Reference apps for JavaFX ?

Hi all,
I could not find any "references" to apps that are using JavaFX. For instance knowing that some serious, successfull apps are using JavaFX would obviously bring a lot of "credibility" to this new technology.
In particular Larry Ellison had at one of the recent conferences mentioned redoing the UI for OpenOffice in JavaFX. Any updates on that ?.
Are any of the Oracle Enterprise Apps ( traditional oracle apps, peoplesoft, siebel etc ...) using JavaFX ?.
Are there any alternatives to JavaFX on the JVM ?. ( Probably not ... ?)
/rk

Look at [James Weaver’s JavaFX Blog|http://learnjavafx.typepad.com/weblog/2009/07/making-music-and-software-with-my-friends-in-javafx.html], he regularly showcase such applications. Granted, they aren't numerous, but they are interesting.
Are there any alternatives to JavaFX on the JVM?It depends on your needs. I found Apache Pivot to be an interesting RIA alternative, insisting more on the "industrial" part (lot of good controls) than on the "flashy" part (limited animation and special effects).

  • PLEASE: How can I save my iphone texts and "notes" (not "the note") to my computer? I need them for reference and legal purposes. I have yet to find an app for this and iphone doesn't sync either one.

    Greetings!
I am brand new to using a Support Community -- I'm more of a in-person show me learner but...huge snowstorm and I don't want to
to make an appointment at a Genius Bar, driving 15 miles, especially since I asked about this once before  and no one there was able to
give me an "official" Apple answer .  I do hope I am posting my question (and plea) for help properly.
LOL when I had my first lil' Mac Classic, over 20 years ago, my participation in the techno world was soooo much easier, simpler.
My current situation: I have soooo many texts on my iphone and I haven't deleted many because I need the information contained in them for
future reference and for legal purposes.  I would really like to find a means and way to save them other than on the phone itself.
I've done searches for various apps yet I'm not finding what I think I would need.  It appears Apple does not sync the texts between the iphone and
    my MacBook Pro.
Also I often use Notes for quick journaling as well as copy and pasting from other apps, usually inspirational, that I know I am going to want
to read again (always with credit noted ) and these too are taking up space.  If I could email myself I would but the apps I'm using don't offer that and each day there is a new commentary -- no way to go "back".
I am currently using OS 10.6.8 on my MacBook -- my disc drive doesn't work and upgrading has to be done at the Apple Store so I don't have iCloud yet.
My iphone 4  is running OS 6.0.1 -- no upgrade until I'm at a wifi connection -- most of the time I'm using my personal hotspot.
I'm a very busy self-employed Nana raising grandchildren and a great-grandchild.  I don't have a lot of time and certainly not enough for copying and pasting every text as well as note and emailing it to myself.  There has got to be a better, easier way, yes?
I'd be most appreciative of any and all assistance here.  Oh, someone mentioned to me I ought to get a "stick" for downloading but were talking
in a language I'm still learning.
    Thank you!

  • JavaFX apps for Mac App Store

There is an AppBundler project: http://java.net/projects/appbundler
There are the JavaFX deployment tools: http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/deployment/jfxpub-deployment.htm
Oracle documentation for packaging apps for the mac says to use AppBundler:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/packagingAppsForMac.html
If I want to package a JavaFX application for delivery to the Mac App Store, should I use the AppBundler or the JavaFX packaging tools?
If the JavaFX packaging tools can be used to package an application for distribution to the Mac App Store, what are the steps to do this?
Can the JavaFX packaging tools also be used for packaging a non-JavaFX Java application for delivery to the Mac App Store?

If I want to package a JavaFX application for delivery to the Mac App Store, should I use the AppBundler or the JavaFX packaging tools?JavaFX tools is way to go. At least long term (as you need to use current beta from http://jdk7.java.net/download.html and it might have bugs).
If the JavaFX packaging tools can be used to package an application for distribution to the Mac App Store, what are the steps to do this? See materials from Scott's talk at JavaOne:

We will publish blog on this but it may take some time.
Can the JavaFX packaging tools also be used for packaging a non-JavaFX Java application for delivery to the Mac App Store?yes, see

    Hi Walk1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you would like to learn how to AirPrint to your HP printer.
I'm presuming that you have the HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer G510n. The printer doesn't support Apple's AirPrint but you are still able to print from the iPad.  I have included a document on printing from Apple devices to HP printers that don't support AirPrint. • Looking for a good Password Manager App for the iPhone

I'm looking for a good and reliable Password Manager App for the iPhone with sync capabilities on macs. I've read several reviews on several different apps on iTunes, and either they don't work properly, or they're a rip off, or they just don't sync or all of the above. Any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance.

I've been very happy with 1Password, though I haven't used the iPhone component (not having an iPhone).

  • Multiple errors opening up a App for Sharepoint in VS2013

I have every pre-requisite installed on my Server 2008 R2 VM.
I launch VS2013, I have added my Azure web site and I have logged into my o365 account successfully. When I create new Project, App for SharePoint, the solution opens up in VS and I immediately get 5 errors:

  • Error trying to create App for SharePoint Online

I'm trying to create my first app for SharePoint Online using Visual Studio 2012. I believe I have all of the pre-reqs installed/configured. I have created a dev site in our SharePoint Online environment. I am a Site Collection administrator for that site.
When I open VS2012, and try to create a new app project, it prompts me to connect to my dev site. When I enter the URL for that site, it give me the following login:
We use ADFS, so when I enter my email address, it redirects me to my organizations federated login:
Once I login, it takes me to the screen that reads "Error: An error has occurred on the server" with the standard SharePoint correlation id.
I can't seem to get past this, and it won't let me start the new app project. Any thoughts on how to proceed?
    Thanks in advance,
    cflbasser

Here is the correlation error screen for reference:

    Hi,
The user you are running with Visual Studio should have read permission on the pages of SharePoint web you are trying to deploying your app.
I suggest you add the login user to the SharePoint web in the “Site Settings”->”People and Group”.

  • How to get Client ID and Client Secret for Office App for Word which accessing SharePoint Online

we currently implementing an Office App for MS Word which access SharePoint list and get data from lists. Our aim is any user can get this app from Office App store and enter their SharePoint URL and browse their own SharePoint lists and use those. When
I was checking mechanisms which you used to access SharePoint, in some of them have used ClientId and Client Secret to authenticate with SharePoint. I have following questions.
1.If I want to sell my app using Office app store where can I get those clientId and client secret which is used to  get the access tokens.
2.Is it possible to create SharePoint app and publish it to SharePoint app store and get clientId and client secret and use it when accessing through office. So users first download our SharePoint app install it to their SharePoint environment then get out
Office App from Office app store and add it to word. Will this work?

    Hi,
    >> We are planning to develop an Office app to access SharePoint Online and SharePoint on Premise from Microsoft word.
I’m not very familiar with SharePoint development, so please correct me if I have any misunderstandings about your requirement.
The basic components of an app for Office are an XML manifest file and the default webpage of your app (server side).
    >> If I'm publishing my Office App for Word in to the Microsoft office app store, how do I get the ClientId and ClientSecret which I need to pass to authenticate with SharePoint online?
As far as I know, when register your web app to SharePoint Online, you will get the ClientId and ClientSecret from the Azure Active Directory. And you need to store the Client ID and Client
Secret on the app server side.
For details, you could reference the article
Building an Office 365 ASP.NET MVC app.
    >> If ClientId and ClientSecret not providing when we publishing Word Office App to the app store how what the ways which we can use to authenticate with SharePoint using Word Office app?
You don’t need to provide the ClientId and ClientSecret when publishing your App to App Store. They are stored on your app server side.
By the way, if you have the question about how to access the SharePoint resource in a Web Application, I will suggest you posting the questions to
SharePoint Development Forum. For this forum, we mainly discuss the questions about using the Office JavaScript API to develop Apps for Office.

  • Best practices for JavaFX architecture and patterns?

    Hi,
I want to write reusable, easy to maintain JavaFX code for a larger UI project and wonder what are the best practices doing so.
    1) Are there preferred UI patterns? MVC, MVP, Presentation Model, ...?
    2) Does it make sense to use FXML to separate View from Logic? Or should I use 2-3 Java classes instead (one for View, one for Logic, one for Domain Model, depending on the pattern)
    3) How to organize all the views? Should I use Dependency Injection? Or Singletons for each view? Spring or Guice framework, if at all?
Currently I use singletons for most views, so that I can use them from anywhere in my application. If a window is closed and opened again, I use the same instance for that, which still resists in memory.
For patterns, I try to lean on Presentation Model, since this is what I know from Flex development: Having a View layer, which contains all the UI stuff and an abstract view layer, which holds properties, that describe the View, e.g. submitButtonDisabledProperty. The View knows the abstract layer (Presentation Model), but not vice versa and the UI elements are bound to its properties.
I am unsure if this is appropriate for JavaFX, too (for Flex or Silverlight it is).
What are your recommendations / experiences for large UI projects?

You are correct that in 'pure' MVP the View should know as little about it's presenter implementation as possible. The view should just notify one or more 'listeners' that something has happened.
You can use event listeners for this, but I would highly recommend not exposing your Control-specific GUI events and instead create your own. So for example, don't expose ActionEvent or MouseEvent as these expose too much detail about your View's implementation, instead create 'semantic' events, so you might have something like 'sayHelloRequested' or 'printOptionSelected' (whatever naming system you want). This hides how the option is implemented, so you might have a 'print' button, a 'print' menu option, a CTRL+P print shortcut, or a double tap anywhere on your screen to print. The listener knows only that the view thinks 'print was requested by the user' - decoupling achieved.
Once you start doing this however you end up with an explosion of event listener interfaces. So say a view has 10 callbacks it wants to notify about, then you end up with 10 interfaces, and if you're being really pure you also end up with 10 'Event' beans (or DTOs) to encapsulate the details of that event. It starts to get ungainly even for a semi-purist like me. So the logical progression from there is usually just to define all 10 callbacks in one interface and call it something like MyViewListener.
There are two common ways to implement listeners, the traditional way is to allow an arbitrary number of listeners to be added. Whereas another option is to allow only a single listener to be added. In JFX you will notice that Button for example has a setOnAction() method not a addOnAction() method - it allows a single event handler only and let's face it this is generally fine in 95% of cases. For the remaining 5% you can just write your own aggregate event handler that dispatches the event to multiple listeners.
So if we go down the road of single event listeners, using an interface for all of the callbacks and not bothering with full 'Event' objects, you end up with something like this:
    public interface MyViewListener {
        void printRequested();
        void doSomething(int someParam);
        void doSomethingElse(String someOtherParam);
}And if you look closely at the 'Purist' option in my MVP pattern where I define interfaces for everything, then you will see that this is pretty much the exact interface I've created for the 'Presenter'. You could just as easily rename this interface to MyViewListener in this pattern and have the same outcome.
So to wrap all that up, yes, the Presenter should be decoupled and I highly favour the 'purist' option in my blog and would definitely use it if FXML didn't dictate a impure design pattern (there are some ongoing discussions about this on the OpenJFX discussion group). And, yes, my 'purist' option could be even more pure if you went for the full-blown event callback model and if you go down that road you will have an extremely clean architecture but also an extremely large code-base - totally your call whether it's worth it.
It's also worth remembering in all this, that there are a lot of people from a lot of different backgrounds using JFX and some people hate (passionately) even my semi-pure option - especially those coming from other, less heavy-weight languages. They just don't get why you wouldn't build it all into one class and reduce the overheads. So what you have in my blog is my thoughts on it, other people will most definitely differ. I'm a big fan of developer's choice, and that's why I did the smorgasboard approach even though I personally would never use some of those implementations.
Also this video on GWT is an awesome reference on GUI design patterns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDuhR18-EdM
JFX Flow draws a lot from GWT as I think it is a very clean architecture (just such a shame that they put all that effort into hiding the horrid, sordid mess that is the web+html+css, instead of making something proper, like JFX).
    Hope that helps,
    zonski

  • Anyone Recommend a Reference Book for Pages?

Specifically, I'm interested in a reference book for the latest version of Pages--just downoaded it from the App Store--for creating books to be exported to epub and viewable in the iBook app. I'm a print book designer of 22 years' experience, so I don't really need a beginners book on Pages unless it really, really covers making book for export to epub.
Preferably something I can read on my iPad in either the iBook app, the Kindle app, or even as a PDF. (A public doman--free--book would be really nice at the moment.
    Thank you.

  • Is there an app for BC sage line 50 integration

Is there an app for BC sage line 50 integration so visitors can draw down invoices and elivery notes onto theire web area

