Refresh rate changes to 58 hz when disconnecting power in Bootcamp

Hello I'm currently running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 under Bootcamp.
This problem I'm having occurs when disconnecting from power. Screen flickers and I realized it's running 58 hz, instead of 60 hz.
I can't seem to stop it from happening when disconnecting from power.
Does anyone know how?
Thanks.

I had the exact same problem and fixed it just now by doing the following:
Download the latest calalyst control center: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
In the catalyst control center, go to Desktops and Displays -> My Digital Flat Panels -> Scaling Options
Move the bar all the way to Overscan.
The black border around around the second display should be gone now.  It appears that the driver installed with bootcamp just has a strange default setting.

    Hi,
when disconnecting my laptop from the outlet rather than switching to the battery, my laptop will often simply turn off even though the battery is completely charged. Other times things work as they should.
I did some searching and my problem appears similar to the one detailed here in this post.
Might anyone know the solution for this problem?
    thanks.

    Hello Luc
Like in other topic described, you should contact service and explain them what happen exactly. I am afraid there can be something wrong with power supply electronic. We can here just speculate about it.
Unfortunately I am afraid there is nothing you can do alone.

  • How to change screen refresh rate in windows 7sp1 and windows 8.1 iso image using dism

sir when i install windows 7sp1 and windows 8.1 then after the completion of setup when first time windows boots up then task bar is not shown and display is not clear and when i check under monitor settings the screen refresh rate is 60 Hertz and when i
set the screen refresh rate from 60 Hertz to 75 Hertz, then everything is OK, plz tell me why this happens?
why windows 7 sp1 and windows 8.1 automatically sets the screen refresh rate to 60Hertz instead of 75Hertz.
how can i set screen refresh rate 75 Hertz permanently in iso image using DISM ?

That is not a function of DISM. Resolution and refresh rate capabilities can be determined by multiple causes. Drivers are one, another is that most modern displays will report their capabilities to Windows.
You can specify display settings with an answer file however:
    <Display>
    <HorizontalResolution>640</HorizontalResolution>
    <VerticalResolution>480</VerticalResolution>
    <ColorDepth>16</ColorDepth>
    <RefreshRate>60</RefreshRate>
    </Display>

My M60 sometimes turns off immediately after unplugging mains power (either the AC mains or DC plug from the laptop), instead of resuming on battery power, although the battery is full.
The battery is OK & the laptop starts up regularly on battery power after pushing the on switch.
The Toshiba Power Saver seems to work OK & I have the latest BIOS.
I always save my work before disconnecting, but I still don't like this behavior & would appreciate some good advice.

Satellite M55 turns off when disconnecting power cable when disconnecting my laptop from the outlet rather than switching to the battery, my laptop will often simply turn off even though the battery is completely charged. Other times things work as they should.
I had the motherboard replaced for another reason and was fairly surprised to notice the problem after replacement (but without OS reinstall).
The main suspect is the TPS and its driver; some months ago a new version was released on Toshiba support site for M60 (though the file dates are not fresh, and I believe I have installed this version earlier).
So, I removed both TPS and TPS driver. I tested many times and it did not happen again. Not even when I reinstalled them.
While testing I turned off HD write caching to avoid file corruption problems (but this slows down HD operation, most notably hibernation).
I'm not sure if this actually works because also earlier the computer would shut down just occasionally, not every time. But this may be a clue in case you have this problem. If you do, please test and report the result, no matter what the outcome is.

What to say dude. The problem is that this issue happens ONLY sometimes and therefore its not easy to locate the real reason for such shutdowns.
However, I would try to provide some useful hints but first of all it would be useful to know how old your battery is.
Fact is that old and stressed batteries lose the own performance very quickly.
My battery is about 3 years old and my notebook would run on the battery for about 10-20 seconds even though its fully charged. The performance is simple very weak!
At the other hand the issue could be related to the faulty power supply electronic on the board
As you see its not easy to say whats exactly wrong and as already suggested in the other threads (locked) you should ask a technician for a notebook check.
The guys could run some diagnostic tests and could locate fault.

