Remote app: using thumbs from iBooks documents for cover art??

In iTunes on my Mac, I have a playlists where I've dragged in my favourite radio stations. If I connect to it with Apple's Remote.app and play any of them, though, it is using as cover art the covers of PDFs I have in the iBooks.app!
Seems minor, but it seems one app is breaching the sandbox of another, even if they're both Apple apps...
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Latest iBooks, Remote, iOS 5.1, iPhone 4S. Mac is on Snow Leopard, iTunes v10.5.3

I have the same issue. Somehow I had previously fixed it but it has recurred. Deleting and re-installing app does not fix the problem nor does re-setting the iPhone.

What has recently been accepted for cover art

I designed my cover right in ibooks author. It is not a complicated cover. My art is my photoraphy so the cover is a photo with simple text. It didn't require making it in software like Pixilmator that I have. I saw a video tutorial where the author takes a screenshot of the cover in ibooks author and uploads that image (changed into jpg) where it asks for cover art in itunes producer. He says that his book was approved. Has anybody done that process recently and been successful on the review by apple? Or did it wind up being neccessary to use other software to make the second exact cover?

If you use iBA's menu 'File/Publish...', that process should call iTP and insert cover art for you.
What tool(s) you create one on your own with, should you choose to do so, is up to you.

Cover images should now be ...in the RGB color space, and delivered as JPEG files.

I was wondering if I could (legally) use the Apple logo on the Cover Art for my iPad Podcast or if i would have to get a trademark license of sort?

Publish WS2008 R2 Remote App using WS2012 R2 RDS

Is it supported to publish remote app from the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 RDS Session host using Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS Session Collection? Also using Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS gateway etc?
I know this is working, but is this also supported scenario?

If you want to publish RemoteApps that are on a 2008 R2 RDSH server via a 2012 R2 RD Web Access server then you need to do the following:
On the 2012 R2 RD Web Access server, open IIS Manager. In the left pane navigate to Sites\Default Web Site\RDWeb, then in the middle pane double-click on Application Settings. Modify
ws08r2rdserver and set it to the FQDN of the 2008 R2 RDSH server.
Add the 2012 R2 RDWeb server's computer account to the local TS Web Access Computers group on the 2008 R2 RDSH server
On the 2008 R2 RDSH server, open RemoteApp Manager and configure the digital certificate, RD Gateway settings (FQDN of 2012 R2 RDG), server name (FQDN of the 2008 R2), publish RemoteApps, etc.
On the 2008 R2 RDSH server, in RD Session Host Configuration (tsconfig.msc), properties of RDP-Tcp, set the certificate and configure any other custom settings as needed
The key thing that you are doing with the above technique is publishing the .rdp files from the Server 2008 R2 RDSH via the 2012 RD Web Access server. Microsoft specifically included this capability, and has not said that there is problem with using
it. Additionally, there is nothing wrong with using a 2012 R2 RD Gateway to connect to 2008 R2 servers.
At the end of the day when a person launches a 2008 R2 RemoteApp from a 2012 R2 RD Web Access server the client is connecting in the same way as it would under a pure-2008 R2 environment, except for the fact that the 2012 R2 RDG is used.

From the error message, I recommend to check the things below:
Check if Word Viewing service is started in Central Administration. If it is started, stop and re-start it.
Check if the Word Viewing service proxy is created.
Check if the Word Viewing service proxy is associated with web application with issue.
If above cannot work, please check the ULS log for further research.

How to use Results from Another Query for SAP BW universes

Hi Everyone,
I have two SAP BI universes.In my First universe I have Sales Doc no (dimension) and Orderqty (Measure) and in my second universe I have Sales Doc no(Dimension) and BillQty (Measure).
Here in my first dataprovider I have 1200 rows of data and in second dataprovider I have 75,000 rows. The report should fetch only the BillQty details that matches to corresponding Sales doc no in first data provider.
I want to place all these fileds into a single report like as shown.
(Datarpovider1) (Datarpovider1) (Datarpovider2)
*Sales Doc No* Orderqty BillQty
Here I am able to generate single report using merge dimension but it is leading to performance issues. I want to restrict the values at query level by passing the First dataprovider Sales doc no to second Data provider Sales doc number using Results from Anothery Query feature so that It can fetch only the matching records.
I tried it but it was giving the follwing error:
A filter contains a wrong value. You cannot run this query. (Error: WIS 00007)
How Can I get rid of this error. Can we use Results from Anothery Query option for OLAP universe. Are there any limitation on it.
All this I am doing in Webi Rich Client.

