Reactivate email sub account

I have a sub account which I deactivated some time ago and now wish to activate but there is no option to do this in my BT. I have spoken to a BT person who seemed to think there should be a dectivate button in "manage  email accounts". This person promised to pass the problem to " a specialist" and callme back with a solution. That was 5 days ago. Anyone know how to do this ?

  • Re: Cannot verify an email sub account

    Please help.
I had an email sub account last year which was verified without any problems. Unfortunately I deleted that sub account by mistake this year.
The sub account I'm after is waiting to be verified in my primary account but I cannot receive the verification email. I used to get 553 error but having just got a new laptop I thought I'd try verification again but can't get the verification email and no 553 messages.
I called BT and get told it's impossible for me to get an email address I originally had back again.
    Can you help please?
    Thank you.

    Hi.
Indication is that the sub acconut time limit for re-use is now 110 days. It used to be 90 days, but that appears to have altered.

  • Restore or Retrive Email Sub Account

Hope someone can help. I had and email address as a sub account on my partners BT broadband account. We have now split and she has deleted by email sub account. Is there any way I can recover the account or even the email address as I am awaiting several important emails. Many Thanks

I encountered the exact same problem with a friend a couple of years ago. If I recall you have to act quickly, contact Tech Support - you'll have to get your ex's permission. It took several days but in the end my friends email account was restored AND all her emails recovered. It did help that both she and her ex were BT customers.

  • Verizon email sub account storage

How do I increase the storage size for a email sub account?

Verizon sub accounts only get 250 MB of email storage. There is no way to change that limit.
If you need more space, you might consider downloading your mail to a client (Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, etc.) instead of keeping it on Verizon's servers. That way you are only limited by the amount of space on your pc. The downside of this is that your email is only stored on the one computer.
I believe portalling with Yahoo bumps the limit up for subs, but there are limitations there as well. It seems Yahoo isn't available for customers in areas that are moving to Frontier.
An alternate "solution" is to get a free address somewhere else. (Gmail, for example, offers over 7 gigs of space.) You can either use the free address as your email address, or simply forward all of your verizon.net mail to it and set up your @verizon.net address as a reply address within that account. With some domains, you can even set up your verizon.net account as a pop3 account, and use them in a fashion similar to OE, but have your content available on the web.
Hopefully this information is helpful to you.

  • Can't set up new email sub-account

I would like to be able to set up a new email sub-account.  I've logged into my top level BT Yahoo email account OK and selected Account Info under the gear wheel, and get a verify password dialogue (all as advised on the relevant help page).  I enter the correct password and then get a CAPTCHA dialogue consisting of moving text waving up and down behind other moving random text (NOT mentioned in the help pages!).  I enter the appropriate text and press 'Continue'...and nothing happens.  It should go through to dialogues allowing me to manage my sub-accounts, but it doesn't.
Am I doing something wrong?  I have tried clearing the browser cache and repeated the process about four times with always the same result.
Any help much appreciated.  The Indian call centre were not able to help.

The BT account holder should have access to MYBT (or whatever you want to call it) by means of a username and password, not an email address. Once in the account, all forms of administration can then be carried out including setting an email address for correspondence, access to BTFON etc. Further email addresses could also be set up for users under the account management.
Ahhhhhhhhhh Licquorice, that is how us poor minions without a raft of letters behind our names would do it, I think simple logic is the word.
However, as in many walks of life today there are those with supposed qualifications and exerience who, in developing systems etc, appear to want to stamp a bit of their selves in whatever they do, by showing how they can deal with and produce complex systems......................................... when a simple one would suffice.
    A simple analogy.
Remember the Americans spending millions of dollars and wasting thousnds of man hours developing a biro that would write in zero gravity......................... the Russians decided a pencil was best.

  • Email sub account issue

I have set up an email sub account with a separate yahoo login and password for my wife and configured thunderbird as her email client. However whenever she tries to get her email her password is rejected. But when she logs in through webmail her password is accepted... And thereafter thunderbird accepts her password too. Unfortunately when she logs off and tries to log on again, the pattern repeats

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
That issue seems to affect some people and not others, I have personally not had this particular issue in general.
Recommended things to do are to make sure that no other device is polling for emails at the same time, e.g. tablets/smartphones, change the password (it shouldn't need it).
However if you've just added the email address, I've known for pop3 access via a mail client to take a few hours (even days) to kick into life. So it might be a case of trying every few hours to see if it then works.

