Re Set up Z30

I did a back up of my current BB and then did a complete switch to my new Z30.  The only problem is that I never started using my new phone and that was months ago...I was looking for the perfect case.
How do I go about removing all the "stuff", contacts, calendar, Memo pad etc from the Z30 so I can start from scratch and do the transfer again?
I also noticed the Z30 does not have a Memo Pad nor a Password Keeper, I was sure they were on my Bold 9900 when I got it...how do I also transfer this info as well.
Your assistace would be much appreciated.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

To get rid of all the "stuff", do a security wipe. Swipe down from the top of your homescreen then follow Settings>Security and Privacy>Security Wipe.
Password Keeper can be downloaded from BlackBerry World and I'm pretty sure if you sign in to it with the same BB ID you used with the previous one, all your info should transfer over.
In BB 10, Memo Pad is now known as the Remember app.
I hope that helps you.

  • Portege Z30-A-18M - cannot set native resolution on external display

    Hi,
I have tried to connect two different full HD displays to my Portege Z30-A-18M and I was unable to set the native resolution - maximal resolution that I can set for those is 1680x1050... I wasn't so surprised with the first one as I had some troubles with native resolution when I was connecting it to the Satellite laptop that I had before. But then the same happened when I tried the other display.
I thought that this laptop can handle higher external resolution... Is there a way how to force the native resolution for the external diplays in Windows 7?
    Thanks!

Well, I wanted to use it as extended desktop... But I tried now to set it only to external device and I am still getting 1680x1050 as max
Just a note, the first display was connected with analog (D-SUB) and the second with digital (HDMI) ...
Is there a way how to override the maximum and set my own custom resolution?

  • Setting number of days e-mails/messages stay on Z30 device?

I have a z30 and finding that my e-mails that were staying for about 30 days is now only going back a week on those I have received. I remember on my other BB units that I could set them to stay 30, 60 days? I thought I had seen this feature on my Z30 but **bleep** if I can find it. Please tell me where to find it. Thx

Sync interval is how often to sync the mail account with server
sync time frame is what tell device on how long messages stay on device

    Make restarted the z30?
If your problem evidences the persistence
Apply a hard reset keep the power button for 30 seconds.

I recommend you make a reload of the BlackBerry OS Link
Connect your z30 and run BBLink

  • BB10 Lack of support manual set APN

I have bought a Z10 stl100-3 directly and not from the carrier and made sure that it should work according to the frequencies and all specs in my country (Israel) but when i want to set to my operator, the APN i can't the BB10 OS doesn't save the APN and due to that I have only abilities of voice and SMS..
Since Blackberry has now started selling the phone directly to customers and not via carriers it need to support us
the users with ability to set the APN manually !!
why all simple android devices 3 generation olde like 2.3 can set APN and this "advanced" BB10 OS (10.2) is behind and not able to save the APN setting and connect to data network and mms ?!
I expect full support from you on this or money back !!

    Labba wrote:
well.. android devices can configure it with my carrier in israel (Hot/Golan) but the BlackBerry device can't ?! and you say it's the carrier issue ?! how so ?! i manually configuring the APN in the Android device and it works..
when i try to do the same in the Z10 Stl100-3 device it doesn't work!!
so don't tell me that this is a carrier  issue ! this is the device issue !!!
It is a carrier issue, because the carriers are locking the APN into the SIM, and since the BlackBerry device are security oriented device, they are checking whether the APN setting on the SIM are locked or not, if the carrier as not lock it then you can edit them.
So do not blame BlackBerry for doing what it is suppose to do, respecting the way the technology is made and following the standard, if the android or other phane maker are not following the standard, it is not BlackBerry's fault

  • Microsoft Calendar – BB Z30 Fix – Well it worked for me!