Hi Kiran,
I think the filter has a wrong operand. For example, a filter with an empty constant, or a filter that deals with numeric values is defined with an alphanumeric value.Check out for this.

Keynote remote app no longer working with keynote for ipad

noticed after upgrading that the keynote remote does not pair with keynote for the ipad. Any suggestion on a resolution or anyone else experiencing this issue?

I didn't realize until I went to a class to lecture in front of a couple hundred students that what worked on Friday no longer worked on Monday. (I upgraded to iOS 5 over the weekend.) My iPad with lecture slides was plugged in 25 feet away. I finally recruited a student to tap the iPad screen when I needed the next slide. A nightmare. What is usually slick and seamless was a wreck.
Here's my deal. My remote app works fine at home where my iPod Touch and iPad are on the same wifi network. At school they're on different networks for some reason. Bluetooth doesn't work anywhere. So Apple needs to find this bug and fix it. I can't believe whoever is responsible for this didn't test this out before they released iOS 5. Sheesh.

Do I need to pay for Cover art?

Still new to Mac and iTunes. Please forgive me in case this is obvious question.
I have imported several CDs through iTunes with no issues. However, the cover art will not download unless I have an iTune account. So I made one. But, I did not provide credit card information at this time. Do I seriously have to pay to download the cover art for CDs that I own?

Best Scan for Cover Art?

Hello, I have about 1000 cds in my iTunes Library. Some I can not find the Cover Art anywhere on line. I have tried to scan them myself but they always come out at not the best quality. Can anyone suggest the scanning resolution that works the best for high quality cover art?

I've scanned many of my own CDs, when I couldn't fine
a nice image online.
I believe Apple uses 500 pixels square, but I use 750
pixels square as it looks better on a large monitor
or my AppleTV. Depending on your scanning software,
you may be able to directly specify the pixel size,
or you might have to set the dpi instead. In that
case, use something between 100 and 125 dpi. In
either case, be the final scan is exactly square (ie
750 x 750 not 750 x 748), as it improves the
performance of CoverFlow.
Apple's iTunes Store uses 600x600 pixels but in the dim and distant past used 300x300, most if not by now all, have been upgraded to 600x600. For your information Amazon and Walmart both use 500x500 pixels, and yech Windows Media Player uses a pathetic 200x200 pixels.
Note also that Amazon has a nasty habit of putting white borders top and bottom.

HT5071 Publishing from iBooks Author for approval

I am in the process of creating a book with iBooks Author and want to send it to contributors for approval. I know how to do it if they have an iPad. Is there a way to convert to another format for viewing with a Mac or PC?

How to use my old iBook - unix for what?

I have an iBook with Mac OS X 10.0.4. And a 40 GB HD.
Temporarily I have used it as a webserver, but I think it's shame that I can't use it for something better.
Do anyone of you have ideas for how to put it to use as a server of some kind? Or something.
(Is harware is ok apart from a few minor problems.)

I am a bit used to Unix things, but I'm no experienced admin.
So I just thought that I'd find something useful to run on my old IBook.
I think that I have a Developer CD, maybe. But a better idea is if I can download some binaries for whatever.
I then would be thankful for what old software should be interesting, also maybe just for a test. Such as sendmail, although I have no idea what that would give, more than some knowledge. I suspect that would be too complex for me. Earlier I had some Mac SMTP software, I think. Maybe system 9.
But I also do not know how easy it is to lay hands on old binaries. I have searched for other old things on the Internet, that seems hard to get hold of.
Thankful for all ideas!

Mail.app using Day of the Year for date stamps. Whaaaat?

Here's a new one, for me anyway:
It seems all of my emails in the mail.app have suddenly been stamped with dates that use the day of the year, rather than day of the month, i.e:
37 February, 2011, instead of 6 February, 2011.
This date format appears in both the Viewer Window and Message Headers, and is seen in both sent/received dates, on all saved/new messages (all the way back to a few from 2001) and in both of the mail.app accounts I use: one straight-up gmail, the other a worldshare.net address, also using the Gmail server.
This behavior is not present when reading through webmail, nor is it a problem on my iPod Touch.
Any thoughts?

