Remove music that is unauthorized

is there a way to remove music that I don't have authorization to anymore? The short story is I had music in my library that a friend provided me log in info to so I had access. we lost touch and I had to get a new computer and reinstall iTunes. I now have a lot of songs that I can't play and don't want to go through them one by one and deleting if there is an easier way.

Kay's suggestions is probably the closest you'll get, on a windows PC.
For Macs, there is a script to run that will show the "Purchased By" info. Sadly, there isn't anything like that for Windows. You can narrow it down with the "Kind = protected" playlist and go through the songs. Right-click > Get Info on the top song. The Summary tab will show Purchased By. Just keep hitting the Next button to go through the list and delete the ones you didn't buy.

How do remove music that is downloaded from icloud that is on a mobile device?  I tried going through itunes and selecting manually manage videos, applying,  and then clicking on my devices music folder.  When I do this the downloaded music is in black and when I right click to delete, nothing happens.  Any advice?

The next time the problem happens, note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. • Removing music from iphone 4s after the update

How do I remove music that appeared in my iphone 4s after the ios7 update? There are songs on here that my kids have downloaded on their accounts and also songs that I erroneously downloaded but can't delete. I tried dragging the song but no delete button appears for the songs purchased in itunes. I can only delete songs that were added via CD. These songs don't show up in my purchased songs on itunes on my computer, they are only in my phone.

Uncheck autofill and go to the music tab and select whatever you want.

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

if you use iTunes match in order to create space and remove music from your hard drive, does that happen automatically when you subscribe and upload your music or is there another step to remove the music from your hard drive once you've uploaded to iTunes match?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
iTunes match won't automatically remove content from your computer, if you want to do that you will need to do it manually yourself.

  • How can I get rid of songs listed as shadow/grey letters in my music that I have removed?

Songs that should have been removed is still there. This is music that's not in iCloud. It happend when I change Itunes to another PC. Some songs are even listed two times.

I was only able to get rid of this, on my iPhone 6+ running 8.0.2, after restoring my phone via iTunes. This was after spending 90 minutes with Apple support.

  • How can i remove videos and music that are not on my ipad mini but are still taking up space and are showing that they are there even after i've deleted them?

how can i remove videos and music that have been deleted from the ipad but are still showing in settings as still being on the ipad?

I believe that I have the same issue with iPad Mini with Retina Display, iOS 8.1. No matter which way I delete videos from my iPad, they will still show as "deleted", yet the space is not cleared up. I tried restore and then a full restore (clean setup as a new iPad) and it still does this to me. I can solve it by doing a restore each and every time I download a video and delete it. Rather frustrating. Has been a problem since day 1 of iOS 8. I'm yet to try the power+home button reset. It may very well work, but I am surprised that a "fresh setup" of an iPad didn't resolve it from ever occurring.

  • MediaSync removes music, even though that music is selected

This has happened a few times. Using the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac, I have several playlists selected for syncing (and these have been the same since I set this up). When I sync, sometimes the music sync takes a long time. So I open the log window to discover that this is removing music, rather then syncing it. This is what the log shows:
2010-04-22 01:47:25.665 INFO     default     MediaSync Updating; remove DTrack <song>
2010-04-22 01:47:25.672 INFO     default     MediaSync File removed successfully: /Volumes/BLACKBERRY2/BlackBerry/music/Media Sync/<song>
2010-04-22 01:47:25.684 ERROR*** default     MediaSync Cannot open file at: <path>/<song>
2010-04-22 01:47:25.685 ERROR*** default     MediaSync Failed to copy track from: <path>/<song> to: /Volumes/BLACKBERRY2/BlackBerry/<song>
Every song that was on the blackberry is gone after this. Then if I sync again, the songs are placed back on the blackberry. This process takes "hours"!

Is no one else having this issue? Is it me alone? Anyone care to contribute? Anyone at BB take notice?

  • I want to know why all of the music that is still on my iphone is not on my itunes acct and how I can get it all on there?

For some reason all of the music on my iPhone is no longer on my iTunes account.  I have done a down load and quite a bit of it has been added to the itunes account, but there is still quite a bit of music that is still not on the iTunes that I have on my phone.  All of the music I have was either put on itunes initially by a CD or I bought it from iTunes directly.  I want to know how I can make them match.

Yes there is. Those songs are not actually on your iPad. They are in iCloud ready for download if you choose to do so. If you want to remove them go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All>Music>Off. You can also do this in Settings>Music>Show All Music>Off.

