Regarding conversion of PDF Reports into .XLS or .XLSX format report in SAP MII

Hi,
Is there any way out within the scope of SAP MII to convert PDF Reports into .XLS or .XLSX formatted output.
It is possible to convert PDF Reports into .CSV format through SAP MII, but I am not sure about .XLS format.
Can anyone help me doing this?

  • Download report into a flat file format

    Hi Friends,
    I would like to know your thoughts on what is the best practice most of you using to download a report into a flat file(NOT csv).
    In my application business users want a report to be downloaded into their local desktop (just like a .csv) but into a flat file and they have their byte specific format.
    My concerns :
    1) Is there any straight method to download a report into a flatfile (like it is now for CSV) from Apex 3.1.2 ?
    2) If I write my own code using UTL_FILE, can I let the user to save them to their desired directory on their desktop ?
    Your thoughts would definitely help me in delivering a right solution to the users in this regard.
    Thanks a lot.
    Raj.

    Raj:
    You could create a 'Before Header' page process to create this 'flat file'. The code for the page process will be something similar to declare
    v_file_name   VARCHAR2 (2000) := 'fixedFieldsFile.txt';
    --- Client Record Format
    f1 char(20);
    f2 char(20);
    f3 char(20);
    ---- End format
    begin
    OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('application/txt', FALSE);
    htp.p('Content-Disposition:attachment;filename="'|| v_file_name|| '"');
    OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
    for c1 in (select * from emp) loop                           ----- The report query
    f1:= c1.empno;f2:=c1.ename;f3:=c1.sal;
    htp.p(f1||f2||f3);
    end loop;
    apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error:=true;
    exception when others then
    null;
    end; Varad

  • Query regarding conversion of Quick Time movie files to .swf format

    Hello Everyone,
    Is it possible to convert QT movie files to .swf format using
    any tool ?
    Will it significantly reduce the file size ?
    Suppose we have a QT movie file of size 3MB , when it is
    converted to .swf
    format what will be its size ?
    Then can we play this .swf file using QT player or we require
    flash player
    to do so .
    Kindly answer these queries.
    Thanking you,
    With Best regards,
    Anil.

    Hi Anil.
    Yes, you can. You can import QT movies into Flash and embed
    the movie and then
    export an swf version of it. You can also convert teh video
    to a FLV (Flash
    video) and have a swf that provides the controls and player
    for it.
    > Will it significantly reduce the file size ?
    File size probably will go down but that depnds on what
    compression the orginal
    QT has and what compression you use when importing to Flash.
    I'd say start with
    a high quality QT, then try various compression levels when
    importing to get
    the best size to quality balance.
    > Suppose we have a QT movie file of size 3MB , when it is

    Is hard to say - as mentione dabove, depends on what the QT's
    compression is.
    > Then can we play this .swf file using QT player or we
    require flash player
    > to do so .
    You'll have to play the swf through Flash. Why would you wnat
    to play it
    through QT?
    What's the output for - CD/web? I'd suggest FLVs ratehr than
    an embedded vidoe
    into a swf as you can get better quality control and
    playback.

  • Cannot change DPI when exporting a PDF page into a raster image format

    Since I installed the Mac OS X 10.5.6 update, I can no longer change the resolution of the images I'm trying to export (for example, PNG or TIFF files) from PDF documents.
    The resolution is always set to "150 pixels / inch," and even if I change the amount to lower or higher, or change the unit to "pixels / cm," the document is exported in 150 pixels/inch, while the settings set previously in the "Save As" dialogue to export the file have been reverted.
    Is there any workaround?

    Let me guess, the DPI is just some data in the metadata of the file, right? I thought I would get more pixels in the image instead. Let's say, an image at 200x300 pixels at 150 ppi would be 400x600 pixels at 300 ppi, which is what I thought it would do.
    Am I wrong?

  • When calling report from forms, only html format report can show chinese characters

    To all experts,
    When I run report by calling run_report_object() in forms, only html format can show chinese characters. If I choose pdf format, garbage characters were shown instead of chinese characters. My settings on server are as follows:
    NLS_LANG=TRADITIONAL CHINESE_HONG KONG.UTF8
    FORMS60_REPFORMAT=PDF
    Do you know why? I hope to print report in PDF format as PDF turned out to be more regular in format. Is there any additional settings required?
    May experts here broaden my mind?
    Richard

    You have two different ways of generating Japanese PDF files from Reoprts. One is font aliasing and the other is font subsetting.
    <font aliasing>
    You will need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).
    [ PDF ]
    .....JA16SJIS = "KozMinPro-Regular-Acro"
    "MS UI Gothic".....JA16SJIS = "KozMinPro-Regular-Acro"
    You may need to download and install Japanese Font Pack from Adobe's web site (if your Acrobat is non-Japanese version).
    <font subsetting>
    You will need to add C:\WINNT\Fonts (or wherever your TTF/TTC fonts are installed) to your REPORTS_PATH.
    You will also need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).
    [ PDF:Subset ]
    "Andale Duospace WT J" = "Aduoj.ttf"
    "Albany WT J"="AlbanWTJ.ttf"
    "MS UI Gothic" = "msgothic.ttc"

