Removing a destroyed device

My iPad was run over by a car and totally destroyed.  How do I remove this device from my iTunes account?

Good point - I misspoke.  I know my iPad was a supported device, and I know that it is being counted in that list of three "computers", because I was actively using it until it was demolished.  But it does not explicitly apprear on any list, and that is the crux of the reason I can't make iTunes decrement that count, I suppose.
House,
That count normally includes only computers, not devices, so I doubt your iPad is among the 3.  It often, however does include computers that have bitten the dust, computers that were upgraded without first deauthorizing, etc, so the count is frequently higher than people expect.
Even if you knew exactly what was among the 3, there is no way to deauthorize a computer unless you can access it, and it is in working condition, so that the "Deauthorize" command can be used.  Failing that, just don't wory about it.  When you hit the limit of 5 you can "Deauthorize All" and start over.

  • How can I remove a tablet device that isn't there?

In one of our test environments we've got an Xserve running OSX 10.5.6, inside is running Server 10.5 in VMWare Fusion.
Now, the VM thinks it has a tablet device installed, as is evidenced by the ink tab showing up in system preferences (the host does not have the ink option there). Obviously there is no tablet device installed. The VM was set up by one of our IT guys who has already reinstalled it, noting no options during setup about a tablet device.
This problem is causing one piece of software to not work in the VM, or at least, the UI doesn't. There are thousands of console messages reading "QCocoaView handleTabletEvent: This tablet device is unknown (received no proximity event for it). Discarding event"
Question is, how can I remove the tablet device so that this software will start working? I've checked all through VMWare Fusion's options/preferences & couldn't find anything there and Googling has turned up nothing so far.

How can I create a new recovery key if you automatically removed my trusted device after update do iOS 8?

    Hey -
I need to do the EXACT same thing, but have no idea how. Has anyone out there done this?
My situation is a tad different..this is a new Mac (and I'm a brand new Mac user). Tons of querks occur under my original account (videos won't run, Safari won't support certain plug-ins). I spent 6 hours on the phone w/ 4 different Apple Reps and nobody could fix it. A rep finally looked at my MacBook Pro in person today. He created a new account just to see if that would work and under that new account, everything works perfectly fine (no querks, can view video). He tried switching a million settings in my original account to no avail.
He said to create a new account (as he did) and move my files over to the new account and then go back to the original and delete it. How do you do this?! I can't figure it out! I've got a new account created, but of course it just has the default folders in it w/ the little red icons next to them! Thanks in advance!

  • How can I remove a Input device from my Mac?

Hello, I would like to know how I can remove a input device from the Sound area in System Preferences. I installed Wiretap Anywhere a sound input program for my Mac and did not realize It was not supported for Moutain Lion. I put the application in the trash and then emptied the trash can. Now whenever I try to start GarageBand or a program like that it crashes my computer. In the Input tab of Sound (System Preferences) It is listed as Wiretap: System Audio.
I would like to remove this from the Input tab so I can use my Mac reguarly. Any Ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Justin

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @mrsddavis ,
I read your post about the troubles you're having with the printer telling you to "remove a USB device", when you do not have a USB device plugged into the unit. I have a couple suggestions that I hope will help you. You may have tried all of the steps to my first idea, if so move on to the second one. Also, the second step will be in a private message to you, as it cannot be posted publicly.  In regards to the ADF not working, let me know what the problem is, for example, will it pull in paper and then jam, or will it not pull paper in at all? Let me know so I can research that problem for you.
If you are not sure how to check your forum messages this post, has instructions.
    Power reset:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Good luck, I hope this helps

FATAL Error... When trying to remove Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) on my windows xp. I tried to update iTunes to update my iPhone software and it told me to uninstall iTunes and AMDS for a newer version. Now I get a fatal error and I can't sync my phone. What should I do?

