Reg:Activities in DTR

Hi,
In my Application i have created an Activity name Function.
Under this activity i have embedded a new View.I have given all the necessary navigations..........
But due to some errors i had deleted my Activity Function.
So that i can work on the view afresh.
But i am unable to delete the existing View Function in the WebDynPro Explorer.I had tried manually deleting the View but in vain.
Please help me out to resolve this issue so that i can work fresh on the View.
Thanks and regards,
Chandrashekar.

Hi,
Go to the DTR perspective, select your project right click select remove from client .
Once this is completed, create inactive project.
This will help you to get the code till the last checked in state.

  • Reg: Open and Closed Activities in DTR

    Hello Guru's,
I am confused with the Open and Closed Activities in DTR, What are the significance of these activities?
And when does an Open Activity changes to Closed Activity?
And why does an Empty Open Activity gets created?
How does the Open Activities effect the Performance of the system?
In NWDS what is the significance of the Public Part and the dcdef xml files?
Please explain and if possible send the links to better understand these? I tried searching for info but with no luck.
    Appreciate the Help.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pramod

    Dear Pramod,
Activity in general can be considered as the wrapper of your changes.
While working in NWDI, any modification that you perform on your source code must be associated with an Activity.
    Some Definitions:
Client DTR: Represents the Local Track file system present on you local machine, where Checked-out a desired code from Server DTR
Server DTR: Represents the Central Repository present on the server, where your source code is checked-in.
    Open Activities
These are the activities that are not yet checked-in to Server-DTR, and they represent the Open Version.
    Exmple:
    1) Suppose you have made some modification in "File A" which is associated in Activity-1
    2) When you open the DTR Perspective in your Developer studio, you will be able to see all the changes that you have associated in the Activity-1, this DTR-perspective of your NWDS is also termed as Client-DTR.
    3) But, when you open the Server-DTR in DTR Web interface, you will not be able to see the same file structure that is present in your client DTR, it will not contain the changes that you have incorporated in Activity-1.
    4) The changes present in Activity-A are not available to any other developers, even if you try to use the same developer ID and load the same track, the activities are still said to be purely Local.
    Closed Activities
These are the activities that are already Checked-in to Server-DTR and they represent Closed Version.
    Example:
    1) In the same example explained above assume that we now Check-in the Activity-1.
    2) Now, if you open the Server-DTR in DTR Web Interface, you will be able to see the same file structure that is present in your Client-DTR.
    3) Now the changes that were present in Activity-A are also available to other developers too.
    Open Activity and Performance
    1) Open Activities create a temporary entry point reference on the Server DTR you can serach for open activities in Secer DTR web interface, every single activity occupies space on your local machine. So it may affect the performance only if the activity count is very high.
    2) In the local file system, the meta data is stored in the .dcdef file in the _comp
    subfolder.
    3) The meta data is stored in the .dcdef file, every public part has its own meta data file. They are located in the def subfolder of the component and have the fileextension pp.
Every component (DC) is defined by a set of files, stored and versioned together with the
    component in the repository.
u2022 A file with the reserved name .dcdef stores the basic attributes such as name,
description and component type, the parent component (if there is one), a list
of child components (if there are any), a list of dependencies, links to the component
sources, and the access control list. The .dcdef file must be stored directly
    in the _comp folder.
u2022 The folder _comp/def contains one file for each public part of the component,
which carries the name of the public part with the extension .pp. This file contains a list
of the development objects belonging to the public part and an access control list for
    this public part.
Both .dcdef and .pp files are stored in an XML-based format; you can display them in the
content display of the Repository Browser or with any text editor. However, this is
not necessary. To create and edit these files, use the component tools of the SAP NetWeaver
    Developer Studio.
In exceptions, you can manually repair the .dcdef or a .pp file of a component.
Note that direct manipulations are dangerous and can render a component
    unusable.
I hope you will get a clear picture now.

    Shreyas Pandya

  • Unable to load activities from DTR

    Good Morning.
We're working with Netweaver 7.0.13 and right now i'm having problems when I try to logon into the DTR.
It connects successfully to it(i mean, i can see all the inactive and active DC's) but I'm unable to see my open activities. when I try to login, inside the DTR console appears the following message
Failed to depersist SyncDB C:\Documents and Settings\pe1529\.dtr\.syncdbs\addef7b0d0189847f422188b9ff983de.syncdb.
One of the tests i've tried is to modify the readonly attibute of the syncdb file, but it doesn't seem to affect it.
I hope someone knows what happens...
    Best Regards

it seemed the computer runned out of disk space so, netweaver was unable to write the required files. By deleting some files, it worked perfectly...

