Recording standard dvd from completed FCP project thru DVD STUDIO PRO...

OH, kind geniuses...
it boils down to this...I'm very FCP friendly...production is done...I'm aware of "compressor" issue...one question tho
...is it easier to compress thru Quicktime movie or the
standard compressor functions when project is completed...
BOTTOM LINE...is it possible to crank out a standard DVD copy of a completed FCP project QUICKLY/ EASILY...thru
DVD STUDIO PRO? i've went thru the manuals for ALL, and am
affraid I'm reading T.M.I. into it... THE question..."is there a simple Wham-Bam-Thank You-Maam way to get a simple
DVD copy from a completed FCP project THRU, (the dreaded)
DVD STUDIO PRO??? I don't need to re-learn digital electronic theory...just crank out a gawl-dern DVD I can
present to a perspective employer that needs a FCP editor...
"much gnashing of teeth & lament",
thanks folks!

  • How to create a DVD from several FCP projects?

I'm strugeling to create a DVD. I feel like a fool because it used to go so easy with my old computer but with my new Mac it doesn't seem to work.....
    What I'm doing:
    - Footage MTS 1920x1080, 24Mbps .MOD files
    - I upload them from my camera into FCP
    - I make projects (let say 20 different ones)
    - I want to put all the projects on 1 DVD as seperate 'chapters/ icons'
    - With FCP I can only put one project at the time on a DVD, so that doesn't work
    - I bought DVD creater to put the exports of FCP on a DVD, problem I can not create a export out of FCP that will be recognised by dvd creater.
I know that I will be able to convert my FCP export into something else by some programme. But this is a work around, I don't really want to do such a extra step because the quality will be lower.
Ik hope someone has a solution for me!

    Hello T,
I have just exported the slideshow from iPhoto to the iPhoto Slideshow Folder, opening iDVD.
I selected create a new project as EJ3 in MoMs folder hit CREATE and iDVD quit, disappears,
THE iDVD icon is still active on the doc but how ever it is simply GONE,
this is the second time i tried this. I will restart the computer and come back and try it again.
OK. I restarted the Mac, opened iDVD, selected MAGIC iDVD and in the movie section EJ3 was no where to be found.
I will now close iDVD and try create a new project, saved MY GREAT DVD to the desktop.
Cannot find EJ3 or the other exported iPHOTO slide shows under Elizabeth.....
    they are here
but I can't select, or import, or open in iDVD.
I am totally lost and thinking that this can't be done for some unknown reason.
I am thinking if iMOVIE is the way to go OR if I should delete iDVD and reinstall it from the iLIFE disk.
I am sorry for all this failure.
    at a loss right now.

Anthony, thank you very much - this works, though I thought I had tried your process previously without success. I've tried so many things who knows. I've had zero luck going with the Send to Compressor or Export Using Compressor Settings under the Share menu. I'm also finding Compressor 4 to be a real dog on my system even though I have a brand new quad core machine with 8G of RAM. Prior to receiving your post I did come up with a different work process. Using Export Movie from FCP X and then loading the result in Compressor 3 works flawlessly. Thanks again!

  • How did I export a High-Res image from my FCP Project?

I know how to export still images using Quicktime Conversion. But it is possible to export High Resolution images from my FCP Project. You help would be much appreciated

Wow man, that's not the most efficient way to get stills. You can do this in FCP, it's easy. Here is what you do....
Go to EXPORT and then USING QUICKTIME CONVERSION
You will see a dropdown box in the right corner that says FILE FORMAT. Change that to STILL IMAGE.
Underneath you can choose which type of still Image you would like to convert the frame to (JPEG, PIC, PSD, etc) You can also change the quality
    Hope this helps.

  • Burning PAL dvd from NTSC FCP 6 project?

I need to burn a European market PAL dvd sample from a NTSC project. I've done this before for a European film festival, but it was a very hit or miss process.. Basically, back then, I mixed the project down as both PAL and NTSC files, then burned every combination of NTSC and PAL format DVDs (PAL file/PAL dvd format, NTSC file/PAL dvd format, PAL file NTSC format, and NTSC file/NTSC format).. I expected the PAL/PAL to work, but it didn't. In fact, I seem to remember that one of the combos that I least expected to work actually did.. maybe the NTSC/PAL disk (can't remember for sure)
Will someone please advise me as to the correct way to burn the NTSC project, such that it will be playable an European PAL format machines?

If you need a true PAL dvd, you need to convert your ntsc quicktime to a PAL quicktime using either compressor or something like graeme Natrresses standard conversion plug in. You will also need to recreate your dvd menus and reauthor the dvd.

