  • I can no longer receive mail using the mail app? I have to go online instead - why?

    Hej some one,
I can no longer receive mail using the mail app? I have to go online instead - why & what can I do?

Check your smtp preferences in mail.app.
See if mail.app's Connection Doctor has any useful info.  Does it's status indicate all is ok?  When you use it's Show Detail are there any (useful) error messages?

  • Can receive mail using comcast but not using mail on ipad

I can receive and send mail using my comcast app but can only receive mail using the mail app but not send.

Been there and done that with the Comcast email account on my iPad. Specifically ...
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Receiving Mail - Using attachement and adapter attributes

    Hi all,
I'm trying to solve the following problem:
    - I receive a file via mail adapter as attachment
    - The content of the file is plain text, no csv or XML
    - For mapping, I need a) the content of the file b) metadata like sender of the mail, date/time of mail etc.
I tried to use mail package and PayloadSwapBean. Now I have the situation, that not everytime the <content>-Tag contains the content of the attachement:
-If the message text of the mail is empty, <content>-Tag contains the content of the attachment (perfect!)
-If the message text of the mail is empty, mapping throws exception. I suppose, that pure attachement (not in the mail package format) is input for mapping
If I try to use adapter-specific attributes, Mail adapter throws error (so message does not reach integration engine). I already updated the mail adapter metadata in the IR (cf. SAP note 936552), as we are on SP16. It seems as if still some tags can not be deserialised by the SOAP-Entry of the integration engine.
Has someone an idea how to solve the situation?
    Kind regards,
    Torsten

Well, the problem seems to be with the IMAP server
    (not postfix).
I simply don't have an INBOX file were my IMAP server
    seems to deliver the e-mail.
This seems to be part of our problem communicating. An IMAP server doesn't deliver email. It's what your mailreader contacts to view or deliver mail. You must be using OSX Server, I don't think there's an IMAP server for OSX.
When mail arrives at your Mac, two basic things happen. We lump them under the label postfix. The first thing is that the SMTP server accepts the mail. The second is that the local process "delivers" the mail. This can be difficult to set up, but the main thing is to put the local delivery path in the alias map file you set in /etc/postfix/main.cf. This is /etc/aliases by default.
To read mail, your mailreader can simply open the mailbox where the file was delivered. /usr/bin/mail will work fine. Fancier mailreaders like Apple Mail use protocols like POP3 and IMAP4 to retrieve mail from remote servers. But this case is different. IMAP seems like overkill since everything is local. I would try putting the alias to the directory that Mail uses. But then, you never said what your mailreader was, so I don't know.
I think we can solve this, but we need to get over some confusion first.

  • Receiving mail using postfix ... does not appear at my user accounts

    Hi all,
I've turned on postfix and imap access at my home computer (I'm running Tiger, not Mac OSX Server).
Everything seems to be working fine (sending mail trough SMTP and logging in to my home by IMAP), except that I cannot see the mails sent to my user account(s).
I know that the e-mails get at my set up mail server at home since I can see that in the logs, but no mail appears at my user accounts.
For instance, have have an user account [email protected] and I can loggin trough IMAP at this email account and the emails I send from my gmail account reach jon.myserver.com ... but I cannot read those mails anywhere since they don't appear.
Can anybody help me and tell me what am I missing?
    Cheers,

  • BPEL 10.1.3.3 - Receiving Mail using MailService.wsdl not working

    Hello Gurus,
We are having both 10.1.2 BPEL server and 10.1.3.3.
In 10.1.2 I could successfully use the mail read method as specified in Sample 117.ReceiveEmails. But when I do the same in 10.1.3.3 I am getting "java.lang.NullPointerException" (while it reads the mail from mail server).
The Surprise is the solution works fine in 10.1.2 but not in 10.1.3.3
(Note: even I couldn't find 117.ReceiveEmails sample in 10.1.3.3 samples directory).
The observation of mine is suppose If I didn't send any mail to the mail account, the service keep polling (based on specified polling interval). but once I send mail to the mail account, the process read the mail from mail server and ends with NullPointerException error. And as expected the mail gets deleted from mail server.
    Please help me.

  • Receiving Mail using a .mac email account.

My .mac mailbox can no longer receive mail, it is received by the icloud box. In Icloud I have the imac, icloud and me accounts with the mac address greyed out, Since .me is no longer  how do I remove this address. In the apple Mail account box, my mac box has a tilde mark. When trying to get my mail, I constantly get a window popping up that ask for my password to use my .mac address box. what is going on? Am I the only one with this problem? am I going to have to change my address from .mac to .icloud?
    oldgranddad

    Michael,
I think, but have not confirmed, that you would only see this Edit Email Aliases button when the Account Type is .mac in the preferences, and thus only if using Mail 2.0.
I have not reconstructed when Mail 2.0 recognized my one .mac alias. Formerly, in Mail 1.3, I "piggybacked" the alias on one of my POP accounts, to allow sending.
More info, please, including your reasons for setting the account up as IMAP versus .mac -- this was once recommended as a way to send from alias addresses as well, but no longer needed for that purpose.

  • Cannot receive mail using leopard

Recently my parents mac mini which is runing Leopard stopped receiving mail addressed to there @mac.com account. I have tried deleting the account then adding it back again to no avail.  I can log into their iCloud account no ptoblem using same credentials.  I do get a reoccuring pop up telling me that the address is not correct, but I can use the password for icloud, an i did check that the password I use for their icloud account i sthe same I use to try to set up their mail account.

Hi Scott, yes, everything has changed.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT - DO NOT TRY TO ALTER YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 587
    • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

  • Verizon yahoo mail - use POP3 to download Sent Items?

    Hi,
I am using Verizon Yahoo Mail. I'd like to setup a POP3 account in Microsoft Outlook 2010 to download all of my messages onto my hard drive. I managed to get to the point where I am able to retrieve all of the messages in my Inbox, but if possible, I would also like to retrieve the messages that are in my Sent Items folder as well. Can anyone tell me how I can do this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

Verizon Yahoo utilizes the Yahoo front end for webmail, etc. Usually the problem that generates these errors codes is temporary and will resolve itself if you logout and log back in or simply try again in a couple of hours. If the problem happens everytime it will need to be investigated further.

  • Not receiving Mail using "Mail Contents of this page" from Safari 4

I am having a similar problem with Mail with Safari. When I select "Mail Contents of this page" from the Safari 4 menu, it opens mail properly and will send. But email is never received. If I check the sent folder it is there. I have tested this sending to myself and family in same house and will not show up. I have noticed that sometimes it will not even show up in sent folder. I have tested on the same webpage the "Mail Link of this page: and this appears to work.

    Niel,
    thanks. I am feeling enlightened.
    1) Imagine I am using my .Mac mail address and some ISP such as ATT. ATT has provided me with an email address, but I do not use it. I am using my .mac.com address. In this case, the amount of mail I can send is restricted by ATT email regulations?
    2) And those people who may want to send a massive amount of emails may use a company like MailChimp in order to circumvent rules imposed by the email provider?
