Regarding RFID Design

We are on way to implement WM(Warehouse management)module from the scratch along with the
RF functionality(Mobile data entry) in one of our ware house....project time line is 4
months to go live and we are at design stage now..
Need your guidance on
1)How do we implement Radio Frequency functionality with SAP CONSOLE??how to start with
from scratch??what all are needed for this??
2)How do we install SAP Console to test different scenarios of WM functionality??
3)***We are intrested in implementaion on Packing process with RF functionality???plz
detailly guide us how to proceed??
4)Does SAP allow Batch Picking by RF scanner??
5) packing -> we would like to know when we need to scan exactly
6) picking -> ldoes RFID support batch picking
7) how do i know
Appreciate your immediate reply...

Hi Arnab,
1) I think you will get the SAP Console preinstalled with the SAP GUI Installation you can find it in Control Panel with the name SAPConsole Administrator. This communicates with SAP using some Telnet server and there are lot of telnet servers available in the market.
Some Useful Information for SAP Console and Telnet Server:
SAP Console –Framework which enables users to execute R/3 transactions from Character based device including RF devices.
SAP Console consists of following three main components
1. SAP Console – Software / Interface component
2. SAP Console Administrator – Defining properties of SAP console
3. SAP Console I/O Engine – I/O engine through which SAP console and User interact
Installation of SAP Console is a part of SAP GUI installation
Telnet server installation on the same machine in which SAP console is installed.
Standard Telnet server are
1.Slnet From Seattle Labs
2.GS_Tnet from Georgia Soft works
But any Telnet Sever application can be used which supports VT220 emulation.
Telnet Client is the Interface which is used to execute transactions. Ex. – RF device
2) It comes preloaded with SAP GUI so need not worry about installation.
3) Yeah Packing process is supported in RF and you can get the couple of transactions related to RF and they start with LM*
For the rest you have transaction codes available like for example LM74, LM47, etc or else best thing is you use LM00 which is the starting transation code for your RF related activities.
Or else search for LM* in TSTC table.
Thanks & Regards,
YJR.

  • Regarding RFID

    Hi All,
I am working in <b>ABAP</b> domain.
I want to know some information about <b>RFID</b>.
    1. What is it's purpose! Where it will be used mainly.
    2. What is your future prospects.
    3. How can i find good step-by-step material on the same.
If anybody having good material can they send them to my Personel mail id.
    My Personel Mail ID : <b>[email protected]</b>
Any inputs in this regard will will be appreciated.
If anybody knows please provide me with the sufficient information.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Prasad.

<b>1.What is it's purpose! Where it will be used mainly.</b>
a)Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a state-of-the-art technology for extensive identification of every type of object. It enables rapid and automatic data acquisition via radio waves. At its most basic level, Radio Frequency Identification ( RFID ) is a wireless link to uniquely identify objects or people.
RFID is a means of capturing data about an object without using a human to read the data.
The object of any RFID system is to carry data in suitable transponders, generally known as tags, and to retrieve data, by machine-readable means, at a suitable time and place to satisfy particular application needs. Data within a tag may provide identification for an item in manufacture, goods in transit, a location, the identity of a vehicle, an animal or individual.
b)RFID is becoming more popular in applications where other identification technologies, such as barcodes, are no longer sufficient (e.g. logistics, material management, industrial automation, services etc.).
<b>POSSIBLE COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS OF THIS SYSTEM</b>
    •     Electronic Article Surveillance(EAS)
    •     logistics
    •     Asset Management
    •     Waste Management
    •     Yard Management
    •     Fare Collection
    •     Animal Identification
    •     Luggage Tracking in Airports
    •     Industrial laundries
    •     Fugitive  Emission Detection
    •       Totes/Conveyor
    •     Vehicle Identification
    •     Automotive Anti-theft
    •     Employee Identification
The list continues. It can be used in man
    <b>Advantages of RFID:</b>
    • Contactless identification (also possible without line of sight)
    • Reads through many materials like cardboard, wood etc.
    • Unlimited reading and writing of the memory
    • Identification takes less than a second
    • Simultaneous reading of various transponders
    • Resistant to harsh environmental conditions, such as extreme temperature, humidity etc.
    • Shape and size of the transponders can be adapted as desired
    • Transponders can be completely integrated into a product
•High security due to copy and password protection or encrypted data communication
    <b>2.Future prospects</b>
The coming RFID tsunami is real and it has two mega-sized supply buyers written all over it: Wal-Mart and the DoD.
Walmart, the worlds largest retailer, and the US Dept of Defense (DOD), are two powerful entities that have launched initiatives to implement RFID in their logistics operations, motivated by their needs to cut costs and streamline their supply chain in their organizations.
In the coming years, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) could have a major impact on any enterprise involved in the production, movement, or sale of physical goods. RFID's unique attributes will enable new applications and radical changes to business practices. RFID technology is a powerful Auto ID solution that can significantly increase efficiency and productivity. Implementing an RFID solution requires a thorough understanding of the capabilities and limitations of this emerging technology.
So the future is absolutely very bright.
SAP’s RFID solution is packaged as a standalone solution package built on top of SAP Web Application Server 6.40, and consists of:
    •     SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure
    •     SAP Event Management
    •     SAP Enterprise Portal
    •     Backend ERP adapters to SAP R/3 4.6C and greater
3.I am also sending you some documents which will help u to understand this technology in a more better way.
I hope I have helped you in some way.As mentioned in the other reply you could also get some useful documents on this forum.