I gave my old MacBook Pro away and no longer have access to it. I didn't think to deauthorize it first. I DO NOT want it to have access to all music in my iCloud or any music that may have been downloaded sinceI gave away the computer. It now belongs to my teenage daughter, who has since been in my WI-FI area and knows that code. I had EVERYTHING removed from the computer before I gave it to her (long story), but since I hadn't deauthorized the Mac,I'm assuming even without the itunes password the iCloud material would had loaded onto her computer. My iCloud had somehow included personal voice mails under Unknown Artist that I did not want on there or shared. How can I deauthorize the Mac Laptop without having the machine available to do it on? Change the iTunes/iCloud password? I should now have my desktop computer, new PC (Aspire) laptop,Ipod Touch, and if possible my Evo 3D as well as my boyfriend's Samsung smartphone being able to access the iCloud account/library--whatever it is called. HELP

Thanks, I appreciate the help.  I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.

  • Can I transfer music that is only on my iPad that WAS NOT purchased from iTunes to my iTunes account on new computer?

I've had my iPad 2 for about four years now and I can tell that the interface is being very slow and that the screen does not always react when I tap on it, meaning I may have to get a new one sooner or later.
My biggest problem is that on my iPad, I have all of the Beatles' CDs, some of which are from my own personal copies and some are from my former local public library. Ever Since I copied all these CDs onto my iPad, I've moved to a new state and got a new laptop, thus starting with an iTunes account that only has music I purchased from the iTunes Store on it, and no Beatles. The local libraries where I live now do not offer any CDs for borrowing, so I have no way of getting some of the CDs I don't own for free. I really do not want to purchase a bunch of albums from iTunes, as well.
Is there any way to get the Beatles music that is only on my iPad that was not purchased from iTunes onto my iTunes account without removing it from my iPad? Thanks for your help!

Then the latter part of my first reply which is repeated here:
    - If you follow these instructions the iPod will be updated when the instructions say to restore.

  • ITunes Match removes content that you paid for

iTunes Match will DESTROY playlists, your library and will in fact remove content from your library; this content can mean items that you burned into iTunes AND items that you purchased from iTunes (and have receipts for)
Here is an except from their terms and conditions:
iTunes Match is provided on an “AS IS” basis and may contain errors or inaccuracies that could cause failures, corruption or loss of data and/or information, including music, playlist, and play history, from your computer or device and from peripherals (including, without limitation, servers and other computers) connected thereto. You should back up all data and information on your computer or device and any peripherals prior to using iTunes Match. You expressly acknowledge and agree that all use of iTunes Match is at your sole risk. To the extent permitted by law, Apple shall have no liability with respect to your use of iTunes Match, including the inability to access matched or uploaded content.
What is so disturbing is, that depending upon WHICH customer service agent you get, you may or may not get your files replaced!  DO NOT USE iTunes MATCH or GENIUS if you have a large library.  My library is 34,000+ songs (mostly purchased from Apple) 119 Music Videos (all Purchased from Apple) 504 Movies & 2200+ Television Episodes (movies and TV shows ALL purchased from Apple)....  iTunes Matched reeked havoc with my music playlists, it or Genius caused so many duplicates in my Movies and TV shows it was crazy and Apple's customer service has fallen off tremendously in the last couple of years.  My problem with Apple iTunes Match goes back to the beginning of iTunes Match, and I spent 4 years asking via email if iTunes Match was the culprit.  FINALLY I got a tech that was honest and admitted that they were aware of the problem.
The problem exists because Apple's iTunes library (the store having a MARVELOUS selection of Classical Material) is ill equipped to deal with Classical Music Albums without splitting them into numerous albums and confusing "songs" that have the same name.  It also happened with some of my Rock Collection when the files/songs shared the same name, it would assume it was a duplicate and remove one, effectively gutting an album that I had paid for.
So the question is why doesn't Apple see fit to at least restore the music that was legitimately purchased from the iTunes Music store that it's iTunes Match system has removed?  "At your own risk" should at least mean that the iTunes Reps are honest and knowledgeable concerning the issue.  "As is" is one thing, and "Good Faith" is another!  If you can't answer this question, please bring back the customer service we had when Steve Jobs was alive.  (I've been with you guys since 1988!!!!)

Oh goodness, I thought if I shared my situation that someone, even a Apple rep might say, "Hey I have a solution for you!"
The poster answered your question. Apple does not participate in the forum, and as users we wouldn't know why Apple does what it does. And, it is a violation of the TOS of the forum to speculate about Apple policy.
In response to the second post, you are not going to get an Apple rep here, since they do not participate in the forum. Unfortunately, no one here would be able to help you with your problem, since we are users, and do not have access to the iTunes Match system. You will have to deal with them on the situation. And yes, I did read that you have been dealing with them for 4 years, but again, that is not anything we can change. Good luck.