I am an avid MS Outlook user on my home PC and where I am based at work (I'm freelance). I chose my Z30 because I have owned BB’s before and they were excellent with synchronising to Outlook, but had strayed to Apple then Samsung but found my way back to BB because the calendars wouldn't work as I needed them! So think of what I felt when my brand shining new Z30, would no longer do what my previous BB’s did for breakfast! Since that fatal day I have literally tried every fix I could read from these and many other blogs, but to no avail. I was about to launch this Z30 out of an open window, when a light bulb inside my head suddenly got switched on.
Could MS Outlook.com be the answer? It was a similar plan to one I had already tried using my Easily,co.uk calendar with an Open exchange server (recommended and downloadable from Easily.co.uk), but one which had completely and utterly failed; and Easily.co.uk to my horror were less than useless in trying to resolve all the issues I had trying to employ this solution!
Anyway, I registered for a MS Outlook.com email account. I already have my own personal domain and email (let’s call this mydomain.co.uk) account with Easily.co.uk which I forwarded direct to my new outlook.com account. My initial fear was that by using Outlook.com all my emails would be addressed outlook.com. But MS in their infinite wisdom provide options to add email accounts and for the user to be able to promote your chosen one to be the default primary. So the first issue out of the way!
The next thing was to create a new email account in my MS Outlook using [email protected] via MS’s very own Exchange ActiveSync! All I had to do was to:
Goto E-mail Accounts; New; chose E-Mail Account; [Next]; then enter: Your Name; email address ([email protected]); password (my outlook.com password); retype password (as before); (Next) and away it goes and creates your new exchange account!
Now your new account includes your email, calendar and contacts!!! It will show up at the top of your folder list (left hand side) possible named [email protected] (or whatever your email address is). SIMPLES!
But here comes the tricky part, as much as you are attached to the safety of the bosom of your PST/IMAP outlook, it’s time to say goodbye and go out into the big wide world of exchange services! BUT FIRST LOCATE AND MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT PST or OST and ARCHIVE FILES. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Next is to delete your PST/IMAP email (NOT YOUR DATA FILES): WARNING Do not delete your data files if asked (as you will lose any emails contained in there)!!!!
Goto E-mail Accounts; highlight your pst or imap email account; chose [Remove]! You should be left at minimum with your new outlook.com account! Then go to the Data Files tab and you should see your new data file [email protected] and possibly your pst/imap data files! If you can’t see these and you wish to keep these in operation, you can add them by clicking add; then navigating to where your pst/ost file was and click on it. There it should be loaded and all your old folders should reappear, once again in the left hand folder list possibly named ‘Mailbox’ but whatever your pst/imap file was named.
Now as the calendar was my biggest issue, the thing you need to do now is make your new outlook.com calendar the primary (in fact I no longer use my pst version – it’s still there for prosperity but no longer used). I did a combination of copying the entries from old to new (do this by showing both calendars side by side and literally moving an event from old to new) however, for everything to sync properly I would recommend that you resend any work events from your work pc again (as not all behaved as expected when I originally copied them over) and any local events redo in the new calendar. I know it’s frustrating and ball-aching but the results will far outweigh this!
Now its time for the BB Z30! Goto Settings; accounts; [Add Account]; [Advanced} [outlook.com]; fill in the relevant blanks. If outlook.com does not appear on the advanced page, return to add account; enter your outlook.com email address; [Next]; enter your outlook.com password; [Next] and the email app should go away and find all the correct settings and that should be that, you should be set up with your new account.
Once it was all complete and I knew my emails were all working I deleted my old account. I then crossed my fingers, my toes and even my eyes, and went to calendar, ticked the show calendar box and there she was! Brilliant, I hear you say, but NO! Only a few of the events eventually started to show! Disaster and quite a few expletives burst from my mouth! I was extremely gutted!
However I decided to persevere and so the next day I sent myself a new invite from my work PC and it was delivered to my BB. I opened it and pressed [Accept] and it placed the invite exactly where it should. Success! I then altered my event on my work PC and sent an update and once again success, it was delivered and I accepted and it updated! I then cancelled the event on the PC, and received the cancel notice opened it and hit [Remove] and it did it! Absolutely brilliant and exactly what I needed it do! This type of thing isn't rocket science, but it had taken nearly 4 months to get here!!!!
So then I noticed one or two more events had appeared in my calendar! Strange or what and over the next few days they all turned up! So do be patient! Now my home PC calendar and my Z30 are in full sync, emails and calendar and even contacts!
All I will add is that this worked for me, I hope it works for you but I can’t accept any blame if it causes any of your pc’s or phones any harm, damage or loss of critical data. ALWAYS BACK THINGS UP FIRST! Good Luck!

i have done similar for my wife, active sync with a smart phone works well with outlook.

  • Problem synching Z30 with Blackberry Link

    Hi there,
I'm having problems synching my Z30 calendar and contacts with my Blackberry Link. I'm getting the following error message:
    "Sync was unsuccessful

Can anyone out there help, please?

  • Z30 Stuck in wrong password mode

My beautiful Z30 is about a month old and a day ago it started up saying I've had five failed attempts to enter the password (which was not true). Whatever I enter then, and however many times, including "blackberry" when prompted, I remain on five failed attempts. Is there any way to get out of this infinite loop?!  Is there any explanation? Is there any action less drastic than finding how to take out the battery and taking it out? (assuming that would work!) Does BlackBerry have any help desk or help email system? So annoying - I can sill receive calls and see notifications of emails and texts and calendar alerts, but I can access nothing.... I love the Z30 - don't let me be disappointed!

