Recurring Appointments in Outlook
Hi There,
iPhone 3G connected to UK 02 Network - v2.02 Firmware
I have recurring appointments in Outlook which occur 3rd Tuesday in each month. Occasionally, these conflict with other meetings so we move them to later in the day.
When I do this, it moves OK in my outlook and notifies the other participant -- however the iPhone displays the appointment at the old and new times (duplicates).
Is this specific to the way our exhancge server is set up? Are other people experiencing the same problem?
Any suggestions? Or do I need to wait for a fix from Apple?
Thanks
Steve
There might be some similarities with my problem. Feel free also to report your problem in my "accumulative thread": http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2213281&tstart=0

ITunes not syncing recurring appointments from Outlook
Not sure if its iTunes version 10.7.0.21 or the iPhone5, but when I make changes to a recurring appointment in Outlook (the single instance, not the series) it does not reflect on iPhone's Calendar. This was useful to me when I have a monthly bill reminder and was able to mark it 'paid', for example.
Previously I had an earlier version of iTunes and a 3GS.
ThanksI am having the same problem but I do not believe it is iTunes related as it only started to happen when I updated my iPad to IOS 6.
Recurring entries are not syncing.
My iPhone with IOS 5 still syncs Outlook recurring entries via the same copy of iTunes and Outlook on my PC.
This looks like a IOS 6 issue. -
Recurring Appointments from Outlook have multiple return notifications.
When a user from a seperate office uses MS Outlook and sends one of my
users a recurring appointment (twice a week until 2011, dont ask), the
sender of the appointment receives an email confirmation of each instance
of the appointment wether it was accepted or declined. Since the sender
has created this recurring appointment until 2011, this creates roughly
150 appointment postings that our user then accepts or
declines....Problem being, the sender does not want to receive 150 email
notifications of the appointment back after the user here has accepted or
decline. In short, Im looking for a way to disable/turn off the return
notifcations of the appointment that GroupWise sends. Using groupwise
utilities and choosing None for all of the send options does not work.
Any help would be much appreciated.I'd like to know how I can fix this as well.

Sync end date of custom recurring events? - Outlook to iPod touch calendar
I've been having a particular problem with my "nonstandard" recurring appointments in Outlook that give rise to a custom recurring definition in the iPod touch I just got (software 2.1.1) when I sync with iTunes (8.0.0.35) on Windows XP by USB - I can't seem to get the end date (when there is one) to be sent to the iPod! So, for example, if I have a standard once a week event over the summer, it ends properly based on the end date, but if I have say an event every Monday and Thursday over the summer, the iPod has a "custom" recurring event definition created, but no space and no evidence of the end date, and the events keep getting shown after the Outlook defined end date (continuing after summer in this example).
I tried something called CompanionLink to see if I could get a more thorough sync, but it seems to rely on the iTunes sync. I had become used to Pocket Informant on my old Pocket PC (until the Pocket PC was just crashing too often to be functional, thus the recent purchase of an iPod touch - which even if the calendar won't sync completely has allowed me to move enough programs off the Pocket PC to have it trimmed down and working better again!). I hear the people that make Pocket Informant are working on an iPhone / iPod touch version.
In the meantime, any suggestions about the lack of end date syncing for custom recurring events, other than waiting for an Apple update (how, by the way, can i make a request to Apple? - it wasn't too clear to me on this website).

When I try to synchronise my calendar it all goes wrong when I have recurring appointments which I enter on Outlook. These are in the format ' first Tuesday of each month' as I play Bridge with different partners on different days each month so it is NOT every 4 weeks necessarily, it depends on the month. These get lost on synchronisation or sometimes end up on a totally different day/date. What can I do as it is very annoying.
Also it altered some theatre dates where I had entered both date and name of play - the name of the play vanished when I synchronised not just on i-pad but it deleted the info from Outlook as well.Others have the same complaint. iCal on the iPad can do recurring appointments, but not in the format you want (First Tuesday of every Month). It will do the same DATE each month (e.g, the 25th of each month), but for now it does not do a particular DAY of each month.