  • Bt email sub account problem

    Hi
i have been trying to make my first email sub account but with no luck, I set up the account fine but when I try an sign in with it I get the invalid email message come up and can't sign in, I have checked in the manage sub account tab but it says I have no sub account made, I have tried making several more but am still having the same issue? Can someone please help with this I would really appreciate it

I had a similar problem yesterday when trying to create a sub account for one of my granddaughters.
Lots of similar messages which I eventually figured out. It was due to the e-mail address already in use on the system by  something else, perhaps a lapsed or suspended one?
There is some strange "error" message which comes up when you try and create the sub account.
I did eventually find an e-mail address that was accepted.
Out of interest, I tried to create one that I knew existed already, and got the expected "in use" message.
My conclusion was that if you try to create an e-mail address which has been somehow blocked by Yahoo, then you get unpredictable error messages, and not the normal expected one.
That's what I concluded on the other thread I mentioned, though I felt it was a lapsed old primary rather than a suspended one - though I guess it's equally as likely. In the other thread there was no error message, just a congratulations for creating a new account

I downloaded the verizon in home agent, talked to several verizon on line help agents who did a remote assist session. I have to explain the problem over and over again and they do the same thing over and over again. I know the definition of insanity, however the sub accounts still do not work.
Contact tech support through one of the options on the Contact Us page. Explain the issue and that you need a ticket sent to the "OSC" for this issue to get resolved. If they won't create a ticket for you, ask to speak to a supervisor. (Being polite will get you further than yelling, trust me.)
The error you are getting means that what Verizon has in their system for that account does not match what Yahoo has in their system. This is not something that first-level support is going to be able to resolve.

  • Email sub-Account deleted

One of my email sub-accounts has been deleted.  I did not delete it and Verizon tech support claims they did not delete it.  They told me they can not restore it.  They say I should recreate it.  I can not recreate it because the web site says it is not an available user ID.  I created another sub-account and tried to use the same alias.  The web site says the alias is in use.  I emailed the deleted sub-account  from another email address and get a reply: smpt 550 4.2.1 mailbox is temporarily disabled.  This is an old vze@xxxxx user Id's with an alias. My wife has had this email address for as long as we have had Verizon DSL.  Please help keep peace in the family.  How can I get this account re-created or re-enabled?
    Thanks in advance.

As long as it has never been deleted and restored before, it can be restored. If the tech support agent tells you it can't be done, ask for their supervisor. They will have to send a ticket to another department, and it will probably take 24-48 hours, but it is possible.
If you didn't delete it, I would strongly recommend re-securing your primary account. Change your password and secret answer to something complex and not easy to guess, and run a virus scan on your pc.

  • Email sub account locked out & won't unlock

My "primary" email account already went through the verizonwireless annoyance now, one of my "sub" email accounts is locked due to excessive failed attempts. Ok, normally I can deal with that. However, when prompted to change password & security question - it is defaulting to my PRIMARY account NOT my SUB account.
After going through the prompts and making the changes - my SUB account issue is still UNRESOLVED. Anyone else having this problem???
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello grahamgv
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.
Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.
To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".
Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Add a way to find or reset password of email sub accounts

There is currently no way to find the password of sub accout email addresses.  It is easy to retrieve or reset the password of your primary Verizon email address.  It is impossible to do this for sub accounts.....or it is incredibly well hidden.  PLease fix this!

My response from a previous thread (which I found easily with the SEARCH feature):
You change a forgotten password for a sub account the same way you do for the primary account. There's a "Forgot Password" link that will reset it for you once you answer the Secret Question, or you can contact Technical Support and they can reset it for you. There are several options for getting in touch with someone in Tech Support on the Contact Us page.

  • Server rejection of email sub account passwords.

    Hi,
In addition to my principle BT Yahoo email account address, I have a further 3 sub accounts which are used by my family. In the last 24hours or so, the mail clients used on all our computers/tablets (Windows Mail Live, Thunderbird & Android) have all been unable to recieve email on the sub accounts. For some reason the principle account email address is working fine. At least two of these sub accounts have been in use for at least 5 years and i know the passwords off by heart. I have also gone through the BT recommended settings countless times without any successs. I have also just come off the BT Tech helpline (0800 1114567)  who could not offer any explaination why i could not log on to my sub accounts.
Is this problem a consequence of the seperation of BT and Yahoo, or I read somewhere that too many devices trying to access the email servers at the same time can lock the email address. If so how do i unlock them
    Thanks for reading
    Mike Carroll

Welcome to the forum. The problem has been around for a long time, and is more likely a reason for the dumping of Yahoo! than a consequence of it. It usually rights itself eventually and it's sometimes possible to cure it simply by logging into webmail to view your mailbox. Otherwise there's no known cure in advance of the new email platform.

When did that change? Last I was aware, there was a department that could restore deleted sub accounts ONE TIME. I know it at least used to be possible.

  • How can I change my work email (sub account) to my own verizon account?

I want to keep my email intact. I have retired and my work sub-account needs to be changed to my personal account to make sure I don't lose it.

And what happens if you leave Verizon because you move out of its service area?  I know, unlikely, but it happens.
You can email your contact list from your old email account and merge with new account.   Look for a sharing function in your work email contact list.
You can then forward your work email to while you transition your contacts to your new email address.
I Recommend switching to safe, public Gmail account.  Unlike Yahoo, it isn't over-run with spam.
Gmail is free and will save all your contacts for use on any device.  As a way to move your information, going through gmail is very effective.
You can use gmail as the default but still use Verizon email. This way your contact list is always saved in a public email account.
