. I knew there had to be a way to get rid of it. However,
so far, I'm using both 7 and 8 and it's okay.
    Quoting saurabh288 <[email protected]>:
In case you want to uninstall PSE7, you can again run the setup.exe.
This will uninstall PSE7. Or you can download the cleanup utility
provided by microsoft, which also uninstalls the application.

  • Installed PSE 8 but can't open catalog :-(

I've installed PSE 8, upgrading from PSE 6.  When I open the catalog it tells me that there is an earlier version catalog and would I like to make it compatible with PSE 8, to which I answer yes, I gave it a new name and clicked ok.  It thinks for a long time and then I get a "not responding" message.  I can't get into the organizer to do the recommendation in the book to convert the catalog.  Any help greatly appreciated!

Yes, it seems like a problem with the main catalog.  I haven't seen a failed conversion before that didn't write a conversion log.  So there aren't many clues to go on.  I have just one more suggestion -- run the utility psedbtool on your PSE 6 catalog:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/
Because you have both PSE 6 and 8 installed, you'll have to run it specially:
    1. Start PSE 6 and do Help > System Info to find the folder path of your PSE 6 catalog folder.
    2. Start a command prompt.
    3. Type these two commands:
    cd c:\psedbtool
    .\psedbtool -printVolumeTable > output.log
    4. Copy and paste the contents of c:\psedbtool\output.log here.