It shows that all the standard DC's which are used are missing. I am also getting error in the Used DC section that all the above DC's are deleted.
I tried to add the SC again but it still didn't work. Any idea how to add those back.

  • Fewer files in cons than dev, caused by "hung" activities

    Hi,
We are doing CRM development with a JDI track, and have some problems with the first transport to Test.
After comparing the cons inactive with the dev active workspace (through http://<jdi server>/dtr/system-tools/reports/WorkspaceComparison), we see many files that are only in the dev active workspace and we currently believe that is the reason for our problems.
The root cause of this problem is that multiple activities have been created that have been activated (check-in) , but not released. We can see the list of activities under dtr/system-tools/reports/ActivityQuery, but not in the transport view of NWDS, even though the user filter is set to all users.
Normally, I would have created a new activity and added a single space to all the files, in order to force the activity over. But here we have 943 files !
Is there any way I can force the unreleased activities to be released from outside NWDS ?
    Regards
    Dagfinn

What is your Date Filter set to in the Transport View?
I don't think there's another way to release activities for transport.

  • Java DC's public parts for otther DCs' dependencies

    Hello experts.
We have just come across the following trouble working within one development team.
One of us developed some Java Classes components, created public part (Compilations and one Assembly) and inserted necessary developed Java classes to there. Assigned necessary permissions. Then he checked in created activity. By the way developed component is available for other team members.
Another person syncs existing software componets, tries to use the created Java class component and he fails. Import of Java classes is impossible.
It turned out that created public parts are unavailable. He isn't able to define dependency properties for the public parts. Public parts are highlighted in red and they are unmanaged for other developers to set dependecies.
But if he creates project of the Java class component the public parts are available.
I suppose the public parts must be available withot creation of the project.
My question is that what we need to fix and pay attantion.
In general, how to implement public parts correctly? How to make them available for other developer to use as dependecies?
Could you please help us with your valuable pieces of advise?
    Sincerely,
    Anton

Thank you for reply, but it is not necessary to create project to use public parts.
So, our problem is that we don't activate our activiti in DTR and our DC's ae synced with active source where there is no public parts we provided.
When we sync with inactive DTR source we have all necessary public parts.
    Thanks

    Hi.
I have NWDS 7.0.08 installed. I'm developing DC's assigned to a DTR. I cut off some parts as they are too long and seem to be useless.
I guess NWDS is trying to reopen the projects I was working on while it crashed. So, how can I prevent it?
I can't change my workspace because I have open activites in DTR, so I shouldn't loose my DCs.
    Help? Anybody?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi guys.
I've solved my problem. I deleted the project navigator tree structure files from workspace, and NWDS opened up with a clean workspace . But the projects themselves were there though. So I recreated my DC projects, but didn't download the sources, modified local copies are used instead.
    I deleted the these files:
    <workspace>\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.safetable\org.eclipse.core.resources
    <workspace>\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.root\###.tree
Then I opened NWDS and it was clean. I opened the Development Configurations perspective, in the Local DCs view, right-clicked on each DC and choosed "Create Project". This looks like a safe method, it worked for me.

  • NWDI- activation failed.

    Hi Experts,
I created project and i modified in developement under NWDI developement configuration for ESS,when I'm  tring to activate the DC's, Here i'm getting error in action view log
    CBS Build Log - [  NDV_NDVDEV_D/sap.com_SAP_ESS_1/default/  /sap.com/ess/us/pdata
No build log available. The DC has not been built in this request.
    anybody help me on this.

    Hi MaheeshReddY,
Did you try building you project locally (locally means just right click your DC and chose the option DC-->Build) first? if no then please do it, after building please check the build log whether it contains any errors or not?
    Case 1:
If the errors are present then resolve those errors first, then check in your activities into DTR, because if you have checked in your activity without resolving build errors, and then if you try activating those activities with "Activate even if Build Fails option checked, then it will result in a failure.
    Case 2:
If the build is successful then please check whether any components that are present locally but not on DTR.
Any required dependency that you might have forgotten to check-in. In such a scenario your local build will be successful as your required dependency is present in local environment, but when you will activate the changes. the CBS will not be able to process the complete build request as the dependecies that are required are still not checked into the DTR and hence missing. So untimately the end result comes out as an activation failure.

