Redifine scaling at 100% not holding as a default

Hello,
I have a document with images. Normally, the Selection Tool always says the box is 100%, and the direct selection tool, gives me the scaled size of the image. However, if I do scale the box, it stays on that number as well..I have to now manually go top the flyout menu in the control palette and set the box to redefine scale at 100%.
How do I make this the default setting so it stays checked to always redefine scale at 100% for the Frame only?
thanks!
babs

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but I'll try to answer. In General preferences, you can determine how scaling is reflected in the interface by choosing either Apply To Content or Adjust Scaling Percentage. If you select Apply To Content, scaling values are reset to 100% in the Control panel after the object is scaled. If you select Adjust Scaling Percentage, scaling values remain as specified (such as 125%), and you can choose Redefine Scaling As 100% from the Control panel menu to reset the scaling percentages to 100%.
FYI, this preference setting also affects how scaled text is reflected in the UI. For example, let's suppose you start with 12 point text and scale the text frame to double its size. If Apply To Content is selected, the Control panel displays the text size as 24. If Adjust Scaling Percentage is applied, the Control panel displays the original text size followed by the scaled size in parentheses: "12 pt (24)."
It sounds like you have Apply To Content selected, and you may want to use Adjust Scaling Percentage. Is that right?

My ipad in not holding its charge.  A 100% will only last a half of a day depending on how long I use it.  2yrs in december

batteries can only hold a full charge for so many years and you say yours is almost 2 years out.  Also, of course battery time will fluctuate depending on how you use it.

  • My iPhone 4 (purchased 9 months ago) is suddenly not holding a charge though I did nothing to change the settings, and, in fact, have turned anything that could drain it off. It will go from 100% to 70% overnight.

Ny 9-month old iPhone 4 is suddenly not holding a charge. It was just fine before this, but now, for instance, it goes from 100% to 70% overnight. Although I had not changed any settings prior to this happening, I have now turned off notifications, location services, etc. to see if it makes any difference, but it doesn't.

You may have other things causing it if you have push notifications for email or other things making background data connections. Try putting the phone in airplane mode overnight and see if that makes any difference. If it does then it's a background application issue.

  • IPhone4 will not hold a charge - This is my 3rd iPhone having this problem

    Hi all -
I appreciate any help you can provide as I'm stuck and don't know what else to do.
Last September just before the iPhone4S was released, I purchased my very first iPhone which was a iPhone4.
About 3 months after owning my iPhone, the battery drained really fast.
I took the phone to the Apple store and they ran a thousands tests. Restores, backups, test for water damage, etc. etc.
They issued me a "new iPhone4".
about 4 months after that, the same thing happened to my phone (now my 2nd iPhone4).
LONG STORY SHORT - we did the same tests, several trips to the Apple store.
They said that because I plugged my phone in to my car radio, the radio pushed out too many amps and that drianed my battery.
I denied that and said that wasn't possiable, but OK, my bad. I won't use my iPhone with my car radio.
so they issued me ANOTHER "new" iPhone4 (now my 3rd & current one).
THIS TIME I MADE URE TO CHARGE MY PHONE CAREFULLY.
i've had this phone since July.
as with my first 2 phones, I've only used the original charger that came with my iPhone and have only plugged it in to the same oulet that my wife uses for her 4s (she has no issues). Here I am 3 months later, and AGAIN my iPhone drains fast and can not hold a charge.
after being at 100% battery life, I unplug it. Check emails, twitter and espn occasionally and within an hour i'm under 20% battery life.
Can anyone PLEASE help me? Am I doing something wrong?
I don't want to restore all my apps and things again. I don't ant a "new" phone. I just ant to keep this phone and have it retain a normal battery cycle.
    PleaseHelp - Thank you

bring it into Apple for battery diagnostics.

  • My 2 year old IPad is not holding acharge as it did when new.  What should I do?

My two yeqr old IPad battery is not holding a charge as it did when new.  What should I do?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Ipad does not hold charge

After upgrading my Ipad to the new system, when i charge it , Ipad does not hold the charge. It charges 100% but when I unplug it charge goes to zero.

