Redline and Markups on Portal

Hi All,
I hit a road block on providing a solution where the outside vendors could carry out the redlining and markups on a PDF document published on the portal. DMS is used as the back end and I need to export back the markups files along with the original image. I taught of redlining features of cFolders which opens up in a browser and saves the files on the SAP database which could be latter exported back to DMS.
But I am not sure if the ECL viewer has to be installed at the vendors desktop for redlining in CFolder?
Did any of you hit the same path for any of your business requirement for redlining on PDF documents on portal? What are the third party softwares or development which could be considered in this scenario. Please share!!

Hi Parry,
I agree with you. Hope in the next version of ECL Viewer this will be taken care of, as its the requirement of many businesses.
But if you are going to use the SAP DMS on webGUI then it would be easier for you to use the DMS red-lining functionality.
Alternatively till you get the PDF red-lining in cFolders, there is a work-around available.
Try converting your PDF files into tiff files and then you will be able to make red-lining in cFolders.

How to give BSP Iview look and feel of portal??

Hi All,
I've created a BSP application that I use to create an Iview for portal.
I thought that if i used htmlb tags that the look and feel of portal would be automatic to my app but its not.
I've tried assigning portal css classes to a html table but there's no effect.
I've previewed one of the standard ivews and viewed the source and found the path of the css file. But when i looked for it on the server, while the out folder was there (com.sap.portal.design.portaldesigndata) , there was no css files in this folder.
So i'm at a loss. In summary, how do i get my bsp app to have the portal look and feel????? I would prefer to use the css files so that if any changes are made to the standard, the changes will be reflected in my custom iviews too.
Any help, would be most welcome,

on the properties tab for the BSP application try selecting the "Supports Portal Integration" checkbox.

I agree with Subbarao. If u have gud command on ABAP then go for XI.And if u r technically sound in JAVA then go for EP which comprises of Knowledge Management and collaboration, portal and webdynpro.Both have gud value in the market right now.

Enable Reader Rights for Commenting and Markup in Acrobat X Pro?

I am sure there is a nice long thread somewhere on this but I cannot find the old "Enable for Commenting and Review" in Acrobat X Pro (Windows 7, 32 bit). I get basic comments (sticky and highlight) but i need to make a PDF where my Reader X users can make all the comments and markups. I also tried doing the Send for Review task and it still did not have all the tools in Reader X.

File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting & Measuring

How to add the "comment and markup toolbar" in adobe reader 9

Hi there, I've been trying to add the comment and markup toolbar in acrobat reader 9 but I simply cannot do it. I've tried both the Tools and View menus but I cannot add this particular toolbar. Does anyone know the reason? What can I do to get this toolbar? Even when in a pdf document commenting is not allowed, Should'nt I be able at least to see the toolbar unavailable?

Impossible, and illogical. PDF files are not streamed or RAM-cached so if someone is viewing a file they must have already saved it.

Printing Document and Markups

Using Mac OS X 10.4.11, Acrobat 8. I want to print one page of a document including the markups. In the Print window I select "Current Page" or "Current View" and "Document and Markups" from the "Comments and Forms" popup menu.... only the markups appear in the printed page. For example, If I underlined certain text, only the underline appears in the printed page; the text from the document is not printed.

I realized that the problem mentioned occurs only if the document is OCRed within Acrobat 8. I tried to duplicate the problem with a pdf file received already OCRed and the markups printed well along with the whole document.

PDF with notes and markup help!

I have a shiny new iPad
I have some contracts and bids in PDF format with notes and highlights marked up on them with preview on my Mac book pro.
The PDF files are saved in my iDisk
I can open them on any of my Mac computers and the notes remain intact.
When I open them on the iPad no notes appear.
I have tried email to iPad
I have tried iDisk app
I have tried goodreader
I have pages but can't figure out if that will work
This is a real deal buster. I have a walk through with an architect tomorrow to go over contracts and bids and I thought this would be a great way to walk through the project with my notes and not have to carry the laptop.
is there any way to preserve and read the notes and markup I do in Mac Preview on the iPad?
I am willing to buy an app but none of them mention this and the ones I have tried so far do not address the issue.

I don't see any way to do what you want unless you can find an app for it. Best to list the ones you have already tried so people don't uselessly suggest them to you again, and plan to use your laptop.

Why does adding interactive buttons to PDFs in Acrobat X Standard disable the Commenting and markup tools in the PDFs, but only when they are viewed in the Reader, not when opened in Acrobat? When the buttons are removed, the Commenting and markup tools are re-enabled in Reader.

