Remaining garage band loops

I got a new macbook and I do not have all of the garageband loops. How can I download the remaining Garageband loops from apple. i click on a greyed out one and it says it will use software update to download the remaining ones. Software update launches and it doesn't not find anything to download. What can be done about this?

  • Garage Band Loops are all greyed out,

There are no drum loops at all on my garage band. They are all "greyed" out. This is a new mac and came with leopard which I installed myself. Could it be that the install didn't go correctly and needs to be redone or is this something additional I have to purchase?

Does this article contain anything useful?

  • No Garage Band Loops are installing

Hope you guys can help me. I have installed iLife and have been attempting to use Garageband. Certain looping elements seem to work - but the Drum, Piano, Bass and Guitar loops do not seem to install. I have done multiple reinstalls and the Loops just don’t seem to be there. I DO have all of the single note samples of instruments, Sounds and Jingles and Garageband Demos.
I have read the previous posts about deleting the Apple Loops Index and then dropping the folders of the loops into the browser – but I think my problem is different: I have gone through the video tutorials and noted the names of some of the drum and bass loops that they used and then I’ve done a search in my computer for those loops after installing iLife. Names like 70’s Ballad Piano, 80’s Pop Beat and 80’s Dance Bass do not exist. I have done a search for AIF files and there are 3185 AIF files in my computer.
As I was about to try yet another installation, I decided to try installing just the Garageband element of the software rather than doing an easy install. While I was in the custom install portion of the software there are multiple checkboxes for the various elements of ilife. There are three portions: Garageband and two subfolders under Garageband named Garageband Instruments and Garageband Loops – which are grayed out. These cannot be checked and it would appear that the only elements that CAN be installed out of Garageband are Sounds and Jingles and Garage band Demos. This makes no since. Garageband opens and it plays back instrument samples and demos. It appears that it has total functionality with the exception of the Apple loops with are not even installing.
    HELP!!!

    EDIT: Nevermind

  • Garage Band Loops are missing.

I went to the Apple store to have iLife 09 installed onto my computer, but when I opened up Garage Band, almost all of the loops were missing. How do I go about getting them back?

they are greyed out, and when i click on them, it says install the update. but when i did that, there was no update to be had. plus, this is the 09 version, where as my re-install disc is the 08 version.

  • Garage Band Loops

I downloaded Garageband loops twice into Garageband, so now I have 2 of every kind of loop... How am I able to delete all those loop tracks that I have duplicates of?

    • Quit GB.
    • Delete the loops folders that you don't want.
    • Delete all Loops Index files.
    • Start GB, it'll warn you that it has no loops.
    • Drag the loop folder(s) that you still want into the Loop Browser window.
    • Done.

  • Garage Band Loops won't import Jam Pack

Jam Pack automatically downloaded to Applications on my HD. I can't find a way to relocate it in the Loops section of GB2, making it inefficient and inconvenient to audition over 2000 loops. Any ideas out there?

I used wrong term "import". I "installed" it in my disk drive.

  • Garage Band LOOPS question

    Hi,
I guess this question can apply to both Logic and GarageBand. When using loops am I locked into the "key" that they appear in? What I mean is this. Let's say I make a song in Amajor in 4/4 time. At that point all my loops appear in the key of A. The problem arises when I want to take the chord progression maybe from I - IV - vi - V - I or something. My question is... can I make those same loops play the appropriate chord for the key signature?
    I hope this makes sense.
Thank you for any help you can offer.
    B.

..I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. But..All the apple loops I've encountered have a series of different notes in one key. You can transpose them, but then not all of the notes in that loop will sound good with the original key. Does that make sense? For example...if you have a loop in A, then play the loop again in D (the IV of A)..it's likely it will contain G natural...a note that occurs in the key of D, but would sound bad in A.
On top of that..most apple loops are simply melodies. I would recommend layering one of them on top of a bass or piano or synth you'd recorded that would play the chords you want in your song.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • No Garage Band Loops are installing  SOLVED!!!!

I just wanted to thank nhmacusr for his very helpful answer to an old question as well as my recent post. I had done multiple installs and was still missing a substantial amount of basic instrument loops. His...or her (?!) recommendation were as follows:
GarageBand generally stores loops in two locations...
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops
    and
    /Users/<username>/Audio/Apple Loops
What I would do is this....
Delete all of your GarageBand files in Applications. Then go to
    /Library/Receipts
Delete anything that has GarageBand in it.
    Go to /Library/Audio/Apple Loop Index
Delete all of the files in there.
Go to /Users/<Username>/Library/Audio/Apple Loop Index and delete anything in there.
Reinstall GB from the iLife disk. That should give you a fresh install.
This TOTALLY worked. I think what happens is that after the initial install, Garageband assumes that you have all of the loops and then passes right over that part of the installation if you do subsequent installs. This would explain why people upgrading from version 2 to version 3 had some of the same issues that I did. I was getting really frustrated and the above advice really helped me.
    Thanks!

