Re: Satellite A305-S6872 media control buttons driver?

Ok, so I just got this laptop on Sunday.
It has the media control buttons on it, but they won't work.
I've read a few posts about it, saying that I need to download the Control driver..
Well, I spent hours last night looking for it. :\
Anyone have the direct link to it?

Hallo Kitsune
Try to reinstall Value added Package. You can download it from Toshiba support page. If you have US notebook model please visit http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp
Hallo Glead
In users manuals is described that this button is not for 2 functions but just for one. Either for MUTE or for enabling/disabling the LEDs. I have Satellite A300 too and this button is for disabling LEDs only.
Have a look into this symbol and you will see it is not speaker but symbol for light.
Compare it with symbol on ESC button and you will see it is not the same.

  • Satellite P300-19P: Media Control buttons need to be pressed many times

Hi all, I'm a newbie to this forum, but I do love my Toshiba products!
I recently got a P300 19P and the touch sensitive media buttons at the top (mute, open media player, play/pause, stop, previous, next) buttons DO work, but only when i tap them something like 20 to 30 times repeatedly. Sometimes they work in just 5 or 6 taps, sometimes, it takes more like 50. What is going on here?
I would have thought it was something to do with windows media player having a lot of songs (only about a thousand to be honest), but that wouldn't explain the mute buttong being irresponsive.
(Windows Vista 32 bit home premium)
The LEDs all work fine though.... :-(

I will do that just now. Although at first, the first button on the far left was for muting the sound.
When the buttons were fully functional when I first bought it, it was a mute button. It has suddenly changed its function now. Is there any way of configuring the function of those buttons?
And I do touch them gently.
I just went into C:\Toshiba\Drivers\ValueAddedPackage and opened a file called ButtonSetting. I found this. (Note, I have not edited the text at all, and will not do so either unless advised otherwise).

Won't hurt to reinstall the driver. There are three listed for your model. The first two have the same version and release date, but the file size is different. Try them all.

  • Media control button isn't ON - Satellite P305D-S8828

I reformat my laptop and didn't save the drivers (boohoo!).
I can't use the touchpad and tried installing both Alps and Synaptic but neither works.
Another problem is that the Media Control Buttons (located beside the Power Button) are not lit.
I use the Media Buttons yesterday but when I turn the laptop on today, it wasn't lit.
Please help! I don' know what to do anymore...

    Hi
You could try to setup the multimedia button using the TOSHIBA Button Support.
The application in +Program Files\Toshiba\TBS\Backlight.exe+ controls the illumination

    Hi
The Satellite A305-S6872 seems to be a Toshiba US notebook and therefore you should take a look on the Toshiba US driver page:

There you should find your notebook model and the drivers.

  • Satellite A305-S6872 internal modem configuration for call waiting

Can someone point me to instructions for configuring the internal modem (suppose to be V.92) to work with call waiting on a Satellite A305-S6872?  I would like to be able to hear the phone ring when a call comes in when I am connected to my ISP so I can decide if I want to take the call.  Currently, I can configure the settings on my ISP to work with call waiting but I cannot hear the phone ring when I get a call.  My ISP tells me I have to configure the modem in the laptop.
    Thanks.

  • Changing media control button sounds

Good morning!  I just picked up a P505-S8980, and it is fantastic.  The sound made when a media control button is pressed, however, is awful, and I would like to change it.  I can't find it listed under the general sound controls - anyone know how I can do this?
    Much thanks!

The sound for the media pad can be turned off in the system bios

  • Media Control Button Problem

I can't turn on my wifi because the Media Control button for that function now starts my Windows Media Player instead.  This was not  problem until today.  The only change made yesterday was to download and install TouchPad drivers.  Any suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Try reinstalling TVAP.

  • Dell Vostro and iTunes [+media control buttons]

    Hi everybody!
Well, I have a Dell Vostro 1310 laptop.
It has media control buttons, as you can see in these images:
    http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=moto0388ha4.jpg
    http://img98.imageshack.us/my.php?image=moto0389iu3.jpg
    http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=moto0390ep2.jpg
The fact is: the control buttons work properly IF, and only IF, iTunes is the active window.
If it is not, they simply don't work.
Is there anything I can do to solve it?