Of course it is possible your battery has died.
It is also possible the iPad's battery measurement system is out of calibration.  If that is the case, continue using it until it stops.  Then charge it to 100 percent again using the wall charger.  That should recalibrate the iPad's battery monitor.
If that does not help, you can try resetting (rebooting) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

  • IPod not holding its charge

I have had my iPod colour 60gb model for just over a month now and all of a sudden the battery is not holding its charge. It is literally going from full to empty in minutes. Anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar problem with a mini, (no not the car, the ipod!) and did a reset and then it held the charge next time.

  • Battery not holding its charge

My iPad battery is not holding its charge

How long does it stay charged?
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

  • My macbook pro battery is not holding a charge...what do I do?

So, suddenly, literally the last two days, my Macbook will not hold a charge.  Within about an hour or two of use, the battery drops 30%.  Previously, I could use it for several days before the charge dropped; it would take a week to go from 100% to critical and it was on all the time.  The computer is about a year and a half old (so to speak).  The closest Apple Store is almost 300 miles away.
Is there something I can do?  Install/uninstall items?
Thanks for any and all help.

Install the free Battery Health utility available on the App Store. It will tell you how much battery capacity you have left, compared to the official charge capacity when new, plus will let you monitor in-use battery drain, that will let you learn and use power management techniques to maximize runtime.
For instance, mine shows up after 32 cycles and 7.5 months of life as having 102% of max official capacity (6990 of 6900 mAh), which translates for me to around 6 hours of usage on the average, but which I can stretch out to 7 or 7.5 in a pinch. Guess I got lucky with it, cause when brand new it arrived with a 7160 mAh capacity Yours being a 13" model will show up with a smaller battery capacity.

My 1-year ipod nano locked up and would not start overnight. The on/off button will not work and stopped holding charge. No water damage, no fall, nothing unusual. I restored it (twice) but it will still not hold charge and on/off does not work. I tried to restore it again and charged it in three different locations with different cables. etc but nothing. Suggestions?

    - After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod?  If yes, restore the iPod from backup.
    - If no, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

  • Battery said it's charging but laptop is not holding any charge. At 0%

Having a battery issue and laptop not holding charge. My laptop was working fine yesterday and this is the first time I am having this problem. When I plug in the charger the light turns orange as to indicate it's charging but this is not the case. Also the orange light flickers to white sometimes to note full charge but I'm at 0%. I can only run the laptop for a minute or two before it dies. I checked the icon on the bottom right and it shows that it is plugged in and charging but stays at 0% and dies in a few minutes.
I've tried searching and tried everything.I can't remove battery easily as it is an ultrabook. I tried waiting for laptop to cool, shutting down manually, disconnect charger and plug back in, trying different wall socket. Can't seem to find a solution please help!

    Hi nomanhp,
    First Try these Steps -
    1) Go to Device manager (Control Panel) and check with battery (ACPI and Adapter) that weather its installed or uninstalled..  If uninstalled then reinstall it..   If you find the battery installed in the control panel, try uninstalling it and reinstall..   See if u find any change..
    2) If no Change found.  Along with Following the above steps, shut down and restart your laptop for every uninstall..
I mean, at device manager, uninstall the battery, turn off the laptop and start the laptop again (you might also select "restart with last good configuration" by pressing F8 while restart)...  While reinstalling, the battery gets automatically reinstalled..
You might also try clicking "scan for hardware changes" at device manager..
    3) If the problem Still persists, then ur battery is probably dead and is malfunctioning..  U would need a new Hp Battery..
If none of these above resolve ur problem, then there should be a problem with ur power board and u would need the help of expert to fix it.
Mark this Reply as "Accept as Solution" if it solves your problem.  Click "thumb up" just to say Thanks..

  • My iPod Classic 120GB is clicking and not turning on. It has been charged but does not hold charge. I am not able to restore factory settings. Error code and have tried troubleshooting options without success. Thoughts?

My iPod Classic 120GB makes a clicking noise when syncing with iTunes and will not sync. It will not turn on at this time and has been charged but does not hold the charge. After trying to sync, iTunes states that iPod must be restored. Have tried to do this but not successful, I receive an error code and have done the troubleshooting steps for the error and I am still not able to sync or use my iPod. HELP?

    Hi mafiose15,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
You can find the instructions in this article:
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
