Redistribution of weblogic.jar to the client

I have two licensing questions about how to redistribute weblogic.jar to the customer.
Q.1 Can I package weblogic.jar file in my company's software application and make
it available to the user? Assuming the user has bought the proper bea license
and weblogic is installed on the server machine already. The purpose of this is
to make it easier for out customer to install the client part of our software
on a pc.
Q.2 (If yes to Q.1) Weblogic.jar is pretty large about 25M. Can I take out the
classes not used by my client application to make it smaller and then to make
the stripped down version of the weblogic.jar available to the customer?
Thanks in advance for your help.

server. It is not required for clients.

You can do whatever you need to do to strip it down. But don't come running to us if your
client gets alot of NoClassDefFound exceptions ;) You might consider using the
verboseToZip utility we provide to help you reduce the size of this jar file.

  • [Newbie] Need to install .jar on the client or not ?

    Hello,
I have MS SQLServer 7.0 with Weblogic driver on my W2000 Server.
I try to access SQLServer from another machine. Do I need to install
some .jar on the client ?
Thanx. Sorry for this stupid question... :))

again people respond with the wrong help info. You simply need the PARAGON NTFS DRIVER FOR MAC. gives you full read and write support from your mac side to your bootcsamp side. You will always be able to read your mac side contents from your bootcamp side and also copy from mac to bootcamp while in windows mode. But buy the paragon ntfs $20 driver and you will be fine. Ive had it for years without any problems. works perfectly and easily. It also allows you to verify and repair your bootcamp partition from within disk utility on your mac side.

    Hi Nag,
With little reference to Sir Walter Scott, it would be a very tangled
web we weave in an attempt to factor out the inter-relationships of
javax interfaces that are hindering your effort. All to say, we don't
currently support JSR 110 (javax.wsdl.*) and it is not on the near term
    horizon.
Have you considered using autotype [1]?

I want to use JMX 1.0 to communicate with weblogic 8.1. The client should be run in the Java 1.5

So how can I program a class loader to load the weblogic.jar classes in? I have tried a lot of code, but failed.

  • JDriver and weblogic.jar for the wlserver 6.1 sp2

    Hi all,
After I download the jDriver for Ms sql 2000 server, I set the classpath as
    document told, I test
it using the utils.dbping it works fine. But when I try to use it with the weblogic
    server 6.1
I have the problem as following:
I included the jDriver classes in the classpath of the startWeblogic.cmd as
    set CLASSPATH=.;.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;.\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\weblogic\mssqlserver4v70\classes
    saved the startWeblogic.cmd file
Then I start the wls with startWeblogic.cmd(the new classpath). It starts fine
Then I setup the connection sql pool using the weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver
    It says "No suitable driver"
I found that in the weblogic.jar(shipped with the weblogic 6.1) and in the jDriver
classes, there are two files which have the same name is weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver.
    Because in the classpath
.\lib\weblogic.jar comes first so weblogic server takes weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver
of the weblogic.jar rather than in the jDriver classes directory. So I thought
the matter of changing the order in the classpath (.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;C:\weblogic\mssqlserver4v70\classes;.\lib\weblogic.jar")
will solve the problem, but when I changed the oder in the classpath the weblogic
server did not start AT ALL with the following errror.

  • Get server instance name without deploying weblogic.jar to client

I use wlclient.jar with my client. Using weblogic.jar instead causes the
size of the deployment package of my client to go from 4 meg to 34 meg
(roughly). I don't want full MBean functionality, all I want to do is find

    Hi,
Weblogic provides you a way to create client jar files so that the complete weblogic.jar
doesn't need to be downloaded to the client. The tool is called verboseToZip.

  • Encoding with weblogic.jar or wlclient.jar

I am using weblogic 9.0 on jrockit 1.5.0_03 I have an application deployed using stateless session EJB’s.
I have a webstart client that runs on jdk1.5.0_03. When using weblogic.jar on the client side, everything runs fine.
When using wlclient.jar on the client side, I don’t get data from the server which contains umlauts. The data are lost on the client side.
In the direction to the server I have no problems, I can store data with umlaut. I tried already setting the default encoding on server (-Dweblogic.webservice.i18n.charset=utf-16) and client (-Dfile.encoding=utf-16), with no success.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Creating a weblogic.jar file?

I am looking to minimize my client size java app, which makes use of EJBs.
I am using the verboseToZip utility that is described at:
    http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/techdeploy/verbosetozip.html
It has reduced the size of the jar from 35MB to about 700K. The application

classes in a directory named: com/rsa/jsafe. The error occurs when getting
the EJB home object (at the start of the application).

    Don,
Thanks for responding so quickly. You are correct - I am on Windows. I
didn't realize it was a case sensitivity problem. Anyway, I took your third
option, since it was the least painful for me and everything worked.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Let me guess: this is on Windows. I bet the problem concernscase-insensitive
file names. When creating the client jar, a "com" directory was created. When
it came time for the COM directory, Windows just treated it as equivalentto
"com". However java does not. There are a variety of solutions:
    a) use Unix to build the client jar
    b) use ant to extract the appropriate subset of classes from weblogic.jarwhen
creating the client.jar (bypassing the filesystem).
    c) move the COM stuff to a separate directory tree, and use somecombination of
jar -C or jar -u to create the client.jar.

I am using the verboseToZip utility that is described at:

It has reduced the size of the jar from 35MB to about 700K. Theapplication
has problems starting up, however. I get the exception shown below.Any
idea what this means? I looked in the jar file, and sure enough thereare

  • JNDI-lookup without weblogic.jar?

Is it possible to do a JNDI lookup to the remove weblogic server (using the WLInitialcontextfactory)
without using the whole weblogic.jar in the classpath? It's about 30 megs which
is far too much. I tried using only few classes from the weblogic.jar, but there
were so many dependencies that I gave up. Any workarounds?

    Hi,
Weblogic provides you a way to create client jar files so that the complete weblogic.jar
doesn't need to be downloaded to the client. See
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/adminguide/utils.html#1117405
    hope this helps,

  • Weblogic.jar not found

    Hi,
Going throu' a strange problem. I am calling an applet method from javascript. This applet method in turn access certain ejb methods which needs the class files of weblogic.jar. I have this weblogic.jar in the classpath, applet archive and both application and applet.jar reside in the same server. Obviously weblogic.jar is also in the server classpath. But when I call the applet method from javascript it is not able to find the classes in weblogic.jar. I am not sure what the problem is. Could somebody help. Thank You.

did you resolve the issue ? If so, let me know.

  • Weblogic.jar 9.2 and jboss

why when i put weblogic.jar in the jboss classpath or in my .war classpath = web-inf/lib all of its classes are class not found exception
is there a problem with this jar being inside jboss
if i take the same jar and run my application on eclipse everything works fine
but when i debug this problem and try to loader classes, they are not found
its like it being ignored and not loaded like the rest of my jars in the classpath.
is this got anything to do with security?
    Edited by: user8709596 on Sep 6, 2009 4:23 AM

found a fix to this problem
    weblogic.jar is a standalone jar
remove all javax folder from this jar and this solves the problem
and jboss will load the jar successfuly