I'm begining to get a feeling that my Z30 lives with two passwords (though, as far as I'm aware, it knows about only one of my many e-addresses, while of course it collects all their emails). Is this the case? 1    One password is for getting working with the machine after switch-on or wake-up from sleep - this is (for me anyway) a four-digit numeric password which offers the numeric keypad. Sometimes Z30 suddenly says I have my last chance to type this correctly, though it hasn't been typed incorrectly - and the warning is a 15-minute lock-out, after which all is fine again. Anyway, there's an option at that point to press Cancel ... and the machine goes on working happily without the 15-minute lockout. (I hope that's clear!) 2    The second password offers an alphanumeric keyboard and this is the one that threatens complete re-setting to factory defaults. I believe this is an eight-character minimum password, in my case, but am not sure. Possibly this is the background to the problem which Cory mentions? [Until a couple of weeks ago my BB was a Curve. Every so often, usually first thing in the morning, it would suddenly ask in tiny print for a password and get angry if this wasn't entered within about three seconds. I *think* Z30 is better in this regard (as it is in almost all others)!] Good luck, Cory - and everyone.

  • Using gmail as a backup for Z30 contacts

If I open a Google account and get a gmail address, will it backup (sych) my Contacts (1,800) that are already on my Z30, or will I have to re-enter them after setting up a gmail address....thanks!

Here's what I'd do if it were me. Create a new Outlook.com account then proceed with the following:
Create a new Outlook profile on your PC. Might as well set up a profile that goes to the new Outlook.com address while you're at it, but you don't have to.
    Plug in the device.
    Open Link
Click on the gear icon at the upper right.
Then at the bottom you should see two "tabs." One will be your computer name and the other should say "BlackBerry-XXXX" Click on the BlackBerry-XXXX tab.
Make a full backup of the device. You never know, anything can happen with tech and you want to be able to restore if you have to.
Under Synchronization click on Configure. Choose the profile you created for the Outlook.com address. Again, the profile doesn't have to be connected to the Outlook.com account if you don't want it to. It can be just a blank account.
Check the box for Contacts and uncheck for calendar (nless you want that data too).. Configure the sync for "1-Way Sync to Your Computer."
Once the data is in Outlook then export the contact to a file that you can import into Outlook.com.

    2. If your issue has been solved, please resolve it by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

  • Info on switching from a older BB to a Z30

Fyi...The Z30 comes loaded with "BB Protect" app, but it no longer backs up contacts calendar, or contact group emails. It is basically only a locator app in case u lose ur phone. Sad, cuz It always backed up my data on the BB server, not just on the Desktop Manager, which isn't as safe as a cloud backup.....HOWEVER, u can use "Protect" one more time, and that's when ur setting up ur Z30 for the first time. At that time u can go to "Protect" and hit Restore. That will bring ur contacts, and more importantly, your contact groups over from ur Bold (in my case) to ur Z30. That's big for me cuz I have 100's of contacts in email groups, and as yet, there is no way to restore contacts groups, like BB Protect always did on the legacy BB's....just wanted to pass this on to anyone concerned about losing their groups...oops, one more thing. Until an update comes out, there is no way to send email groups on a Z30...so u can download SMSbyNow app to create and send group emails from a Z30. It's a great app. Btw, if anyone knows of a way or an app to backup and restore contact groups, please pass it on...please!

  • Z30 - keeping the dial pad "lit" when in a call

I have been struggling with the lack of a physical keyboard and trackpad since being upgraded to the z30.  I've discovered a related problem with the touch screen dial pad.  What am I missing?
I placed a call that was answered with an automated reception.  It required me to press certain numbers and spell names to get my call directed to the right place.  However, the screen kept "blanking out" during the call.  Is there a setting that will allow me to keep the screen "lit" whenever I am on a call?
For example, it would say "press pound", so I would pull the phone away from my head, and look at the phone and it was unlit.  I would touch the screen (sometimes multiple times) until it would light.  Then I would press pound, but by the time I had done this, the window to do so with the automated reception had timed out.  So the automated call system would repeat the question, by which time the screen would have blacked out again.  Each time I had to "recussitate" the screen before I could press whatever command was required by the automated call system.  Often it took too long to get the screen lit again and I had to be re-prompted.  It was quite frustrating for something that used to be so simple with a physical keyboard.

    TAdvisorKing wrote:
I think you are mistaken.  My screen time-out is set for 5 minutes.
The time-out of the dial-pad screen appears to be instantaneous, once the call is placed.
i just tried it on mine with a call and it went off in 30 seconds, then set to one minute and it timed out in one minute

I use to see my phone number in the Setting /security & privacy / SIM CARD....
and now I can't see it anymore on my  Z30 / BB 10.2.1.3062.
Why but How can I have my phone number back on the display ?

Can you edit it in Settings >Security and Privacy >Sim Card? If not, try rebooting the device by holding the power button down for about 10 seconds, through the countdown, through the red LED, and until you see the BB logo again. See if the number populates. If that doesn't work remove the sim and reboot the phone again as described above. Then insert the sim and do it again.
