Re: Slide Show Mirror Image
I have recently upgraded to iWeb 08. I was hoping to be able to control the use or nonuse of the Mirror Image in the slideshow mode. There is not a way to disallow
this mirror imaging. Any way this can be done simply??
Look at Inspector -> Photos -> Slideshow tab -> Appearance -> Show reflection.

When I create a DVD slide show, the images on TV are 4:3 instead of 16:9. Fix? (Using version 11.)
Hi Christina,
I used it because other facets of my work in graphics require conversion, not just FCP, so I am used to popping it open quickly using it on the fly, in the field when shooting. I back up, then convert typically on my laptop while it sits on the seat of my pickup while I am photographing the next portion of the training. I do have the files backed up (in ordered structure as shot and preserved on the cards) both on my laptop, also mirrored in the RAID and once again on a second external firewire LaCie and make sure that every little file is in there as it should be. Thanks for the info. on that though, appreciate it. Will probably switch to using FCP to that level of Log and Capture in the future because it seems more basic. I am not sure using L&C would make any difference on the problem I seem to be having here. I will create a small sample file and give it a try for future reference. Again, thank you.
Up until this week the Quicktime conversions I have been creating and composing from have been compressed in H.264 (720 X 480 to fit our LMS stage), and have been working well without a hitch. And 8 of the 11 of these sequences are still exported to a true 16:9 without a hitch. They are sharp, bright and the color is great. The three orphans are also sharp with good color, however squished from side to side. It simply makes no sense that data that has been saved identically, edited identically and exported with identical settings would change in mid-stream like that.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I do appreciate that very much. -
I have the most horrible muse bug ever with slide shows mixing images up
Hi there. I'm making a comic. I uploaded multiple episodes of the comic - each to it's own slideshow in adobe muse. However the pages in the various slideshows are mixing up with my other slideshows. At first I thought it was just a caching problem in preview mode of muse because after uploading all looked okay and my on-line website looked perfect. However suddenly today several of the comics have the wrong images in them. I did nothing in the assets window. It was all working (at least on line where it counts) until now. this is a disaster. My poor website.
I uploaded it to my own website but if anyone wants to see I can also upload to BC.
this problem appeared again (but on upload as well today) after I switched off the thumbnails. maybe that is a clue as it was working until then (at least online).
Please help me - I am desperate. And no, I do not wish to rename all the pages in my comic from page 1.jpg to page 1_comic4.jpg etc to give each image (page of my comic) a unique name. I would have thought I could have same name assets that are different images. To rename all my images and put them back into muse would be so much work it would probably be easier for me just to go back to iweb and wait for easyweb to come out.I have batch renamed all my assets, deleted all my slideshow thumb nails and replaced them so none of the images in my slide show have the same name as other assets anymore. I am sure this is what caused the problem. I am about to reupload my website, so you won't be able to see the problem anymore (I sincerely hope).
The problem wasn't always reproducible. To be able to reproduce the bug you need 10 different slideshows (all with images called page_1.jpg, page_2.jpg etc with more than 50 pages in some of the galleries, and then you have to upload the slideshows, make changes to the website, upload again, then make more changes to the website, then go to all the galleries one at a time with the thumbnails visable then uncheck the show thumbnails box for all the different slideshows and upload again. -

Hi
the output form iDVD is very poor quality( Low res due to compression by iDVD) when I produce a slide show in iPhoto and share it over to iDVD then burn it. What is the solution? I like to add the title page in idvd ads it looks professional, but hte end output in NOT professional.
Also in iDVD the soundtrack that was flawless in iphoto now jstutters every 99 images and IDVD apparantly can only process bulk images in chapters that contain 99 images. So if you have a slide show with 245 images in you get hesitation at two points of teh slideshow as it struggles to start the next set of 99 images in the slide show!!! How annoying overall. Please help??????There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico: http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

Slide Show doubles images on import
All photos I drop into a slide show are duplicated and deleting one automatically deletes the other. please advice
dogsnack:
You're not duplicating the file, only creating an alias or pointer to the original file. That way you can use the same photo is multiple slideshows, albums, books and only have one actual image file in the library. If you delete a photo from the main library it will delete all occurrences of it within the library.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
Screen image is fragmented shows mirror image
The screen on my boyfriend's 13 inch MacBook Air suddenly started showing a mirror image of about half the screen. After rebooting it, now the screen image is fragmented and the menu bar won't come up. Of course this would happen on a Sunday. Any help would be appreciated!
Good Morning Gutenberg_Girl,
If the display on your MacBook Air is distorted, try the following:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays - Apple Support