All my non-recurring appointments have been deleted from my iphone. They are stored in outlook 2010 under the archiveicloud calander. How do I restore these appointments to my phone? Thanks
The pics are gone. This is what a restore is. You erased your iphone, reinstalled your software, then added back your settings from the date of the last backup.
You should have imported your photos to your computer as you would with any digital pictures, before any restore or update.

Recurring Appointments not syncing from Outlook
My Iphone picks up the initial appointment from Outlook but not any of the reoccurences. Any ideas?
When you go into the iPhone appointment, does it say repeat? Try creating a recurring appointment on the iPhone, and sync to see if it comes over to Outlook. Then compare that appointment with the other recurring appointments you already have in Outlook to see if you notice any differences.

Outlook Client recurring appointments time zone / GMT offset problem
I will try to describe this with text, although it's a very visual problem. I added a post to my blog with
it so I could include pictures. If you think you need pictures to understand the text below, please review that entry. Please note, the one appointment instance cited below, is an example, there are many others with this same problem,
and it only happens with recurring appointments.
Relevant System Information:
Windows 7 Utlimate
Office 2010 Professional Plus (14.0.6023.1000 64-bit)
Exchange services hosted by Microsoft.
Android HTC Inspire 4G also configured as exchange active sync client.
Issue Description:
I have a specifications meeting that is scheduled for Tuesday mornings (every 2 weeks) at 8:30 am. In the body of the appointment, it even has this text spelled out. "When: Occurs every 2 weeks on Tuesday effective 11/23/2010 from 8:30
AM to 11:30 AM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)." as an indicator of the actual appointment time. The problem is that one day, several weeks after this appointment had been sent to me, Outlook 2010 decided that it was really at 1:30 PM.
Since that time it's been showing incorrectly on my calendar at 1:30 PM. So, I recognized almost immediately that this was a 5 hour difference, which happens to also be my timezone offset (except that I'm currently in daylight savings time -- so
it's really a -4 offset right now).
I ran the 2010 service pack 1 installer, based on the suggestion of my IT group, and found I already had the service pack installed. I've tried the timezone tool as well and that didn't work. Please keep reading.
Next I went to my exchange host with outlook web access. The appointment is closer to correct there, showing at 9:30am. It think here it almost seems as though it's applying the DST, but not correctly, maybe doubling it?.
Meanwhile, back in outlook, if I go to the scheduling assistant and look at my time while making an appointment with other invitees it - much to my surprise - matches the time in OWA, not the time in outlook client.
Finally, if I go to my Android and look at the appointment, it is correct. 8:30 AM.
So to summarize:
Real Appoinment: 8:30 AM
Outlook Client Time: 1:30 PM
OWA / Exchange Time: 9:30 AM
Android Calendar Time: 8:30 AM
This applies to many others, this is just a convenient example.
This applies only to recurring appointments.
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks,
JonStatus Update, and recommended next steps:
I opened a ticket with HTC support the day before yesterday (Ticket # 03543601). The initial response was an email reply with the typical level one suggestion to remove and re-add the Exchange ActiveSync account on my phone, and if that didn't resolve the
issue to do a hard reset and then add the account again. Since I have multiple users experiencing this same issue, where the common denominator seems to be centralized around the move from Outlook 2007 to 2010 and the HTC Gingerbread OS, I convinced them that
this would not be an acceptable remedy, and my case was immediately escalated without hesitation. I will say that though I don't have a resolution, I'll applaud HTC for not giving me the runaround and giving me a live person who could talk intelligently about
the issue.
Today, I received a phone call back on this ticket from someone in the escalations department at HTC named Travis. After explaining the issue in detail to him and referencing
this specific thread, he acknowledged that it did in fact sound like a coding issue coming from the device where the value in the “dispidApptTZDefStartDisplay” property was being set improperly by the device/stock email/calendar application in their implementation
of ActiveSync. He then stated that he would relay this to the developers to look into the issue. He further elaborated that the case would either be in a status of, "this is being looked into", or "We believe this to be resolved in [x] update". He said that
they will probably continue releasing updates for the Incredible (I did not specifically ask about the Incredible 2), and while the Incredible 2 is definitely slated to get Ice Cream Sandwich, the Incredible one is still in a classification of, "being evaluated".
Personally, I doubt that the Inc 1 will get ICS, but it is possible. From what I have read, the general stance is that phones will be updated for 18 months after release, and the Inc 1 is 24 months old this month (bummer - I REALLY like this phone).
According to Verizon and HTC, these are the phones that will get ICS (or Android 4.0):
Ice Cream Sandwich Coming to Many Verizon Wireless Smartphones
Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich Updates
While it is possible that an update will be released for the Incredible 1 to fix this issue, it will likely be months before one is available, so we'll probably have to move to Touchdown for Exchange by NitroDesk in order to resolve this issue....or move to
a newer phone with ICS 4.0.
Speaking of which, there is a whole laundry list of issues with Exchange ActiveSync and third-party devices. A number of them are listed in this Microsoft KB article:
Current issues with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and third-party devices
Per the article:
Microsoft's recommendation for Android - Upgrade to Android OS 4.0
Microsoft's recommendation for iPhone/iOS devices - Upgrade to iOS version 5
So, for anyone on Android experiencing this issue (or others listed in the Microsoft KB above), if your phone is likely to get ICS soon, then you may want to hold on and just be vigilant about checking your calendar on OWA. If your phone isn't slated to get
ICS or if you can't wait, my recommendation is to get Touchdown for $20. You may still have to delete and re-create appointments that are wrong, but hopefully the issue won't happen any more once you move to Touchdown. And if they do, at least you've got a
shot at a more rapid fix with a company like NitroDesk. (no offense HTC).
Good luck. I probably won't post again unless I get notice of a fix for this specific issue or some other significantly useful information.