    Hi espectral,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I'm fairly sure you'd need dedicated software to interface with the keyboard and iTunes, most often 'media' keys only work by coicidence. Therefore, you'd need software from Dell (or other 3rd party software to link iTunes to the keyboard.)
I don't think Dell specifically support Apple Software, but I know some other brands like Logitech do.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards,
    Peter.

  • Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q870 power button unresponsive but laptop powers up using media control button

Well this is perplexing, I could really use some help.
My power button on my Qosmio X505-Q870 is completely unresponsive. I've tried holding it for 30 seconds, but to no avail. I removed the battery & replaced the battery, testing the power button by pressing it for 30 seconds or rapidly pressing it - makes no difference whatsoever.  But then, I noticed if I touch the media touch button, the computer powers up! (And opens up Windows Media Player) Very stealthy...
Now when the laptop is already powered up, pressing the media button does not turn it off. It only opens Windows Media Player.
Here is some background info that may or may not be helpful:
    1 1/2 years ago:
RAM was upgraded to 8 MB
I replaced the HDD with a SSD, and then installed the HDD into the 2nd bay.
Computer has been running fine since these changes, aside from running hot when gaming.
    2 days ago:
I upgraded the SSD to a larger drive.
Then, I disassembled the laptop with the intent to apply some thermal compound and clean the fans to address the temperature issues.  I could not complete this task because 2 screws were stripped and I couldn't get the cover off, afterall.
I did not swap any connections, but did notice one seemed a bit loose after carefully lifting up the keyboard so I gently eased it back in to place.
I put the laptop back together, and that is when the power button and media center button issue began. So it must be a result of either opening the case or upgrading the SSD.
Any thoughts on what could be causing this to happen?
And if anyone has a trick to remove stripped screws without taking a drill to my laptop - I'd love to hear your ideas. Thanks!!

nTia89 wrote:try to downgrade the kernel with a working version
Thanks for your reply! Actually, yesterday I upgraded to the new kernel (version 3.4.3-1) and my laptop has not freezed since then. So, maybe I will wait for a couple of days and hopefully mark this as solved.

  • Satellite A305-S6858 win XP video driver not working

I recently bought a Satellite A305-S6858 in the States and I downgraded the Vista Home premium pre-installed
to Win XP 32 sp 3. I had several problems in getting the computer up and running. After reading several posts
on various forums I managed to install the OS but I am still unable to use the Intel video driver.
After installing the ones available on the toshiba web site I still have in Device Manager under the video adapter node
2 Mobile Chipset 965 entries with an exclamation point.
I recently discovered that not having the video driver installed the OS doesn't allow Stanby and Hibernate as power down options.
Has anyone stumbled in the same issue?
    Thank you

You need to install the Base drivers first.
Try installing the Intel Chipset Driver first, then the Display Driver.

  • Satellite A305-S6872 - S/P DIF output port (shared with headphone port)

The A305-S6872 manual specifies that I could use the same output port of the headphone  to get the S/PDIF digital sinal.
Can anyone help me to understand what is the right cable to use this output to take the audio digital signal to my home theater (which has a digital coax as input)?
If I use one cable P2 to RCA, the RCA and has 2 plugs (as P2 is stereo) - can I use one of the jacks to plug in the home theater coax digital input?
    Tks for your assistance,
    Best
    Rodrigo

    It's an optical digital out.
You need a optical mini to Toslink cable.
And, of course, a reciever or other decoder with an optical input.
The cable would be like the following:
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022902&p_id=1557&seq=1&format=2
Oh, and don't overpay for a cable from some big name brand, you're just paying for marketing smoke and mirrors.

  • Satellite Pro L20: TouchPad control button has collapsed

I have reported two other faults with my notebook in other posts, in relation to those this is very minor but its still very annoying:
The left TouchPad control button on my notebook, usually evenly supported from below, appears to have given way on one side, so that it does not operate with the same spring action on one side of the left button. It wobbles like a loose tooth.
Is this sort of problem easily fixed? Until i get a USB mouse i'm stuck with the TouchPad, but the persistent sound of the plastic surfaces scratching against each other is infuriating!

Just short comment to your posting: I have noticed that the quality of mouse buttons on the notebooks is not the same. On my Tecra it is really perfect and pressure on any point gives the same result but on low budget notebooks, like L series, it is not the case.
I know that it is pretty annoying but unfortunately there is nothing to do. Because of that the usage of external mouse is reasonable.
