Remove failing 2003 DC - certificate help

I have ran into an issue where I am unsure of what to do.
I need to demote my 2003 domain controller. All FSMO roles have been moved to another 2008 DC.
The hardware is in such bad shape I don't trust rebooting it. As a test today I removed the network cable waited for issues to arise. I had a few issues with static dns entries. I had those all taken care of.
I noticed even before the removal of the DC I am getting these errors: on the two other DC's.
Certificate enrollment for Local system failed to enroll for a DomainController certificate with request ID N/A from DC01.DOMAIN.LOCAL\name.domain.com (The RPC server is unavailable. 0x800706ba (WIN32: 1722)).
Here is what I don't understand \name.domain.com dosen't match my domain.local I am not sure what this was used for. I took over this environment with no documentation.
Another issues that I am unsure of is my license sites settings inside of sites and services is set to the DC I am trying to remove from the environment. Will this be repopulated with the new DC after demotion?

Hi,
>Here is what I don't understand \name.domain.com dosen't match my domain.local I am not sure what this was used for.
I have two guesses for this: the domain could be renamed or cross-forest certificate enrollment is involved.
>Another issues that I am unsure of is my license sites settings inside of sites and services is set to the DC I am trying to remove from the environment. Will this be repopulated with the new DC after demotion?
I am not quite sure about this question, are you saying that the DC which is going to be demoted is a license server? If so, since license server can be installed on a domain controller or a member server, therefore you don’t have
to change the license server. However, if the DC is in a bad shape, you can change the license server through Active Directory Sites and Services:

  • Verification Failed. The certificate for this server is invalid

I am trying to backup my iPad to iCloud.  I get:
Verification Failed.  The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "setup.icloud.com" which could put your confidential information at risk.
I am logged onto the wifi at work and I can surf the Internet so the connection is OK.
How do I begin to debug this issue?

    Hey everyone,
I had this issue for few months already! I have a @me.com mail address, theoretically should be compatible with iCloud, just for some reason, it's not working!!
The mail all work fine on my macbook and iPhone, just the ipad kept showing the error message, the "verification failed".
The internet is wi-fi and it all working fine.
    Now here is the solution.
Make sure you got internet connected fine.
Go Setting --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Add Account --> Other
    --> Add Mail Address -->
in the description, it will auto showing "Me", don't change it!
    Go "Next" -->
    in the Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name --> Type "imap.mail.me.com"
Then your user name and password
    in the Outgoing Mail Server
    Host Name --> Type "smtp.mail.me.com"
Then your user name and password
    Then next and save it.
This should work, it works for me,
    Hope this helps!!

  • Product: Java X Update X.. removal failed or error status 1602

    Hi
Managing several different environments I repeatedly run into the same error on "to many" computers.
We use SCCM as our primary distribution tool and install Java using the embedded MSI and a custom made MST.
End user platform is: Windows XP and/or Windows 7
The installs works flawlessly in 95% of all cases but the remaining 5% are still a big hurdle to have to handle manually.
    Problem:
Installing the newest version returns error code: 1602.
For a long time I have been ignoring it since it generally means that the end user has cancled the installation. But upon furter investigation I have found out that this is not the case.
On the individual computer the eventlog actually reports: Product: Java X Update X.. removal failed or error status 1602.
It is the uninstall of the previous version that fails.
Does anyone know what causes this and possible a solution?
    Best Regards,
    Christian

The same problem happened to me. When upgrading from JRE 1.5.0_5 to JRE 1.5.0_6, suddenly no applets would load, and all I could see was the little red X.
I tried to change proxysettings (I dont use a proxy, but it is told at http://www.java.com/en/download/help/redximage.xml that it is due to wrong proxy-settings). It didn't help.
I tried to turn off zonealarm. It didn't help.
I tried to clear the browsers cache. It didn't help.
I have been using both Firefox 1.5, and IE6. None would load the java-applets.
So I uninstalled all older JRE versions and installed JRE 1.4.1_02. It worked!
I then tried to upgrade to JRE 1.5.0. It didn't work.
Now I am back at JRE 1.4.1_02 without knowing why I had to downgrade through 6 versions that through the last year or so has been working fine on my machine.
I have no idea why it suddenly wouldnt work with the newer versions.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

  • How to remove "removing failed" on Memory Card

I installed "bloomberg", "Financial Di..." and other applications on memory card.
I formatted my phone Nokia E71, but I forgot to remove on my phone. So when I push my memory card:
    -  "Bloomberg" and "Financial Di..." are in Menu/Installation, but I can not run. I remove them, my phone showed that "File corrupted".
    -   Some applications do not appear in Menu/ Installation, I opened Application Manager to remove them, but my phone showed that "Removing failed".
Please tell me how to remove these applications.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I would have thought that formatting the card will get rid off those, back up your important stuff beforehand though.