    For this,
    1. First, in the context create an attribute of type Visibility.
    Steps for this:
    Create a context attribue
In properties of the attribute you see the property 'type'.
To the far right of this is a button with three dots, click it, a window pops up.
    Select 'Dictionary Simple Type'.
    Expand 'com.sap.ide.webdynpro.uielementdefinitions'.
    Select 'Visibility'

  • Regarding the design

    Hi gurus,
I am very new to ABAP,Here i have a project scenario where i want to create a transaction system in R/3 using ABAP,and feed DATA .. i dont know how to do this and i know it is not possible to give the code and everything to this but i want to know the overall idea to do this in step by step here is the project scenario
The project is all about designing a security information system for a company...which has to fullfill the following
1.To track the time of an employee enters and leaves the organisation.the granularity in this should be upto various departments.
2.And the employee can bring any number of visitors to the company..and we  should  be able to track the visitor information also..(ie the name ,address and other details)
3.the approval for the visitor is given by the immediate manager of the employee...and we should be able to find the peak time of the visitor visit ..ie the day, month on which the visitor flow is more in the company.
i want to feed  all this information in r/3
    Ie empid,emp name,manager id,department id,department name,time in,time out and date for the employee
    and also
visitor id,visitor name ,visitor address, time in ,timeout and date for that visitor and also the employee through whom he came into the office...
I want to know how these can be done in ABAP..
Please let me know asap and i will assign the maximum points fir the usefull answer.

  • Advice needed regarding Database design practice

OK, here is my situation. I've started working for a company about 6 months ago. I'm a .NET developer with 12+ years of experience. Most of my experience with databases is with SQL Server. Recently I've discovered an design change with our Oracle database that our DBA made that I completely disagree with.
We had a single Event table that holds records that pertain to all HTTP traffic on a network as HTTP Usage Event. There are multiple hardware units called 'Sensors' that monitor the network and report these HTTP events to the database. At some point not long ago, the table was holding just over a million records. Performance was suffering so the DBA decided to make a change to the database to accommodate. The change she made was to create a separate Event table for each sensor. Each sensor has an integer value as a unique identifier, so our database went from having a single Event table to now having Event_100, Event_101, Event_102, etc...
So, we now have over 200 Event tables in our database. Anytime a sensor is added to the system, we need to add another table (actually two as there is a 2nd table that was duplicated in this same fashion).
How do I present this to my boss and to the DBA in a way that I don't embarrass my boss (he approved the change) and without pissing off the DBA? I can't imagine that the table couldn't have been optimized as it was to take care of the issues with performance without so dramatic a change.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Edited by: jreddy on Dec 15, 2010 6:51 AM

There is a job to purge old data. Events are kept for 3 months. These jobs were actually part of the problem, as well as removing sensors from the system. In either of these cases, the deletion of the data (more so with the removal of a Sensor i.e. DELETE FROM EVENT WHERE SENSORID = X, was taking too long).
I'm surprised that there have been people agreeing to this design. So, now we have 208 sensors, so 208 Event tables and another table named DATA_HASH duplicated 208 times. There may be a time when our database will be handling data from over 1,000 sensor units. Maybe even double that. Can anyone argue that having 2,000 event tables is the way to go? What if we need to add a new field to the table? Do that 2000 times?
I've been looking at bit more at the data today. I found some event tables haven't got any data (0 rows) while others range in row counts of 2 million up to as much as 30 million? I've talked to SQL DBA's and they all think that Oracle should be able to handle billions of rows in a table.
Also, just out of curiosity, I looked up the max size for a table in Oracle 10. I know the number of rows isn't the determining factor for this, but size of the data. I was astounded to find out the max size for data storage for a single table. 127 TB (yeah, tera bytes). Based on this size, it seems our data could be handled by 1 table, but then maybe I'm wrong.

  • Several questions in regards to Designer...

Q1. Whenever I try to open up a Server Model Diagram in Design Editor, it stalls for over 5 minutes before opening. I've expanded the tablespaces but I'm still having that speed problem. What else can I do?
Q2. How do I build a parent/child relationship in Designer?
Q3. Why do I get duplicate relationships when I transform my entities into tables and why is it that when I go back into my ERD, there are missing relationships?
Any rapid assistance in these matters is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

    I appreciate the helpful responses!
I was told by one of the employees at the Apple store I called, that I wouldn't need to remove the sim and just simply delete my 3G account Information. Then on my new iPad, set It up/log In with the same Information I had on the previous one and I would still retain my account. I wouldn't have any problems restoring the iPad with the sim Inside the device as well.
I don't see a way to actually delete the Information since you would have to log In to your account beforehand. Would I need to log In and delete all the account Information or just simply complete a backup and restore the device?

