Refreshing cashe parameters

We using WebLogic BI publisher and experience issue with refreshing cash (I describe example below). Could you please let me know how to how to set parameters to faster refreshing cache.
We tried manipulated with parameters Cache and Cache Size with no result.
1) In normal situation the new window appears with the PDF file being displayed. If (for example when application is overloaded) the file is not created yet then the new window would just display the error "File not found" and the user should be able to refresh the window and the file should be displayed (when finally generated on the disc). However if the file PDF is not created and the first calling of the window displays an error then any refreshing still displays an error - even when the file is on the disc. After waiting for around 30 minutes and refreshing again the file is being displayed !
2) After Report been displayed, user update data from which report is generated, display report again, but report still showing old data!

Hi,
Choose Tools --> Options --> Compiler.
In Data Service Retrieval combo box
choose Donot cache data service get latest.
Log off from your model.
log on again and goto the context menu of your bapi.
then choose Define data Service your import parameters should appear now.

I set "refresh other parameters on change" for my Text parameter, but when I write anything in field and press "Enter" nothing happens.
But in my report is parameters that get parameter from text field.
I can not understand what wrong.

The other field should be dependent on the value of this field.
keep one text filed and one list field and make the list dependent on the text field. its partially refreshing the page.

Analyzer for Excel and Office 2007: Issue on Data Refresh and Parameters

Hi all,
for a customer BIP workshop I want to prepare a demo and experience a strange issue. Hope this is known and bugfix or workaround exists.
Created a very simple demo report with two columns and a numeric parameter. Called Excel Analyzer, the document opens correctly in Excel, data are filtered properly using the parameters initial value. I always have to log in to BI Publisher Server first, when a new instance of Excel is opened.
Then I choose 'Show parameters' from the BIP add-on menu. My parameter is shown with its correct inital value. But: After pressing 'Refresh Data' (regardless if parameter value has been changed or not), a VBA error message (Code 1004) occurs. Then the excel cursor remains hourglass and no BIP related function is available in this opened Excel instance anymore.
And another thing: After choosing 'Show Parameters' there appears a new empty column under 'Report Parameters' and the first cells of the table data are overwritten with parameter values.
Think, something goes wrong there with Excel 2007. Unfortunately I only can use this version.
Thanks in advance for hints. If I cannot fix this until Friday, customer will probably not be exalted by BIP :( .

I face the same issue in Excel 2003: Run-time error 91, Object variable or With block variable not set.
This happens everytime when I try to refresh the data after I open a saved excel template. But the refresh works fine when the report is initially downloaded using the Analyzer for Excel button

Invalid parameters request by calling from an external website

Hello,
i have a problem calling a Bi-Publisher report via "Link" from an external website.
I get the following error-message: *"Invalid parameters requested."*
There are two parameters. The first one is a line_id and the second one is a head_id.
Before calling the template there is a insert-Sql-statement on the database (initiated from the external website).
Because of that there are new values in the table of the LOVs.
I think the problem is that the LOVs of the parameters are inconsistence. The values are out of date.
After waiting several hours the error message disappears and the report could be called from the external website.
Is there a way to refresh the parameters before calling the report from an external website?
Any other ideas?

I found the problem: Its due to the menue-parameters and their List-Of-Values.. It seems like a cashing-problem or something like that...
Changing the parameters to so called text-parameters solves the problem.
Maybe this workaround helps guys with the same problem...

Disable Refresh menu option on Page Title Bar

Hi,
We have a TLN node that opens an iview in a new window. Therefore nothing is displayed in the portal page. However the Page Title Bar menu still has all the options (Open in New Window, Refresh, Details etc.) and if a user selects Refresh, it throws a portal runtime error (iView not found: .default). How can I disable the menu options for this iview? I have tried setting the Show Refresh etc. parameters to No but it didn't work - I assume because the iview isn't being opened in the portal page.

the iview you need to explore is page title bar i view in default framework page available in portal standard user directory in portal content.In this context i would like to suggest a solution why don,t you creat a default framework page just copy it in your folder and open it and disable all checkboxes associated to page title bar and save after that go on to create a deskttop in portal display in system configuration and add your framework page and theme from themes in portal content and then add a rule to the main rule in super administrators folder which will for role of the user will display onle that desktop.i have illustrated the concept of branding if you want to avoid codeing or command groups which is long approach.hope this helps youplease do not forget to give points

The Multi-Select is now working, not sure what I did wrong earlier. However the "Can select all" option when building the parameter does not work as advertised, though I was able to get around that as well.

Selecting a "Single" or "Multiple Values" values from the LOV does work.
The way I am getting around the problem is to uncheck the "Can select all" and then manually select all the values in the LOV in order to get the "All".

Hi, The taskflow is not refreshing.