  • Removing Exchange 2003 form a DC

    Hi Folks,
Here's my situation and I am hoping you can help.
    DC1
    Windows Server 2003
    Exchange 2003
    DNS
    DC2
    Windows Server 2003
    DC3
    Windows Server 2008 R2
    DNS
Due to aging equipment, I need to remove Exchange 2003 from DC1 and demote it to a member server  The machine will then be decomissioned.   The Exchange data has been exported from DC1 and imported into Office365, and the Exchange services
are not currently running. The FSMO roles have been moved off from DC1 to DC3. All clients and server now use DC3 for DNS.
I have heard of all sorts of horror stories related to removing Exchange from a DC. Based on my situation, can anyone tell me what I need to do to remove Exchange 2003 so that I can demote this DC. The Exchange store has been shutdown for sometime know,
but I need to get this machine off our network.
Any help would be appreciated.  I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum.
    Thanks

    Hi,
It is not supported to demote a DC running Exchange Server, so I recommend you follow the steps below to uninstall the Exchange 2003 at first.
    1. Log on to the server from which you want to uninstall Exchange 2003.
    2. Open Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
    3. In Add or Remove Programs, select Microsoft Exchange, and then click Change/Remove.
    4. On the Welcome to the Microsoft Exchange Installation Wizard page, click Next.
    5. On the Component Selection page, in the Action column, use the drop-down arrows to select Remove, and then click Next.
    6. On the Installation Summary page, verify that the Action column is set to Remove, and then click Next.
    7. On the Completing the Microsoft Exchange Installation Wizard page, click Finish.
When you uninstall the Exchange 2003 server successfully, you can demote the DC1 to a member server.
    Hope it helps.

Deploy your WLAN settings through Group Policy - this will allow you to
create a WIFI for Vista and above, and another one for XP. Both offer
you to untick this check box.

  • Remove exchange 2003 error

    good day ,
I start to remove Exchange2003 after success migration to Exchange2010 SP3 I delete the connector
    w2k3-w2k10
    w2k10-w2k3
I followed this link step by step:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg576862%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx
    I have two exchange2003 one w2k3frontend and w2k3exch
for w2k3frontend from add/Remove program is not working I did it with ADSIEdit
but for w2k3exch I get this message:
This server is the master routing routing group first routing group that contains other serveurs.Impossible uninstalling this server without first select a new master routing for this routing group or delete all servers in that group routing .
This server is the server update recipients for the domain. you can uninstall only after selecting another server update of recipients for this area.
so if this still master routing and  the server update recipients for the domain so no problem if I delete from ADSIEdit .
    can you please help me
    Regards

    Zikorai,
From what you are telling us, you won't be able to remove Exchange from that system using the setup program - go ahead and remove it manually, both from the server (if necessary) and from the directory (which will definitely be necessary) using the links
we have provided. Here are some good ones:
Removing Exchange 2003 from the Server:
This one is only necessary if you need to remove Exchange but still have the server operational for other purposes - for instance, if it is also a domain controller - http://blogs.msmvps.com/bradley/2011/01/28/manually-removing-exchange-2003-from-the-migration-process/
If the server isn't required for any other purposes, rebuild the operating system on it
Removing Exchange 2003 from the Directory:
Go to the "Remove the Exchange Server 2003 server from Active Directory" section of this link for how to remove Exchange 2003 from the directory:
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/833396/en-us
One note from Ed Crowley, Exchange MVP - "Do not remove the Exchagne 2003 administrative groups unless you want free-busy problems, leave them there forever."
This should leave you with a system that has no Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 is running smoothly with no issues.

  • Removing exchange 2003 organization from 2003 Domain

    Hello,
My company has fully migrated to Office365 (NOT Hybrid environment) from a local environment consisting of a single domain with a single exchange 2003 server.
Now I will be upgrading the domain to 2012, but I plan on removing the 2003 exchange organization first, before I upgrade domain to 2012.
Would this be the best approach?  Will this remove any needed the exchange attributes?
    Thank you

    Hi Robert,
After the migration is complete and you can retire your Exchange 2003, there are no any exchange attributes will be affected.
You can refer to the above link to remove the Exchange 2003 server from your organization.

    HELP.
    asap

Personally I've noticed that the more exclamation points and the more yelling (i.e. caps) in a post the less likely you are to get helped.
I honestly don't know how to help but am pretty sure you need a few more details as well.

  • How do I set the "When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid" in Firefox for Android?

Due to the security concerns from Heartbleed and Steve Gibson's excellent coverage on certification revocation, I have set "When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid" on my desktop Firefox and now want to do the same on Firefox for Android. I cannot find anything in the settings menu to allow this. Is it done through about:config and if so, what is the setting name there?

hello mcvickerp, in about:config you can switch the setting "security.OCSP.require" to true.
