Recently purchased a new mac and now my camcorder (PV-GS300) which worked with a firewire connection is no longer available on the new mac ports - they are thunderbolt - how do I download my videos - I do not want to purchase a new camcorder?

Went to Apple store and the "genius" was no help - Spent $70.00 for 2 cords - 1 that is the thunderbolt connection and the 2nd was for a belkin cord that was suppose to convert and make my old firewire cord compatible - when I went to hook everything up there was no way to attach my old cord and the new belkin cord converter is not with my camera - extremely frustrated

I guess you can consider my replies as bumps then.
Hopefully someone with a better idea will see it because I have none now.

On my old PC laptop I could simply switch from the laptop screen to the large external monitor (and back) with the F4 function key. While I can get the background image from my MBA to display, that's it. Until I noticed on the far left of the external monitor, the very edge of one of the web pages I was on. So Idragged it over to display in the centre. But that's all that's there. And now I have gone out of those web pages but they are still displaying on the monitor. There is some wierd disconnect. I'm sure it is just a setting thing. Will keep searching for answer but any advice welcome!

Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,

I don't have my computer in front of me to check, but when you connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes, there are options on what to sync. To manually manage music and other options.
If you can sync movies but not music then it suggests that the connection is good, so that part works. Which means it just may be a setting in iTUnes (and I mean iTunes on the computer, not the iPad)

I keep this as a copy and paste. It's the same process for Mac as it is for a PC. Read it over and see what you think. Post back if you have questions.

1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your PC. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.

Help I upgraded to 6 OS and everything was working ok until yesterday and now it is giving me error message that I cannot connect to iTunes. I tried the reset thing and changing the date but still not working.

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

How do I download streeming video that's NOT protected by copyright?

Hi, some amateur music sites I like have streeming videos in quick time. I would like to keep a feew of them in itunes and add them in presentations and such.
Is there a simple way of doing this perhaps similar to making screen dump stills?

You can get Snapz Pro and set it up to capture to QT anything on the desktop or in a window or selection so you could play the video and re-record it in Snapz Pro in real time. It ain't cheap.

My Apple TV couldn't connect to my network. I restarted it and now it is stuck on a screen with a picture of a USB cord pointing to the iTunes icon. Not sure what to do next.

I Checked my network, it is working properly. I tried unplugging the Apple TV. It's still showing the USB.

My iPhone 5 overheated yesterday and now it won't turn on. When I plug it to charge it only flashes the Apple logo. I've restored my device on iTunes but it's still not turning on. Help!

So I charged my phone yesterday but it didn't seem to get charged because the battery percentage went lower instead of higher after I plugged out my phone. Then the battery percentage subsequently got lower even faster, jumping from 28% to 15% within ~a minute. It was very hot too, so maybe overheating was the problem. I have multiple itunes libraries. why can't i switch between them (i can see them in the dialog box but they are not select-able)?

i have a numbe of libraries; i have never had any problems switching between them. now, when i press alt button and click through to 'choose library...', i am seeing all of my libraries in the dialog box but they are 'greyed' out and i cannot select them.

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.