  • Regarding which design pattern to use for this scenario???

    hi guys
I am working on a J2EE application where I need to do translations for 3 different scenarios. It is basically a conversion from service order objects to invoices.
First from a service order object to an invoice.
Second a conversion from a transaction table.
Third a conversion from a remote system.
Finally the product is an invoice..
What design pattern can i use ....is strategy pattern a good idea??

  • Hi I need help regarding web design

Hi all I am currently studying A Level ICT and for our coursework we have to produce a website using Adobe GoLive. I have encountered a problem as I am manufacturing an online sports shop and instead of having portal pages I was considering have a dropdown tab (not sure what they are called) appear once you hover over a button. Below are some examples of this

I have asked my teacher for help but she won't help me because to be honest I dont think she knows herself. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me because I am new to the software and am clueless. If you can help please comment here or send me an email to [email protected]
    Thanks Matthew

It may interest you to know that Adobe stopped product development and support for GoLive back on April 28, 2008.  I'm flummoxed as to why you are being taught to use obsolete software.  You should be working with modern web developer's tools, not an outdated product that will never again see the day of light.
Dreamweaver CS5 generates web standards code for 2011. GoLive does not. If interested, Dreamweaver has an Academic Rate for students and teachers.  Please pass along this info to your teacher.

All that said, the menus in your examples are called Mega Drop-Menus and they are based on an open source JavaScript library called jQuery.  If you can work with HTML and CSS source code,  you can implement Mega Menus into your pages fairly easily.   See link below for Demo and Code Tutorial:

  • Regarding configuring design console in local machine

    Hi all
    Please help me in this.
i need to configure IDM design console in my localmachine(windows XP) where IDM sever is installed on Aix Machine which is there in client place.
what i need to do now.
weather i need to copy only design console folder from client server to my desktop and configure or elase?
please help me out in this and give me steps how to configure.
    Thanks to all
    Prasad
    7799345966

If you are on OIM9.x you can just copy/paste the design console directory from aix to windows and then change the xlclient.cmd and the classpath.bat etc to point to the correct local directories of the windows system. Addtionally you will have to modify the xlconfig.xml to point to the client's OIM. As a workaround, you can just use the same version installer in local and walk through the wizard.
If you are on OIM11g then you need to install WLS and IAM and then configure IAM and select just the design console check box and complete the wizard by providing rest of the details.

  • Suggestions regarding corej2ee design patterns

    hi all
i wanted to go through the core j2ee design pattern but i don't know which one to refer and what to
so i need suggestions that what to read in a design pattern
and which is the best book or pdf if possible send me the link too

Core J2EE patterns are not what they were. A lot of them would be considered anti-patterns, work arounds for deficiencies in the EJB 1.0 and 2.0 specs that have been addressed in EJB 3.0.
The "Core J2EE Patterns" (Amazon.com search will find it) sounds like what you want.

  • Question regarding Wireless design

    Hi,
I am planning for a wireless design for a new site and would like to understand the following
    1. Should I go with the Access Point (AP) that support 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz or both
    2. What is the average coverage area in meters or feet for both the frequencies
    3. If the overall area is 2000 Sq. feet with few walls in between, how many access points will be required approximately
    4. What is the leading practice on the number of users per AP
    5. What are the circumstances when a Wireless controller need to be deployed. Is it purely based upon the number of AP's to manage?
    6. Should there be a separate DHCP scope for each AP? If not, how to AP's communicate with each other if there is no controller deployed?
Your time for answering these will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Manoj,
Here is my responses to your qurey.
    1. Should I go with the Access Point (AP) that support 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz or both
    BOTH
    2. What is the average coverage area in meters or feet for both the frequencies
These days coverage is not the primary criteria, its capacity. Roughly you need to put a AP for each 20-25 devices for normal data usage.
    3. If the overall area is 2000 Sq. feet with few walls in between, how many access points will be required approximately
Based on the number of devices expected in each area you can determine that. If you do a survey do it in 5GHz which is lower cell size.
    4. What is the leading practice on the number of users per AP
If it is typical data usage (email, browsing, etc) then 20-25 users per AP. If you require Video/voice then this number comes down to around 10.
    5. What are the circumstances when a Wireless controller need to be deployed. Is it purely based upon the number of AP's to manage?
Always go for a Controller managed solutions. It is very hard to control RF environment if you go to manage then individually.(like autonomous AP)
    6. Should there be a separate DHCP scope for each AP? If not, how to AP's communicate with each other if there is no controller deployed?
No, you can have single DHCP scope for AP. As long as AP & WLC have layer 3 reachability it will comunicate with each other using CAPWAP protocol.