FATAL Error... When trying to remove Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) on my windows xp.
We've made some progress with some of those in recent days, Stop. It looks like (with some of them), the trouble is caused by trouble with the HKEYCURRENTUSER registry keys associated with your usual XP user account.
If that's what is afoot, the following technique may be of some assistance.
Head into your User Accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights. Log out of your normal account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Inside the new account, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, and attempt to uninstall AMDS from there.
Does the uninstall go through without the fatal error in the new user account?
If so, *staying in the new user account,* do a complete uninstall of iTunes and related componentry as per:
[Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925]
(You'll need, in particular, to do the reinstall of iTunes from inside the new account. Experience of the last two cases of this indicates that if you try the reinstall from inside the usual user account, AMDS just silently fails to install.)
If everything seems to have reinstalled correctly, log out of the new account, and log back into your usual account. Try launching iTunes in your usual account. Does it launch properly in there now?

  • Removing or destroying an ABAP program from memory

    Hello!
Is there a command to kill, unload, remove or destroy a previously called ABAP program from memory? Let me explain what I'm trying to do:
I'm doing some WM developments and I use the function L_TO_CONFIRM to confirm transfer orders. This function belongs to function group L03B (program SAPLL03B) and eventually it makes external  calls to subroutines belonging to program SAPML03T.
If my Z program calls this funcion, the SAPLL03B program is responsible for loading SAPML03T into memory and everything works fine. The loaded programs list (on the debugging menu) are like this:
    No     Program          Group with
    52     SAPLL03B
    78     SAPML03T      52
This is also what I get if testing L_TO_CONFIRM from SE37, where it also works.
But I wanted to reuse some subroutines from SAPML03T on my Z program, so I call something like this:
    PERFORM set_quit_icon(sapml03t) ...
This call happens before the function call, so SAPML03T gets loaded by my Z program first, and stays on the memory. The list of loaded programs then looks like this:
    No     Program          Grouped with
      1     ZWMO_023
    27     SAPML03T       1
So after calling the external subroutine in SAPML03T, I do some more coding and finally call the function L_TO_CONFIRM. Inside this call, my list looks like:
    No     Program          Group
      1     ZWMO_023 => My Z program
    27     SAPML03T       1
    28     SAPLL03B
So SAPML03T is grouped with my Z program and not SAPLL03B as it would be if I hadn't called the external subroutine first.
    Now, the problem:
Since SAPML03T and SAPLL03B apparently share some global data (at least global workarea/table LTAK), in a normal call (SAPML03T)LTAK gets filled by a select statement and instantly (and somewhat inexplicable from what I new until now) (SAPLL03B)LTAK also gets filled by the same data. Well, I've only seen stuff like this with field-symbols but this is not the case. I would bet this two workareas would always be in fact two different workareas, but during the straight function call they are not. They are the same (I wish I could find their pointer addresses (like C++ stuff) to prove they were the same, but I couldn't). But if I call the external subroutine first and SAPML03T gets loaded, then I do have two different LTAKs and that's where I have problems, because L_TO_CONFIRM was coded considering this single workarea thing and when I have two, it doesn't work.

    Yes, I tought about that.
As a matter of fact, just last week we had another global memory issue in a costing user-exit and we tried solving it with a STARTING NEW TASK. This initialy solved our problem, but this command leads to the opening of a new gui session, and when running this cost calculation procedure in the background, a short dump COMMUNICATION FAILURE was raised, probably because of the lack of a SAP GUI link. We then used DESTINATION 'NONE' and this solved the problem (I think it also opens a new LUW).
Also my WM problem is on a Z application that will be running under SAP Console, and I don't think opening a new GUI session with STARTING NEW TASK under SAP Console will work. I should try it anyway. - edited: I just remebered I did this a couple years go and it works
I could use DESTINIATION 'NONE' in this case too, since the funcion module is RFC-enabled already. There are a few ways to solve the problem (which is already solved by the way). My main question still is about removing a whole program from SAP memory through ABAP commands.
    Thank you very much!

  • Plug-in and Removal of sound devices

    Hi,
We're having a problem with USB sound devices. When our application is running, we can't determine if the user has plugged in or removed a sound device. After the first call to AudioSystem.getMixerInfo(), it always returns the same list of devices.
Is there any way to get the list of devices that are currently available?
Here is some example code to illustrate the problem:
