Remembering SaveAs dialog position on dual-monitor

Hello,
I'm using Acrobat 9 Standard with dual monitor setup.
How can I get Acrobat to remember the last position of the SaveAs dialog on the other monitor after moving it there?
I'm using a script to automate the extraction of each page and saving each as an individual file.
Every time a page is extracted, the SaveAs dialog will obstruct my view of the content, which I need to move to another screen, before I can type in the appropriate filename.
Thanks,
Devin

Can somebody please confirm if you're experiencing the same issue on your dual monitor setup? Thanks.

    Hi!
Is it just me, or is it a bug? I use flash at a dual monitor

  • Snow Leopard does not remember screen position with dual monitor

    Hello,
I have an external monitor, which I like to be on top of my Macbook Pro monitor. In the monitor preference pane, I can set the monitor disposition such that my external monitor (main monitor) appears on top of my laptop (secondary monitor). However, every time I unplug the external monitor, I have to do the settings again, because when I plug it back, it shows as "side-by-side" configuration.
How can I make this setting stick ?
    Thanks

    Try deleting a related plist:

  • Illustrator color picker position on dual monitor mac

    o/
Is there a way to control where the color picker appears in illustrator cs5.5 on mac os lion 10.7.3?
I have a mac pro with a monitor and a cintiq, the monitor is the "active" monitor, it has to be for my use, and the cintiq is the secondary monitor.
I have everything set up now so illustrator "lives" on the cintiq, except for the color picker that insist on popping up in the middle of the normal monitor, and if I move it, next time it does not remember I moved it.
Every other dialog I've come across behaves nicely, and sticks to the cintiq, but the color picker dialog does not.
Hopefully someone out there has an answer, thank you very much for your time!
    Kind regards,
    dukk

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply, however I don't want to swap "main" monitor as that causes all other kinds of issues
I only use the cintiq for illustrator, everything else on the main monitor.
So I'm looking for a way to have those last couple of windows follow every other illustrator dialog, such as save etc to the cintiq.
    Kind regards,
    dukk

  • Cannot default Adobe Reader 9 Screen position on Dual Monitor

We have recently upgrade to Adobe Reader 9.0 and I have 2 monitors on my machine. Can any one advise how can we set adobe reader open on a screen 2. instead of the primary screen. At the moment only open on Primary screen 1.
I look through the preference but cannot find any related setting can be applied. It was working fine on Adobe version 8.0
    Thanks

    A solution for "Video output"
When sending an FCP 5.1.1 HDV sequence to "Motion project", it sends it at 1440 x 1080 and Motion 2.1.1 will open a new project to that size. Once that FCP HDV sequence is opened in Motion 2.1.1 and "Full screen mode" is selected it will play to a full screen in 16 x 9 at 30 fps on the "Main Computer Monitor". In this case the main monitor is a LaCie Electron blue 19". Now if "External video" is selected that being a Sony PVM 1351Q the image will show as a 1440 x 1080 and play at only 5 fps. Furthermore it will create a letterbox on all four sides. (looks like a stretched vertical 4 x 3). Now if a new project is opened in Motion 2.1.1 in HD (1920 x1080) and the same HDV QT file is imported in Motion ; the same procedure repeated, the image will play at a proper size and the 16 x 9 aspect ratio on the secondary NTSC Monitor will be respected, mind you it will still play at only 5 fps.
    "SOLUTION"
By canceling the "Video output" on Motion, a full frame 16 x 9 image can be viewed on the "Main Monitor". By the way, that image is astonishing compared to what it was with the previous video card. Now by dragging the "Viewer image" above the timeline to the "Secondary Monitor (Sony)" and selecting the "Full Screen Mode" it will then give a proper full screen image with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio on the Sony PVM 1351Q at 30 fps. The image seen on the NTSC monitors when using FCP 5.1.1 in HDV has also improved to a great degree. It has improved to the point where the Radeon® 9800 Pro Mac® Edition 256MB AGP becomes an interesting solution for HDV editing in Final Cut Studio.
If somene has a better solution, I'm all ears! ... or all read!

  • Remembering app positions for single/dual monitor setups?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum--I'm not sure if this is Mac OS or application specific.
I'm running Mac OS 10.5.6. When I plug in the external monitor to my MacBook Pro, I setup Firefox and Entourage on my notebook monitor and Photoshop on the external. I also move the Apple menu bar to the external (since PS is my main app I like having the menu bar close by). Photoshop doesn't present a problem because I'm able to switch the layout for different workspaces (laptop alone or laptop and external), but I find that Firefox and Entourage don't remember their positions.
For example, my current setup is dual monitors as mentioned above. When I get home and power up the notebook, I'll launch all the same apps. Firefox is just barely within view hanging off the left side of the screen so I'll grab the window and drag it over so I can access the green button (not sure what this is called). Entourage displays just fine. When I get back to work the next day and plug in the external, Firefox displays on the external with the window sized to fit the notebook monitor) and I'll just drag it over. Entourage loads into the external as maximized and I'll drag it over and click the green button.
Is it possible for the apps to remember their positions depending on whether it's just the notebook or if I've connected an external monitor? Thanks in advance!

Guess it's in the right place now.
Unfortunately, I don't believe there's a way to do what you want.

  • Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?

I open Bridge on monitor 1. I do a new synchronized window and move the new window to monitor 2. Monitor 1 has my normal workspace definition. I modify the Bridge window on monitor 2 to only have a Content/Preview panel. Thus, when I select a thumbnail on monitor 1 it is shown in the Preview panel on monitor 2. Just what I want.
How can I configure Bridge to remember this dual monitor setup? As it is now, I have to reconfigure the dual monitor each time I restart.
    Thanks

    Yes.
    Window > New Synchronized Window
With the new window on top, choose the Window menu, remove all Panels except the Preview window
Move Content panel over so it is no longer visible and only Preview window is visible
(Click on thumbnail on monitor 1 and it is shown in Preview mode in Window 2 -- great, just what I want)
At this point, the Bridge workspace on both monitors is "Mike's Workspace"
I can save the Monitor 2 workspace to Mike's Dual Workspace.
    Close Bridge on Monitor 2
    Close Bridge on Monitor 1
    Restart Bridge
Monitor 1 opens as Mike's Dual Workspace, but it is the same as Mike's Workspace
Change workspace on Monitor 1 to Mike's Workspace - it has the correct configuration.
Window > New Synchronized Window and start the configuration as before.
    Am I missing something?

  • Save Dialogs not keeping position

I know it is only a cosmetic thing but:
    Goto File/Save As
Set your save window to your preferred size (I use 2 columns, full height of the screen and extra column width)
    Save
If you save as again the dialog position is preserved - correct behavior.
Goto File/Adobe PDF Presets and choose one of the settings.
A save dialog appears (this doesn't keep your user position/size)
It also resets the File/Save As dialog.

Anyone else having the same issue?

    Yep. Same here.
Also, I have a coworker, whose name column keeps on shrinking down to about 10 characters wide. No matter what we have tried, it still keeps going back to that.

  • Systemd as user, dual monitor, awesome, popups (long desc inside)?

Okay, this is quite difficult to describe, so please bear with me.
I run systemd as user and awesomewm on a laptop which is normally plugged in to an external monitor for a dual screen. 64-bit Arch, fully updated, running [testing]
I've got my own homebrew script which basically just runs the appropriate xrandr command to enable all the current connected monitors (since AFAIK we still can't make that happen automatically at plugin/out of the VGA cable).
Additionally (may or may not be related), I run unagi for compositing and animated wallpapers using xscreensaver and xwinwrap. unagi is started as a systemd user service (as is awesome itself), as are the animated wallpapers (basically a homebrew service file calling a bash script). Also, I'm using infinality-bundle from bohoomil. None of this (I think) is important.
Now, not sure when this started happening, because I rarely do this, but if I start my laptop up with the external monitor plugged in, it mirrors the display at a fairly low res (I'm assuming 1024x768) which I don't bother about, because I just hit the keybinding for the above-mentioned script and get my full res dual monitor setup.
However, once this happens, any app which pops up, which in my case is synapse (app launcher), gmrun (launcher, run via xbindkeys) and keypassx (when requesting passwords) will always pop up on the primary screen. If launched from the primary screen, it'll turn up right in the center as expected. If launched from the second screen (on the right), it'll turn up on the primary screen, but centered in position w.r.t the second screen (different resolution) and to the right-most edge of the primary screen.
If I start the laptop without an external monitor and add it later on (plug in and then run xrandr) everything works as expected, popups are centered properly.
If I start awesome using gdm (and external monitor plugged in) it doesn't show the mirrored displays and everything works as expected.
Because of the last two statements, I doubt the awesomewm configuration is the problem, but I can't imagine how to proceed debugging this. Any suggestions?
EDIT: And as usual, immediately after worrying at this for a day and then posting this thread, I found something that 'works'. Restarting awesome in this case fixes it, and it remains fixed thereafter (till the next restart).
This raises another question though, I remember awesome would automatically restart with xrandr screen changes before, why isn't it doing so now? Or is it doing so too early perhaps?

  • Elements 11 Preview Window not visible in dual monitor mode

When I go to dual monitor mode the preview window is hidden. I can still hear the audio from the clip but I can't see the video window. It is still hidden when I switch back to single monitor mode. The only way to bring it back is to close out the program and reopen it. Does anyone know where it goes and how to make it visible?

I have just set up for Premiere Elements 11 Dual Monitor Mode in Windows 8 64 bit computer.
How do you have your monitors set up...Extend Across.. or other?
I am not having any problems keeping track of what I believe you are referring to as the "Preview Window". So please excuse
if I double check with you via the following screenshot.
Preview Window which can be brought up
    a. double clicking the file in Project Assets
    b. double clicking the file on the Expert workspace Timeline
I am going to go over this one more time with my Premiere Elements 11 and Windows 8 64 bt computer to see
if I can create the situation that I am interpreting that you have.
    Thanks.

Add On...This especially makes me ask....
When I reopen the program the preview window appears in its normal position.
The Preview Window is going to close when you save/close the project. As you saying that you re-opened the project

  • Open dialog box on second monitor?

    Hi there,
I use CS6 on a system that utilises two monitors. To maximise the amount of screen on Monitor 1 used for viewing my photos, I have arranged the workspace so that my history, actions and other panels are on Monitor 2.
However, whenever I open a window, for example Image->Adjustments, it always opens the window or dialog/settings box on Monitor 1, over the top of the photo that I'm trying to edit. I then have to drag the window across to Monitor 2 manually before making the necessary adjustments.
Upon shutting down the window and then performing another adjustment, the new window doesn't 'remember' that I had last shut it down on Monitor 2, and it opens on Monitor 1 again.
Is there any way of getting CS6 to open these windows and dialog boxes on Monitor 2 by default?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Andrew.

Window/ dialog placement is a feature of your graphics driver, so check the settings there.