  • How do you make a garage band loop longer

I am making a small promotional video and I'd like the loop to last two and a half minutes , the one i want to use is only 1 mnute 56 . how can i make it longer . ?
      Thank you .

I assume you are talking about a jingle and not a loop - because you could just loop the loop to make it longer.
To lengthen the loop, there's musical ways to achieve that: find certain passages that you can repeat and puzzle them together, that'll keep the tempo of the music. If you can't or don't want to do that, you can stretch the loop to any desired length:
    - Set your LED window to show seconds instead of musical measures.
    - Double-click the jingle to open the Editor window.
    - Check the "follow tempo and pitch" box, the program will go through some analyzing.
    - Change the LED window do display the project parameters and play with the tempo slider. You will see that the region will get longer or shorter on the time axis (or the time axis contracts and extends), and you can set it so the piece fits the length of your video. (It's not continuous since the tempo goes in increments.)
However, in your case the music would become 25% slower. That might sound okay, but could also totally damage the feel of the song.

  • Garage Band is recognizing ".aif" format loops but not ".aiff" format loops

All of the ".aif"-formatted loops (from Jam Packs, etc.) are showing up fine in the Loop Browser, but other loops I bought from third-party vendors that are in the ".aiff" format are not showing up at all in the loop browser. They are all in the same correct folder for loops on my system along with the working Jam Pack loops. I tried dragging and dropping a bunch of these loops onto the blank space on an open session based on some advice I read on the internet, and Garage Band processed them (and created new instrument tracks on the screen for each loop) but they did not subsequently show up in the loop browser as I had hoped. Do I need to reformat these to ".aif" somehow? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Just to follow up, draggging the loop folders into the loop browser didn't work exactly on its own, but I got it to work in the following manner. First I went to the finder and deleted the apple loop indexes in each of the two locations where apple loops are stored in my computer (note to Apple: why multiple different folders for Apple Loops?). Then I dragged all of the Apple Loops that were stored in the second loops folder (in the Library under "Audio") to the first Apple Loops folder. Then I dragged both entire Apple Loops folders (required even though the second one was now empty) into the loop browser. Upon dragging the second one in, Garage Band automatically began reindexing my loops and then everything showed up in the loop browser correctly, finally. Apparently both (or all) locations where Garage Band stores loops must be individually dragged into the loop browser to trigger the reindexing process. This process was harder than it should be and I feel like it represents an annoying bug in Garage Band, in addition to the help from this post I also had to google research the problem for quite some time to figure out this process.

  • Where can I get additional loops for garage band

I have been limited in the groves in the drum beats and grooves that came with Garage Band 11, I would like to add addional loops.

The best solution for additional GarageBand loops would be to get the JamPacks, i.e. JamPack "Remix Tools" and "Rhythm Section". These will give you plenty of drum beats and grooves.
The Jam Packs have been discontinued, but you get them all, when you buy Mainstage 2 at the AppStore for a moderate fee. Mainstage 2 will install all Jam Packs and additional instruments in the same place where GarageBand  and Logic loops and instruments are installed, so you can use them seemlessly from GarageBand as well. And the price for MainStage 2 with all JamPacks included is as far less than the price for a single JamPack used to be.

  • When I open Garage Band '09 it says" No Apple Loops found; There are no Apple Loops installed on your System. Please reinstall the Apple Loop Package".

I have garage band '09 on my mac.  When I open garage band a little notice pops up saying "No Apple Loops found; There are no Apple Loops installed on your System. Please reinstall the Apple Loop Package"  I have followed the instructions on the apple web page and it didn't work.  I looked in all of the locations on my mac and all of the folders that should contain apple loops are empty.  Is there a way I can redownload the apple loops to my mac without buying garage band '11 or one of the jam packs????????????????

  • Is there a way to record karoke track + vocals in garage band ipad

    Hello
i was wondering if anyone could walk me throught the steps of recording a vocal/karoke track on garage band for ipad, i already have the song on my device
    thanks

if you go to the loops logo at the top, a bunch of beats will show up. at the top of that screen, there should be double button that says apple loops on one side and music on the other side. tap music and choose the song you want. put that song in your track and if you want to record, itll play the song in the background as you record your singing. good luck!
