Reminders Notifications

I have moved to Iphone from Android.  Here is my biggest problem and I hope there is a solution.
On Android there was an app called “Calendar Snooze”  I need to find something that will accomplish the same thing on an Iphone.
What the app did was, when a calendar event came up a box appeared (Similar to an Alert if the phone is on) but even if the phone was off when I turned it on the Calendar Snooze box came up and you could NOT proceed with anything on the phone unless you dismissed or snoozed the calendar event.
The key here is it forced you to take action in order to use your phone and proceed!!  I know that things pop up and show in notifications but I have to remember to go check that.  With the calendar snooze I could snooze for 1hour, 5 hours, 8 hours, 1day or 1 week.  Then when that time was up a pop up box came up again that would not let me proceed unless I did another snooze or dismiss.
With this function I never missed anything!  The pop up came up if the phone was on or not and if it came up at a time that I was busy I could just snooze for a period of time that fit when I could get to it.
I guess I used it more like a todo list reminder than and actual calendar of things to do for the day.
The key is, I had to snooze or dismiss to proceed, no way around it,  then it was relentless in making sure I did not miss anything important.
I hope I was clear and hope there is a solution.  FYI I do have Notifications set for my calendar and have sounds on, badge app icon on and show on lock screen on with Alerts set.  Things come up but do not require action to proceed

I've been seeing this for some time now and getting quite sick of it. It happens when I've been away at work for the day and come home to find frozen notifications.
You can fix this temporarily by quitting Notification Centre from Activity Monitor but it keeps happening to me every week or so.

  • Calendar reminders (notifications) still NOT working, even after 602 update.....

So, Verizon Wireless released the 602 update to the Gingerbread OS for the Droid X, and the calendar reminder popups (notifications) are still NOT working properly.
This is VERY frustrating, as I use these notifications (reminder pop ups) for everything from business related (meetings, etc) to personal (when to take medicines, etc).
It's also VERY frustrating because BEFORE Gingerbread, when the Droid X ran Froyo, there was NOT a problem with the calendar and its reminders.
I would assume that there are MANY, MANY people being affected by this issue...and I wonder why Verizon hasn't "put the heat" on Google to FIX this issue which is clearly related to the Android OS, more specifically, Gingerbread.
I used to like the Droid X very much, but now I'm counting the days until I can get an iPhone.  At least you know what you're getting, and won't have an update "break" functions of the phone.
So, Verizon, if you're listening... PLEASE get this calendar notification problem FIXED.
    Thank you!!

I'm the original poster of this topic.  And let me tell you the steps that I went through to try to get this resolved, and then I'll let you know the ultimate solution that I wound up doing and am happy about (but am NOT happy about Verizon & Motorola).
    1) updated DroidX to latest 602 update.
    2) went into admin partition and deleted cache
    still did not work
    3) went into admin partition and did hard reset (complete restore) from inside the admin partition
Still did not get calendar reminders to work.
    4) went into normal phone and accessed "Restore Phone to Factory Specs" from the Privacy menu in settings.  This caused the phone to do a similar hard reset as in step 3, except it also ran the beginning software (welcome to your Droid, we now have to activate your phone, etc).
Calendar reminders did not work. (REMEMBER... when I say they did not work, I mean that the reminders would go off EVENTUALLY , but anywhere from 30mins AFTER the appointment to literally HOURS AFTER the appointment).
    5) Created a COMPLETELY NEW AND DIFFERENT calendar at Google under a DIFFERENT screen name/account.  Configured DroidX to completely forget the original calendar and to start using the NEW one.
Reminders still did NOT work properly.
    6) Once again, tried hard resets.
    NOPE.  Still did NOT work.
    7) CALLED Verizon Wireless and described my problem and they pretty much didn't/couldn't help and said they would "send a report to the engineering team" about the problem.
And HERE is the thing that REALLY BURNED ME UP about this WHOLE ENTIRE DEBACLE.....  my DroidX worked 100% correctly BEFORE the Gingerbread upgrade to the Android OS.  When it was running Froyo (previous OS), every single calendar reminder on my original calendar worked every single time, on time, every time.  BUT... AFTER Gingerbread, it just didn't work.  (Don't get me started with the phantom powering on of the phone after it was powered off problem that STILL exists after the 602 upgrade).
SO.......... what did I eventually do???   Well, by this time, I was eligible for early upgrade at upgrading pricing and switched to the iPhone4 (I didn't want the 4S).  AND YOU KNOW WHAT???  Using the ORIGINAL GOOGLE calendar that I used before all the above stuff happened, my reminders on the iPhone4 work all the time, every time.  These include appointments that I made 8 months ago to new ones that I make every day.  And for all of them, the iPhone4 sets the reminder chime off EXACTLY when I want it to.
Now, I realize that this doesn't address the problem for you, Ganamide (who wrote above), but for me, I finally got to the point where I had missed critical appointments with clients and couldn't wait around for the DroidX Calendar Reminder Problem to be resolved.
So Verizon Wireless and Motorola (maker of DroidX) and Google (maker of Android OS) all have "negative points" in my book for allowing such a problem to continue without proper resolution.   Apple, on the other hand, gets "positive points" in my book for making a product that is rock solid and works well.

