I have not been able to find the information about the valid number of copies I can make of my Adobe software. I also need information about whether I can uninstall from a Windows OS that's gone quirky on me, restage the laptop and then reinstall to the same or, if needed, a new hard drive.
I have Adobe Elements 12 and Adobe Premiere Elements 12.

You are allowed to have PSE installed and activated on two computers at once. It's best to deactivate PSE on the laptop you want to reformat (Editor>Help>sign out) in case you do need to replace the drive. Activation is tied to hardware, so if you reinstalled on the same drive you should be fine, but if you replace the drive that would be seen by PSE as another computer.

Hello everybody, Im trying to update my ITunes on my MAC (laptop) to the newer version so I can then be able to update the latest updates for my Iphone-3G. I don’t require a complete reinstall just need to be able to update my itunes.
What I have tried so far is I had my MAC search for update’s and it said that I should update to (ITunes version 10 . 6 . 3 ) So I asked it to do the update but after 2hrs of waiting for it to download/update it then puts up a message saying the following- (In order to continue installation, please close the following application: ITunes).
When I tried to do this another message comes up that says- (The update ITunes can’t be installed. The following install step failed: run preupgrade script for Apple mobile device support. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
I have also tried to run the update while having closed ITunes before I even start the update but the same problem happens after waiting about 2hrs.
Some one that had the same problem said this might be happening in the older operating systems. But that does not make sense because surely Apple want customers who own a MAC and i-phone to still buy from iTunes.
My MAC is about 4-5years old. I have a i-phone.3G,

Are your sure that wasn't a Verbose boot (Cmd-V) you were trying? That would go on to a regular boot.
Try a PRAM Reset, then try the single user, Cmd-S, at the startup chime. For the PRAM Reset, hold down Option - Cmd - P - R all together until it chimes a total of three times, then let go to finish booting.

On those site asking for your name, address, city, email address, this program would put that info where required. All one had to do was type the first letter or number of the info needed. Is this a Firefox program?

The program would enter info for me. I only had to type the first letter or number of the info needed. For example, my first name is OSCAR. So, to enter this info in the box marked "First name", I only had to type in the box the letter "O". The program would then type OSCAR. I would then click on the name "OSCAR" and the name OSCAR would be entered in the box asking for my first name. Same with "city", "zip code", "last name", "email address", etc. Is this a Firefox feature??

I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If your iPad isn't responding or doesn't appear to be charging, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful, in particular the following portion:

"Account Info Needed" and Calendar entries disappear

This is a side problem in conjunction with the perpetual "Install Update" problem (see here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Link/10-1-0-4181-won-t-stop-trying-to-load-and-now...
The BBQ10 device stops connecting to my desktop Outlook (calendar, contacts, tasks)
Symptoms:
Calendar entries disappear after a simple screen refresh.
"Account Info Needed" keeps repeating.
When updating the Account, this error appears: "There was an unexpected error and the operation was canceled"
The only way to temporarily fix this is to delete my account on the device and recreate it. I've done that three times just today. The data comes back fine then disappears again.
Any tricks on making the account stay put?

It's been 24 hours with neither of these 2 symptoms occuring. What did I do? I deselected the "Turn on wireless connections to my computer".
Wth the bluetooth still enabled, my PC connects to the device as a storage device (which is all I really need for data/file transfer anyway). The Calendar entries are perfect - back and forth.
I'd be interested in hearing from others if this helped them.
(NOTE: the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD still happens when the device is connected to the PC for any time longer than the backup or sync. That's an altogether different issue.)

I just won the g4 -it's a 400mhz processor, and I was wondering what it would entail to upgrade it. How much will it cost, how difficult is it, and can I do it myself?? Also, how does the 512 mb of ram work on that computer? Should I upgrade, or does it seem to do ok how it is?? Any suggestions?

Welcome to Apple Discussions. Is this your first Mac? Many useful replies so far. Read each one again; and maybe again. As Thomas says, take you time, run it a few weeks first. Muck about these Discussions and use search terms, like 'graphics upgrades', 'video upgrades', 'memory upgrades', etc etc. Or just read every post in this area (Expanding your..G4). Click on the Apple>About This Mac>more info ... you'll see exactyly what you have.
It's nearly unanimous here that memory is the first upgrade one should do. It's also nearly unanimous that we don't buy memory off ebay. Search the posts for several recommendations on vendors. One search that's a minimal starting point is, 'Costa'. You'll read/learn more than enough about RAM. My G4 does great with 768MB. If you want to really keep your costs down, buy one stick of 256MB; or if you can swing it, one stick of 512MB. Open the computer and look at the stick you have. If possible, but not required, buy the same type (e.g. same CASS latency).
As also stated, one can spend enough to have what one thinks is a G5. But it wont' be a G5. You can CAREFULLY look for a 700mhz CPU for instance on ebay. Same for maybe a GeForce FX5200 graphics card (I did both and I'm very happy with it 6mos later; and I only did that because I wanted to run XPlane; for a total of about $150). You can get bigger/better CPU's and graphics cards but it depends on what you want to spend. So, unless you want to do gaming, think about sticking with what you have for your processor and graphics cards. As stated, most any brand monitor will work; watch for specials at retail stores.
Back to basics. We may or may not be able to get full funtionality out of Leopard with out older Macs. But you'll have to have an Install disk, at the least to run Disk Utilities periodically or OS reinstall very infrequently. IF you're gonna keep the G4, get a Tiger DVD. The DVD is not machine-specific as far as I know (someone correct me if I'm wrong please). You can also get an OS9 disk fairly cheaply, but it should be universal, not Emac for instance. If you value all those 'free' apps that you're getting, you need another HDD on which to backup those apps. There's a free utility called Carbon Copy Cloner which will copy everything to the new drive. (If you sell the G4 you can keep the HDD.) Those apps might need reinstalling in the future and you don't have installer discs for them. New DVD RW-type drives are fairly inexpensive but your DVD ROM/CD-RW should suffice.
You G4 is fairly easy to get inside and do upgrades. Get a wrist ground strap from Radio Shack and use it when delving inside the machine.
Seldom mentioned are a couple books you can buy (Amazon): 'Mac OS X The Missing Manual' (Tiger edition), 'Using Mac OS X Tiger', something like 'Mac Bible' (I forget the actual title).
Summary: use the machine a few weeks; read a lot of posts; get an OS Installer DVD; add RAM; maybe buy a book; another HDD; later you can think about other upgrades.