Drag and Drop a Portal iView in WPC

I would like to drag and drop a portal iView into a container in the Page Editor.
In a container that allow resource type portal iview, I clicked on the "pencil logo" and click on Add. A "Web Content Browser" is invoked. It there, the portal iView is not found as these iViews are sitting in the Portal Content directory.
Just wondering how do we go about in "drag & drop" a portal iview from this editor.

Procedure
3. In the Portal Content Directory (PCD), create a folder for iViews that Web content managers can use on Web pages.
a. Choose Content Administration u2192 Portal Content and create a folder under Portal Content, for example WebPageiViews.
b. Create permitted iViews in this PCD folder (for example, as delta links).
c. Choose System Administration u2192 Permissions and navigate to the folder you created in step a.
d. In this PCD folder, give the everyone group Read permission, for example, and activate the End User indicator.
4. Show the PCD repository in the KM configuration.
a. Choose System Administration u2192 System Configuration u2192 Knowledge Management u2192 Content Management.
b. Choose Repository Managers u2192 Show Advanced Options u2192 PCD Repository.
c. Deactivate the Hide in Root Folder checkbox.
d. Restart the servlet engine.
5. Create an entry point for the folder that you created in step 1d (for example, /wpccontent/iViews).

Comment and Markup Toolbar

The file I'm proofreading is not allowing me access to the Comments and Markup toolbar. The bar itself is "greyed out" and I can't make any of the editing changes to the pdf as I normally would. The only difference I see with this file is the messages "You are viewing this document in PDF/A mode"-- is this preventing me access the C&M toolbar? Any suggestions as to how I could get this toolbar back?

You can turn off PDF/A mode in perferences: Edit > Preferences > Documents > PDF/A View Mode > Never
Once you're done editing, you shold probably set it back.

SiteMinder integration with the internal and external facing portals

We are in development phase for SiteMinder integration with the internal and external facing portals.The proposed dual authentication scheme which requires both SiteMinder for External facing portal (EFP) and LDAP for Internal portal .is it possible?
and is it possible to main to diff LDAP directories one is external users and one is for internal users.?
If you maintain 2 diff(external & internal) LDAP Directories in Siteminder Policy Server what about external users which are not exit in portal data source .
I appreciate if anyone can help me for my above query .

We do have a physical external Portal and a physical internal portal. The both the external and internal are connected to 2 LDAP directories.
For example the External Portal is connected to the Employee LDAP Direcotry and the Customer LDAP Directory. The Internal Portal is connected to the US Employee LDAP Direcotry and the EMEA LDAP Directory.
So each one of them is connected to 2 different LDAP Directories.
I believe that the Siteminder Policy is setup such that the Internal portal has a policy and the External portal has a seperate policy on the same Siteminder Server. Then each of the Policies is configured to connect to the approiate LDAP Directories.
You have to maintain the LDAP Directory information in both the portal and Siteminder Policy Server. It is required in the policy server so that it can authenticate the user and it is required in the Portal server so that it can authorize the user and display content based on thier assigned roles.

W3C CSS and Markup Validation Service

I just finished my first CSS Web site using PhotoShop, Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver. I did the site from the ground up, the visual way according to some tutorials I found that are uploaded at the Adobe Media Player server. The site checks out with zero errors using the CSS and Markup W3C Validation Services. The design holds together at http://browsershots.org/ in 75+ different browsers.
Just for fun, I checked out Adobe's, Apple's, Maximum PC's and Tom's Hardware Guide's homepages using W3C's Validation Services. All of these sites had between 80 and 339 errors per page tested.
Question:
Are these errors reported because of some proprietary coding used on the pages that the W3C Page Validator is not equipped to evaluate?
Or, are these reported errors accurate, because the pages get messed up over time because multitudes of folks are constantly making changes, and introducing errors?

It's a little of both. It's also the result of a cost/benefit analysis by the producing bean counters, I think. If the page will display OK without taking the extra time to code properly then why do it? I would also imagine that there is quite a bit of legacy code involved.
The websites to look at are those of the folks who talk the talk....
My personal ethic and workflow prevent me from taking such a cavalier approach.

Business Object, SAP BW and SAP Enterprise Portal

Hello all,
I've a few questions about the possibility for linking Business Object, SAP BW and the SAP Enterprise Portal.
The Business Package MSS 1.41 give us a functionality to display (in a federated portal) personalized Budget and costs in an Overview Iview (kind of Welcome page).
Those information are retrieved from SAP BW and I'd like to know if it's possible to retrieve those data (with the same functionality) from Business Object tool.
Is it possible to have those personalized reports without having a direct link (standard architecture) between SAP BW and the federated portal?