  • DTR: Workspaces not shown in Closed Activities view

    Hi,
    although I have set
    'User Filter' = 'All Users'
    'Date Filter' = 'Unlimited'
and selected all workspaces in the workspace filter I don't see all workspaces. I only see 5 of total 12 workspaces. For those 5 workspaces the workspace filter works as expected: if I select an entry it will be shown. If I deselect it, it will not be shown any more. For the other 7 workspaces the filter settings has no influence at all.
    Thank you for any help,
    Rémy

    Hello Pascal,
You said: The activities are not part of the cons workspace, therefore they will never be visible there.
Why is it possible to see the closed activities in the browser (http://<host>:<port>/dtr).
I created a differend Workspace Folder 'Prj2' and created 2 Workspaces 'dev' and 'cons'. Create activity and checkin. In the 'closed activities view' for the 'dev' I choose 'Integrate to' and choose the 'cons'. If I go to the 'closed activities view' for the 'cons', I can see the closed activities and that it's integrated from a different workspace.
So I think that it is something else. But what?
    Thanks,
    Patrick Willems

  • How to delete Open Activities in the DTR Web UI? Functions are missing...

    Hi@all,
we have some problems with open activities and files that are checked-out.
To solve this we found this desciption by SAP:
"Deleting Open Activities in the DTR Web UI
Since open activities can be a problem if they cannot be found any longer - for example if a developer
PC crashed - there is a function in the DTR Web UI to delete such activities (ADMINA permissions are
    required).
    1. Open the following URL: http://<host>:<port>/devinf and choose the Design Time Repository link.
    2. Choose the system-tools link.
    3. Choose the Activity search.
    4. Navigate to the workspace that contains an open activity that is no longer needed and cannot be deleted by its owner.
    5. Search for open activities.
    6. For the activity that is no longer needed, choose Revert this activity.
    7. Select the Delete the activity resource also checkbox and confirm with Revert.
The activity is reverted and deleted."
But when we go there, we only found "Activity Search" under "...\system-tools\reports\ActivitySearch", not directly under s"ystem-tools" or "administration".
So all functions for reverting or deleting activities are not there (because of reports?!?), we only can watch them.
Where can we found this? How can we delete activities? in some views files are checked-out, in others they are not... and also activities only can be seen here, not in CBS or somwhere else... we try to solve this by deleting "open" activities.
    Any idea or help?
    thx

Thanks for help, it works (we still "ignore" that dropdown?!? stupid).
    Question:
Is there only deleted the activity or also source code is reverted? Waht is with souce code that is actual?
Because we have some activities on projects that work well, but activities are there for 3 years right now. We want to make NW OK...

This is possible. The question has been asked a few times already on SDN. So an SDN search should point you in the right direction.

  • Monitor Via Toad Activities -reg

    Dears,
In our Firm, Some persons using Toad Tool for select and update the oracle purpose.
But we could not monitor the the above activities..
    1) How to block the Toad tool in Oracle DB?
    2) Any possiblites in Access DB via toad only selective users(like sales)
3)How to monitor the DDL/DML changes via Toad?
Please help us..Advance to thanks to urs valuable suggestions..
    Regards
    Shakthi

    Hi,
There are some ways to restrict the toad as below.
1: There is a temporary way, on each user machine where you want to implement for read only ,go to toad software and delete two files as below after that the user only accessible for Read Only.
    1: FullToad.lic
    2:-toad.lic
2: Purchase toad software for read only.
3: For permanent you need to authorize or not to authorize for modifying for some users then you have to create a trigger as per your requirement as below.
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER authorize_users_trig
    AFTER LOGON ON DATABASE
    begin
FOR REC IN (SELECT USERNAME,PROGRAM,MODULE,TERMINAL,MODULE_HASH FROM V$SESSION
    WHERE AUDSID = USERENV('SESSIONID'))
    LOOP
    if rec.username not in ('SYS','SYSTEM','RMS12','XYZ')
    and
    upper(rec.terminal) not like '%Computername%'
    and
    (rec.module is not null
    OR
    upper(rec.program) like '%TOAD.EXE')
    then
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20001,'Sorry You are not Authorise to Logon from this tool');
    end if;
    end loop;
    END;

  • State of my DC is "NOT MOUNTED". Seen in DTR perspective

    hi,
In the DTR perspective, when I right click on my Web Dynpro DC and select the properties option, I can see that the state of my DC is "NOT MOUNTED". Is it because of this state that I am not able to checkout files in this DC.

The operation can only be performed if the following objects are writable:The project is not in the repository, but there are some read-only files

    Hi Saravanan,
First Check whether the activity you created is existing on the DTR server or not.
To find that follow the below procedure:
Access the DTR server using the URL:
    http://<host>:<http-port>/dtr/
Then, go to "system tools" and then "reports".
Then, click on "Activity Search". In the Workspace field, give the name of the workspace in which the activity was created. Give the path starting from "ws" folder upto the "workspace" name. Then, select whatever filters you require. For example, Opened only or Closed-only. Then, click on "Show".
    This will list the Open-Activities.
    Then you can proceed accordingly.
    Reward points if helpful.
