Reading old PDD files

I'm trying to help an elderly friend. She has some pdd files from the days when Photoshop would only allow work files to be saved in .pdd format. Can anyone give me any guidance as to what modern software may be able to read them, or is there anything that will convert them into a more modern format to permit editing? The computer and (unknown) version of Photoshop used has long gone but she still has the files on disc.
TIA

pdd is photoshop deluxe.
maybe this site will help you .pdd Extension - List of programs that can open .pdd files

  • Reading PhotoDeluxe PDD Files

Will Elements read/open PDD format files created 12 years ago in PhotoDeluxe 3.0?

The organizer should display the files (.pdd is a version of the .psd file format)
(i have photo deluxe on old computer, so that's why the date is today)

  • Photoshop Elements 12 and old pdd files

Does Photoshop Elements 12 convert pdd files to jpeg???  I have a whole CD full of old family photos that were scanned in .pdd format and now I can't open them.  Will upgrading from Elements 2.0 to 12 solve my problem?

Photoshop elements 12 should open the photodeluxe files.
Below are two .pdd files saved from photodeluxe 1 on my mac OS 7.6.1
Opened in pse 12 on windows 7
Probably the reason your photoshop elements 2 won't work on windows 8 is the hard drive is bigger than 1 TB and pse 2 can't read hard drives (free space)
    over 1 TB.

  • Can't read old ddf-file

I have some old ddf-files of 10 years ago and I can't open them.
When I open an old .ddf I can see Ultiboard is starting and making a screen and then .....   the computer hangs.
The old .sch from Ulticap I can read by opening the .sch and save it as .utsch.
In Ultiboard there is no such a possibility because the files still end with .ddf.
    Can I convert this .ddd-files?
    Ptr

    Hello PtrZet,
Which new versions of Multisim and Ultiboard are you using now?
Regarding Ultiboard you should be able to open .ddf files coming from versions Ultiboard 4 & 5.
    Which version were you using?
Older files that are coming from earlier versions should first be opened in Ultiboard 5 and saved in one of the supported formats.

  • Iphoto can't read old library files after backup

    Hi there,
after a HD-Crash, a new HD, a new System and iLife5 I thought putting back the backuped iphoto library in the new iphoto 5 library should work. It doesn’t.
Any other usual image editing program is able to open the .jpg Files (which I extracted manually from the old library folder because I didn’t know anything about an extractor) but iphoto says that the files “may be an unrecognized file type or they may not contain valid data“.
    I’m talking about 8000 Pictures!
I tried to put them in manually by dragging some of them.
I tried to import them via the menu
I erased the preferences (that spotlight could find and some I remembered)
And I thought about the REV Drive I used for Backup.
    I heared about permission issues...
    Any Help out there?
    You’ll get a nice Pict!
    Thanks

    OK, Problem solved.
Today I decided to move the Backuped Folders to some other place.
And than I decided to try again to import them by dragging (again) single jpegs into the (virtual) Library in the iphoto Window.
It worked. I was surprized because that was nothing that I haven’t try before.
    BUT:
The Problem was that I did all the steps above by still having the Folders (I tried to import) in the new Library Folder.
    SO:
It is right what all the other users say: DON’T DO ANYTHING MANUALY WITH THE IPHOTO LIBRARY FOLDER. NOTHING!

  • Firefox still read old library file (.js) even if it updated

    Hi support team,
Sometime when i used Firefox to test my site as local host browser.
Firefox did not update my library file even if I saved the document. For the example, when I changed jquery file.js and then I saved it. And after that, I executed the HTML page again, Firefox still read my old code of Jquery. I dont know why but this problem happened many times. I also tested my site in other browsers such as IE and Chrome. And they worked fine, so I assumed that this may be a bug of the firefox. Please be noted that My firefox version is 22.0.
My work around solution is I need to created the new file which may have different and or different location. and then let import the file from the new source instead.
Please kindly let me know, if you have the solution for this case.
    Best Regards,
    Pornpoj H.

Firefox sometimes is a little too aggressive in reusing cached files. You can bypass those by reloading with Ctrl+Shift+r. Does that help with jQuery?

  • I can no more read old iWork files since I installed the new iWork

  • Lion - unable to read old leopard files on windows server

    Hi,
We had a mac which was on Leopard and saved files to the server
The file system we use is a Windows 2008 File Server, this has worked fine with leopard for years
However I understand that Leopard splits the files into resource forks - and that Lion has dropped support for these files.
That particular mac is now on Lion as we upgraded and encountering LOTS of issues
I unable to open or edit lots of the files as i believe chunks of the files are missing.
E.g an .eps file showed as 740KB on leopard - Viewing from a windows PC it was 730kb for the .eps and 10kb for the ._ resource fork.
Now that we are on the LION upgrade, we only see the .eps file and it is only 730kb. Information missing is things such as preview (quark), Font data, type of file, version number
Is there anyways to fix this? we have hundreds! of images, files etc created with leopard and now upgraded to lion they all have become useless!
Rejoining the resource forks and files together so that they are usable on lion
    Thanks

You installed the Developer Tools and ran the command line utility fixupresourceforks?
I would think that would work.  Can maybe try this as well:
Check to see if the file is already created and if not create it using the first line using touch. If file is already there just run the other two lines following the touch command line:
    sudo touch /etc/nsmb.conf
    sudo echo "[default]" > /etc/nsmb.conf
    sudo echo "streams=no" >> /etc/nsmb.conf
If you have slow browsing and issues create or renaming folders add:
    sudo echo "notify_off=yes" >> /etc/nsmb.conf
Then re-connect to server shares or reboot and connect to shares again.