It was all in Language and Text pref pane. I was pulling day of year, rather than day of month.

Use method from father class for event

Hi,
I want to use a preDelete event in my class, but the method I would like to call for the event is not in the class itself, but in the (abstract) predecessor class. Any chance to do this? At the moment I can't select the method in the event tab page (it's not in the list to choose from ...)

In 9.0.4 you will need to add the parent class as a descriptor and choose to deactivate it. This will allow you to choose methods from that class in the subclass descriptors.

How do I best upgrade a multiworkstation app using DSC from LV7.2 to 8.6?

I have an extended, properly functioning process control and data acquisition application running across multiple workstations (roughly 10). The workstations share information with each other and with process controllers via DSC and OPC.
We're currently running at version 7.1, and this spring we want to update to the current version of Labview (which, by then, will be 8.6.1; we are on the SSP).
I understand that the tag engine/database have changed significantly between 7.1 and the current version of the DSC, and wonder if there is a good roadmap for executing this upgrade to minimize downtime on our tool?

Hi Ben -- we do not log history or events in the DSC, so that is not an issue.
The application is controlling a multi-chamber (7 connected vacuum chambers arranged in a star configuration) thin film deposition system. The basic control, interlocks, and safety/process security of the vacuum components is done via a series of Opto22 "brains", which are essentially simple processors running programs to control IO for valves and temperature control systems. They communicate with each other via Ethernet.
There is an OPC server for the Opto22 brains, which runs on one workstation dedicated to use as a gateway between LabVIEW and the network of brains. A DSC tag database is set up on that machine to access some of the IO states and variables in the brains, and then the other workstations have tag databases that reference those tags (the brains' communications interfaces can be overwhelmed if too many workstations access them simultaneously, so we use a single workstation as the gateway). Via the gateway, a workstation may read/manipulate some of the io states directly, and make other requests of the brains' software by setting flag variables in the strategies running therein.
Each chamber also has a complex motion control system for process manipulation, as well as extensive serial/parallel communications to control the gas systems, deposition power supplies, etc. The process software on each workstation makes available a "snapshot" of its process state available via memory tags in the DSC, so that the workstation controlling the central chamber can detect when a task in an outer chamber is completed and move samples between the different chambers.
All the workstations, brains, and motion control systems are interconnected via an Ethernet network independent of our building intranet. There is one additional workstation that maintains a process database, where each workstation can record each process task and the samples affected by it.
Everything is working at this point, but we recognize that we are overdue to bring the system up to the current level.
In particular, guidance as to a possible way to upgrade the gateway tag DSC database and then the others referencing it in advance of recompiling all the software, if that is possible.

Remote Connection using Back to my Mac for Time Capsule?

How do I connect to my Time Capsule and connected usb drive/printer now that Back to my Mac for Mobile Me is disabled and iCloud is running Back to my Mac?

I used to use the Mobile Me's version of Back to my Mac to enable connecting with my time Capsule, but how is this done now that iCloud has taken over Back to my Mac and I have upgraded to Lion.
I have a Feb2011 MBP and a 2010 minimac the macmini is always connected to the time capsule, but I would like to be able to connect directly to the time capsule without having to go through the macmini.

It is possible but I am not sure it is worth the hassle..
Your key issue here is public IP for your network.. if you have a static ip you are fine.. but very few people have this. It also depends on how the TC is setup.. is it the main router for the network or plugged into a modem router which has the role of main router, even if you use the TC as a secondary router.
Without more info..
1. This is easy if you have a static public IP and the TC is the main router and gets the public IP on the wan port.. just go to disk sharing in the airport utility manual setup and check for wan (internet access).
2. If you have a dynamic IP, then you will have to sort out how you are going to find that IP.. the normal method to use dyndns account is not directly applicable because the TC has no client. It is possible to set up dyn dns but you will need to purchase your own domain name.
3. You may find it easier to use standard router and bridge the TC. A standard router can be setup to port forward 548 AFP files service to the TC ip address. You may or maynot be able to access the printer. Certainly would be easier if the printer has IPP services. And is a true network printer.
4. Use vpn.. get a vpn router so you can setup proper vpn endpoints.. then you use VPN service to access your local network.. this is far more secure and will work with dyndns just fine.