I am really confused, not at this stuff but at what your saying and not reading.
I am not sure why your not reading things:
You seem to think I am disagreeing with you on some things where I am not. your glossing over the things I am saying and I think you do not realise a number of things about open platform.
In terms of SOAP TheBCMan, your actually incorrect on the authentication and just doing an app using username and password creates a big problem in the scope of an app.
In terms of email and password - This has to be a user. So what your saying in terms of an app that may be on the app store etc - Someone has to create a user access or configure the app with their details before it will work. This is only viable for a one off app and custom solution for 1 site and either requiring a user slot for an app or needing one created.
This option is not really viable if your creating a true open platform app and has those problems and overkill in terms of your code access.
    Developer reference
"To use a site token instead of username/password, send an empty username field and the site token as the password. See example below."
This works great, and you can see it is right there in the documentation. So there is a token.
What this means for your app, and the reason this is here is that you can create an app through SOAP (and again, we got apps out there doing this! lol) and NOT require a username and password. You do not have to request it in your app, no manual setup, no need to have a user or ensure a user exists in an app, works with any user, changes to users in the admin etc.
This means that the app can be sold viable to multiple people as a proper product, its less code and no use requirements.
    - Liam is confusing a REST API with the SOAP XML API.
No, I know what is REST and what is SOAP, I also have been talking BC about open platform testing it etc, and for some time. Also helped with feedback on what is more important to turn into REST. BC plan to do so as I mentioned with those conversations.
What you are not reading and understanding is what works in terms of open platform and between and app and 3rd party server data which is what I mentioned.
    - Even if you needed an authentication token (which you do not) it still would be possible to use Javascript with said token.
Yep, as I mentioned, and Yes, in terms of viable apps on sale you need to use the authentication token, not username and password option - Thats a bad idea and not a viable selling app. And it is more straight forward with the authentication token, so your also over complicating things.
    - YOU CAN with Javascript in a BC app (admin area) access the full SOAP XML API. NOTE: You need to put usernames and passwords in the JavaScript so there is that security consideration.
No need for username and password, and as I keep saying which your ignoring, I am 1. not talking about this in most of the bits I have said and 2. WE DO THIS, we were the first having this working in open platform (Which has been available to us through alpha as partner advisory board partners)
    - YOU CAN access the API with plain old HTML and JS from the front end of the site (in this case ONLY a 3rd party middle man server needed because I would never put login credentials client side).
Of course, again Pretty offers things like email validation to more complex things, BUT to be secure this needs to be done properly with good authentication. Like any decent web application and their API access etc. Your handling personal data on BC sites in the CRM etc, not doing this properly would be lazy and stupid as I am sure you agree. But based on your comments you can give people the wrong idea about open platform and apps.
    - YOU ARE / I AM NOT breaking any rules or guidelines set out by BC or adobe because you are using plain old Javascript and HTML.
Not true, I have done lots of things, and provided feedback on what I have done with BC, checked with them and been advised what is valid, what is not. When I was accessing lots of elements of the admin, as I mentioned already here along with other things.. this and other reasons were the reasons why BC introduced apps under a different domain and iframe so they could not access the parent frames dom objects etc.
Because it is HTML and javascript it is also NOT true that you do not have to follow any guidelines or rules, yes you do. From HTML apps with other platforms like windows you can use javascript and HTML but there is authentication, methods etc. BC has already introduced this, apps are already sandboxed and the security features as I have already mentioned will be increased. Also, because these are built apps, you can not just go in and rip peoples code. Unlike a web app where the source is available, while you may view an app, if BC or the BC app store file code ripped from other apps, this breaks that apps copyright and you will be liable.
It is early days for open platform but from ownership to security and data access they are very much in the scope of app and are/will and continue to be in that scope. Like I said, if your hacking Webapp API now outside of an app - BC do not want you to do it and will close the loop holes.
Addition: As another note, You of course, can not just make an app and it will work. You have to register the app with BC, You have to declare your development site, note when the app is live so it can be deployed. Apps as well fall under security access limitations. You can not just deploy an app on a site run by another partner, neither you or the site owner can validate the app, only the other partner. This is to ensure that it is not dodgy.
The BCappstore has spent a lot of time and money and have access API's via BC to authenticate and deploy apps properly as well. If nothing of what I was saying was correct, none of this would be in place.
    - Security is my number 1 focus on any project every time, I would not compromise security of any development work I did for easy of use or a cool idea. I would turn away work before compromising yours or my security on a project.
That is great to here, I do not expect or consider any different from someone with the experience you have. You should fully well understand that despite it being Javascript and HTML or because of It as well in other regards, BC are working to introduce increased security to open platform as they already have from the first iterations. I am not sure why your arguing me on this if this is how you feel?
I am still not sure what your having ago at me for.

  • If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?

I work for a organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad and want to continue this through 2015.
At the moment we can only create apps for the iPad platform.  If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We do not need multi-folio apps as we are not a publishing company.

    Thanks Neil
I sent an email yesterday and am awaiting a reply.  Here is my email for reference.

I work for a large organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad through Indesign and the App builder.  We now want to produce apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We are not a publishing company so we will produce a small number of the apps.  If you could get back to me with a solution and approx price that would be great.
    Thanks for your time
    Regards,