Hi, my i-phone 3GS suddenly started showing all text in reverse or mirror image when it wakes or is switched on. By toggling the on/off swtich it may revert to normal eventually but it takes time. Problem is recurrent for 3 days and makes the phone unusable in a hurry. Any explanations or solutions.
Add me to the list of disgruntled users who have had this same problem since upgrading to 3.1. After restarting the phone, it works for about 30-40 minutes and after that, no calls, no texts, no voicemails, no 3G web browsing or email (wi-fi still works).
The tech at the Genius Bar (at the 3rd St. Santa Monica, CA store) seemed as though he had no idea what the problem was. Since my phone is out of warranty, he told me that if the phone needed to be replaced, it would be at my expense, which p*ssed me off, since it was obvious (to me) that the OS update was at fault.
I did a half-dozen restores before I realized that there was no way to roll back to a previous version of the OS and that outside of that, it didn't really matter what I did.
I just read the tip on this thread about turning off 3G. It works fine so far. We'll see if it continues to work after the dreaded 40-minute mark.
Thanks, everyone, for the help. Hopefully, Apple will put out a fix quickly, before they have a revolt on their hands. -
Acrobat Pro Extended 9.1.3 shows mirror image for second pdf
When I open a second PDF using Acrobat Pro Extended 9.1.3 the second file is shown as an enlarged text "mirror image." Has anyone else experienced this behavior?
One of our users is having a similar problem. He always leaves Elements open in the background so I'm wondering if this is causing problems when he downloads and opens pdfs using Acrobat Standard 9. He also seeing the images stretch to the point of seeing a bunch of horizontal lines. Has anyone offered any solutions?

Images in slide show appear in low res
Why are images in the slideshow appearing in low resolution? Inside Muse I can click on an image in the lightbox section of the slide show and choose "Edit Original" which brings up the image in Photoshop. The image is 1097 x 1462 pixels. However, after publishing the site and navigating to the slide show, the image appears the right size on screen but looks very low resolution and is only 270 x 360 pixels when drag-copied to the desktop. I thought Muse was supposed to take care of all the resizing of images/assets as it published the site to the web (in my case, Business Catalyst). I tried doing a "Upload: All Files" when publishing, but no luck.
I guess, you have turned HiDPI output on. Just look here:
Photo aspect ratio incorrect when "placing" into Muse
And: If you place a picture in a 488 x 650 frame, and the picture is 1097 x 1462 pixels large, you force Muse to sample it down. If you place an image exactly with its size, Muse doesn’t touch it at all. -