  • Annoying reminders' notifications Yosemite

I am so annoyed. I don't like reminders showing notifications in Yosemite on my home screen. I use them for my iPhone to remind me. Turned off notifications for reminders but they keep showing up on my MacBook Pro. It's so annoying. It isn't clear what happens if I just turn on do-not-disturb, except that it goes off at 12midnight so it's worthless for what i need to accomplish. Why can't they just stay on my iPhone and leave my mbpro alone?

    FIXED IT.
    goto sidebar.
    got bottom of sidebar.
    click "edit"
you'll see "notifications" as well as everything else with a next to it.
hmmm. it DOES offer more control than previously... just not more instruction on how to.
    Fixed.

  • IOS8.1 - Problem with "Reminders Notifications"

    Hi,
yesterday I upgraded my iPhone6 to iOS8.1...everything works great but I have discovered one little problem...I'll explaine it:
when I have several notifications (f.e. reminders app notifications) if I mark one of these as completed everyone dissapear inmediatly.
Before the update it worked well (just the notification I mark dissapear)
    Thanks!

Same issue, this is what I typed up in my question
    Example:
I have up a two reminders and a calendar alert. I swipe left on the first reminder and click "Snooze" all my other notices clear and I just see my lock screen wallpaper at full brightness.
I've tested this with different reminders, snoozing, completing and dismissing calendar notices, same behavior across the board. I've rebooted twice since the update and no change.

  • Closing reminders notifications on ipad closes them on my laptop - very bad!

When I'm using my iPad, a reminder notification pops up, making me respond before continuing. But if I close it, it also closes the reminder notification on my laptop. It took me months to figure this out, as I'd often be away from home when using my iPad. Today, I finally was using my iPad and laptop at the same time and saw it happen twice in ten seconds. Close on the iPad --> notification disappears on the laptop. Close it on the iPad --> notification disappears on the laptop. I couldn't understand why dozens of reminder notifications were disappearing. Now it's perfectly clear.
Is there any way to disconnect this function so that I can close on my iPad (I see no quick way to snooze them) without closing them (essentially erasing the notification alert) on my computer? Reminders is the only way I can manage a schedule that would crush many people.
    Thanks ahead of time!

Maybe go into the iCloud settings for your iPad and disable reminders? then it shouldn't update them

  • Ios 7 reminders notification not showing in all

Dont like the new notification centre.
First off on the today screen, if you have a meeting in the evening the day view takes up the whole screen. Turn it off and you lose the evening appt all together. Leave it on and you have to scroll down to see other notifactions 'hidden' at the bottom of the screen. I want the today section to be a splash view of what i have planned for the day. If i have day view on then my reminders are hidden at the bottom of the screen and then i dont remember! - so no point.
Second, i cant get reminders to appear in the 'all' section at all. They just dont, so its hardly 'all'
    Any ideas?
Lastly the overall feel of ios7 is bland.. I thought we were meant to see through the dull gray/white.. the phone call secion is horrid. Also you dont even see the picture of who your calling.. dont like this at all esp if your out and about and dont have your glasses with you! seeing a picture is far easier than reading the name, esp with this font! As for the way the apps are grouped in on the home section, i have actually 'un grouped' all my apps cause that horrid bubble that surrounds them makes the iphone look like it was designed for kids.
I like the control centre but why wasnt this feel carried over to the whole of the ios.
Lastly im an apple fan, love most things they do, have most products, but this ios for me has made some things really nice, but most things look horrid. dissapointed.
    Simon

