Recent Windows 7 Update has killed windows

Help, I run Windows 7 in Bootcamp, recent windows 7 update has killed windows, this is what happens.
Choose to boot to windows - OK
Hit logon screen - OK
Logon - OK
Windows loads, the desktop shows for about 5 seconds and then the screen goes blank.
The computer is still ON but the screen is blank.
I can boot into safemode OK, but can't run the bootcamp update (that I downloaded from here) in safemode.
I tried a restore point, but the ones before the update create an error, so thats a no go.
My thoughts are that it is a video driver issue, but that doesn't explain how it gets passed logon working OK.
I don't know how to fix this if the only way to update drivers is via an .exe vs the driver files themselves like windows usually likes.

You could try this advice from the Windows side.
Startup Repair is a good place to start if your system starts acting up. If you can’t get the Advanced Boot Options screen by hitting F8, you can also access the tools by booting from a System Recovery Disc, or the Windows installation disc. While System Repair might not be able to recover your system in all situations, it’s a great starting point before getting into more detailed recoveries like Restoring from an image or clean install.

Where is Support for Windows Update Issues for Windows Server?
Windows Update keeps prompting to install an important update, KB2871690 and continually fails with error code 0x800f922
I ran all the fixes I can find, it still fails.
I also tried the manual install, fails.
Microsoft used to provide no charge support for Windows Update issues. They additionally offer online fixes  for other versions of windows, but not server, and I can't find a forum.
I also cannot ignore the update, it continually prompts.
I ran the windowsupdate.diagcab and it continually states it fixes Windows Update error 0x80070057, by resetting windows update data store. It further states it fixes Problems installing recent updates.
But it doesn't. I've run it 50 times, and it says the same thing every time.
So there is no support for windows update, and no support for windowsupdate.diagcab.
    What's the deal?

I've done the SFC/ SCANNOW and DISM

  • Disk Cleanup (Windows Update Cleanup) removes Windows updates

Disk Cleanup (Windows Update Cleanup) removes Windows updates KB3031432,KB3021952, and KB3004375. I have never had this problem before. I use Disk Cleanup after every monthly Microsoft updates. I had to reinstall listed updates on two computers when I checked
for new Windows updates. Why is this? Windows Update Cleanup section of Disk Cleanup should not remove updates. Can not completely cleanup my computers. Rodney

Cleanup does not removed any updates. Can you check windowsupdate.log file?

Recent iOS update has made my iPad 2 unusable. The screen locks up. It's very laggy and web pages do not load correctly.  Is there a fix for this or are they even working on a fix.

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost if you do not have backup)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

  • Where is the forum for Windows Update issues with Windows 10 TP 9926

Trying to find a fix to the Windows Update issue with Windows 10 TP 9926 build and can't find the correct forum to post this question?
This will impact receiving the new build upgrades and will impact test strategy for the new supported OS in our desktop application.

    Might try them over here.

If the system just Restarted on it's own, Shut down while you were working on something then started back up all those changes, edits, you had done in that app, document, are gone.

  • Windows Update Error 80080005 Windows 7 Client with WSUS 3.0 SP2 server

Hello everyone, I've looked around at other threads related to my issue, and I can't seem to find a correct answer.
I have a computer lab that I've recently installed a Windows 7 Enterprise image onto 35 Dell Optiplex computers (most are 380's, a few older 360's).
I created the image using MDT2010 and used one of the 380's as a reference.
All has been well for about a month or two but recently 6 computers are giving me Windows Update errors with the error code of 80080005.
I have a WSUS 3.0 SP2 server running, and all of my other computers seem to be getting their updates just fine.  WSUS has the problematic computers in it's database, but it shows that they haven't checked in for "x" days.
I have Avast 4.8 Professional installed, I have OpenDNS configured to block bad websites, ____, etc. and I also use an Untangle server to prevent access to bad websites.  I've ran a Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scan on the affected computers, as well
as Windows Defender scan, and Windows Live OneCare scans, and all have found no malicious software.
I have also tried resetting the Windows update service as described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 as well as a script that supposedly does the same thing, but also resets all previous
update events, but I can't find the script source right now (I had ran it last week, and it didn't work).
I'm currently running a SFC /Scannow on one of the computers, and now it has finished.  It gives the error: Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.  I'll have to google that next.
The last windows update that ran on the computer that I'm working on now was installed on 11-18-2010 and was a Windows Defender Update (KB915597 Def: 1.93.1985.0)
Previous to that was 11/9/2010 2 updates: KB977165 and KB981852.
I guess I'll have to look at all of the other machines to see if they have the same updates installed.
Anyway, has anyone else had this problem?  I've seen vista home editions, and RC's but no real Windows 7 Pro+ RTM versions in business environments where updates were controlled by WSUS.
Thanks for any help that you can provide!
By the way, I only work at this location once a week (tuesdays, well thursdays too, but I'm next door to this building, but I have remote access), so bare with me on trying to fix things.