I have used a Employee taskflow as a region.
It is having a input parameter. I want to refresh the taskflow whenever the parameter changes.
in page def:

Check that your parameter value is changing or not ?
Are you using region inside popup or on page ?
if it is popup then set it's content delivery to lazyUncached and if on page then set partial trigger on parent component of region when you are changing parameter's value

Use Case:
I have an input text and a region below it. In the input text, you could supply employee Id and the region should display Employee Information.
On click of a button, I am setting a pageflowscope variable.

Hi Jobinesh,
I notice that the region refreshes first after I clicked the button but before the pageflowscope input parameter was updated.
I already removed the partialtrigger on the region and I was hoping that it will accept the new value of employeedId that is in pageflowscope but I noticed
that it is still reading the previous value which is blank. The adf region is still returning data from the first call in the web service which is weird.
I simplify my coding and made simple code first without the region and managed bean and the used of setpropertylistener. I used this simplified codes.
I notice that this code is ok:

Date in LOV parameters

Hi,
I am trying to pass date in parameter field, where if I select the first menu drop down list from my LOV, it gives me values for that LOV in another LOV. But when I select another one which is date format, it does return main query back with data. Please help me out since I dont know what to do now. When I pass :dstarted with hardcoded date in sql prompt, it works but doesnt work in data model for some reason. Please help me. Here are my configured details -

Problems in partial refresh

Hi everyone
In my jsp page(second page) ,I have 2 Radio buttons and I am getting some parameters from the previous jsp page(first page).
I have to refresh partially the second jsp page based on the click event of any radio buttons placed there.But when I refresh ,the parameters obtained from the first page becomes null.
I want to retain the parameters and hide some fileds(in second page) based on the Radio button selected.
Can anyone help me to solve this issue?

send the parameters as hidden fields in the second jsp n forward it to the client
so that the fields of the old jsp could be retained along with
the vslues of the paramenter of the second jsp. no need of any refresh
or use cookies or sessions

Input parameter refresh

Hi
I have 2 input parameters. One is LOV and the othere one is text. If I change the LOV value, I need the text parameter to become blank/NULL(if its initially entered). I tried to choose the ''refresh other parameters on change" checkbox in the parameter window but it does not work... the same value apperars in the text box
Is there any other way to do this?

I want to constrain parameters on another parameter based on the selection of first parameter like we do constrain on prompts in OBIEE.Is the Refresh Other Parameter on change is the check box?

when you create the parameters there is an option to refresh other parameters on change.
then all you need to do is reference that parameter in the WHERE clause of the SQL that you have for populating the List of Values.

How to use a menu model with a dynamic region and a task flow parameter

I am using JDeveloper/ADF 11.1.2.1
I have a menu model that changes which task flow is displayed in a given dynamic region using a backing bean. That works fine. I would like to be able to pass parameters to that task flow based on which menu item is clicked. For example: i have a task flow which shows a page where input fields are used to filter a table. Depending on the value of the task flow parameter I want to change which input fields are displayed. So i will have multiple menu items which refer to the same task flow but have a different set of parameters. I have tried using request scope variables and setting them in the backing bean for the dynamic region which works until the query is submitted at which point the request scope has changed and the value is no longer available. I have tried a number of other 'creative' approaches but have not gotten anything to work. Anyone done this before? Or have an idea on how to solve it?

I did a fair bit of digging based on your suggestions and some things I found in your Oracle Fusion Developer's Guide book and I came up with something that works really well. It is fairly elegant but requires code. It would be nice if something like a setPropertyListener could be rolled into the menu model. That would make my solution completely declarative.
Here is my solution:
My task flow requires a the value #{pageFlowScope.type} to be set. My application has a dynamic region that is changed on the fly using a menu model. The region uses a backing bean (mainRegionManagerBean) which is in the viewScope to manage what taskflow is shown in the region. There are multiple menu items in the menu model that point to the same task flow but pass different values to the #{pageFlowScope.type} parameter. So i wired the menu items up to different methods in the mainRegionManagerBean which set the value for me. See the relevant code below.
I would be very interested in the feedback from someone with more experience than I on my solution. Maybe there is a more elegant way...
In the backing bean there is a primary method that was created by generating a dynamic region link which sets the task flow id and then other methods which call it and set the relevant parameters. (JSFUtils is a helper class i wrote to centralize some common tasks):

Error in generating LOVs

I have a report and I have defined few parameters and I used one parameter to generate an LOV for the report.
But it is giving me an error?..
Paramter name: pName java.io.IOException: prepare query failed[nQSError: 27002] Near : Syntax error [nQSError: 26012] .
it works SQL Developer when I hard code the parameter.

I have under LOV Tab
1.Names
2.Departments
Parameters as:
pName - (parameter type-Menu , List of values -Names, ticked on- Refresh Other parameters on Change)
pDept -(parameter type -menu, List of values -Departments, ticked on -Multiselect)
and I used pName in the query for 'Departments' and addressed it as :pName in the query.
Hope I gave a clear picture.
I didnot understand the problem. is it with hardcoding?..because, this query qorked fine when I hardcoded
