Re-installing Windows  on My Computer

I'm going to be uninstalling and re-installing Windows 7 Ultimate N 64-bit on my computer within the next few days. I know to backup my music files, etc., but in backing up my iPhone 5s to the cloud via iTunes, will that preserve my playlists and number of plays, etc. Am I going to lose something and, if so, is there a way to prevent losing anything in advance?
Thanks!

See Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy. You need to backup the library files as well as the media. (And all of your other documents and data of course.)

  • Windows 8 - Windows could not cmplete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation

Having SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 I attempted to do a pretty simple task.
Create a capture media for Windows 8 64 Bit and capture the OS.
The system in question is a Dell Latitude 6430u and OEM Windows 8.
The system ran as expected, the capture went as expected, but when I deploy the image (Back to the same laptop mind you)
    The following occurs:
Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation.
    Things that I've tried:
Set the SATA to various modes as it was on RAID on as speculated in some posts
Saw a posting that suggests pressing SHIFT F-10 to get in to some prompt and run oobe; doesn't work here, I think.
Added Dell Driver Packs for the system
As for log files, I'll check C:\Windows\Panther and see what's there.
Any ideas on how to correct this? Is there a way to go in to the image itself to do so?

    Sorry, I'm not using CM2007, but CM 2012 SP1, CU3.
I went through the smsts log and found several instances where drivers were missing so I'm guessing that's why it pitched a wobbly about not being a suitable system for the Windows setup.

Which doesn't make sense since the image that I am trying to put on the system is the one I took it from. Before putting the image out I went to Dell's web site and got the Windows 8 drivers for the system and distributed them as I usually do.
I got the drivers from here -
    http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/w/wiki/4372.latitude-6430u-windows-8-driver-cab.aspx
What I don't get is that I can take the Windows 8 install.wim and do an OSD task with it and there is no issue with drivers.
One other thing here is the log from the windows\panther folder:

  • Install windows from different computer

    Hello guys,
firt, I would like to apology for my English.
I tried to install Windows on my macbook pro 13 late 2011, but I don't have any SuperDrive in. I replaced my SuperDrive to HDD and on the place of HDD I put SSD.
And my point is, that when I tried to install windows with bootcamp I always ended by black screen and text on it " no bootable device, please put device.......". When I looked for solutions, I found, that my MBP doesn't support boot from USB, but I did clean install OS X and it worked fine.
So what I want to know is, IT'S POSSIBLE TO INSTALL WINDOWS TO HDD WITH DIFFERENT PC AND THEN PAST IT BACK TO MBP AND BOOT WINDOWS? Or it has to be strict install with bootcamp to boot ?
Thank you for all responds !! :-)

You can not install Windows in another computer then "PAST" it onto another computer. You must intall Windows onto the computer that will be booting Windows.

  • HT3986 In using bootcamp to partition and install Windows on my computer, the partition step stops and sends me a message that "files cannot be moved" so partitioning is incomplete.  I am stuck. Please help.

In using bootcamp to partition and install Windows on my computer, I keep hitting a snag.  Message says that partitioning can not be completed because files can not be moved.  I have tried several things but nothing seems to be helping to move the process along.  What should I do?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
In most of the cases, that message appears when there's a problem with the filesystem, so you have to repair the disk. This doesn't mean that the hard drive is damaged.
First of all, open  > About this Mac, and check Version. If it's 10.5 or 10.6, insert the Mac OS X DVD of the version you are using and press C key while your Mac is starting. If it's 10.7 or 10.8, press Command and R keys while your Mac is starting. After doing this:
    1. Go to Utilities menu > Disk Utility (if you have 10.5 or 10.6) or open Disk Utility (10.7 and 10.8).
    2. Choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair the disk.
    3. Restart, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps to install Windows on the Mac

How do I update the BIOS ?

  • Error when try to install windows 8.1 from UEFI USB

    Hello !
I have prepared a UEFI USB flash drive installation for Windows 8.1, as described in this link :
    http://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to-make-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-to-install-windows-8/
The computer is on UEFI mode.
Now the computer boot from the USB flash drive, but after some seconds, I get an error message on a blue screen:
Your pc need to be repaired
The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contain errors
    File \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi
    Error code :0xc0000359"
It’s strange because the hard drive has no partitions, and the USB flash drive doesn’t have a path path like
    \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi.
What is happening and what should I do?
    Thank you !

    Hi,
When install Windows on UEFI mode, you need to convert your disk to GPT firstly. Therefore, please check if your disk was already converted to GPT partition style.
On the other hand, you can access to the link below which talking about how to install Windows using UEFI partition style.