Ok, for the sake of completeness, I have completed the instructions given by Miya Yao.
After stopping the Windows Update Service (from an Admin Command prompt window), renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder to SDold, then starting the update service again, I still receive the same error when checking for updates.
The windows update log shows this (starting from about 4am) and I just reset the service at about 9:10, which you can see in the log.

  • Unable to Resolve Windows Update Issue in Windows 8.1

    Hello,
I recently, as far back as 1 month ago, began experiencing issues with the update service under the Windows 8.1 OS platform.
I found that I was having to repeatedly run the Windows Update Troubleshooting Tool. This appeared to fix the issue with each run of the tool, but eventually I'd have the same problem receiving updates again. My problem is as follows:
    1. Windows Update service hangs during register analysis.
    2. Unable to reset (stop or restart) wuauserv.
    3. Unable to reset (stop or restart) Cryptserv.
    4. Unable to reset (stop or restart) BITS.
    5. Unit recently, was unable to connect to internet from Desktop GUI, but was able to connect using Metro GUI.
I'm not sure is there was a recent update that caused this issue, but I can no longer download updates for my system, nor can I successfully run the Windows Update Fixit tool.

    Hi,
    Let's confirm these situations:
Now your desktop Internet Explorer can't connect Internet.
You receiving the same updates again and again.
If I am right, please check that update's installation status from update history.
Then refer to this article to troubleshoot:

refer to Windows Update Agent and is a scan to find and down the updated version simply failing?

    Hi,
This structure is a general Windows Error report structure. There are different meanings for different types.
For the details, you could read this article:
    WerReportSetParameter function
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb513626(v=vs.85).aspx
For your specific error, we could get these:
P1: 7.6.7600.320 means Windows agent version.
P2: 80246002 means the exact error code
    P3: D67661EB-2423-451D-BF5D-13199E37DF28
should be the specific Windows Agent GUID.
    Let's verify it:
Look for this GUID in your Windows Update log file located in C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log. There you could verify if it's a Windows agent.

  • Preventing access to Windows Update website on Windows 7

We run a WSUS server locally and I want to prevent users from accessing the windows update web page via IE or via the "Check online for updates from Windows Update" link on the WU control panel. For our XP systems, there is a group policy setting under "User config/Admin templ/Start Menu/" called "Remove links and access to Windows Update". It worked perfectly on XP but in Vista and Win7, this policy also takes away the "Install Updates" button which prevents them from manually updating via the Windows Update control panel. Only way to install updates is to shutdown, which is somewhat annoying.
Is there any way to get this behavior back so that they can only update from the WSUS and can also install updates on demand instead of just at shutdown? I tried asking this in the Win7 client forum but they couldn't help me.
    Thank you.

  • Recent Apple update has given me a blank iCal, & won't allow to import data

    Hi,
I've done a recent Apple update and my iCal is basically stuffed. I can't import anything to it, it won't give me an opportunity to create new Calendars, it won't sync with my Mobile me (which is connected to my macbook, iPhone and iPod). The information is still there, as it is still coming up on my iPhone and macbook, but it won't allow me to enter any new information on either my macbook, iPhone or through Mobile Me without syncing it to the other hardware. I've tried everything. I have spoken to an Apple person, but they got so far and nothing was achieved. My case number is 133721150. Please help as my life is busy enough without this complication.
    Thanks,
    Soozjl

  • Recent iPod Updater has sabotaged my iPod!!

