Registering Report Writer in Portal 10g

Portal 10g AS software is fairly new and not a lot of books are available for it.
I am looking for a guide or proper steps to registering the Oracle Report Server with Portal 10g.
I have looked at this doc: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B14048_01/pbr_portal.htm#i1007990
and the value for "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for RDF reports" provided in the doc does not seem to work. Thanks for assistance.

Please tell me if the 10g DB has a Report Writer?
I'm just getting my feet wet & I cannot find this info (probably because it obvious to most) and need to know if we can go forward using the 10g DB?

Thank you for your response, but I seem to be missing a few pieces.
I guess that is 'report writer', lower case as I am not familiar with the app of 10 years ago.
But I am confused by your reference to a Suite, I am using the free 10g - starter/hobbyist/small business version. - Is that considered the 'Developer's Suite'?
To clarify my question: I need to know if this gift from Oracle will satisfy my client's needs. - Will it generate a report?

Report Writer (GR55 Txn) reports via Web Dynpro

Hello,
Has anybody been able to run Report writer reports but render the output in a webdypro?
Basically I am looking for a way to run the report but capture the data output and render it on the Web.

We want to use the portal to publish the reports too but NOT in SAPGUI on the web.
We were actually able to get it to work with an SAPGUI iView or "SAPGUI HTML" iView.
However we want to capture the output of the report writer reports and render them in ABAP or JAVA webdynpro technology.
Our Top Management does not like anything that resembles SAPGUI.
How did you all do it?

GR55-Report Writer output

Hello Experts,
I have a requirement to get the output from Report writer (GR55) and send it as an XML attchment in a mail to receipient.
I have used the SUBMIT statement to access the GR55 in my Custom coding. I could find an option in GR55 to export the output in HTML format to SAP Memory. I am accessing this memory to read the output and send it as mail.
But my requirement is to send this output as XML attached. Can you please suggest me the possibilities of achieving this?

I have tried the method illustrated by the Form 10g Demo. However, when I select the Import Java Classes from the pull down menu, I have got the following error:

Copy Paste of Report Writer iViews "Change description"

Hi. I have mad a copy paste of some report writer iViews. Even though I change the Description and name of the copied iView (in the Property Category info area)it still keeps the original description in the Portal catalog. How can this be changed?

IMPORT PORTAL 10G R2

I want to export my portal (generate with Oracle Portal 10g R2) to another Server, i create it from properties of the Page Gruop, but i don't know where is it? (physically) and how to import it to a new middle tier.

Oracle states that "With the move to OracleAS Portal Release 2, and the introduction of OracleAS Web Cache into the portal architecture, the information in these tables became inaccurate. Therefore, all the pre-built reporting and charting portlets were removed from Portal." which is a major disappointment when they offer no drop-in... What are lot transaction register report source tables and views?

I have a request to create a custome report duplicating all the fields in the standard "lot transaction register" report in EBS 12.1.1. How can I find all the tables and views used in this report or any standard report for that matter?

You can either download the report from the server and open it using Reports Builder 10g on your client and get the code. Or, enable trace and generate the tkprof file for this concurrent program and get the object names.

Perfomance Report Writer iView EP6.0 SP11

Hi Guys.
The Performance of our Report Writer iViews (e.g. one called "Cost element report by Project") are running very slow. When e.g. this report is displayed in the portal it takes approximate 35 sec. when the user presses the next page button in the report writer iView.
Do anyone have similar experiance's and suggestions to performance improvement of Report Writer iViews?

You have to write an application in that u have to use the follwing code
Step 1:
import the Files like

Step 2:
Create a table at DB with the fields like userid Time and required filelds...
Step 3 :
Deploy your application and create a iview from PAR
then create a invisible iview or attach the iview at the end of the page and attach this in every user role
when the user logged in auto matically his ID will stored in the DB..
Try to attch this iview in visible mode into System Admin role ..see the Number of users logged in
But u have to write a efficient application for this

Discoverer Report opened from Portal does not show correct data

Hi,
When I try to open a Discoverer report from a portal that I created, it shows stale data but when I click on "Analyze", it shows all the data correctly.
Does anyone know what the reason could be for this?

I assume you used the Discoverer Portlet Provider. A discoverer portlet is never live data. When you define the portlet you specify how often to 'refresh' the data. If you skipped this step, then you just get the data as-of when you created the portlet.
Generally you specify the refresh time to be sometime after your usual database load completes.

Hi,
while there is always a new requirement, one needs to discuss with the functional consultants and find out which tables are being used which may fulfill the scenario. We also need to identify the list of characteristic and Keyfigues the client wants to analyze.
Also SAP Help is a good source to find more of a standard stream lined objects. Need to analyze if standard objects satisfy the requirement or customization is required.
Please perform the steps as Rama has suggested...

Purchase Register Report

Hi Friends,
I need to develop the Purchase Register Report with Vendor details, TIN number, Invoice details, E1 purchases with purchase base value and VAT and CST percentages. But Iam new to the Purchase module. I know the basic tables for purchasing. but can anybody guide me the tables for TIN number with VAT and CST percentages and how to proceed?

I don't know the fields but a few pointers that might be helpful:
1) Ask your functional analyst - it's part of their job to provide you with the field location or any guidance on that
2) At least someone should be able to point you where the fields are on the screen. Then you should be able to go the usual route - F1 -> Technical info, etc.
3) Respective functional forum might be a better place for such questions if for some reason p. 1 and 2 above are not feasible.
4) You can always use SQL Trace (ST05) to find where the information is being read from or written to. Start the trace, run the transaction, stop the trace and analyze the list. Voila - no need to ask anyone ever again.

Purchase Register Report issue

I am working Purchase Register report.
In this, we have a PO with 10 Quantity. But at the time of MIGO we receive 5 qty out of 10.
Now how can we pick the amount according to 5 qty received from MIGO because we want show MIGO condition in our report not from PO.
What should be the table link for this...

As per ur reference: -
In PO, Condition are like--- PO Qty is 10
Basic Amount..........1000
taxes.........................100
Freight.........................50
Other...........................20
and we have receive only 5 qty out of them, means all the condition amount will be 50%. like...
Basic Amount..........500
taxes.........................50
Freight.......................25
Other.........................10
all condition will be calculate according to qty 5 not for 10 as showing in PO..
I want to pick these condition. (according to 5 qty.)..
Now suggest...