  • Read old cds udf format

For Blu Ray presume must BUY!! some media player App.
But any suggestions for quick solution to read old Word and Access files?
    singrres

Ok, I see now.. I think I am understanding things more. The cd you have was not actually an archived disc, but a disc used as a multi-write disc (ie it was used like a floppy disc where contents could be copied to it and edited at-will without finalizing the session). Also termed as Incremental Packet Writing.  Unfortunatly the way that worked was the file system was managed by the burn software. That table of contents is now long gone (or if you recently created it, on what ever old computer you brought it from).
If you lack access to the PC it was currently being used in, salvaging any data from the disc could be done with a RAW dump of the cd and the appropriate tools and time, none of which I am familure with.

  • I recently purchased a Mac 0S X 10.6.6 which was an upgrade from the Mac OS 1.4.1.1  I downloaded the adobe ph otoshop CS2 which I had on my old computer and now it cannot read my NEF files.  Which is a RAW file from my Nikon.  Can anyone help...please?

I recently purchased a Mac OS X 10.6.6 which was an upgrade from my Mac OS version 10.4.1.1  I downloaded the Adobe Photoshop CS2 which I had on my old computer and now it cannot read my NEF files which is a RAW file from my Nikon D200.  I did not have this problem on my old Mac.  I always shoot RAW and can't open any photos.  Can anyone help me PLEASE?!?

Do you have access to another Mac to see if the disk can be read by it?  If it can't then you're pretty sure it's the disk. If it can then there may be issues with your optical drive which might be cleared up by using a cleaning disk on it, one that uses dry brushes (no liquid).
If you have access to another Mac and it can read the iWork disk make a disk image of it so you can move the disk image to your iMac and install from the disk image.

  • New iMac (2015-Yosemite) won't read old Time Capsule files

My new iMac 2015 (OS X Yosemite 10.10.1) won't read (access) my old backup files on the Time Capsule.  The old machine ( iMac 2007) is still backing up to the Time Capsule and still reads all the 2 years of backup files.  New machine only allows access to the current backup since I turned on the new machine early-January.   The old machine ( in another room ) accesses the Time Capsule via my local house wi-fi .   There is no crossover between the backups.  Old machine reads all up to now ON the old machine; new machine reads only that which is backed up on the new one since start-up.  How do I get the new iMac to read the old files ?

  • How well does iWork 06 read old iWork 05 files?

I am thinking about buying iWork 06. How well does it read your old iWork files? Any problems?
    Thanks

There are some problems, although minor and solveable, and depending how you've been formatting your work in Pages 1.
Pages 2 will overwrite any leading or multiple mid-line spaces you may have used as a workaround - e.g., to produce a drop cap (or majuscule) in Pages 1. These have to be replaced with "non-breaking spaces," referred to in the onscreen help on "invisibles" - and listed with the keyboard shortcuts. The shortcut for the "non-breaking space" is Option / Space.
There are also slight variations in how Pages 2 treats pagination. This is particularly evident if you've used the "baseline adjustment" to produce "leading" i.e., to make adjacent columns or facing pages exactly the same depth. This can need small adjustment after importing, although there is little consistency about it. Some pages will vary; others not.
There is also a minor and infrequent bug in Pages 2's justification, which I have reported to Apple. Just once in a while, it will leave a space inside the right hand margin, instead of justifying all the way to it. With "invisibles" on it is easy to see if this has happened or you just have a double space.
In short there may be some reworking to do in some documents.
However it is not the case that importing from Pages 1 to Pages 2 is irretrievable. You can (1) slightly rename your document when saving in Pages 2 - so that the Pages 1 document is not overwritten, or (2) save a Pages 2 document as a Pages 1 document - in which case any new features of Pages 2 that have been used will be lost; but the rest of the document survive.
I would recommend using method (1) above until you are completely satisfied that your documents are successfully migrated; and only then consider removing Pages 1 from your system.
    Regards.

  • How do I convert pdd files to jpeg?

I don't know if I'm posting this correctly, but here's my question...
Years ago I scanned old family photos using Adobe Photoshop and saved them as pdd files.  Now I don't have the software to open them.  I've read online that I may have success if I download software called ImageConverter Plus.  Should I go that route or will today's Adobe Photoshop software convert them?  I currently do not own any of the Adobe products.

Have you tried opening them with Photoshop?  PDD is still there in the Photoshop file type options.  if you have tried and it failed, it might be that they are corrupted.   There are several free PSD file resuce apps online, and they might work.

  • How do I open PDD file?

what adobe product do I need to convert old photos on my hard drive from PDD?

    Hi there
Below is a list of programs for both Mac and PC that can open PDD files (source).
As you can see, there are several Adobe products that can read PDD formats, but I would recommend using Photohop or Photoshop Elements since .pdd files are a version of .psd files (which is the standard Photoshop file format).
    Cheers!