Outlook 2007 calendar - problems with recurring appointments
In general sync appears to work. However, when amendments are made to recurring appointments I am seeing two types of problem:
1) If I DELETE one instance of a recurring appointment in Outlook it is not deleted on the iPad.
2) If I AMEND one instance of a recurring appointment the revised appointment appears, but so does the original one (eg if the appointment was for 10:00-11:00 and I move it to 14:00-15:00 in Outlook for just one week I end up with appontments at both times on the iPad for that day.
In summary the iPad seems to have the simplistic view that recurring appointments will happen EVERY time period and doesn't seem to allow for the fact that there may be individual changes.
Is this a known bug or does this work correctly for other people?
NickWe have this issue at our company as well. We have Exchange 2010 on the back end, execs with latest-model iDevices (iOS 8.1.2, iPhone 6S, iPad Air, etc.)
These execs have several monthly and weekly recurring meetings. Sometimes, they will adjust one meeting up or down a half-hour.
If done on the CEO's iPhone, it does not change his iPad or Outlook. If on his iPad, it doesn't change iPhone or Outlook.
If done via Outlook, either by him or his executive assistant (delegate editor access to calendar), outlook updates but neither iPhone.
Our Exchange admins have verified that they see the updates go from Outlook clients to Exchange and out ActiveSync.
We finally have a SyncDiagnostics profile on the iDevices, but we have to wait for the execs to make meeting changes that don't sync. -
Until recently I have been able to sync my office desktop Outlook 2010 to my home laptop through my iphone. Now my home laptop does not upload my recurring appointments to the iphone even though they appear on the laptop.
I did play with the 'days back sync' settings but I thought I restored them to before. I'm pretty sure they match the settings on my office desktop.

