Redaction Issue Acrobat 9 vs XI

We are in the midst of upgrading our acrobat from 9 to XI.
We've done lots of redacting in 9 but at times we need to edit the redaction code or the overlay text.  When we do that in Acrobat XI it does not keep the Outline Color of red but changes it to blank.  When I look at the redaction code before I make the change in XI I can see that it doesn't have a outline color which is why when I edit it it doesn't have one after.
How can I ensure the outline color statys from what was in 9 in XI without having the users change the properties for each change they need to make.
Thanks,
Tyler

Thanks for getting back to me.
The problem isn't creating redaction's in XI its editing the redaction's in XI that were created in 9.
For instance we are needing to change the Overlay Text and the easy simple way is right clicking on it and picking the right overlay text.  When you do that though it's making the outline color nothing and you cannot tell you have a redaction there and now someone else might attempt to create another one over the same text.  Now you can right click on that box and then change it but that's a waste of time if I'm changing 50 redact boxes in a document.
Even just right clicking on that redaction will make me lose the Outline Color.

  • Redaction issues

I have a document that was redacted using Acrobat.  I am told the redactions can be removed using Reader.  Can this be done with the free version, or do I need to pay for a version of Reader that will do this?

Redactions cannot be removed by anything. That's the whole point.
If they aren't actually redactions (some people don't know what they are doing and draw boxes over information instead of redacting), they can be removed by Acrobat.

  • Redaction issues-report crashes

    Hello
First time user of this forum, hope someone can assist. Please and thank you in advance.
I created a PDF report consisting of number of files that were combined through Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. Some of the combined files were screen shots from websites (social media, directories etc).  those website screen shots were captured using "print to pdf".  I combined all the files together and   I made those screen shots my bookmarks.  After marking various pages for redacting I pressed "apply redactions" which resulted in "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working - close program".  I attempted different approaches by first going to 'remove hidden information' tab and checking off different combinations of applicable tabs and none of those attempts were successful.  Need to redact sections of the report, can anyone please assist ?

    Hi,
Are you still experiencing this issue.
If yes, you may send me the file i would like to test at my end. You may upload the file either on Google drive, drop box and send me the link to download using private message. How Do I Send Private Message | Adobe Community

  • Pro X Redaction issue

    FYI - I am using Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.13
If I convert a MS Word Document to a PDF file the Redaction works fine without affecting the rest of the document.
The problem I am describing below only seems to happen on documents that have been scanned to PDF from my Lanier Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax machine MP C3502.  I purchased the Adobe PDF software for the machine so that I could scan from the machine directly to my computers. The scan arrives onto both of my computers, no problem. I can open them and print them with no problems. Both Computers have Acrobat Pro X software on them.
    Here is what I do:
    1. I receive an Invoice in the mail
    2. I scan it at 600dpi from my Lanier machine to my computers
    3. I open the scanned PDF doc on my computer
4.I select Save As and give the doc a name
    5. I open the Tools and go to Protection
    6. I select Mark for Redaction
    7. I select the area I want Redacted
    8. I Apply Redaction
    9. I answer, Yes to the pop up window asking me if I want to Apply the Redaction
    10. Another pop up window confirms the Redaction is successful
    11. At this point I can see that the Redaction had occurred however the rest of the document appears washed out and I cannot read any other information on the document.  Thing such as bar codes or header in color all seem to be fine but all the type is washed out and unreadable.  I normally use Black for my redaction color however I have tried using other colors and I get the same effect.
When I first installed the Acrobat Pro X software a few years ago I never had any problems,  I recently began updating the Acrobat software a few months ago and now I have this problem,
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you,
    BG10

    Hi BG10,
Could you please try redacting any other PDF to check if the same issue comes.
Also, try using 'Print to PDF' option to your document and then apply redaction.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Acrobat Standard (9.4.6) - Issue: "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form"

I have Adobe Acrobat Standard (version 9.4.6).  I am trying to create a form but when I start the form wizard, locate the document to convert and click next, I get an error message "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form."  What's wrong?  (I've used this feature before in Adobe Pro so I am familiar with the process but I am using Standard now).  It's not letting me upload my document (an MS Word 2003 document).  Please, someone, anyone, help!  I think I got a bad batch of software here.  Any suggestions?  If it's hopeless, who do I call for a replacement if that's the case?  Is this software under warranty?

