Reader 8 Overwrote Acrobat Standard 6...now what? Help!

I had Acrobat 6.0 Standard on my system. Have now installed Reader 8. Now I have no access to Acrobat 6.0 Standard. Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Quit all instance of Reader including the ones listed in Window's task manager. Then repair Acrobat to reestablish the system's registry settings and file association to Acrobat and not Reader. Make sure your Reader preferences are set to not change system settings at startup.
And this issue is why Adobe recommends against this configuration!!!

Replaced hard drive now what help

I =have the crt imac snow edition, I replaced hard drive all I get is a blue globe on start up, I have the software restore disc have placed it in nothing happens tried the holding down c key to start from the cd, Nothinh happens I have read numerous threads hoping to find the answer.

First of all, are you sure the CD you inserted is truely bootable and designed for your iMac (and not specific to another different Mac)?
Anyways to reset PRAM, while turning on your iMac, hold down Option + Cmd + P + R (I know, hard to do that 4 key combo).. and you should hear some "boing" sound, wait until you hear two "boings" then you can release and try to hold down 'C' again to boot your CD... I think that's how that works... someone can correct me or clarify if I'm not 100% correct....

Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (Acrobat standard 8) When saving Crashes

When I attempt to save a previously created pdf adobe closes without saving. Doesnt matter what pdf or where I save it. Any suggestions? Anyone know Adobe's default working directory?

This might be due to insufficient permissions on system folders or interference by some 3rd party applications.
Please try the following:

> Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
> Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

I need to download Adobe Acrobat Standard X

Hi all,
I have recently had to re-install windows on my laptop.
My laptop came with Adobe Acrobat Standard X pre-installed. I have the card with the serial number on it that came with the laptop.
I now need to download Adobe Acrobat Standard X onto this laptop.
I don't have a previous adobe account, and also don't have a download history for this product, since it came pre-installed.
How can I download Adobe Acrobat Standard X?
Any help greatly appreciated.

I got my answer from the live chat feature from Adobe.
I was pointed to this page where I could download the correct previous version of either Acrobat Standard X, Acrobat Pro X, Acrobat Standard XI or Acrobat Pro XI.

I just purchased a VLA license for Adobe Acrobat 11 Standard. It does not come with media and it looks like I cannot download a copy from Adobe.com.

Until recently, forum regulars understood that people could download the Pro installer, enter a Standard serial number and get the Standard version licensed. Seems unfair that Acrobat Standard X and earlier customers are left out in the cold simply because they chose to purchase a disk. Surely an installer can be made available for them to download .- same as for Acrobat Pro customers - since this question arises regularly

If you upgraded and were using a version of Acrobat Reader that was legacy, that is PPC compatible, then you will have to upgrade to a version compatible with Lion as Lion no longer has Rosetta to interface with the legacy software.

I'm using a 30-day trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC to scan documents and in certain situations, append to existing PDFs.
I'd prefer to trial the Adobe Acrobat Standard vs. Pro DC because that's what I intend to purchase. I'd prefer to not get accustomed to Pro if Standard is very different.
1. After selecting Edit > Preferences and specifying certain defaults, most take effect as suspected but some do not, like the one's I'm going to elaborate on below. Why?
2. Alternatively, is there a Tool or a way to create a local customized Profile and default to that Profile to avoid having to repeat the following steps?
   This should not be confused with the online Profile (or Communities Profile) whereby one states one's Name etc.

5. Once the product is purchased, what are my support options? Can questions be answered or issues resolved with a phone call or are they limited to the Acrobat Forum(s) and/or Adobe Communities? Even after clicking "Ready to contact us? Start here." I'm only given the Forum option (over and over) vs. Chat vs. Email Support etc.

Open PDF files in IE by Acrobat Standard 8 instead of Reader

I have an issue when I open PDF files in Internet Explorer.
On my computer, Acrobat Reader 7 and Acrobat Standard 8 are installed.
I want that Acrobat Standard 8 opens my PDF files instead of Acrobat Reader 7.
There is 2 conditions : I can't (I mustn't) uninstall Acrobat Reader 7 !
How can I fix it?

What I want to do is with Acrobat, not Reader.
In fact, I want to open PDF files with Acrobat in Internet Explorer 6 (now, I can do it) then modify directly any (unprotected) PDF files within IE.

The Find function (Ctrl+F), mis-finds the desired simple text in Acrobat Standard, but works fine in Reader

The Find function (Ctrl+F), mis-finds the desired simple text.
This is not a scanned document. When I search for some word that DOES exist in the document, Acrobat will highlight text that does not match at all and which does NOT contain the word. If I select the actual word, copy and past the text, I get the selected text accurately, but when I paste the same selected text into the Find box to search for it, Acrobat still mis-finds.
HOWEVER, I can open the very same .PDF file in Acrobat Reader X and do not have the same problem - Find works correctly in Reader with the same .PDF.
What is going on?! Both Acrobat standard, and Reader report that they are up to date. Please help.

Can you try rasterizing (converting the document to tiff/bmp) and then importing those image files (tiff/bmp) back in Acrobat.
This would allow document to be re-OCRed and you will be able to search text in it. You can use lossless export/import settings to preserve the quality of ducment.
For exporting the file:
1: Go to File > Save As Other > Image > Tiff.
2: Click on Settings button in the Save As Dialog and set the file settings as ZIP for Monochrome, Grayscale and Color.
Now for importing the files back:
1: Press Ctrl + K
2: In the Preferences dialog, select Convert To PDF option in Categories.
3: Choose tiff or bmp (as per the format used while exporting) and un-check Scan Optimization and OCR.
4: Set Color and Grayscale to Zip and Monochrome to CCITT G4.
5: Save the settings.
6: Now import all the pages in Acrobat.
7: You can use Combine Files feature to merge all the image files.
