Reader XI - I can't print a pdf file.

I'm getting an error message LXAIGF.DLL not found, error 126. Tried to repair program and then removed and downloaded XI again and rebooted. Same error message. Lexmark printer is connected. Windows XP OS.

Well, you can install Adobe Reader XI - not the version for Windows 8 tablets, but the one for regular PCs. This is just the same in Windows 8 as other systems, and can print. The tablet reader, which also runs on PCs, can't print.

Save the file to your hard drive, open it in Adobe Reader and print. Unless the file has security restrictions against printing, those steps should work.

I get an adobe error message that it can not print with an ok to check and when i do I get another adobe error message that says I did not select a page to print. I have downloaded the latest adobe download. I forwarded the email to my husband and he printed the document just fine.

This first question which comes to mind is how do you display the pdf file in the browser?
For this the browser uses a plug in (e.g. adobe reader) which already has the ability to print the pdf file. Depending on the version of your plug in, printing is started differently.

ZIP files can be handled in many different ways. If you have a program like WinZip or 7-Zip installed, they will handle it.
If not, Windows will handle it. The message you quote indicates that your situation is handled by Windows, which seems to have a problem with it. Could be caused by recent Windows updates.
Definitely not an Adobe Reader problem.

i just downloaded adobe reader and cannot print a pdf file.

Same or related issue.
After installing latest updates of Mac Mavericks and Adobe Reader, I can't open pdfs downloaded from the web or print pdfs from the web. Using "export" doesn't help. Same with the print/pdf workaround.
I uninstalled/reinstalled Reader. I indicated Adobe Reader as my default opener for pdf-type files. No help.
I'm using Safari.

Is there an issue with printing/saving pdf files in Snow Leopard? Do I have to buy Adobe Acrobat 9.1 Pro to do this? I can view the pdf in Safari but not print or save and in Firefox, I can't even see the pdf. I've had SL a short time and it's only recently that this started happening. It was working fine at first.

You don't need an Adobe plug-in to view PDFs in Safari, that functionality is built in. I'm guessing that your Adobe Reader plugin (or some other PDF-related plug-in) is incompatible with ML. Try disabling it. First, open Safari's preferences window and look at the Extensions pane. Is there anything PDF-related there? If so, disable it. Next, look in the following folders:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins/
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins/
(Yes, those are the same except for the tilde. The first one is at the root level of your hard drive, the second is in your user folder. That one is invisible, so hold down the option key and choose Library from the Finder's Go menu to go there.)
If you see anything related to Adobe PDF Viewer or Reader, remove it and restart Safari.

Can you try the following things
1. Open Reader XI from the Reader dektop icon or through the programs menu. Open Edit > Preferences > General > 'Select Defualt PDF Handler' > select Reader XI and then click Apply.
If step 1 does not fix the problem then try repairing the application using the following steps.
Repair Adobe Reader XI from Control Panel > Programs and Features > Select Adobe Reader XI and click on Change and then select Repair

After my old computer crashed, I have installed and activated Acrobat 8 Standard on a new computer. On the old machine, I had been routinely printing to PDF files. Now, when trying to print something to a PDF file, the print progress bar stops about two-thirds of the way across, and the progress description says, "Stopped." I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat and repaired it, and I've deleted Reader from the computer and rebooted. I'm running Vista Home on an HP Pavilion.

After you remove Reader, you will need to do a repair again most likely. You did not indicate the version of AA8 you are using and if the OS is a 64-bit system. In any case, be sure you update AA8 to the latest version -- 8.3.1.