So I plug my iPod into my PC to put some songs on it, and I get a little window that says I need to download an update for my iPod. Ok, no problem. I download the file and install the Updater (to include restarting the PC afterwards). I run the updater and it begins doing some things to the iPod. The updater recognizes my iPod and even my name and the unit's serial number and all that.
Suddenly, there's an error message saying something about how the update failed or some such nonsense. When I try again, the Updater no longer recongizes my personal info and only gives me the option to RESTORE the iPod, not UPDATE. On top of that, my iPod will no longer start up properly even when disconnected from the PC.
I just get that dreaded Caution exclamation point atop a folder icon right after the Apple logo shows up. Then the unit turns off.
I can't believe that I am looking at possibly having to wipe my iPod because of a software issue from Apple themselves. It's a 60GB and it has a LOT of music that I don't want to have to find again. iTunes only has about half of the songs as I have changed PC's since I bought the iPod.
Also, I tried an older iPod Updater version, but that didn't work either.
    Any ideas?
      Windows XP Pro

Well, Tech Support mentioned iLounge software, but seeing even "My Computer" wants to reformat the device, they went on to say that my only option is to completely wipe the iPod.
So, in retrospect, I get a message to update, I do, and it screws everything up so much that I have to lose all the music on my iPod (which wouldn't be such a big deal hadn't the hard drive with the music on it recently crashed). The moral here has to be to NEVER UPDATE ANYTHING iPod or iTunes related.

So can someone please point me towards where I find the IP and port I should use to connect to my VMs with TightVNC directly?

I have not found a solution to this yet from my windows machine. I have since been using my Macbook to connect to VMs via the manager.
As you said I dont really want to revert back to an older version of Java due to security concerns.
Not sure who I can contact as I am currently only evaluating VM Server so do not have a support contract.
It was suggested by a colleague to edit the vm.cfg to allow vnc direct to each machine rather than through the manager. Oracle state they do not support manual modification of vm.cfg files so while possibly a workable solution might cause issues with the VM Manager or Oracle support down the track.
Note the first few lines of a vm.cfg which can be found on the VM Server /OVS/Repositories/0004fb......bfc70c/VirtualMachines/0004...197b99/
    vif = ['mac=00:d2:e2:00:00:0f,bridge=192.168.64.0']
    OVM_simple_name = 'OVM Manager'
    vnclisten = '127.0.0.1'
While an older 2.x vm.cfg file looks like this
    vfb = ['type=vnc,vncunused=1,vnclisten=0.0.0.0,vncpasswd=xxxxx']
Not ideal but might work if your desperate?
What would be nice is for Oracle to fix this issue.

  • IPhone 4 update has killed my MacBook!

After updating my software two days ago, the administrator account on my 13" Aluminum MacBook has not worked. It works for 5-10 seconds after login and then totally freezes and doesn't recognise any change in status such as the removal of the power source or the plugin of my iPhone. I am positive that it was the update that caused this problem, as I have not updated the software on the other user account on my laptop, and that works perfectly fine.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how can it be fixed?
I called Apple Support yesterday before I realised that my secondary account was still working, and we established that there was no problem with the hard drive, but we were unable to get into "safe mode". The only advice the tech could give me was to find my startup discs and take it to an Apple store and call back in.
Now that I have more information, and am able to actually use most of the computer, I'm starting to think there may be an easier solution?
    Thanks!

I don't suppose you have access to another Mac?
Safe Mode failing to work could be a sign of more serious troubles.
Did you get to the login window for Safe Mode?
As for getting at your data, you may be able to enable the root account and work with your other files.

I've never used root in OS X, but what you could do to save your data is login to the root account, then move the data from the broken user account to the Shared folder (this is within Macintosh HD>Users). Once you've moved the data you need to the Shared folder, log out of the root account and into the other working user. From there, you can move the data out of the Shared folder and into the new user account.
I'm not absolutely certain about my steps above, so let me know if you have troubles.