  • Creating a Standard Def DVD from an HD project

I have an 2 hour HD project in Final Cut Pro and would like to make a standard definition DVD (letterboxed in 4x3).
What would people recommend me in terms of building the cleanest, best looking final result?
Downconverting via compressor to mpeg2 at the highest quality for a 2 hour length seems to be the best option? I'm not sure what will give me the best looking result. Does downconverting the HD sequence degrade image quality?
    Thank you for your expertise.

  • Recording  radio  programme  from  video  to  mac  to  dvd/cd

Hi-I have just aquired 66 and a half hours of the late great UK DJ John Peel radio show. They are all on video with just the sound.I would like to record them into the mac and then transfer this onto CD or DVD if I can.I have Sound Studio installed and have managed to record some Lp's and transfer them onto CD.So maybe i could use that-although i saw in a magazine recently that you can use Garage Band to record stuff on (although i have not bought the magazine yet).My geuss is that i would have to record them into/as MP3-which would mean i could get more onto CD or DVD.Does anyone have any pointers about the easiest way i could do this and if i would get 66 and a half hours onto one CD or DVD ? As I have never attempted to do this before. (or how many Cd's or DVD's it would take to store 66 and a half hours ?).Any tips please would be much appreciated
    thanks
    rick
ps- i have been told that the recordings are of high quality mostly-so any pointers about the quality of recording i would need to make it do it in for the quality to remain high ?
pss-i do not yet have a device to connect my video recorder to the computer-but my geuss is i would be able to connect it via the sound output plugs-if their are any on the video recorder ?

As i browsed thru the net...that is all i get...JavaSound cant work on MAC.So now i am doing using QuickTime Java. But i get an error when i run the applet...java.lang.SecurityExecption: Only able to capture media with security settings when class is signed.
    What do i do then?
I tried making it signed with a dummy certifiate...it is signed...but when i run it i get the same error message.
Please, i need this to be solved as soon as possible.

  • How do I burn a completed iMovie project to dvd

How do i burn a dvd of my completed imovie project?

In addition to John's suggestions this is what I was referring to. Use a template such as this one:
Select the button that's on the menu and delete it
Make a simple black graphic in any basic graphics application and fill it with black. Just drag the graphic into the menu to replace the background.
In map view place your video in the first play box

  • Conforming HDV from SD FCP Project

    Hi there
Having a problem today using a CMX 3600 EDL exported from a DV Pal project to conform footage at its original HDV res.
Basically the clips begin capturing, but don't stop at the out point.
The same EDL works fine at SD.
Have also tried using Media Manager to create an offline project and recapturing that way, but have the same problem.
Using a Sony Z1 as a deck - am I using the wrong device control settings or something?
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
    G5

Your FCP sequence settings need to match the output
from motion. Click on the playhead in FCP then press
(apple+0)thats a zero. The match your sequence
    settings.
This is most likely due to the software update.
Like I said, this process of "down-resing" from an HDV project to an SD project was working flawlessly before I updated the software. FCP, to my knowledge, can take an HDV project from Motion and conform it into whatever the sequence settings are. As long as it's the correct aspect ratio which in this case is 16:9 and the project is a higher resolution, of course.
My temporary solution was to export from Motion with Animation compression with the current output settings. This will give it a 4:3 aspect ratio. Then, open the movie and in the properties check off "preserve aspect ratio" and change the scaled size from 1440 x 1080 to 1920 x 1080. This will make it 16:9. Import into FCP and "viola"!
It's just stressful to find out that a process that was working doesn't work anymore.

  • Easiest way to produce NTSC DVD from PAL encore project?

I have a PAL Encore project with 25fps assets and subtitles. What's the easiest way to make an NTSC DVD from this project? Encore won't let me edit the quality settings to change from NTSC to PAL. These settings are greyed out. I take it they are dictated by the assets. Can anyone suggest how to make an NTSC project easily from this Encore project? I don't want to go back to the original footage. I want to just convert it from these Mpeg-2 files in the Encore project.
Any help would be much appreciated.

What Richard said. I'll add three things.
Encore won't let me edit the quality settings to change from NTSC to PAL. These settings are greyed out. I take it they are dictated by the assets.
They are dictated by your selections when you created the project. And NTSC vs PAL are not settings that can be changed in the project settings once created.
Regarding reusing menus. The files accessed by the Encore library for DVD projects are different for NTSC vs PAL. They have NTSC or PAL in the filename, but you don't see this from inside Encore. (They do not vary for Bluray menus.) You can take your NTSC project menus, "save as file," and then "import as menu" into a new PAL project. They will be the "wrong" pixel size and aspect ratio, but Encore may correct the par. I have never tried this. But if you get oddities doing it this way, in the new PAL project, add a PAL menu, edit in photoshop, and copy the button groups and such from the NTSC version of the menu to the PAL menu. That might work.
What I see in most of these "convert PAL from NTSC" threads is that virtually all NTSC disks play on current PAL equipment. Many users asking your question decide not to convert. that is especially true, because Richard's "export as NTSC" is not as simple as it seems.

