Remote Control Play doesn't activate selected button

Hi,
Super new to the Studio Pro Apps, and I'm almost finished with a DVD Pro disk, except the "play" button on the remote on the screen doesn't select the highlighted menu item while running a simulation. I checked to make sure the button was linked to a target, and I don't know what I "did" or "undid" so this doesn't work on the main menu.
Please help? (Thanks) And why oh why did they screw up the community? It wasn't broken, but now it sure is and I can't find anything.

In case anyone else stumbles upon this, I'll let you in on DVD Studio's screen remote's play function does not work in the simulation, when I burned a DVD and tried it out in my DVD player, it worked fine.

Universal dock remote control play/pause button doesn't work

Hi all,
Ok since updating to Ipod touch software v2.2 I have been unable to use the play/pause button on my Apple universal dock remote, whilst my iPod touch is in the dock.
The volume controls and track next and previous buttons commands on the remote control work just fine.
I have tried unpairing and then pairing the remote with the universal dock but same issue. I thought that maybe the play/pause key was possibly broken. However I tested the remote on my iMac and play/pause button works fine in front row.
Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Strange thing is mine started working again last night and is still working. Seems the problem went away as it originally appeared. I hope it doesn't stop working.
I will mark this thread as unanswered until we can figure why the remote, universal dock and iPod touch are behaving this way.

Remote control play/pause gnome

ok so i have just installed Gnome and tried to use the remote control that ships with my compro videomate T750, i can use the volume fine but when it comes to pausing a movie in say smplayer all i get is a ring with a line through it. i know the control works as i use it with LXDE and KDE with no issue at all, i have tried setting keyboard mapping and when i press play/pause the mapping is accepted however when i try to use it it wont work.
anyone have any suggestions / experiance with this issue.

yes i tried last night and totem and rythmbox both work. i would have liked to stick with smplayer and maybe i will look for a plugin or something later but for now it seems to be working. however as the original post was regarding a non standard gnome media player i shall hold off marking it solved until either i find or am informed about a work round.

Text doesn't activate when button underneath is rolled over.

I have 2 layers in my flash site. 1 with my nav buttons which work fine. But when I put the text in a layer above to identify the button, the button action won't activate when over the text. But when I move my cursor not on an area of the text but still over the button, it does work. Help! I got one in another part of the site to work fine, but these don't. They are set-up exactly the same as far as I can tell.

Are you sure? Since you use the term "classic" I assume you are using a newer version of Flash than I have. But classically speaking... static textfields do have the selectable option (look for the "Ab" icon in the panel)

Remote control plays wrong track!?

hi, i have set up a DVD with four buttons playing 4 tracks, each of which has 1 chapter (or clip) and returns to the menu after playing. after i've burned the DVD and placed it into the DVD player, pressing the numbers 1 through 4 however causes the wrong tracks to play: for example pressing "1" plays track 1, pressing "2" plays track 3, "3" plays track 4, and "4" plays track 2!
I originally had the tracks arranged differently, where in the menu button 1 one was actually playing track 4, for example. but when i noticed this problem i went back and set it up so that track one contains clip 1, 2 contains 2 etc. hoping the problem had something to do with that.
it did not solve the problem...
can anyone tell me what i am missing here? i simpy want to have each corresponding track play accordingly when i click its number on my remote...

so the final question then is are all the assets in different tracks, and if so, what order are they in when you look in the outline view (top to bottom)?
ok, in outline view all tracks align (1-4) vertically, and each opens the appropriate asset in the track wiindow (bottom middle) when highlighted. so all seems logical right?
so i burned another one (fresh build - no recycled versions) and stuck it in the player - what happens? whn i am looking at the menu, and press "2" the dvd plays track 3... same problem, but check this out:
if i am watching one of the tracks (say 1) and i press number 2 on the remote the dvd jumps to track 2 (i.e. NOT 3) as it is supposed to... this works for all the other tracks also)
so it seems the incorrect jumping occurs only from the main menu.. though as far as i can tell that is clean. BTW this time i deactivated "auto assign" in the Menu> Settings pulldown before the build)

Remote Control doesn't launch Media Center on Pavilion dv9535nr

Hi, is not big deal, but it's kinda annoying, the remote control (image) doesn't launch Windows Media Center with the top right button (green with Windows logo), I don't know exactly when, but it stopped launching Windows Media Center, and my OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bits) includes Windows Media Center (just in case, version 6.0.6001.18254). I can still launch it manually (shortcuts, etc).
I'd rather use Windows Media Center instead of QuickPlay, because of the Xbox 360 connectivity.
So, please, can somebody tell me how can I solve this problem ??

So when you hit "Play" it will start playing off your playlist, but no media player ever opens? All I can think is if you are using some super small skin and just not noticing it off in a corner or something, or if you used to have multiple monitors and drug it onto the secondary and now only use one...
The only solution I found to make the hardware work right I don't think I'm supposed to post, because it includes "don't use any software coded by CL" lol. Also I don't think this would be the right solution for you, as it sounds like the remote is working fine with MediaSource for the most part (or I am horribly misunderstanding).

Earbuds remote control doesn't work anymore!

I've had an iPhone 4 since September 2010, and I've always used the earbuds that came with him.They used to work great until this week.
Now, it's buillt-in remote control doesn't work anymore.By that I mean I can not skip, pause or even use voice control through the earbuds.
And this probably isn't an iPhone problem, because I tested these earbuds in my iPad 2 and the remote control still doesn't work.
I noticed that the rubber that used to cover the cable itself is coming off, especially near the remote control area.
Is there a fix for these unresponsive controls?
Or what Apple email I should reach in order to ask them about this issue?

