Regarding R12 JAN CPU Patch 7301300.
R12 Jan CPU Note states that:
Note: 738923.1 - Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 11i and 12 Critical Patch Update Note (January 2009)
_1.2.3 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 Patches:_
Oracle recommends customers uptake the Release 12 Critical Patch Update listed below in Table 3, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 Patches. Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 Critical Patch Update patches are cumulative; that is, Critical Patch Update patches include all previous CPU content.
Table 3: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 Patches
Oracle E-Business Suite Release Patch to Apply
Release 12 7301300
Now my question is :
So, does this means all the customers of R12(i,e 12.0.2, 12.0.4, 12.0.6 ) all should apply the same patch 7301300 ? OR this patch is only applicable for 12.0.0 ?
My customer is on 12.0.6 and planning to apply this JAN CPU '09.
Thanks,
Sashi.

Aleem,
All the step given in the Doc...397174.1Why you need to follow the steps in this document?
About adrelink log file it contains same errors for some of the products
In a two node installation i put database on 1st node & all apps services including CM on 2nd node
in this scenario i have to apply patch only on application tier
Is it advisable
What you did is correct (as no APPL_TOP is presented on the database node, so applying the patch on the 2nd node is enough).
shall i put database & Cm on one node & apps services all 2nd nodeI believe it does not matter if you have enough resources on both servers.
can i use here distributed AD & shared appl_top
it will reduce patch timing
which will better performance plz adviseWith the current setup you have (database on one node and application services on other node) you do not need to change it as you will need to apply the application patches just once (on the 2nd node). If you move the CM to the other node, then application patches will be required to run on both nodes.
For reducing patching time, please refer to:

Apply CPU JAN 2012 Patches in R12.1.1
What are the steps in appling CPU JAn 2012 patches in R12.1.1 ?
Regards.Hi;
What are the steps in appling CPU JAn 2012 patches in R12.1.1 ? It depends which CPU patches wanna apply. For some of our client we are just appliying database patches. For some other they also want to some other patches which is for Oracle Fusion Middleware products.
Mainly for ALL patches, You need to check README part of patch. For each patch those steps are different also their prereq and post installation steps.
So you question answer is check readme part for patches
PS:Please dont forget to change thread status to answered if it possible when u belive your thread has been answered, it pretend to lose time of other forums user while they are searching open question which is not answered, thanks for understanding

Hello,
We attempted to apply CPU Patch Jan 08 to our 10.1.0.5 database and the optach hang for a over an hour. So we did a control c and got our of the opatch. Then we rollback the opatch.
After the rollback the databases startup without errors. Now we like to know if the oracle binary is corrupted or not corrupted when we cancelled the opatch. How to check if the Oracle binary is not corrupted? Thank you. There are not a lot of situations where you would end up with a corrupted Oracle binary from patching. Opatch relinks with make, which moves the new binary into place with mv. If opatch rolled back successfully, then you should be back on the original version.
This kind of extended downtime tryng to apply a patch is the reason I developed my method for staging patched Oracle binaries. It requires some work with a CPU patch, but it is not impossible, and it can save you serious sweat if downtime is intrusive at your site.
The method is outlined on page 7 of this document:

Hi,
As per my understanding CPU patches are released every quarter for each version & realease of oracle database.
I am using Oracle 10.2.0.3 on IBM-AIX 5.3 (64 bit).
I checked on below link of metalink.
Patches & Updates -> Oracle Server/Tools -> Latest Patchsets -> Latest Oracle Server/Tools Patchsets -> Then selected oracle database and OS version -> Patch Type selected as Any -> Classification selected as High/Security -> Go
But the above gives me no CPU patch list!!!!
So is it no mandatory that each & every quarted we will get a new CPU patch from oracle? Or am I doing any mistake in selection above?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
oratestHi Srini,
Thanks for your reply.
As per the link doc, the primary support for 10.2 has been ended on July-2010, and the extended support will end on July-2013.
And as you mentioned that CPU patches are released in extended support as well, so as of now I must see CPU patch in metalink for my database release (10.2.0.3). But I can not see any CPU patch for my version, release??
One more thing: As per my understanding CPU patches comes under High/Security patch classification, am I right?
Best Regards,

Cpu jan 2010 patch for windows
Hi All,
can i know the patch number for cpu jan 2010 patch set number for windows.
kkIt depends on your version of Windows (2000,2003,2008, 32bit, 64bit, itanium, etc).
Your best bet is to view the My Oracle Support note for the Jan 2010 CPU (ID 986632.1) to find the correct patch number. -
Oracle cpu patch apr/july/oct/jan
Hi Guys,
Need you advise here.
Do you guys always apply the cpu patch upon released by oracle? Is it a good practise to do so?
Does CPU patch only consist of security fix or also bug fix?
thanksIt is recommended to apply CPU patches as soon as possible. CPU patches only fix security issues, they do not contain other bug fixes.

Hello :
I have successfully upgraded the system to latest patchsets. The database is already on 11g. The only thing which is pending now is the CPU Patches.
I know that the Database and the Application tier CPU patch is cumulative where as the EBS suite patch is not cumulative.
For me to apply the EBS suite CPU's I need to know the current CPU patch applied to it. If I know this then I can probably list all the CPU patches that needs to be applied to the system. Is there any way or query that I can use to get this information.
Please advice any good reference material to carry out this patching. I want to merge all the EBS patches together and then apply it in one shot.

Hi Hussein:
I am planning to apply the CPU patches for my EBS instance. I know that the application server and the Database server patchsets are cumulative. So I can apply the latest CPU.But the EBS patchsets are not cumulative. In order to get the list of all the patches that needs to be applied since April 2006,I need to query AD_APPLIED_PATCHES with the EBS patch numbers since April 2006 right? Is this the right approach.
Regards,
BalaBala,
If your instance release is 11i then you are correct. You need to query AD_APPLIED_PATCHES (I would prefer querying AD_BUGS table) to get the list of applied patches.
In R12, CPU patches are cumulative.