    Hello Michael,
Thank you for your email.  The file I am trying to convert to PDF and create a form with is a MS Office Word 2003 file.  It isn't any specific file; the issue happens every time.  I type my text in the Word doc and then proceed to open Adobe Acrobat Standard and use the wizard to create a form from an existing file.  I tried to repairing the software but it does not help.  Any other suggestions?  Is this version of software defective?  I really need this feature.  I look forward to your reply.  Thanks.

  • Failure to report error when redacting in Acrobat X

I have experienced a problem when using Acrobat X whereby after highlighting all of the text in a file that I wish to redact and then clicking redact certain passages of text fail to redact but fail to alert me of the failure.  As I may be redacting documents of several hundred pages it isnt practical for me to go through checking that each redactino was successful.  Is there a way to turn on an alert to warn me if a passage of text fails to redact to to information me how many of my redactions succeeded (ie 99/100 redactions were successful).

Are you able to select and/or search on the text that fails to redact? it's possible that this isn't really text but an image (or scan) of the text. The Search & Remove Text feature can only work on information that is actual text. If it is a scan or image, you can run the Recognize Text command so that the Redaction tool finds the text..

  • Issues Acrobat 9 Snow Leopard 10.6

One week ago I switched from PC to Mac, I bought an I Mac 27" and one of my first concerns was to upgrade from Acrobat Standard 9 - which I used in the Windows ambience - to Acrobat 9 Pro. I was kindly assisted in the trade in of my version by the Acrobat Store, but such a kindness did not reach the point of informing me that the program I was buying - Acrobat 9 Pro for Mac - was not compatible with the OS I had - needless to say, I declared which was  myversion of Mac OS. The result is that I had many troubles with installing Acrobat 9 Pro and - as everybody knows - I have now a half-working program, which does not install a PDF printer and uses a secondary issue for allowing to create pdf files. The Adobe customer service, which I had to consult when trying to launch the program, showed quite an awareness of the problem, and it was from them that I got the suggestion which leads to have the documents saved as adobe pdf instead of using the virtual adobe printer.
The question is: why they do not inform the buyer who has Snow Leopard that he's going to purchase a half-useless program? Gentlemen of the Adobe company, do you believe that your suggestion to use an escamotage instead of using a full working program is worth  220 euros of upgrade from Acrobat Standard to Acrobat Pro? In wait of a kind answer, I remain
    Yours Sincerely,

    I'm sorry you having Problems.
First you need to go to Disk Utilities (in Utilities folder) and Repair Permissions.
Next go to adobe.com > Support > downloads and look for the following Downlaods Adobe Pro (9.1 through 9.3.1) download them.
Now remove all of Acrobat including preferences and any adobe folders in the User Directory > Libraray > Application support. and any Preferences  in: Username > Library > Preferences (for Adobe).
Now run each up date oldest first. Don't open Acrobat.
In between do run Disk Utility in-betwen
Now if you've manged to up date.
Acrobat 9.2 on OSX.6 (Snow Leopard) doesn't use the AdobePDF Printer.
    TO create a PDF:
Go to Mac Print menu and chose PDF
Click on button and a menu should drop down and there should be a choice called Adobe Quality PDF
choose that to make your PDF:

  • I want to confirm a best practices issue - Acrobat XI Standard Forms used on an Apple OS - is this an issue?

I am creating forms in Acrobat XI Standard on a Windows 7 64 Bit machine. I am reports that the forms do not work and I am seeing screen prints where the fonts in the form fields are larger and displaced than those in the original form I created. This is happening on an Apple product. So is this an issue? I read a post from 2007 saying that it was. But is it still today and if so, is there a way to deliver a form that works in Windows and in Apple while using Acrobat XI?
    Thanks

The issue is not just Mac Preview. You must, as a form creator, be aware that anyone getting a computer or tablet today will have a PDF reader, or several, and not Adobe Reader. Not unless they choose to get it, and you would need to give them a compelling reason to both install and work out how to use it.  Readers people will have include
    * Mac OS Preview (command and used in Safari browser)
    * Windows Reader (with Windows 8)
    * Chrome, Firefox (browsers with built in PDF viewers)
    * iOS (iPad, iPhone) built in PDF (also Adobe Reader, while available, is very limited)
    * Android (tablet, phone) built in PDF (also Adobe Reader, while available, is very limited)
    * ChromeBook - built in PDF, no Adobe Reader app.
The hardest part is not geting people to install Adobe Reader, but to understand that, even if they have done so, that their browser probably doesn't use it.
Some PDF viewers ignore forms, some have limited forms support. The worst common one is Preview, as it appears to have form functionality, but it makes broken forms. Apple have no interest in fixing.