Thanks, your tip worked for me too.
The remonders now show on the today screen BUT still do not show up in the all or missed section. In fact nothing ever seems to show on theses screens at all.
Also a huge weakness is that if you allow your reminders to show on the locked screen they can also easily be updated. In fact it is difficult not to touch the update circles.

  • I'm wondering if there is a way to make the Reminders Notification "Complete" the task.

As it is, I can snooze the task or I can close the task, but I cannot complete the task.  Is there an option to have this popup on my screen? Or am I stuck with the two default answers?

I think all you can do is to click on the notification so that the reminder gets displayed and then you can complete it from there.

  • Reminders notifications not working on iPhone 4s running ios 8.1.1

    Help!
Suddenly reminder notifications are not working on my iPhone 4s running ios 8.1.1. Have tried restarting phone, turning off notifications and then turning back on again etc to no avail.
Can anyone help or does anyone know an alternative app that might do the trick.
    Thanks in advance.

Had this resolved by a very nice Apple bod. I ended up doing a full factory reset again. It worked this time as there is now ios 8.1.2
    Hope this works for you.......

  • Notification center reminders

I am seriously unimpressed by the ios/ icloud reminders notification center syncing across apple devices. The software does not do what Apple advertise.
    I simply want to set up a reminder on my iphone or ipad for a set date and time;
    I want icloud to automatically sync the reminder across devices so that if I pull down the notification center on either my ipad or iphone the task will be on the screen. It would be useful if the task immediately appeared on the pull down center from when I enter it into either device;
    When I complete the task, I could be ableo to go to notification center and delete it off one device and it should delete off all devices;
If I don't complete the task by the set date and time, it should stay on all devices until I delete it off one device IN THE NOTIFICATION CENTER.
At present, the notification center only shows the item ON THE DAY of the task, and only up to the time of the task. After the set time, the notification center removes the task. I need to go to the reminder app to see if I still have tasks to complete.

I've had some problems with Notifications and Reminders. iphone4 and MacBook running Mountain Lion.
I sent a test from my phone, it shows up in Reminders on my mac, however not in Notificatons on my Mac.
I sent tests back and forth and found that Reminders were not showing up in Notifications on my Mac.
    My solution:
Sign out of iCloud on your Mac, delete everything when prompted. Don't worry, it's all stored in the cloud so you'll get it all back.
Then, delete your account on you iOS device. Turn off your iPhone/iPad.
Then, turn on you iOS device and sign in to iCloud.
Then, sign in to iCloud on you Mac.
    Everything shoud work.
Let me know if this works for anyone?

  • Receiving inappropriate calendar reminders

I'm on a Verizon iPhone 4 running 4.2.6.  In Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, I added a CalDAV account.  The server hosting the calendar runs Zimbra 6.x.  Zimbra has my main calendar, personal calendar, and a movie calendar.  Also in Zimbra via the web client, I linked to other people's calendars, just so I can view their availability.
In the iPhone calendar application, I press the Calendars button in the upper left corner.  I see a list of all calendars I can choose to display, including my iPhone calendar, my Gmail calendar, birthdays, my main, personal, and Movie Night Zimbra calendars as well as calendars of all other people that I linked to in Zimbra.  I only have check marks next to the 5 calendars that I care about (Gmail, Zimbra main, Zimbra personal, Zimbra Movie Night, and birthdays).
When I look on the iPhone at my calendar in list view, it says "5 Calendars" at the top, and I do see entries of all of the checked calendars as expected.  Over time, additional calendars that I don't care about seem to auto-checkmark themselves and begin to appear on my list, and it says "6 Calendars" or "7 Calendars" at the top.  I then have to go and uncheckmark them.  At first, I thought I might have accidentally checked additional calendars, so I made sure to stay off of the Calendars screen.  Calendars still seem to get auto-checkmarked, although there are two people in particular it seems to favor.
I also receive calendar reminders/notifications for my calendar events, which is expected, but I also get them for other people's events too.  I figure if I don't have a checkmark next to a calendar, I shouldn't be reminded of any of those events.
I deleted the whole CalDAV account and tried setting things up again, however, I get the exact same strangeness.  Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?  Calendar reminders are useless to me now, since I get so many of them that I don't care about.  I've also had to silence the reminders.