  • Changing default monitor refresh rate

    Hello-
I have just installed x86 Solaris8 on my system at home. I have a TNT2 Ultra card and I am using the default Nvidia TNT2 drivers included with the install on a Hitachi Superscan Monitor. I am capable of displaying the Solaris CDE at 1600x1200 but I have display issuesthat force me to reset my vertical and horizontal positioning every time I turn on the monitor or ever time the screen resolution changes.
This problem has existed ever since I got my videocard back whenI still had Win98 on the machine. The only way to correct it was to set the default refresh rate for all resolutions to 60Hz.
Is it possible to do this in Solaris8 and how?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Daniel J. Noah

stop the dtlogin, login on the text console, and run kdmconfig.
In kdmconfig, choose the video card menu entry, don't make changes
to the video card but use on of the multifrequency monitor entries.
For example, the multifrequency monitor entry upto 110kHz should give
~85 Hz refresh rate at 1600x1200, use one of lower freq. entries to
    tune down the refresh rate...

  • Cant change refresh rate

    hi
2 days ago i put in a connect3d 9600xt and it works great.
BUT my screen flicker when using 60hz refresh rate and i had it on my onboard gf4 to when using 60hz.
but its till there now when raising it and i tried all rates between 60-200 no difference at all.
dxdiag.exe reports the rate i have chosen.
i uninstalled old drivers and at the same time i uninstalled realtek drivers because i put in a sb audigy which works perfectly.
got the latest driver from connect3d webpage.

    good night

its not a stupid question when it comes to me
    rebooted several times.
right now im running 1024*768 32bit and windows reports im running a refresh rate of 150.
the gfx card only supports 120hz in this resolution.
i can chose up to 200hz
my monitor supports up to 150hz
ive tried every available rate between 60-200hz no change whatsoever between them.
i hate when it flicker.it gives me headache
    dont have any monitor drivers.
its running as a standard monitor.
never had this trouble with the onboard gfx before because i just change it from 60hz to 75hz or higher.
it disappears when using 70hz or higher.
    its barely visible.

  • How Can I change my refresh rate to 75hz for on LCD using 91.47 drivers?

    HI,
I use a 19" LCD and have always changed my refresh rate to 75hz to avoid ghosting in games like fifa 06 (60hz causes a nasty ghost on my 8ms panel).  I have been using the 81.98 drivers and could create an override to use 75.   The new driver will allow me to change the refresh rate to 75, but will not let me use it - I get the message "The custom resolution cannot be added".   I have coolbits2 installed.  Is there a registry setting that I can add to allow me to change the refresh rate?  If not, I'll just go back to the 81.98.  I am also using the DVI connection.
    Thank you,
    * This is on my Sli PC in my sig. *

I know that on my particular LCD monitor, if I go above the recommended rates, then the screen will just go black and won't let me see anything.  Usually it displays a message telling me that it cannot display.  I think it especially does this with the DVI connection.
You may have tried it allready, but just make sure that in your display properties you have unchecked the option to only display resolutions allowed by the monitor.
You may also want to try and see if it will let you do it with a VGA connection instead of the DVI.
Otherwise, you just may have to go back to the earlier driver.

  • Changing refresh rate blanks screen indefinitely

    Hi all,
I'm new to the mac world and I was exploring OSX upon bringing my new Mac Pro home.
I have an old 17" Benq LCD monitor (upgrading soon) that I had hooked up using the analog to DVI adapter. I've heard that LCD's usually always are set at 60Hz but stupid me had to try other refresh rates. I set the refresh rate to 80Hz and the screen went blank and a box came up stating the refresh rate was "out of range".
I thought that it would automatically revert a la XP but after 5 minutes nothing. So in the meantime I just swapped to a different video output on the video card.
Could someone please tell me how I can revert the refresh rate to 60Hz so that DVI output can be utilized.
    Thanks for reading!

