Recover a deleted pages document

I recently realized that I deleted a document I needed. I used data rescue II to only later realize that it does not recoginize files created in iwork pages program...anyone know of a data recovery program that does recoginize these files or any other suggestions?
Thanks
Grant

Too subtle for anyone. Especially when they have the bit between their teeth and are well into just doing the work.
Simple solution would be to program an OSX prompt after a few minutes to save your work, the most direct and easy solution, giving the user the choice.
But that is not what Apple programmers do anymore and haven't for decades. Instead we get muddled and dysfunctional stuff ups.
I used to marvel almost everyday at the genius, common sense and good design of Macs, but that was over 20 years ago. Nowadays it is a very rare occasion I even nod my head to a mild "well done". More often it is just shaking my head and asking "Why?!!!!" and "Really, you have to be kidding!".

How to retrieve deleted Pages document? Thanks.

If you have a Mac that is signed into your account and you are using Time Machine to back up your Mac, you can recover the deleted document using Time Machine.  Otherwise, without a backup souce there is no way to recover it.

  • Can I restore deleted Pages document

Can I restore a deleted Pages document?

    Hello kmayh,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains helpful advice about restoring from a previous backup. Restoring from a previous backup may restore the files that have been deleted, but keep in mind that you will lose all "new" data on the device when you restore it:

  • Is there anyway to recover deleted pages document?

I was trying to save a keynote document before, and it was forcing an iCloud version as well as, being large, I had to go into my pages documents and tried deleting all but this 1. I went ahead and tried to save a version of the iCloud documents to the mac, but it error'ed and only saved about half of the documents, so it was deleted from iCloud and not saved from this try, there is apparently no version on the computer, including mobile documents folder, i do not use time machine.

Tried backing it up from itunes, no luck. Too bad there wasn't a "Trash" feature on the I OS. Bummer. Thanks for the response-much appreciated.

  • How do I delete my i-cloud account without deleting Pages documents?

    Hi!
I am currently in panic mode.  In a way, my problem is four or five-fold.  My I-pad is only charging now and then.  So it has suddenly become urgent for me to back-up all my stuff.  I don't sync with another computer.  I only have the i-pad. So I turned to i-cloud and began setting up my account.  Everything sets up just fine except Pages.  Pages merely remains in loading mode.  It won't go any further than a hundred and thirty-two megabytes.  . It just hangs there.  My wireless signal is a strong 3G.  So that is not the problem. The big problem right now is that I can't stop the process. Turning off the i-pad does nothing for it.  After I I restart it again it starts automatically loading.   I can't delete the i-cloud account now without losing the documents!  A pop-up comes up saying so.  Why would Apple do that?!  Someone should be able to back out of the process without losing all his or her documents.  I can turn everything else off just fine:  Calendar, Notes, Photo-streaming, etc.  Not Pages.
But there is an additional complication.  The i-cloud account appears to be attempting to download document files from my old Pages app!  I had forgotten my passcode a while back, so the apple store somehow reconfigured my i-pad.  I lost all that other data some of which included Pages.    I was very angry.  They told me they could just set me up with a new passcode but that it was contrary to policy because someone there might abuse my privacy!  It was very frustrating.  They could have just let me sit there and watch them do it if they had been so worried about their own possible dishonesty!  Anyway, at the bottom of the loading screen there reads 3.8 gigabytes which is significantly more than I have in my current Pages file and  would throw me above the 5.0 gigabyte threshold.  That is another reason why I wanted to stop the process so that I could do it next month and pay for the extra storage.  I don't know if the firewall between my 'old i-pad-within- an-i-pad'  is causing the problem or something else.  I think though it may be trying to merge with the old data somehow but is unable to do so.
So, the big question is how do I stop this process without losing all my documents?  I don't want to lose everything again.

    Hi, Demo!
thanks for the reply.  I must say though that forgetting a password is nothing like following step-by-step instructions just as I am told and then having  two or three years of documents threatened.  i mean Apple Smapple.  They get things wrong all the time.  It is bad policy to lock out three years of data for a forgotten password  and, in fact, there is something wrong with the instruction system on creating an I-Cloud account when it comes to Pages.  So I blame Apple for both.
Here is what happened.  I was given clear instructions to back out of I-Cloud for everything else on my I-pad (Photos etc.) but Not for Pages.   When I wanted to halt the pricess, the pop-up said very clearly that my files would be deleted from my Pad.   So,  I just held my breath and pushed the back-out for Pages anyway even though it said it would  delete all my files.  Suddenly, another pop-up surfaced allowing me to back out just like with the others.  My data was safe!  And I was returned to the original I-Cloud account page.  I ran over to Pages and, voila, it was all there. nothing gone.  But moments later I got another pop-up saying that Pages had been deleted from my I-Pad but was successfully transferred to I-Cloud.   Pages was not deleted from my Pad, nor was anything else!   The scare was not my fault.  The pop-ups were apparently backwards.
As a side-note.  There is nothing wrong with forgetting things.  That happens.  Our brains are made to do that sometimes.   Businesses are supposed to think ahead on that,  not dumbledy-pumbledy people like me.  Still partly  my bad.  This other thing was nothing like that.  I was merely setting up an I-Cloud account  In effect, 'I_Cloud'  was threatening to take my stuff for merely signing on and then deciding not to create an account.  Their bad completely.
Come on.  Even computer illiterates need to keep an eye on Apple now.  Have you read how Carlyle, the big sinister private equity outlet, is now making Apple buy stuff it wants it to at two hundred percent mark-up?  Carlyle bought some sleek something at five hundred million.  Apple buys it six months later for two billion.  Clearly, someone else is in charge now at Apple.  My guess is that there will be less creativity  but more reflexive self-defensiveness.  That began way back with Steve Jobs when he wouldn't let the on-off toggle remain for stabilising the I-pad screen even when there was overwhelming customer desire to keep it.

