Regarding EPM Services

Hello,
We had a certain issue during the weekly Reboot process. The process involves : first stop all services , Reboot the servers and Start all services . All is good till here where we could see the services started in a certain log file which gave us the information . But suddenly after an hour or so , one of the Vital service was stopped without no reason and had to Start manually . Is there anything going beyond the scene ? Would appreciate any comments on the same .

The information I got from the Windows event log were that :
First the WMI (Windows module Installer) performance Adapter service entered Stopped State
Within few seconds the EAL Service also stopped .
So it looks like because of failure in WMI , EAL services got affected . Not sure why it happened !!

EPM Services status check

Hi,
I would like to know how to check the status of EPM services without logging in to the Weblogic console. EPM version is 11.1.2.3.
For example, I can start/stop the Foundation Services using EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE/bin/startFoundationServices.sh or stopFoundationServices.sh.
But which command do I use to check from Linux terminal if the service is up or down ?

You can run a web check, you can run a validate, you can check the logs, you can check the process is running, you can check the port is active.
Lots of different methods, pick a method, research, implement.

Does weblogic starts with EPM services?

Hi Guys
I usually starts my EPM services using ./start.sh script. After the script finished running i am able to run my EPM applications.
My questions is, ./start.sh script doesn't start weblogic (correct me if i am wrong) than how am i able to run applications which are deployed on weblogic server? when it is not running.

Also to the OP it doesn't take much to do a quick search on the internet for clarification on admin and managed servers:
"One instance of WebLogic Server in each domain acts as an Administration Server. The Administration Server provides a central point for managing a WebLogic Server domain. All other WebLogic Server instances in a domain are called Managed Servers."

Oracle client for EPM Services?

I think if you are using Oracle as the repository for EPMA then you will have to install the oracle client on the machine that has the EPMA dimension server installed.

I was LIED to regarding a SERVICE UPGRADE. UNBELIEVABLY disappointing and dishonest

I have been a loyal verizon customer for over a year. Was excited to have my new service installed at my new place. $106 a month including DVR. Very pleased.
I could not view my bill or change services within the first month but wanted to look into a land line. I spoke with a Verizon customer service rep on the phone who ASSURED me that we could keep that same price as long as we locked in a contract. He informed me that the first bill would be $121, but that this was just "initial charges" that would go away and that the bill would go back to within a couple of dollars of $106.
Of course, without being able to see this and taking my oral understanding of the contractual terms I was agreeing to from the Representative, we signed up for the 24 month contract in order to get the price of $106 including everything I had plus a landline. Of course this turned out to be a BLATANT lie and the actual bill is $140! I would never have agreed to this, nor is this what I agreed to over the phone. I am incredibly disappointed in Verizon for allowing such tactics and I can only hope that someone on this forum working for Verizon can help me resolve this indecent and fraudulent misrepresentation before I am forced to take further action. I appreciate any advice or help.

I purchased an iPad 1 (in Australia where I used to live) and 5 months after the warrenty had run out it ceased to turn on. This I hasten to add, was only 1yr 5 months after purchasing it, and I think we all expect a premium product, which we pay a premium price for to work for longer then 1yr 5 months.
This aside, I was advised my the Apple service centre in Singapore (Where I now reside) that due to the lack of warranty I would have to pay circa $450 SGD (£225) to get a "new" IPad 1. This was my only option.
After begrudgingly parting with my money I recieved a "new" iPad with a 3 month warranty a week later (less than a week ago)
The iPad has since stopped turning on again, having exactly the same problem as previously. I was advised by the genius at the Apple retail outlet in Isreal (where I am currently, bearing in mind there is no official Apple store in the country) that the iPad I had in my possesion was purchased in Australia a yr and 5 months ago and had no warranty. Not only had I paid $450 SGD for Apple only to fix my old iPad, I had been falsely advised that I would be recieving a new Apple product and my serial number has not been updated with the additional warranty. I feel a little cheated.
Personaly I am dissmayed by this turn of events and feel hugely let down by Apple.
I was going to give the iPad to my father as a present as I haven't seen him for 2 years, but it's worthless.
Any assistance with this matter would be highly appreciated, I just want an iPad that works and a warranty period that makes sense for the amount of money I have spent on the product.

When I refer to letter, I mean email or eletter, whatever you wish to call it, but a correspondance via email very quickly to a global high-tech technology company. This is the year 2012 after all, I would feel slight disbelief if the only way to raise this complaint would be via a real letter.
If there is no other way, than a letter will have to suffice.

Issue regarding CRM service order status profile

Some system statuses cannot be set manually, but can only be set internally by the system. This is the case for status Contains Errors.
Technical Note
The maintainability of the system status is specified by SAP in the system table CRMC_STATUS_PROC. Every change to this table is a modification - SAP cannot take over maintenance for errors that result from changes made to this system table
we have defined a new status profile for service order which consists of

1) How to publish service from non-SAP systems?
Publish Service is nothing but making WSDL of that service available. For that you need to Publish the WSDL of the web Service to UDDI. For Non SAP system, Lik .net , Java they have there oun APIs to do so. U can search on net to get it.

