Rebuild seems to have moved sent attachments to the Trash!
I just rebuilt my mailboxes in OSX 10.4.3. I happened to look in my trash afterwards, and all these files have magically appeared. They are files that I had attached to outgoing mails. Correspondingly, my Mail Downloads folder is much emptier than it used to be. What's going on? I dragged all the attached files out of the trash into a folder on the Desktop until I figure out what to do.

Oh, and when I go into Mail and find some of the mails with the attachments that got put into the Trash, if I open the attachment it reappears in the Mail Downloads folder. Weird.

Time Machine told me the back up disk was full. So I selected older folders (from 2011) and moved them to the Trash. Now every time I try to delete them, I get the error 8003. It wont allow me to move them back to TM. They disappear when I unmount the TM disk, only to reappear when its remounted.
I have tried using the option key, secure empty trash etc. and the same error appears...
I realize I have done a bad thing - but I deleted files this way previously and didnt have a problem

thanksOkay. I have read a lot about this & still am a little unsure about what this solution actually does.
Like some others, I have simply added a folder (NOT A PARTITION) in my external HDD for the backups.
I noticed I was low on space one day & dragged a load of old backups to the trash.
Nothing in the time machine blurb inferred I should do it any other way & OS X is usually pretty intuitive.
Will this solution get rid of just the trashed files or will it destroy everything on the whole HDD? -
I recently downloaded / installed FCP X into the same folder as a previous version of FCP before reading to NOT do that. I've trashed the older version of FCP, but now what? Has there been damage done? Should I trash FCP X and reinstall it?

Hmm. I din't have experience of the trial version - maybe it doesn't move legacy FCP.
Make a new folder (Final Cut Studio) in the Applications folder, and drag FCP there.
I have also found that the sound effects in FCP X keep disappearing and I need to re start FCP X for them to appear again. This has happened several times today.
This could be a case of a conflict with Final Cut Pro. What do you think?
I doubt it, but FCP X is a fickle application.
If moving FCP doesn't fix it, post a new topic to ask about this.

What browser are you using?
The blog post contains significant information related to Premiere Elements 12 Motion Tracking. But, if you cannot access it for some reason, then we will need to troubleshoot via communications in the thread.
SG has asked if you are able to create Motion Tracking effect using one of the graphics included with the program. We will watch for your response to him on that question. Please include in your message to him whether you can obtain your file to track the object using Organizer Tab or Project Assets routes as well as Graphics Tab.

Various tutorials and online comments have pointed to places other than Graphics Tab where objects can be selected and used to track the moving object in the video when the Motion Tracking workspace is opened in the Expert or Quick workspace.
Organizer Tab, Expert or Quick workspace to access Elements Organizer 12. Cascade Windows and drag a video or photo from Elements Organizer into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Project Assets, Expert workspace. Drag text, video, or photos from opened Project Assets into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Graphics Tab, Expert or Quick workspace. Create a png file (graphic) or prtl file (text) and place it in Clip Arts in the Program Files of the program to have a permanent resource. Then from Graphics Tab, drag the newly created graphic or text object into yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.

What is the default key command for THE COMMAND (apple) key? I seem to have changed it somehow along the way and now when I push the command key (only) it hides all open windows and shows the desk top and when I push it again it shows all windows again...I need to return to default A.S.A.P. just this one key...Any ideas? Click on the 'Keyboard' tab and hit the 'modifier keys...' button. You can see and change the defaults there.

Wondering if you might know? I don't have enough space to update the new software on iPad. So my facetime isn't working anymore, this is prob why. Seems I have to delete like all the games/apps we have to do so. Will I lose the progress data/levels in the games? But how do I back up the games data?
Please help. Scared to delete them to update and then not have the space to restore them and if I get them again will the levels/progress be gone?
Thanks RachelConnect your device to iTunes and do the update through iTunes. Using a computer takes much less space on your device than doing the update on your device.

I'd suggest being more specific. What do you mean by "it seems to have thrown windows out of the system?" The Windows virtual machines should still be in the Virtual Machines folder in your documents folder. Are they there? What version of Fusion have you updated from and to?

I have dragged 2 files to the trash bin but I cannot delete them from the trash bin. It keeps telling me these files are in use when they are not. How do I delete these files? One is a txt file and the other is an xls file
From the Finder menu select 'Secure Empty Trash'. If this or the suggestion above doesn't resolve the problem take a look at the various suggestions in this link:

I inadvertently created a very large file on my hard drive. Not needing it I sent it to the Trash Can. However, the deletion process never completes. Any suggestions as to how to delete it ? I re-installed the OS but the file was still there taking up needed space.
Command-click all of the files you want to delete and don't actually move them to the Trash until you've gone through the entire folder.

ITunes Seem to Have Suddenly Stopped Communicating With the CD/DVD Burner
Hello, I wonder if anybody can help - my itunes application seems to have suddenly stopped communicating with my laptop's cd/dvd burner
(Generic Name (E: H - T-S D D A S - 20N ATA Device)).
About 2 years ago, I have experienced a similar problem, but was able to resolve it by downloading 64-bit compatible GEAR drivers to my system. However, the problem has re-appeared when I have updated to iTunes Version 10.1. Funny enough, the cd/dvd burner started getting recognized again when I updated to iTunes Version 10.2, but halfway through me burning a large playlist to multiple cds has suddenly stopped recognizing the cd/dvd burner again, and has never "resolved itself" ever since.
I have tried multiple approaches to solving this issue, including completely re-installing itunes software and completely re-installing GEAR drivers, but nothing works. I have even tried uninstalling GEAR drivers completely, as I read that it worked for someone on one of the similar forums, but that didn't work either.
My itunes diagnostics runs all the points of the cd/dvd drive check successfully, except for the last point (Can Not Read Audio CD). Here's what the diagnostics summary looks like:

I have noticed that the diagnostics summary containes a suggestion to update firmware of my laptop's cd/dvd drive, but currently there are no such firmware updates available.
Another frustrating issue that I ran into was trying to convey this issue to Apple Technical Support via e-mail using the Express Lane for the troubleshooting issues. I really fail to understand why I am being asked for the "hardware serial number" when I'm clearly choosing the categories for "iTunes/CD-DVD Import Issues" which are software, not hardware, categories! This prevents me from being able to simply send the description of my problem to the correct Apple Support department, and does not let me do that even when I enter my itunes' Serial Number, which can be found in the diagnostics summary provided above.

(It's possible that a permission may have gone astray in your usual user account, which might be causing the burning issues.) -
I just purchased Adobe Acrobat because it was recommended to password protect files.
However, when I checked out the Tools > Protection > Encrypt> "Encrypt with Password" is greyed out.
Can a file be password protected using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard?