Ok so my app store app has 23 at the top which means to update my apps but when i press update and type in my pass word it starts to update but then this message poped up saying " we have a problem with your billing info." so i press continue and i type in the billing info and then it says to contact itunes support for this transaction and so when i call the guy on itunes support he answered and he told me to get online so i did and now i dont know what to do..? all i need is to updat my apps and it wont let me ! I would suggest contacting itunes support as it tells you to do.

BROKE IPHONE - HOW TO RETRIEVE INFO NEEDED ASAP

I am hoping that someone can PLEASE help me with two things. My IPhone 4 fell into water today and is not working. It is currently sitting in rice. Ok, so here is where I need HELP, keeping in mind that I have only ever plugged my phone into my computer once for updates, but when I did, I am pretty sure that I activated Cloud. Cloud IS or shall I say WAS on my phone, and I am 96% sure that it was turned on. But I am not even sure what ICloud supports backup for.
1. I have a yahoo calendar that I am trying to access from my pc, however no recent changes or additions are showing up on yahoo. I am POSITIVE that when these appointments were entered that they were put under this e-mail account, because each time, I manually access it and file it in the appropriate color coded section according to what it is. I can not find any way to sync the calendars from my pc without the use of my IPhone.
Now, here is an option...my husband's IPhone does have access to the same calendar, however, it has not updated in quite some time, and he has no idea why. I am going to try to delete the account on his phone and hopefully I can access it that way, so I can at least see what appointment that I have this week. I am so lost.
2. I have my own seperate ITunes account with my own user name and password. I use my user name and password everytime that I install or update Apps. Again, I have pretty much no experience with ITunes...my husband set everthing up for me. I thought that maybe going into my Itunes might show me something...anything that I lost from my phone. Maybe how to access iCloud? When I access ITunes from my computer, it originally showed up with all of my husbands information, so I signed him out and signed in with the user name and password that I use on my phone. It is showing that I am logged in and has all of my contact info, but it is still showing my husbands info...his songs...his apps. I don't even have songs on my IPhone. Why is this happening?
I would be soooooo appreciated to anyone that can help me with all of these issues...I think I may cry.

Hi! I just wanted to touch base and let you know that after 24 hours in rice in from of an electric heater it is working again and so far shows no signs of problems.
I really don't have a clear undertanding of ICloud or how any of my information is backed up on my phone and want to try to ensure if something happens again that I know I am protected.
Also, I was wondering if you can suggest what the best calendar to use is. I was using Yahoo and I have everything on my phone but when I go online nothing is there. So it is not syncing. I email yahoo and they went round and round with me and never answered me as to why and just sent me back to their stupid help page.
The reason I liked it was b/c I was able to color code the different calendars I had set up. I had one for my daughters appts, one for mine, one for my husbands appts...you get the point.
Can you make any suggestions as to what is the best to use...something that gets backed up on the iphone and through the service. I would also like to be able to sync it with my daughters and husbands phones too.
Lastly, I was wondering what is the best search engine to use on the iphone so that my bookmarks are being backed up too bc ICloud was not showing that either.
I hope all of that made sense. Thanks so much for your help! Please don't rush to get back to me...I am so busy right now that I don't even know what I am going to have time to mess with the stupid phone.

Need to do a clean reinstall, but need to keep applications and documents

I know that to do a clean reinstall of 10.6 you must first erase the hard drive using Disk Utility. I want the reinstall to be clear of all old settings, except that I need to carry over my applications and documents. Could I use Migration Assistant to backup just the applications and documents to an external hard disk, reinstall the OS, and then use Migration Assistant again to restore my applications and documents from the external drive? I've never used Migration Assistant.

Why can't you just delete the current settings?
But if you really want to erase everything and reload 99.9% of it, use +Setup Assistant+ after you install OSX on the empty volume. By default, it will transfer your network settings, but you can omit them.