  • Trying to install Windows 7 on iMac Mountain Lion - Pain

    Hey all,
I am having hard times trying to install Windows 7 (64 bits) on my iMac.
Have followed every steps (Boot Camp and Apple guides, checked the forums here, etc.); made the partition, downloaded the drivers onto an empty and FAT formatted USB hard disk, etc., and all that worked fast and easy.
The problem starts when it comes to install W7 (Superdrive built in so it's in a DVD): after I choose the language, right away it says "No drivers found". It supposes to ask for the drivers after the installation but it does the opposite. I have checked the drivers one by one and it recognizes some of them, but when it tries to load them a new windows pops up repeating the same "No drivers found" thing.
I even modified Boot Camp so now it can burn a ISO image onto a USB drive. Downloaded and tried another W7 version but it was worse ("no bootable device" message...)
Have checked many other threads like this, vids, etc., but have found no solution so far. Apple's help definitely *****... And this supposes to be cake. Have spent days on this and nothing.
Just in case, all I have used on this is Boot Camp (updated, 5.0.4) and everything else on my computer is updated also. Don't have any VM, nothing like that.
Don't know how to solve this and install Windows on my computer. Please somebody help me. I am far from being a tech so will appreciate your patience on descriptions. Thanks!

There are various guides for installation and compatibility on the Apple support site for Bootcamp, did you download and read them?
I have only installed Windows once with Bootcamp, that was Windows 8, I followed the instructions and it worked ok but there seems a few items that you need to be aware of, it is all in the manuals, Apple suggest you print them off for reference.
That is about as much as I can tell you.

sorry about not posting much before just frustrated.

www.Nliteos.com great program copy your windows CD to a Directory then run Nlite select different options you want, like slipstream service packs and hotfixes, drivers, tweaks, remove stuff from install like MSN, outlook express, do a true unattended intsall (input your key and all that) its pretty powerful then put in a blank CD and hit burn and out spits a new XP disc thats custom for you.
i dont recommend putting ALL your drivers IE video card, sound and all that just the basics then use the proper installers for the big drivers.
check out the forums on the site lots of great info

  • Installing windows on a macbook air with no superdrive

I have a macbook air, install discs for windows vista and windows 7 (upgrade only), and no superdrive.  I can't run bootcamp since I don't have the superdrive, and I've tried putting ISO's / IMG's on a hard drive (bootcamp work around) but nothing has seemed to work.  Can I insert the install disks into a friends mac and use air drop to somehow cause my computer to think the install disk is inside it?  How would I go about this if this would work?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    You have some problems:
    1. You need an external optical drive to install Windows on your computer. You can't use the optical drive of another PC or Mac.
    2. Boot Camp, on Lion, only supports Windows 7, and you can only install the full version legally. The upgrade edition works, but it's not legal.
Also, if you have a ISO file with Windows 7, you can use it to create a USB drive with Windows to install Windows from it, instead of buying an external optical drive. To install Windows from a USB drive, open Boot Camp Assistant, tick the option to create a Windows 7 USB drive and follow the steps

  • Install windows 7 in a new iMac 27 core i5

Hello, someone knows how to Install windows 7 in a new iMac 27 core i5 ?

As a new iMac hasn't got the SuperDrive, you have to buy the Apple USB SuperDrive or another external optical drive to install Windows on your computer. If you need help, print this PDF > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
Also, if you have a Windows .iso file, you can use it and burn it into a USB drive. To do this, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow its steps

  • Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows...

I have a G62-340US that had a hard drive crash. I installed a new hard drive and used the HP Restore Disks. The laptop will go through the boot process and Windows will give a message" Setting up system for first time use" or something to that affect.  A diolog box then comes up and says "Windows could not complete the installation.  To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation." If I hit enter, I am caught in a loop. I can control-alt-del and kill audit.exe and bring up the system. However, everytime I reboot, I get the above error.
The system is running Win7 64 bit.
Any ideas on how to complete this installation and move forward?
Also, the HDD is 320 gb but the system is only recognizing 68 gb.
    Thanks for your assistance!

    Hi:
That happened to me too and I tried twice to get the disks to work and the failure occurred at the same place.
If you bought a new hard drive of at least the same size in GB as the old one, the disks should have worked.
There is no telling why they don't and many folks have issues with the recovery disks for one reason or another.
Fortunately there is a method you can use to get W7 back on your PC if you can read the full 25 character windows product key on the bottom of your PC.
    Here's what you can do...
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • Installing Windows 8 on a new HD (old HD crashed)

I have replaced the hard drive in a HP 2000 notebook pc and wanted to do a factory reinstall.
I was able to go into the OLD hard drive an pull byte by btye the recovery partition.  That was succesful.
Since it is a new hard drive, I cannot pull up HP Recovery manager and cannot find a download for it anywhere.  I have tried to go inside WinRE and put to the install.wim image but that did not work.
Any help would be much appreciated in making CD's from the recovery partiation or being able to point to that partiation and install from there.
    Thank you

Only recovery manager can make the recovery partition work and it is something you cannot download.
There is an alternative you can use but you would need your Windows 8 Key.  You could download and create a Windows 8.1 ISO and burn it to disk to install Windows on your computer.  It is not a HP version but a copy of the retail Windows 8.1 version containing none of the HP software.  You would not need the recovery partition.