  • Redaction in Acrobat X Standard

I would like to redact documents using Acrobat X Standard. Is this available?  I have tried two versions of X Standard but neither of them have the Mark for Redaction button under Black Out & Remove Content of the Protection Tools.

It might be possible to do it with scripts, but unfortunately I don't have access to Acrobat Standard to verify it.

  • Redaction error Acrobat XI Pro Windows

When I mark for redaction on a page and apply the redaction, it is adding the same black marks on every second page from that original redaction, on the same spot on the page, in the rest of the document. However it doesn't actually redact the area in black on the subsequent pages - if there is any text, you can still see it on top of the black marks.

Hi thanks for responding. It was created with the adobe PDF printer installed with acrobat.

  • Having install issue: acrobat pro xi (trial)

I keep having problems installing acrobat pro xi trial version. Initially the error code I got was Error 16...after numerous re-install attempts the installation is interrupted and I am forced to hit "Finished" to exit from the install window.  If I try to re-install the same thing will happen.
I have gone through the folder setting options and rebooted only to encounter the same issue over and over. Working on windows xp.
I want to try the acrobat cleaner: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
but I'm nervous that it will delete other Adobe software installs(CS4) on my computer.
    Is there any hope?

    Hi Monica,
    I'd like to assist!
Error 16 ususally comes up due to insufficient user permissions.
Please follow the steps mentioned in the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/configuration-error- cs5.html
Let me know if this helped!

  • Redaction issue - retaining red boxes on original documents

We have recently upgraded to Adobe XI. When using the redaction feature, previous versions of Adobe allowed viewing the suggested redaction boxes on the original document after redaction is applied and becomes a fully redacted black boxed document. It is necessary for us to see these red box suggestions on the original document. Is there a setting that I’ve failed to activate in preferences or properties? Or is this just not an option through the redaction feature any more?

    Hi Cubbie ,
Thank You for posting on the forums. Kindly attach the screenshot of what are trying to explain for a better understanding of the issue.

  • Installation Issue - Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

I'm trying to install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on a system that currently has CS4.
A9PE will not install saying that I have a more functional product already installed, then it terminates install.
What's up with that?  Is there a way I can still install the product?

No, you can simply uninstall the Acrobat Pro component from CS4, leaving the rest of Creative Suite intact.
Go to Control Panel > Add/remove Programs, select Adobe Creative Suite and click "Remove" - the components you've got installed will show as checkboxes, so you can choose to uncheck just Acrobat (do not tick the "deactivate" box!). Once that's done, the installer for APEX9 should be perfectly happy.
Note that although many CS4 applications read and write PDF files, none of them use Acrobat to do it - so swapping out the bundled copy for a point product, even a different version, won't have any effect on things like InDesign or Illustrator.

  • Printing issues Acrobat Pro 9.5x

Suddenly Acrobat Pro 9.5x (Windows XP) won't print anything except B&W. Greyscale & color images are converted into solid black blocky bitmaps. Color text prints as black.
Xerox Phaser 6280DN (Color Laser) only affected on Win XP only. The PDF will print correctly on another printer (Brother 6490CW)
Same PDF will print correctly if printed from Illustrator CS4
Problem is recent: may have occured after installing an Epson Artisan 50 printer driver (not certain about this)
Problem does not occur printing in Acrobat 9.5x from Macs on same network
Printer test pages are normal & printing from other applications is normal
    Troubleshooting steps taken (nothing works)
Uninstalled Epson Artisan 50 printer driver
    Updated Acrobat to 9.5.2
    Uninstalled/reinstalled  Xerox Phaser Postscript driver
    Updated Xerox Phaser firmware
Cosmic rays must have hit some part of the Acrobat print engine. It as though Acrobat is applying some extremely heavy compression to all greyscale & color images. I've looked at all the preferences & cannot find anything unusual.
Reinstalling Acrobat will mean reinstalling all of CS4 right? Uggh...
    Thanks,
    Felicia

I can't believe how simple this answer is, and that if fixed my problem completely. My problem wasn't printing but that I couldn't see large portions of documents. If the document was totally from a scan, nothing would show. At the same time, the same document would open fine in Acrobat Reader or WordPerfect.
I had tried Repair twice. No change. In looking for the mythical (but non-existent!) "reset all Acrobat settings to default"), I found this page. I checked the View Large Images box and bingo, my problems were over. I have no idea how it got unchecked (my cat?).
    Anyway, thanks.