  • Create DVD from finished FCE Project ?

Once I finish a project in FCE, can I exported as QT movie and use Toast 7 instead of iDVD to create the actual dvd???
    any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
iDVD will convert HDV content to SD format, with
letterbox at top and bottom, for a 720 X 480 display
(SD). There is an option for wide screen project in
iDVD, but there are some problems ( squashed image on
DVD). Search this forum and iDVD one to see.
Toast 7 tends to be more reliable with wide screen
movie. You get more option to select and the results
    are constant.
ffmpegX, DVDedit and visualhub are applications that
allows to tweak more parameters for your DVD
    content.
A wide screen DVD needs a wide screen monitor... that
why many persons do prefer to convert to SD with
    black bars.
    ichel Boissonneault
    Thanks Michel,
That is why I prefer Toast 7 to iDVD. For HVD context I rather downsample to SD during capture, edit in SD and burn with Toast.
I guess we will be stuck with that worflow until Apple comes out with a BluRay
burner on the Tower Macs Dual Core for any HVD context.
Do you know of any other way?
    Luis

  • Using Automator to go from a FCP Sequence to DVD

I'm not very familiar with Automator, is it possible to have a edited sequence in Final Cut Pro and be able to go directly to a burned DVD without requiring any user input? (For example, have a edited sequence and start a action, leave it alone and be able to come back and have a burned DVD.)
    Thanks!

Yeah it is pretty easy to make a DVD Studio Pro project with only a single video that plays right away...but I have to do this each week and was hoping automator could help out.
(With creating a DVD, there are two main steps, [1] Encoding the Video files through compressor and [2] Setting up and burning a DVD. I have to be at the computer to start the whole process and be there when it's finished to grab the DVD, but was hoping I wouldn't need to be there in between, allowing Automator to take the exported mpeg2 file and pop it into DVD Studio Pro and burn it out.)

  • Trying to create new DVD from selected portions of existing DVD

I have a DVD I created of my son singing from a video we copied into the Mac several months ago. I can't find the file on the MAC and I'm not sure it would help with my objective if i found it. The video tape has been taped over.
I want to capture selected portions of the old DVD onto a new DVD.
Using a camcorder and a different tape, I learned tha I-movie lets me capture clips directly from the camcorder.
How do I create clips from the old DVD and import them into iMovie like the camcorder allowed me to do. Once I create the clips, is it difficult to create a new DVD from the clips. This is a new process to me. It may be an easy step I'm missing, but missing that step is a show stopper. Can someone help. -- thanks

    Hi
Tapeing over an old tape - has it's major disadvantages. You'll never get that
same good quality again. The DVD disc has a very much lower quality than the original
    what ever way You choose.
Easy: Connect Your Camera to a set-top DVD player and copy to a new tape.
    Best quality I've got.
More elaborate (read pricey) use a video-bridge (some Cameras can do this)
Lazy and not that expencive: Buy Roxio Toast™ and let it convert back to streamingDV
that iMovie can handle. Probably about the same quality as copy to tape.
And don't put a mini DVD disc into Your Mac. You need a trayloaded DVD to do this.
or *Read what Karsten collected* (not all apply to You - please be selective):

DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and
made for any processing as editing... or, as honorable forum member
QuicktimeKirk stated: I use the analogy of the old Polaroid
"instant" cameras. Push the button, wait for the print to develop and
    show it off. ..
for using the iLife apps, you have to convert'em first, in
recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
    • DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    • Apple mpeg2 plugin (19$) + Streamclip (free)
    • VisualHub (23.32$)
    • Cinematize >60$
    • Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    • Toast 6/7/8 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
    • connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
    • Drop2DV (free) a free tool claiming to convert DVDs into dv-stream...
    • Use iSquint for your conversions : www.iSquint.org

  • Creating mdf file from a database project in Visual Studio for Web

I am very new to database programming in Visual Studio and SQL Server Express LocalDB. I went through a walk through of setting up a database project (using visual studio express 2013 for web and SQL Server Express LocalDB), adding tables and entering data
    and everything worked fine:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms233763.aspx
Then I wanted to move on to trying to build a simple application to access this database so I looked into the following tutorial:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171890.aspx
In a nutshell the tutorial says to add a new datasource and navigate to the database file, and it is looking for an .mdf file.
The database project that I created does not have an mdf file in it, only sql file, visual studio project, dbmdl file, options file, source browser database, etc.
How do I create this .mdf file, that step didn't seem to be explained in the first tutorial. I tried running the project, but didn't see any build options for creating the .mdf file. Again, sorry for the absolute beginner question.