  • Convert abap reports into crystal reports

    Hi,
    We are trying to convert abap reports into crystal reports.We could convert these reports into XML files
    Now we want to create utility which will automate the conversion of XML files into RPT files of crystal reports.Later on we can refresh the data in reports by changing the datasource location.
    Can you please guide us whether it is possible and if yes how should we go about it?
    regards,
    shital

    Hi, i suggest, 2 technies to do this, the first one, you can use,
    CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>EXECUTE
      EXPORTING
        APPLICATION            = 'C:\Program Files\crystalreports.exe'
      EXCEPTIONS
        CNTL_ERROR             = 1
        ERROR_NO_GUI           = 2
        BAD_PARAMETER          = 3
        FILE_NOT_FOUND         = 4
        PATH_NOT_FOUND         = 5
        FILE_EXTENSION_UNKNOWN = 6
        ERROR_EXECUTE_FAILED   = 7
        SYNCHRONOUS_FAILED     = 8
        NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI   = 9
        OTHERS                 = 10.
    where, exe file could be, a crviewer.exe, and, use a parameters  ( on exe ) to indicate rpt file, or, define of standar mode, a generic name and put, xml file generated via abap, on  a repository, this way, rpt file, when launched, displaying file.
    the second choice, could be,  go SM69, click create. enter a command name 'ZCREXE', enter the path and the exe file name in operating system command field. You can call this exe from ABAP using SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
    i hope so that my answers help you.
    greetings.

  • ALV Report into excel

    Hi All,
    I have developed an ALV Report and its having 58 columns.
    While converting report into excel sheet (on ALV Report screen), i can save the excel sheet.
    But in excel sheet, i am not getting the exact report in correct columns.
    Few columns are getting into next line inthe excel sheet.
    How to avoid this problem...???
    Is it due to more number of columns in ALV (58 columns)...?????
    Regards
    Pavan

    Go through the code and Execute it on your system, I think this will do for you.
    In this code I used 3 radio buttons in my selection screen:
    If u selects the first radio button your out put shows into to the Excel sheet.
    If u selects the second radio button your out put shows the in the Editor screen.
    If u clicks the third radio button your output shows into the Excel as well as in the Editor.

  • How to Schedule Report Output in EXCEL (.cvs) format for Planning 11.1.2.1

    Hi all,
    I'm using Planning 11.1.2.1 for entering data and generating reports manually via Workspace. I wanna set up an automation process with a batch scheduler.
    I've gone over the documentation. I've read about creating batches first then scheduling batches next.
    However, the biggest issue I have is that I want to extract all my reports into EXCEL Spreadsheet (.cvs) format and according to the docs, it only supports output in PDF or HTML for 11.1.2.1.
    Is this true? Is there a way to work around this by using Business Rules at command prompt?
    Thanks,
    N

    If you have the Financial Report open there are two options:
    - in the bottom right hand corner of the report click the link: "Export In Query ready Mode"
    (this opens the report so you can use it as an Excel retrieve)
    - from the Hyperion menu, select File>Export>Excel
    (this exports the headers as objects and the data grid, so you can manipulate in Excel).
    Cheers, Iain

    On my Windows environment the JRC export into PDF work perfectly. I know that there are some known issues regarding the usage of JRC on Linux environments. Could this be one of those?
    Any solution (or workaround) would be highly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    PS Maybe this is relevant: I use a MySQL database!

  • Get report into PDF - with header logo

    I want to batch generate Discoverer reports into PDF files, with the company logo in the header.
    So, for batch generation - the easiest thing is to write a script which calls Desktop. Ok, no problem.
    Oh, sorry, you can't export to PDF using desktop. Grrr. So okay, I use a utility named Neevia to take the html export from Desktop and covert that to PDF.
    Oh, so sorry! Export to html from Desktop does not output the logo!
    This is on version 10.1 (not that things sound improved more recently).
    I'm tempted to try using a print to pdf print driver, but I need to run hundreds of reports... typically those print drivers (PrimoPDF for example) will pop up and ask for the file name to be specified. I don't see a way to have the batch script answer that prompt with a unique name for each report.
    Ideas folks? It all seems like a Catch-22 to try to get PDF + Logo + Batch generation. Pick 1.

    Hi,
    We use print to PDF print driver to generate PDF. You can set the default directory so that the PDF driver does not prompt for the filename. The filename defaults to the same name as the .DIS file. We use Adobe Professional for this but I am sure you can do the same with other print drivers. What is a pain, and I really wish Oracle would fix this, is that you cannot print from a workbook stored in the database so all the workbooks have to be stored locally. Using a VBScript we can generate dozens of PDF reports overnight without any problems.