Once you discover the services, you get the WSDL of that Service. Then You can import this WSDL in IR and you it.

Regarding Active Service in tcode SICF for ESS mSS configuration in SAP HR

Dear Experts,
To active the services for ESS and MSS .I have used the tcode SICF.After That I followed the path SAP---.>BC---->Webdynpro----->SAP.I had right clicked and made the services active.The services are active,but when I click on test services system says"Could not find host or port information".Why i am getting this error and what should I do in order to resolve it.What affect will it have if the services does not get okayed in test services?Please provide me the information as the requirement is urgent.

Hi All,
I have created couple of users in shared services and also i have created a group and provisioned that group with appropriate access.Then i have assigned that users to that group.
Later i have refreshed from security from shared services.
But when i see list of users on that server iam unable to find users.
Any suggestions regarding this issue are most welcome.

I have assigned server access to that group and now iam able to see the user on the user table in EAS.Iam able to log on to the server using Maxl and now the issue is with excel addin when iam trying to log on to the Same box using same id and password iam unale to do that and iam i missing any thing in provisioning.
During provisioning i have selected
1)Server Access.
2)Application manager for the particular application.

Regarding Shared Services and Essbase Access

Hello,
I am curious on few things regarding how Essbase and Shared services are interlinked.
Basically we have created Essbase Filters to limit the User access to specific entities , my concern is if a User is trying to Run a report or retrieve through Smart View and if they don't have access to any one of the list of Filter definitions say if there are X , Y ,Z entities in the Spread sheet for Smart View retrieval or in a report and the user does not have privilege for Z do they still get terminated from the entire Essbase Applications. I encountered similar type of problem with one of the users today.

Thanks for the reply Glenn , yes it should not get disconnected or have any connection issue. But below is what the error we get when using Essbase security filter.

Can somebody clarify the following? I need urgent clarifications/
1. Can Proxy service only be a Web-service, i.e. WSDL dependent?
2. What about Business Services? What are the different ways you can host your Business Service?
3. How does the client connect to Proxy Service generally?Is it using the endpoint URI or the hostname/port info or by some method call?
Finally can somebody share code samples for use cases that use already developed transport providers like TCP, File etc.? I tried to use a file as input to the Proxy Service, but how to specify XSL transformations to the XML data that are in the file, as a stage in the Proxy Service pipeline?

1. No it can be any kind of request: binary, text, xml...
2. ALSB support a lot of different transport/protocols:
EMAIL, FTP, FILE, HTTP, JMS, EJB, TUXEDO. In ALSB 3.0 we will add support for ERPs: SAP, SIEBL ..., MQ native and SFTP
3. It depends on the transport. For example for file, the client drops a file in the file system, for http it opens a http connection to the URL http://host:port/address etc...
4. TCP/Socket transport is provided as a sample transport in ALSB 2.5 and 2.6. You can look in the weblogic92/samples/servicebus folder. You can also write your own transport if you like. There is a public SDK.

Clarification regarding Shared services and essbase security

Sorry for the silly doubt. We have shared services to manage security, essbase v 9
1. to assign calc access for users, do i assign calc scripts under databases in group security and assign users to groups in shared services or do it via access control in shared services?
2. If in shared services i havent given calc access but in eas user belongs to a group with that particular calc script access, which would take precedence?

In shared services, when i click on a particular application under the essbase server under the projects folder, there are cases where there are no users or groups under the 'available users and groups'. Why is this so? groups and users are supposed to be there.
Also, in a different application, i saw one available user. however when i try to provide calc access. its not changing anything. I select the calc script and then click the check mark. however nothing changes. The calc access for the user is specified as none. When i login to excel with the same user id, i can see all the calc scripts available for the user. Where are the details being picked up from.??

Regarding enterprise services in ECC

Hi ,
In reference to whether using standard idocs or standard ES available in ECC box ,in case we are not using CE ( so no composite applications) and only using SAP PI to integrate could someone point out any best practices that are available. The majority of services for example for Order to Cash scenarios like Sales Order create are synchronous in mode. From performance and reprocessing perspective using an asynchronous mode would be preferable - so do we use enterprise services for straight forward scenarios like order creation in ecc from sender legacy application or we use it only when we have business process orchestration in mind for later.

It may be that you just need a delta cache refresh but I would start by checking the SLD configuration.
First strt with SAP Note: 1169869
- I think that you might need to try changing the vendor (sap.com) that's assigned to the Software Component Version.
- If you were seeing the SWCV before it should be installed on your system anyway but you can double check using the steps I've specified here: [Can't find ESA ECC-SE 603 SWCV;
- You might also want to check if the SWC is correctly assigned to the relevant business system/s in the SLD.