Hello Alec123456 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're having issues with your Calendar notifications.
In Settings>About>OS , what is your software version?
In the Calendar, swipe down from the top bezel and select Options. Under General, what's the current setting for Meeting Reminder under Meeting Settings displaying?

  • How to stop notifications of events from shared calendars

So someone i work with has shared their calendar. I keep getting pop up notifications on my iphone every time an event on her calendar starts.  I am not that involved with her calendar but need access to help at times, but i just do not want a bazillion event notifications every day.
I have checked settings on both ends, and in my 'Reminders & Notifications' settings within google calendar settings, not one single item is selected.  Also within the phone settings, 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' the bottom sellection "shard calendar alerts" is turned off.
I called Apple Venture and they couldnt solve it.  this is getting so frustrating......  any clues out there?

I'm having the same issues, Calendar is all acting up weird.
I have multiple calendars  -including imported Google calendars- in Calendar on OSX 10.8.3, and it sends event-alerts from an imported calendar that i have only READ access to, back to the owner that calendar, using MY private email adress as the sender. That is embarrasing, i have to stop using Calendar untill this is solved.
In Google calendar i have no sharing or reminders activated at all.
If anybody knows of a good alternative - preferably free - please share.

  • How to get out of pause until date if target is achieved?

    Hi,
We are developing a SharePoint Designer 2013 platform workflow on Office 365 SharePoint Online. Following is what we are trying to achieve:
    Document Library workflow.
There are 3 users involved e.g. UserA, UserB and UserC.
There are 2 content types e.g. Notification Letter and Statement Method.
As soon as UserA uploads/adds a document the workflow kicks-off.
An email is sent to UserB where he verifies it and select a dropdown verification complete.
This workflow also kicks-off on item change hence it creates a task process and assign UserC a task.
If UserC rejects the task, the email is sent to UserB and he has to resubmit.
However if UserC approves it then it goes to the approval folder.
In the above process we need to have reminders/notifications to UserC. There are 3 reminders. As soon as the document is added the document should be sent to the approval folder within 30 days (cut off) from the item creation date. First reminder 7
days before the cut off date. Second reminder 2 days before the cut off date. Finally the last reminder on the cut off date itself.
If I set Pause Until Duration event then the workflow as expected doesn't do anything till the date. How to break the Pause Until Duration if the UserC approves the task within the date range before cut off date.
I was thinking of loop but couldn't figure out how to achieve it in a better way.
    Thank you

Here the user break the pause duration using code. if you don't want to code means just split the workflow into two
    One for managing approval
    One for managing Email
So that the pause state in email workflow will not affect the approval workflow.
Also in Email workflow we have check the approval and moved status so it will not send the remainder mail to approved request

  • Vacation Period settings in bpm workspace

    Hi,
I have enable vacation period for one user but still instacnes are being assigned to user and even vacation rule also is not working as expected. Please send me some documentation or sample which talks about vacation period configuration in oracle bpm 11g.
    Thanks

    Hi
I don't have solution for your problem, but I can make it worst (sorry :)).
We are using the latest SOA/BPM 11.5 + FP (Feature Pack) applied. When we apply the holiday calender rules to send task expirations, reminders, notifications, we want to EXCLUDE weekends like Saturdays, Sundays and some standard dates for US Holidays like New Year, Dec 25, ThanksGiving etc. BUT this is NOT working. A user gets reminder whether its saturday, sunday or a national holiday.
So keeping our issue in view, I am confident, may be your vacation settings may also not work.
Anyhow, we have a SR Opened with Oracle for this issue long back in Oct 2011. Still they are working on it.