Use the "Gather Windows" button in the "Display" pane of "Displays" System Preference. You can change setting for both displays from one display. You can also check "Show displays in menu bar" to get control of both displays.
Resetting PRAM, or a Safe Boot might help.

  • Change refresh rates and resolution on another computer

Hi, am i able to use a LAN cable from Computer A and connect to computer B then change B's refresh rates and resolution? for example from 800x600 to 1024x768 then change refresh rate from 60Hz to 75Hz. please advice thanks.

    Hi Trig,
Thanks for your post and I hope your well today.
There are two parts to this - in my mind:
    1. Changing Screen Resolution Programmatically From LabVIEW
    2. Use VI Server to remotely call a VI i.e. Computer A calling VI on Computer B which then runs the VI mentioned in 1.
    1.
This link is a dev zone article which has code for programmatically changing the screen resolution
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/1429
    Try it out.
    2.
    VI Server
The NI Example Finder contains some expamples for this.
    Building VI Server Applications
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361E-01/lvconcepts/building_vi_server_applications/
If you could provide more details, maybe versions of LabVIEW etc then maybe we can help you some more - have you got some code yet? And did you have any thoughts on how to do this?
Another method I have consider is:
Using a tool such that runs an exe or script which alters the resoltion.
Then using the cmd (comand line) or in LabVIEW System Exec.vi to run the exe (via VI Server).

  • How do i change my refresh rate

hi all i have a new Imac i need to change my refresh rate , i have looked in system prefernces etc

There is 3rd party software like Switch ResX that lets you set custom resolutions and refresh rates. I run my 15" rMBP at 48Hz since I edit and watch nearly everything 24fps and it helps reduce GPU strain. I can also set external displays to custom resolutions that they may not support officially, for example my LCD TV supports 48Hz in addition to 24, 50, 60Hz, etc.

  • Frame Rate change when importing video into FCP 5

I am importing an HD h264 file into FCP 5. The video when opened in QT shows that it's frame rate is 30fps, what I exported it at. When I Import the file into FCP 5 it changes the frame rate to 29.97fps, which is causing major video/audio syncing issues. Any thoughts on how to stop the frame rate change when importing? I tried changing my system settings and audio/video settings before the import to match the file and it is still picking it up at 29.97, major headache especially since I'm cutting industrial.

yeah I'm kinda limited, working with video for the web and I'm making revisions as to what has been already posted. The H264s are the originals per say as we are using a screen capturing program to obtain the video, I could re export the originals at a truer format, but with the resources I'm given, its not truly the option I can afford to take. I've found a workaround through using imovie of all things, but I rather be in FCP. I've done some editing with h264s before and this is the first time I've seen this happen, it kind of reminds me of when I had an editor a few years back digitize video that was drop frame as non-drop.

  • Laptop switches to 40hz refresh rate when i remove AC power

This problem started today,Everytime i remove the ac power;A black screen comes momentarily and the screen which i was working on comes back, but this time the animations are kinda sluggish so i checked the advanced settings for display and found out that every time i remove the ac power it switches to 40Hz refresh rate and when i switch it back to 60Hz and then i plug in,it  stays 60 but when i plug out it reverts to 40Hz.What bothers me is that this problem never came until today.

    Hey erik,
I really do appreciate your input.  That's a good idea, though honestly I don't know if I will bother with all of that now. :-)  Perhaps instead if I get a moment in the near future I may try wiping out all Intel graphics drivers entirely from the system manually and then reinstalling.
Having said all of that, on a somewhat unrelated note, I'm getting 4,900+ in 3DMark06, which is shocking!  After experiencing the trouble with the unplug/replug refresh rate switch, I tried a wide variety of solutions including using the 2361 graphics drivers from Intel's site.  This plus my high-speed fan settings at anything over 60C probably helped contribute to the score I guess.
But back to the topic... is anyone else experiencing these same refresh rate switching issues?