Leaps beyond the ordinary...
Efficient code and buttery smooth animations make for a truly
engaging
user experience. Slide Shows and individual images can be
bookmarked and
all images can be viewed - even if JavaScript is disabled.
Search Engine Friendly
Unlike many of today's Flash and AJAX applications, Slide
Show Magic
markup is always fully visible and indexable by leading
search engines.
Auto-Choreographed Animation
Slide Show Magic detects the size of each incoming full-size
image. If
it's the same size as the current image, the system will
employ a smooth
cross-fader - simultaneously fading out the current image as
the new one
fades in. If the incoming image is a different size than the
current
one, the system will fade out the current image, glide the
image
container to the size of the incoming image, then fade the
new image in.
It's all automatic.
Staged preloader
When the slide show is running in automatic mode, the system
will
preload the next image as the current one is being shown,
providing a
seamless experience in most cases.
Intuitive toolbar controls
The on-page toolbar contains conventional media controls:
First,
Previous, Play, Pause, Next, and Last buttons. It also
contains a slider
bar that allows users to adjust the slide show timing, plus
buttons to
toggle visibility of the thumbnail display and navigation
menu, and an
image counter.
Drag-enabled thumbnail panel
The Thumbnail panel can be dragged about the screen, enabling
users to
fine-tune the interface for best viewing of the show.
Full-Size images can be hyperlinks
Each full-size image can optionally be set as a hyperlink to
another
page, programmed to open in a new window or tab.
Image descriptions
Each full-size image can display an optional description,
which can
contain any type of valid markup (paragraphs, tables, DIVs,
lists,
links, or images).
Automated image processing with Fireworks...
Web-ready images are automatically produced from your
original images,
which can be located on any drive connected to your computer
- including
drives mounted by your digital camera. Slide Show Magic
handles all
image processing automatically - preserving your original
files in their
original locations in their original and unaltered states.
Your images
are scaled, optimized, and neatly organized into folders
within your
defined site.
Import your existing images...
Point to a folder (or folders) that contain your existing
full-size and
thumbnail image and Slide Show Magic will match them up and
add them to
your slide show - unaltered and ready to view.
Organize Images into sets
Slide Show Magic enables you to define logical image sets and
organizes
the thumbnail panel into navigable sets.
Mix landscape and portrait orientations
Your images are never distorted in any way. Original aspect
ratios are
always preserved. Use both landscape and portrait images in
the same
slide show.
Deploy alone or inside existing layouts
Slide Show Magic can be inserted on a page by itself or
inside an
existing page.
Select from 6 Themes
Select a dark toolbar, a light toolbar, shadow boxes (in 3
sizes), or an
image rotator interface. Style themes can even be switched
for existing
slide shows.
Manage it all inside a dedicated Dreamweaver Interface
Add (append) new images
Delete images or re-order them
Manage Descriptions, links, and ALT text
Edit existing full-size or Thumbnail images
Reprocess all of your slide show's images
And lots more, including a comprehensive manual and free tech
support.

Can I use movie trailers with a slide show
I want to create a slide show of images and movie clips and I would like to use a movie trailer in conjuction with it---Is that possible?
Mackerel, meet MSM. MSM, meet Mackerel. You two are peas in a pod, at least with respect to your slide show plans and needs.
What you both want to do is exactly what presentation programs like PowerPoint and Keynote are made for. You could also do a version of it in Adobe Acrobat, and you could even cobble up some sort of horrible kludgy substitute in Word or any other word processor that can hold photographs (though the resulting document would be so enormous it might handle at truly glacial speed).
What you can't do in any of these programs, or in any other that I know of, is automate the placement of a text block that's associated with each picture. That you'd have to do manually. So if you don't like work, you'll either have to find another application that does the job without you, or hand your text out in printed form. -
Slide show format in PSE6 for SLR and HDTV (16:9) format
I have a 16:9 monitor and I want to create slide shows using images taken from a DSLR in the 3:2 format. The images are scaled in PSE6 to the default 4:3 slide area.
When I send the slide show to a HDTV format the images are still confined to the default 4:3 box of the slide show.
Is there a possibility to change the default format for a slide show in PSE6 from 4:3 to 3:2 (DSLR format) or HDTV.
Best Regards
WolfgangIt all depends on how you crop the pictures. If you're doing a 16:9 slide show, and you don't want any black edges, you'll need to use nothing but horizontal pictures in the same proportions as 16:9.
Unclick auto KB, and you can set the focal point yourself on each slide. Auto KB is a quick fix thing, for those times when you don't care about cropping and focal point. If you do care about that stuff, you'll need to set each picture with it's own KB effect, either moving in or out based on the content of the picture. Auto KB is never going to be smart enough to do that for you. -
Garage Band made soundtrack to Quicktime slide show
Hi....I've made a soundtrack in Garage Band of 2 tracks of prerecorded music and a third voice over track. It's only about 2 minutes in length. I would like it to accompany a slide show of images I'm making in Quicktime. Can such a music file be imported into Quicktime? Do I have to join the individual tracks together somehow in order to do that? A suggested workflow would be appreciated. Thanks!
PowerBook 17" & G4 Quicksilver desktopThis is where ilife 06 has been improved. GB will let you open your imovie "slide show" in GB and create your music and voice over and export as .mov. Also with the better integration between the iapps you could make the slide show in iphoto and just choose your GB file from the media browser. Same with imovie.
I know this can be done with 05 but apple has really done a beautiful job with 06. Now I'm not saying everyone should upgrade but if you do use other iapps it is well worth the price.