Recurring appointments do not synch correctly usin...
Hello
When creating Meetings/Appointments in Lotus Notes using custom repeat pattern, eg. Monday 1pm-4pm, Wednesday 8am-10am, etc., and then synchronizing to the phone (Nokia 6300), only the first appointment shows on the telefon.
I had the impression that PC Sync will expand the original repeating entries into a set of individual instances.
Is this not true? What do we miss here?
Also when choosing "every frist friday of the month" starting eg. on the 6th of march would repeat on every 6th of every month but not on the 1st Friday....
Normal repeating appointments like every week etc. work fine.
We use:
- Nokia 6300 (FW 7.21
- Lotus Notes v6.5.5
- Nokia PC Suite v7.1.18.0
- Windows XP en SP2
- USB Cable connection
I have seen similar threads, eg one thread in this forum called "Syncing recurring calendar events on S40 mobiles" but there were no answers to it.
Is this a know issue? Is it a question of telefon model used? Will this problem be solved?
Thanks,
AlainHi,
i got a 6300 and have the same problem with Outlook.
6300 firmware: version 07.21
PC Suite: version 7.1.18.0
Outlook 2003 SP3
I found a workaround in the web (it's no real solution) for Outlook.
You need Excel for this Workaround.
Maybe there is an similar way for notes.
First you have to export yout appointments to an excel file.
You can achieve this in Outlook under File/ Import-Export. her starts an assistent und you can export your appointments in an Excel file (you can choose a FROM-TO-Date).
Open the Excel file and you see every single appointment. The recurring appointments are single appointments in the file.
Delete every appointment except the recurring (now single) appointments.
Import the Excle file into your calendar. You can overwrite or keep the old appointments. If you keep it, you have a recurring and a single appointment at the same time, so I propose overwriting.
Before you try this the first time, I recommend to save your Outlook pst-file before trying.
If you synchronize now with your mobile phone, the single appointments (former recurring appointments) are synchronized correctly.
In Outlooks it makes no big difference. You still have your recurring appointments. The only disadvantage ist, that you need a little more HD-space and that you can't delete the appointments all at one time.

Recurring Appointments/Meetings - Saving UserProperties Doesn't work
Hi Guys,
I have the issue below, any help would be really appreciated!
The Aim
When a user creates or saves a new Appointment or Meeting or Reccuring Meeting, I want to set a UserProperties with some unique data.
Current Situation
I currently have a Appointment Inspector class which has an Item_Write event subscriber that is triggered when the user clicks on Save or Send etc. I am able to set the UserProperties property within this.
Within the Outlook Addin.cs, I am monitoring all ItemAdded
& ItemChanged events on the Calendar Folder. These trigger as expected when any appointment or meeting is created.
The Problem
The functionality works fine for single appointments but doesn't Recurring Appointments/Meetings. When I set the
UserProperties property within the Item_Write, I want it to happen to all occurances.
I have checked the User Property value within the ItemAdded &
ItemChanged events, which execute after the Appointment Item_Write. And it seems that the property is
NULL.
Any ideas?Hello,
If you need to add the same user property to all occurences of the recurring appointments/meetings you can use the
GetRecurrencePattern method which returns a RecurrencePattern object
that represents the recurrence attributes of an appointment. The RecurrencePattern class provides the GetOccurrence method which returns a specific instance of the AppointmentItem object
on the specified date where you can add a user property.
Also you may consider setting the property on the parent appointment item for the series. The
Parent
property of the ApointmentItem returns the parent AppointmentItem for the recurring instances and exceptions. -
Missing recurring appointments
I have sync'ed my Ipod touch calendar with outlook 2002. None of my recurring appointments that are not all day events will show up on the Ipod touch. All my other appointments show up. Anyone have a work around for this?
I have the same problem. I found a similar post that seems to be active at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4782836?tstart=0. Haven't found the solution yet, but that one seems to be getting more attention.

Can I combine single appointment 1, 2, 3 to one recurring appointment in outlook?
I schedule three single appointment from outlook from calendar, can I combine these single appointments to one recurring appointment by outlook API?
Hello Xian,
The Outlook object model doesn't provide any direct method for combining existing appointments into a series. You need to use the
GetRecurrencePattern method of the AppointmentItem class to set up
a RecurrencePattern object
that represents the recurrence attributes of an appointment. If there is no existing recurrence pattern, a new empty RecurrencePattern object is returned.
Thus, you can choose the first appointment item on the calendar and set up its recurrence pattern, then you will need to delete old two appointments.
Here is what MSDN states for recurrent appointments:
When you work with recurring appointment items, you should release any prior references, obtain new references to the recurring appointment item before you access or modify the item, and release these references as soon as you are finished and have saved
the changes. This practice applies to the recurring AppointmentItem object,
and any Exception or RecurrencePattern object.
In C#, explicitly release the memory for that object (see ReleaseComObject method of the Marshal class).
Note that even after you release your reference and attempt to obtain a new reference, if there is still an active reference, held by another add-in or Outlook, to one of the above objects, your new reference will still point to an out-of-date
copy of the object. Therefore, it is important that you release your references as soon as you are finished with the recurring appointment. -