If you weren't using the Mozilla Sync service, your bookmarks aren't stored anywhere except for on your PC.
Just uninstalling Firefox wouldn't delete your bookmarks, that person would have had to select the option to "remove all Firefox data and customizations".
See if this helps you. <br />

  • Can I recover a lost Pages document on my iMac?

I lost a document that was never saved. Is there any way to get it back?
I'm using my iMac (Mac OS X Version 10.6.8) and Pages (Version 4.1 (923))

You are not even covered with Lion if you have never saved.
That's the equivalent of having a brilliant idea but never putting it down on paper. Except your brain, unlike the computer, doesn't necessarily forget if you go on to doing something different.

  • [SOLVED] [Wiki] Recover a deleted page

The "ABS_FAQ" page has been cleared. Is the information from that page still available somewhere? I don't intend to resurrect it, it just had some information in it that isn't in the current "ABS" page.

    Alternative: &redirect=no.
Result. Then just click on the History button.
Edit: ops, just realized this was a small necrobump. Sorry for that.

  • I Accidently deleted my document on pages how do i Recover it?

Basically i deleted my document on my iphone not realsing it would delete it on my ipad beacuse of icloud it is really important so was wondering if there is a way of recovering it?
    Thnaks in advance.

Actually, I suppose that you should be able to restore from the iCloud backup. I just thought of that. I haven't had to do that yet and I still backup to my computer (I use both) - so - if you have backed up to iCloud - before you deleted the document - it should be in that backup - and you should be able to restore from it.
So - if you backed up say last night - and deleted the file today - it should be in the last backup - the last iCloud backup.

  • How to recover a deleted document library webpart with files in it?

    Hi,
I accidentally deleted a document library webpart with folders and files in it. Can someone help how to recover it? What do you think happens to the files? I checked the recycle bin, there is no any deleted file related to the missing files. When I checked
the Site Content and Structure, I can find the folders yet cant see the files in it. It gives a message that says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
    Please guide.
    thanks alot,

    Albert,
    Follow these steps:
    1) open page: https://your_pormal/Lists/YOUR_LIST_NAME/AllItems.aspx
    2) open page in edit mode -> add webpart -> find your list in available webparts -> add
    3) click on the ribbon Stop Editing (Page tab)
    4) Now you try open library from Site Content.
But your webpart will looks not like a when a library was created:
    Now follow these steps:
    1) Open library settings
    2) click Create View
    3) Select Standard View (don't select All Items from view templates)
    4) Name it (for example MyAllItems)
    4) Check: Make this the default view
    5) Check: Title (linked to item with edit menu)
    6) Click Save button
    7) Now you have new View (with new address)
    8) Open page https://your_pormal/Lists/YOUR_LIST_NAME/AllItems.aspx
    9) Open it in edit mode
    10) Open list webpart in edit mode
    11) Set Selected View to MyAllItems
    12) Toolbar Type to Full Toolbar
    13) Click OK (after this step it may still showed in "wrong" style)
    14) Click on the Page tap - Stop Editing
    15) Check result ;)

  • I deleted a pages document from iCloud.  how do I get it back?

How do I recover a pages document that was deleted from icloud?  I don't see a 'trash' folder. I was over eager in deleting my icloud documents to comply with storage.

There is no trash folder on icloud.  On the mac, copies of icloud files are stored in the following folder(s)
    ~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolders where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
Now use Time Machine to find versions of the missing file(s).

  • How can I delete pages in a PDF document with Reader for iPad?

Is there a way to do this within Reader? I know you can do it with MAX PDF or PDF Splicer, but I was hoping for a native way to delete - for example - 2 pages from a 10 page document and then resave it to Dropbox, email it, or something along those lines...
I assume if you cannot delete, then you cannot merge 2 documents into one?
    Thanks

I figured the app might have that ability - considering you can add text, highlight, add a signature, annotate and draw - so my thought was why not delete a page, or rearrange for that matter?.. That should be an option, this way we don't have to export to one of the other apps to delete or rearrange..
    Thanks for the help, Bernd.
BTW if anyone is looking - PDF Max can do all of the above and delete and rearrange. With PDF Splicer you can delete and rearrange as well, but it has no other features.
And as for Steve Werner whose comment was deleted after it got to my inbox, it is much more than a Reader, as you can plainly see from the amount of tasks the Reader app can do above.
