Reader x Won't Install

Running Windows 7 64-bit and Reader won't install. Get the following:
Next I get:
which seems to suggest Reader has been installed but in fact in hasn't.
Next I tried downloading without the download manager from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ but get the same error. I am the administrator w/ rights and no other user is logged on.
Any help would be appreciated.

But from that screenshot you posted at the bottom, it appears as if you are still using the download manager.
Try downloading the installer to disk, then close all browser windows and run the installer. Do you still get the same error?
Another thing to try is to download and run the MSI installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.0.0/en_US/AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi and see if this still produces the same error.

feedback about the failure. Almost no information is given with the feedback. This strikes me
as amateurish software development & maintenance.

You need to install all previous updates before you can install this one. If you have done so and it still won't install. Then uninstall Reader. Run the Microsoft installer cleanup tool, then try to re-install all from scratch.

Adobe Reader 9 Won't Install Mac OS X Intel

I've uninstalled. I reinstalled. I tried to install from a disc burned from another computer. I've downloaded it via different browsers. Every time I get an error message "Adode Reader could not install correctly. Adode Reader was unable to install and must quit."
I'm at a loss.

First thing to try is to install as a different administrative user. If
that fails, then try to fix permissions. If you have it, try running
Applejack and let it clear your cache's. If that doesn't work, I'd try
to install as root. If that fails, I would recommend an archive and
install of the OS.

which version of OS X is installed on your Mac, and which version of Adobe Reader do you have installed? Did you ensure that all of your browsers were not running when you’d installed Adobe Reader?
To use Preview to open PDFs, download the PDFs to your Mac, and then use Preview to open the PDFs locally. Since you can open PDFs in Firefox, it sounds like you don’t need the Preview workaround.

Hi Pat,
After your last email I decided to continue to trouble shoot the problem and finally found the answer from another user. Oddly enough when using Firefox it will default to a location on your computer to save downloads. If it encounters a problem it doesn't identify it, the program just "loops" back to the start of the download sequence. Once I changed the folder that the downloads are sent to the original way of upgrading occurred without fault.
I will go back into the discussion group and credit you with the answer because I really appreciate your assistance.

I don't mean to step on any toes here but it seems that the root of the problem is being ignored. I offered before that the problems you are experiencing are due to inconsistencies in the Windows registry. While I could speculate on the various methods of how this came to be, I don't have that kind of time nor is there a need. More than likely it is some type of malware that has infected the system but that should be explored on more suited forums such as MajorGeeks.com or BleepingComputer.com. The way I see it, you have a few paths you can take, all of which will lead you to the same place: no more error 1606 and a functional Reader:
Option 1: Run the Windows Live OneCare free safety scanner to resolve any broken registry links it can find.
Option 2: Manually fix the "broken" registry entries in the Windows registry. While I understand Pat's hesitation to do so, the truth of the matter is it will resolve the immediate issue. Once the APPDATA path is corrected, you should then be able to install Reader.
Option 3: Restore Windows to a previous date using System Restore located in Help & Support of the Start menu.
Option 4: [SLEDGE HAMMER] Reinstall Windows over the top of the current installation (NO FORMAT). Use this option only if you have no other recourse. The potential to lose all personal data and settings is high if this option is not performed correctly. If this option is chosen, be certain to use a "setup" profile (username) different than your current username. If you only have a manufacturer's system restore disk rather than a Windows CD/DVD, you may not have the option NOT to format which WILL result in the loss of personal data. This option should only be performed by someone who has previous knowledge of such or is willing to learn even at the expense of data loss/time/effort.
I HIGHLY recommend that any and all personal data is backed up to an external location such as a USB key, CD/DVD, or external hard drive prior to performing option 2 or 4 above. If you would like any of the options explained in greater detail, feel free to ask and I will oblige.

We wil lat least need a tiny bit of info about your system - operating system, possibly hardware specs, definitely info about security tools and otehr Adobe software...

Reader won't install; not enough memory

Reader won't install because I have 128 MB of memory and Reader requires 256MB. Original hard drive died and had to be replaced, but was replaced with original discs. I used Reader for years with original discs. Is there a way to install it? Windows XP SP2. Please help!

Windows Vista won't install Ipod

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, unfortunately Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Iteune three times and searched the Windows Vista disk, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

For some reason my Mac book pro won't install OS through the install cd or through the flash drives. It will load the disk but then freeze when I click install. It won't load through the USB either. I have done multiple diagnostics at the mac store and they tell me that my hd is bad. Twice the hd was fresh out of the box and installed that day. I spoke to a supervisor via phone when I called apple care and he told me that unless I have all apple parts in the computer they can't accurately diagnose the issue. It feels like they're trying to con me into paying double for a "apple hd". What can I do to get my computer working?

I would purchase an external USB enclosure for the HDD. With the HDD in the enclosure, install OSX and then mount in your MacBook. If you continue to have problems, it could be a faulty internal SATA cable.

Creative Cloud Desktop app won't install error 207; Adobe server?

Is there a problem with some of Adobe.com servers? My employer just purchased a CC subscription for my work Mac, and the CC Desktop App won't install. I've restarted my Mac, quit all Adobe products, redownloaded the DMG file (creativecloudinstaller.dmg), and checked to make sure my firewall is off. But I still get an error message #207. My DNS servers are set to the same ones that other Macs in my group are set to, and they have CC on their Macs.
I don't know if it's related, but I can't load "adobe.com" in my browser, either. All other webpages are fine, including (obviously) this forum.
I am using OS 10.8.5, connected via Ethernet, and my browser is Chrome.

The company had revised their servers not long ago, and evidently did not transfer their old whitelists (which is why my coworkers had previously been able to access Creative Cloud). I am trying to install Mavericks on my McbookAir, but it won't install, saying that my hd is used for time machine backups. I have an external HD connected to my mbAir that I'm using for time machine.

Mavericks won't install on my Air's HD, says that both the HD - AND - the external HD (which has a different name from the laptop HD) are used for time machine backups. I've deleted my time machine plists, restarted, repaired permissions, turned time machine off, repeatedly selected the external drive in time machine preferences. HELP. I need to add that the only place I have the "Backups.backupdb" folder is on my backup external disk, and it's not on my HD :-( . If it were, I'd delete it!

Application (WMF 3.0) won't install during maintenance window, but will install when there is no maintenance window

I'm just getting into the Application model in SCCM 2012 R2 and I like what I see so far, but i'm running into an issue. When i set up an Application for WMF 3.0 with a prerequisite of .Net 4.0 and deploy it to a set of test systems that do not have
any maintenance windows applied to it, it works great. If it doesn't have .Net 4.0 it installs both that and WMF 3.0 and reboots. If it already has .Net 4.0, it will skip that and just install WMF 3.0 and reboot.
However, if i deploy it to systems that have a maintenance window applied, the application recognizes that it needs .Net and WMF 3.0 or just WMF 3.0, but it never actually runs.
Here is the applicable entry from the appintenteval.log, and i've bolded the line where it shows that WMF 3.0 is not installed

I've done a little more experimenting. I've changed my maintenance window back to 30 minutes. Prior to the MW opening, i'll run an application evaluation deployment cycle on the system. It will show the system as required WMF 3.0 but since
the MW isn't open, it won't install at the time.
When the MW opens, i'll watch the ServiceWindowManager.log and it sees that it's a 30 minute MW and that the run time is 15 minutes but it still says the program can't run:

This is not the behavior i would expect. I would think that if the client knows it has a pending application deployment that is required, when the MW opened up, it would start the install immediately or close to the beginning of the MW. It shouldn't
need to have an application evaluation deployment cycle kicked off during the MW.