My iPhone 4 is running iOS 5.0 and so is my iPad 2.

Is your phone locked in portrait orientation? I've found that for some reason my controls will not work when my portrait orientation is locked.
Try double-clicking the main button, and then sliding your thumb right. You should get some controls at the bottom of your screen, and the button on the far left is the Portrait Lock button. Try unlocking your phone, and see if your earbuds will then work.

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Remote Control not work

hello all.. Sorry for beating a dead horse. My installation on a P4 3.0 ghz machine of the Audigy 2 was flawless. All hardware diagnostics that have been run have been successful. Everything works. I updated all drivers. Everything is functional on the unit.....but...the remote control doesn't work.
When I got to setup the remote control and it asks to select a transmitter (rm-500) from a drop down list, it shows rm-500. but it the drop down list for the receiver is BLANK? I've tried several suggestions from the forum but it still doesn't work.
Have I missed something or is it quite possibly just a dud unit that I have to take back.

OK, let's see, you have a device that is still under warranty. You properly installed said device. You put batteries in the remote but it does not work no matter what you try. It seems to me that you have only one option and you mentioned it in the penultimate sentence in your post.

Editing Scene Selection Buttons

I am trying to create a Disc Menu in Premiere Elements 9 but I can't seem to edit the buttons for the scene selections.
The basic problem is that the titles for my scenes are a little long so it looks sloppy underneath the video image. Really, if it would allow me to center the text underneath the video image that appears, that would solve my problem. If that's not possible, just removing the video image could work as well. Is there any way to edit these buttons other than just font, size, and color?
Also, whenever I try to change the font for the "Play All" and "Scene Selection" button on the main page, the text disappears. Am I doing something wrong?

Unfortunately, you can not change the alignment of text on a disc menu without opening up the template itself and manually changing it.You can only change the font, style and color for each block of text.
I don't know why you can't edit the Play All and Scene Selection buttons. You should be able to . At least on most disc menu templates. You may have applied a disc menu template that's the exception -- quite possibly because the text block is locked or is a graphic rather than true text.

Virtual Remote Control

Hi,
I want to paint a Remote Control to the TV screen (like the one on XleTView) and use the real Remote Control as a "mouse" pointer to press the desired keys..
Basically, I'll use only the directional keys and the OK/Enter key on real Remote Control, and when focused and selected some key of the virtual Remote Control, emulate the key press to the Set Top Box, or other applications..
It's possible? Does anyone can help me on what classes and methods do I need to use?

Some years ago, faced with the situation that the minimum MHP system would not have a pointer device and that the end user would not have access to Java mouse events, I thought of the idea of the Astrolabe Channel Numerical Pointer. I wrote about the idea.
More recently I have refined the idea and the Accessibility Computing Numerical Pointer is described in the following web page.

How do I assign the play button on my remote control

I made a simple menu with two buttons and it activates the buttons when I select using arrows and push enter, but not when I push play. I would like to be able to start the movie by pushing play as well. Thank you to anyone who can help me!

Open up your menu and then select the menu.
Then go to the advanced tab and see what buttons you can enable or disable for the remote. Look under "playback control", "stream selection", "menu call", and "button".
If you have everything enabled, and it doesnt work, then it is just your player.
I am pretty sure it just depends on the player you have.
If hitting play doesnt start the track, then you are just barred i guess with that player. Try another player to see if it works.
Read the manual as well to see what it says.

I have an Encore project with 1 menu, containing 1 button, pointing to 1 timeline. Very simple in nature. However, both in the virtual preview and on an authored disc, the remote control does not work as hoped. I find that I have to use the 'enter' button (usually between the up,down,left,right arrows) in order to play the track. The 'play' button does not work for some reason. I have the button set to auto activate so that it's selected upon the menu loading. But whether this is the case or not seems to have no bearing on the result.
I unfortunately have to dumb it down as much as possible because some of the people seeing this won't think to hit 'enter'.

On menus, the Enter button is what is supposed to be pressed to activate a button. However, some players will also accept the Play button being pressed to activate the button. But not all players will activate a button when you press Play.
For instance, I have a Sony that will accept Play to activate a button. But my Pioneer will not. And my Sony PS3 will not.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Sadly Snow Leopard was the last OS X to have Front Row and it is no longer offered in Lion or Mountain.

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in preview.

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in encore preview. This only happens for a Blu ray project. When a user presses the menu button it should go to the previous menu they were on but it goes to the main menu. When they press the title button they should go to the main menu but it doesn't do anything. My DVD projects work as expected.I've tried creating a new "test" project with different footage and still get the same undesirable results.
Overrides grayed out and set to "not set" for timelines and menus.Project settings and build are set to blu ray. Also I've noticed when I preview a Bluray project the preview window shows a red colored disc next to the Title button when viewing the timelines and green when playing the menus but not so for a DVD project it displays red if motion menus and or timelines are not rendered/encoded. I'm not using motion menus and all the media is encoded according to the project specs.
I've searched this forum but couldn't find the answer. Any help or redirects to a solution would be appreciated. Working with CS5. Thanks.

I found out on my Samsung Blu ray player the remote has a tools button on it that brings up audio, angle, chapter selection etc.and also title selection which is actually the menus and the timelines unfortunately. It's not as easy or direct as last menu selected but it's a workaround at least. I also plan on using a pop up menu. I'll let you know.
